Introduction:

Alright, welcome to Wipeout: In the Zone for the Xbox 360 Kinect! This game is simple enough to net a lot of gamerscore in a minimum amount of time while at the same time not being totally boring! This is my first guide I’ve ever written, so feedback will be nice. Also, keep a towel and lots of water nearby while you play because this can be a very tiring game.

Step 1- Episode Playthrough:

Most episodes will be locked in the beginning of the game, so start at Episode 1 and play it until you get a runtime of under 4 minutes. (I know Episode 1 Gold achievement says you only have to beat the episode under 4 and ½ minutes, but if you are going for the Ahead of the Curve and Way Ahead of the Curve achievements, then shoot for 4 minutes.) Beating episodes will unlock more episodes so keep progressing making sure to study the courses if you are having trouble with time. They do get harder as you go along, so don’t get frustrated, this game requires some patience. Also make sure to play as Jill Wagner for Episode 9 so you can get the Model Behavior achievement. During this playthrough, many other achievements will unlock without you even trying, so just soak them up and enjoy the rain of gamerscore that will accompany you as you play.

Step 2- Practice Mode:

Most of the non-multiplayer achievements that you didn’t get during the regular gameplay can be mopped up in this mode as well as the Practice Makes… achievements.

Step 3- Multiplayer Mode:

In this section, you will get achievements like Nemeses and You Hit a Girl?!? by going to the multiplayer section and setting the game up to the achievement specific settings. You can do this with other people, but it can also just be by yourself being every character.

Step 4: Mop Up/ Avatar Awards:

Any achievements you missed can be cleaned up right now and then, you will have a nice and cool 1000 gamerscore points to be happy about. Also, if you want the avatar awards for this game, go to the start up screen of this game and have a controller turned on. Type in the following codes to get the three awards (use the D-pad for these):

LEFT, B, DOWN, Y, A, B, RIGHT, UP (Wipeout Life Jacket both male and female)

Y, A, B, UP, DOWN, LEFT, Y, RIGHT (Wipeout Safety Helmet)

Just type in those two codes and you have 3 new things for your avatar. Now wipe off the sweat and take a breather because you deserve these points and awards!

Thanks to DirtyLittleSith, monlienNH3, Sternbam11, mast3r 0r0m1s, and NBA Kirkland for help with this!

Achievements!!!

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/achievements/1855/5-3JCew=.jpgEpisode 1 Gold:

For this achievement you have to make it through the first course with a time of 4:30 which shouldn’t be too much of a problem since I got it on my first try without really trying.

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/achievements/1855/5-wp8X8=.jpgEpisode 2 Gold:

All of these achievements require you to beat a certain episode within a time limit. Some are incredibly easy while the later few might cause you a bit of trouble. Just get to know the courses and sooner or later you will get all of these achievements. However, if you are going for the Way Ahead of the Curve achievement, make sure that you keep your time for each episode under 4:00.

See Primetime Special

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/achievements/1855/5-jhc7A=.jpgPrimetime Special:

For these achievements there are a total of 3 Episodes for each difficulty. Go to Single Player than Easy and start off at Episode 1 and finish that one and go to Episode 2, then 3 and so on. Every third episode you complete, an achievement will pop.

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/achievements/1855/5-4I+Mo=.jpgAhead of the Curve:

See Way Ahead of the Curve

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/achievements/1855/5--oAFk=.jpgWay Ahead of the Curve:

To get this achievement, you have to beat every episode with an average time of 4:00. (Not sure if some episodes can be over 4 minutes and some under 4 minutes and then the average time of all the episodes comes out to under 4 minutes each, but for now let’s assume 4 minutes for each.) For the Episode X Gold achievements you have to beat certain levels within a certain time period anyway, so this achievement will be made easier if you are going for those achievements as well.

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/achievements/1855/5-i0OJQ=.jpgThe Moonwalk:

This one is easier than most people think. When you start the Episode, walk down the ramp and before you hit the first obstacle stop and start backpedaling all the way up the ramp again, you’re going to hit the end but don’t stop until the achievement pops. (To backpedal you have to hold your arms straight out like when you have to stop but hold it and your character will start backing up.)

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/achievements/1855/5-pz1Ak=.jpgCardio Workout:

Again, another achievement that I tried over and over again to no avail. An easy way to do this one is go to practice mode and pick tryouts. Then pick the Wipeout Zone tryout.

During the course, you will come to a part with a motionless sweeper near the end of a treadmill that you are supposed to duck under. Instead of ducking, run on the treadmill. Your avatar will run in place against the sweeper.

Run here for 45 seconds without stopping and achievement unlocked (25G). If your avatar starts walking, the 45 seconds starts over.

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/achievements/1855/5-hh5KA=.jpgModel Behavior:

You unlock Jill at the end of Episode 8, so when you go to do Episode 9, choose her as your character and near the end of the episode you will get a Mimic Board to do. Simply pass it and the achievement is yours.

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/achievements/1855/5-uqEzM=.jpgEpic Fail:

Play a Wipeout Zone section where you deliberately wipeout at every single obstacle and keep going until the zone is over. This can be done in regular play, or just in a normal practice.

