Intro: Persona 4 Arena: Ultimax (or if you want to call it...The Ultimax - Ultra Suplex Hold), is the sequel to P4A, which includes more content (characters, stages, music, modes and more.), the plot is a mysterious person envelops a red fog into the city and it’s up to the P4AU cast to stop him, but they must fight the shadow selves of them to pass on through, what will happen next? As also, another tourney starts, the P1-Climax.

Note: All-Out Attack and Throw can be mapped to any button if needed (esp:ltbut:/:rtbut:).

Universal Moves:

Jump/Double Jump/Hi-Jump - :dup:/:dup::dup:/:ddown::dup:

All-Out Attack - :xbut:+:abut: (or map it to :ltbut:), then mash :xbut: and/or :abut:, then either :ybut: to Launch, or :bbut: to Pounce.

Introducing in P4AU are Shadow Types (Note: S.Labrys with Asterius, Sho/Minazuki, Elizabeth, and the DLC characters do not have a Shadow Type), which though the same as regular characters but change the way they play diferently, here's a list of differences that Shadow Types have.

Has 2000 more health than Normal Types.

Have old Auto-Combo's from P4A.

20% Damage reduction for all attacks.

Can earn SP gauge faster than normal.

Can use Awakening moves at anytime.

Have access to Shadow Frenzy (:ls:, requires 100SP) which grants you unlimited access to SP Skills and perform move cancels outright before the gauge is depleted (if you win or lose a round with it active, the next round will prorate to half its value, not only that, you keep your SP gauge between rounds.)

Does not have access to a Burst and Instant Kill.

---

Conclusion: For those wanting an easier challenge than P4A, look no further as P4AU, is somewhat easier to get the achievements now due to some changes and other stuff. But the only "challenge" what lies ahead for those that can clear a characters entire challenge list, also includes the DLC ones too.

Part 1: Starting the game/Battle

First off, when you start the game, you will earn the 1st ach. "The P-1 Climax Begins", then after, there are tabs to select modes and options, for Battle this includes Arcade/Score Attack/Golden Arena/Versus, each mode (except versus) will have their own set of achievements here and what you need to do.

http://image.xboxlive.com/global/t.415407e2/ach/0/67The P-1 CLIMAX Begins! - 10:gsicon:

Welcome to P4AU!

1st achievement when you start the game.

http://image.xboxlive.com/global/t.415407e2/ach/0/68Arcade Novice - 10:gsicon:

You completed Arcade Mode with one character.

Simply complete the game with any 1 character, set the options to 1 round, difficulty on “Safety” (also Safety course in Arcade), pick any character, burst with the :ls: near opponent, then do :ddown:(x3) and :ybut:+:bbut: to do a character’s Instant Kill, and do this for all 8 matches.

http://image.xboxlive.com/global/t.415407e2/ach/0/69Arcade Master – 20:gsicon:

You completed Arcade Mode with three characters.

Same thing as Arcade Novice, but finish it with 2 more characters, Shadow Types also count too.

http://image.xboxlive.com/global/t.415407e2/ach/0/6aScore Attacker – 10:gsicon:

You completed one Score Attack course.

Score Attack in P4AU, compared to P4A, is easier now, thanks to selectable difficulties, and also the ability to continue if you lose. Although easier if you pick Kanji, since his command throws do so much damage. Also remember to burst on opponent and perform his IK on the 2nd/winning round. Each S.A. course is always 10 matches. Select Course A on Safety, and then complete it.

http://image.xboxlive.com/global/t.415407e2/ach/0/6bScore Warrior – 20:gsicon:

You completed three Score Attack courses!

Same as Score Attacker, but also complete Courses B and C.

http://image.xboxlive.com/global/t.415407e2/ach/0/6cScore Master - 30:gsicon:

You’ll earn this by defeating the boss on the 5th floor of Normal Mode.

http://image.xboxlive.com/global/t.415407e2/ach/0/77Irreplaceable Bond – 20:gsicon:

You maxed out a Social Link in Golden Arena Mode!