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/achievements/1855/5-pK66A=.jpgEpic Win:

This achievement can be tough, especially with the kinect as it isn’t always 100% accurate, but make sure to study either Episode 7, 8, or 9 and know the layout of them. This will make things a lot easier on you. (Personally I find Episode 7 is the easiest to get this achievement on.)

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/achievements/1855/5-hr4hU=.jpgPractice Makes Perfect:

Simple, just start up any Wipeout Zone section in the Practice section of the game and finish it, then repeat the same section 4 more times for an easy 16 gamerscore points.

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/achievements/1855/5-mLGoY=.jpgPractice Makes Better:

Like the other to Practice Makes… achievements, simply select either a Bruiseball or Wipealot in the Practice section of the game, then complete that course 4 times.

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/achievements/1855/5-594pg=.jpgPractice Makes Good:

Again, go to the Practice section of the game, select any Qualifier course, then finish and repeat the course until the achievement unlocks (3 times should do the trick.)

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/achievements/1855/5-n+ANQ=.jpgYou Da Man:

Set up a multiplayer game as 4 human characters, one being male and the rest female. Now make sure that your male character completes the episode with the best time and the achievement is yours.

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/achievements/1855/5-vfCWE=.jpgGirl Power:

Just like the You Da Man achievement, except switch the genders. Set up a multiplayer game as 4 human characters, one being female and the rest male. Now Make sure that your female character completes the episode with the best time and the achievement is yours.

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/achievements/1855/5-mBHDM=.jpgKarmic Justice:

Select Matt Kunitz as your character and get hit by any obstacle that flings you (I picked the hammer.)

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/achievements/1855/5-qmCD0=.jpgNemeses:

Set up a multiplayer game as 2 human characters, one being John Anderson and one being John Henson, then just play the episode like normal since it doesn’t matter who wins, you’ll get the achievement regardless.

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/achievements/1855/5-tG8K4=.jpgMaking Fun of Myself:

Just play Episode 5 as either John Henson or John Anderson. You don’t even have to win, just finish the episode.

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/achievements/1855/5-ln+Rs=.jpgSo Close:

Fairly simple, just go to any course (I chose the first course of Episode 1) and get to the last obstacle without messing up on any obstacle before that. Then, just wipeout and continue to the end where the achievement will pop.

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/achievements/1855/5-iHAYg=.jpgHopscotch:

This could be tricky… but once you get the hang of this challenge you will most likely be able to get this achievement with only a minimum size effort. Just wait for the sweeper arm to turn green, then either jump or duck according to what is appropriate at the time.

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/achievements/1855/5-xv0jE=.jpgI Like Big Balls:

In the third course of the second episode, jump onto the first MEGA big ball (you'll know where this is), then lean right to jump to the next one, then lean left to jump back to the original ball and keep jumping back and forth between these two balls until you get the achievement. (Make sure to lean left to right, not forwards and backwards.)

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/achievements/1855/5-nNOcg=.jpgBoys Smell:

Find a patch of mud and hold your hands up in the stop/reverse motion. You will walk backwards until you can't move anymore. Keep walking and the achievement will pop after 10 seconds.

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/achievements/1855/5-zFEuI=.jpgThat Wasn’t an Obstacle:

I actually got this achievement without trying my first time playing. Simply run into the very first obstacle you see on any course and if it’s within the first 5 seconds, you should be fine.

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/achievements/1855/5-0l6nE=.jpgThat’s Gotta Hurt:

Get hit by any hammer, shouldn’t have to try to get this one.

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/achievements/1855/5-vsMH0=.jpgWhere’s the Pole?:

For this achievement you have to cross the Big Balls without wiping out. Lean left to go backwards and right to go forward in the air. If you just lean to the left to head back to the ball you were on (if you feel you are losing it) and then lean right to head on when you have gained control again, you should get this.

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/achievements/1855/5-8E48Q=.jpgSack of Potatoes:

A very easy spot to get this is during the 4th episode’s Wipeout Zone. You will come to a point where you jump from one treadmill to another treadmill. If you miss the jump you fall into a patch of Big Balls with 2 motivators swinging at the bottom, and mud to walk in. Simply get hit by a motivator and walk over to the next check point.

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/achievements/1855/5-7kG1c=.jpgShafted:

With the crankshaft obstacle, get hit once and make sure to stay on the course, then continue on to the next checkpoint. This one can be tricky as sometimes the obstacle flings you off to the background while sometimes it only makes you stumble a bit. Just keep at this and you’ll get it eventually.

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/achievements/1855/5-5O24Q=.jpgPump You Up:

When you get to a pump, lock your elbows slightly out from your sides. Swing your hands from shoulder height down quickly. Adjust the speed of your swings and timing with the avatar and the achievement will unlock. This one reminds me of some old Mario Party minigames.

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/achievements/1855/5-+uIxc=.jpgAin’t Got that Swing:

This can be done in practice mode or not. I did it on episode 5 but it can be done on any episode with 2 rope swings in a row. You have to jump between the SAME 2 rope swings 5 times. To be clear that is 5 jumps (e.g. forward, back, forward, back, forward). To jump backwards you have to be making the "rope swing left" advanced motion (same as the "air control left" motion) just before you jump. Practice the rope swing motion controls before making your first jump.