Maxing out your Social Link Character (Navigator) is Level 10, you’ll get this around the course of either Hard/Risky Mode if your character is around Lv. 40 or above.

http://image.xboxlive.com/global/t.415407e2/ach/0/70Brave Gladiator - 10:gsicon:

You raised a character to level 10 in Golden Arena Mode!

You’ll earn this during the course of Normal Mode in Golden Arena, keep defeating opponents with a good set amount of stats and skills at your disposal with a character you feel suited with. Auto Mode might be useful in this case.

You raised a character to level 30 in Golden Arena Mode!

You completed one Golden Arena course.

Complete the Normal Mode in Golden Arena, the boss in the final floor will be Minazuki.

You completed two Golden Arena courses!

Complete the Hard Mode in Golden Arena, the boss in the final floor will be Elizabeth.

http://image.xboxlive.com/global/t.415407e2/ach/0/76Arena Domination – 80:gsicon:

You completed three Golden Arena courses!

Complete the Risky Mode in Golden Arena, the boss in the final floor will be Boss Elizabeth (with enormous stats/skills). Best if you have the skills I recommend and enough stats and ability to beat her. Chances are if you have the “Die for Me!” skill and if you get lucky pulling of a SP Skill which does make her KO if that happens, the mode is complete.

(For more info on Golden Arena, head to post #7 for more details.)

Part 2: Practice

Practice tab includes Lesson/Training/Challenge modes (more info later)

http://image.xboxlive.com/global/t.415407e2/ach/0/78Baby Steps – 10:gsicon:

You started on the road to knowledge.

Lesson mode is where the game with teach you the fundamentals of the game and how to play. Also a gimme achievement after completing the 1st lesson.

http://image.xboxlive.com/global/t.415407e2/ach/0/79Cram Session – 20:gsicon:

You studied 20 different Lessons.

Complete 20 different Lessons in Lesson Mode, unlike P4A, you don’t have to do them all, but it’s completely optional.

http://image.xboxlive.com/global/t.415407e2/ach/0/7a30-Minute Workout – 10:gsicon:

You trained for 30 minutes straight!

Like in P4A, play Training and practice on for 30 minutes, idle standing will not unlock this though (nor pausing the game in Training). You’ll have to be constantly doing any action around that time.

http://image.xboxlive.com/global/t.415407e2/ach/0/7bDon't Think, Feel – 40:gsicon:

You completed all of one character's challenges!

Like in P4A, you have to complete 1 characters challenge list in Challenge mode, and it’s not easy by any means like it is before. An easier character to use, though still challenging is to use Labrys, Solution to her 25th challenge (http://bit.ly/1tnAmAT) [Have about 75SP or more], and Solution to her 30th (Chain Knuckle combo) is :ddown::dright::xbut:or:abut:, :ls:, :ddown::dright::abut:, :ddown::dright::xbut:, :ddown::dright::abut:+:xbut:, :rs:, then repeat it 2 more times (:abut:CK, :xbut:CK, :abut:+:xbut:CK, :rs:), and then either 1 more :abut: or :xbut: CK. Note: Using any DLC character and clearing their challenges will unlock both that and this achievement also if you clear it all.

http://image.xboxlive.com/global/t.415407e2/ach/0/7cCombination Fighter – 10:gsicon:

You completed 150 challenges!

See: Combination Master

http://image.xboxlive.com/global/t.415407e2/ach/0/7dCombination Master - 40:gsicon:

You completed 300 challenges!

The challenges are easier in P4A this time (no longer need to do everyone's challenges), since there's a couple more characters to use, simply do about 20 challenges for each character (DLC chars included), and by the time you get to your 300th clear there, the achievements are yours.

Part 3: Story

http://image.xboxlive.com/global/t.415407e2/ach/0/6dThe P-1 CLIMAX is over! – 20:gsicon:

You completed Story Mode from the P4 perspective.

Complete the P4 story by clearing each and every chapter, this in turn unlocks the P3 Story (and Episode Adachi if you have the Adachi DLC character).

http://image.xboxlive.com/global/t.415407e2/ach/0/6eShadow Operative – 20:gsicon:

You completed Story Mode from the P3 perspective.

Same as "The P-1 Climax is Over", Complete the P3 story by clearing each and every chapter.

http://image.xboxlive.com/global/t.415407e2/ach/0/6fA New Journey – 80:gsicon:

You witnessed the story's True Ending.

From a certain point after or around clearing both P4 and P3 stories, you'll reach a point where you'll have about 2 chapters to re-do in order to get 100% in both episodes (the "Clear" mark should be yellow) after selecting the 1st choice, come back to these chapters again to pick the second choice (either Bonds or Solitude). Beat the boss and use quick skip to make things quick. (The "Clear" mark should be red if you got them done correctly.)

P4 Episode: Chapter 12: The Evil God's Intent

P3 Episode: Chapter 10: Source of his Strength

After that, another chapter should unlock in the P4 Story side, continue onto that and finish it, and you should unlock the True Ending and its achievement.

Part 5: Miscellaneous/Clean Up

Hit a home run with the bases loaded, full count and two outs in Arcade or Network Mode.

Best done in Player Match, have you and your boosting partner as Junpei, as he has a special Baseball gauge right next to the SP gauge. In order to get the achievement, as seen in the achievement icon, it requires having all the S/B/O's and Bases lit up then performing his Grand Slam Super.

http://www.dustloop.com/wiki/images/4/41/Baseball.jpg

http://image.xboxlive.com/global/t.415407e2/ach/0/8dNice Burst! - 10:gsicon:

Failed a Reversal Burst in Arcade or Network Mode.

It’s easier if you pick Yu for both you and your boosting partner, first, perform Raging Lion (:xbut:) right under their knees, then your opponent should burst (:ls:) and then you immediately block, if done right the achievement will unlock. The same would unlock the achievement “Fishing for Beginners” for your opponent.

You won 30 rounds with SP Skills or Awakened SP Skills in Arcade or Network Mode

Defeat your opponent or boost partner in the modes described with SP Skills (the super moves of the game, check command list for details, or hold :xbut: for a certain amount of time, then release) for 30 rounds, these skills cost 50SP or more to use.

http://image.xboxlive.com/global/t.415407e2/ach/0/93You're Not Me! – 10:gsicon:

(Excludes Shadow Types and DLC characters. Special Section: Golden Arena

Golden Arena is a mode kind of like playing Guilty Gear’s X2 AC+ Survival and BlazBlue’s CSE/CP’s Abyss modes, though as also a typical survival mode, but has some of the things like in BB’s Abyss modes like “Skills” and “Stats” to power up your characters. Though in this one, there is no shop to buy skills, you earn them by leveling up your character in an RPG kind of way and earn EXP along with it, the downside to this mode, unlike GG and BB similar modes to that (raising survival level and depth), you have to go through each and every match until the end more info on G.A listed below.

Here’s how the Stats work

St = Strength (Power/Damage of your attacks to Opponent)

Ma = Magic (Increases Rate of SP Gauge)

En = Endurance (Increases amount of Health)

Ag = Agility (Increases rate of Burst Gauge)

Lu = Luck (Increases amount of EXP)

1. Each 5 matches you fight a boss in a dark color pallet. Beat them to earn a random skill they drop.

2. You can hold up to 4 Skills with various effects, if you want to add a new skill and remove the old one if the slots are full, go to that skills name, highlight it and select “Yes”. (Press Start during battle, and go to Skill Info to check what you and your opponent stats and their skills equipped.)

3. The mode has a checkpoint system, so if you happen to lose, you can continue on from the floor 5 floors below it (Ex: 1, 6, 11, and so on)

4. The mode also includes and “Auto Mode” in which the CPU will control/fight for you, but it’s best used on the Normal difficulty, or if you have high enough skills and stats and want to take risks, you can also try in Hard/Risky. (Also, IK’s cannot be used in this mode.)

5. You will earn 3 stat points for each level up, allocate them as you wish. You can keep them and allocate it later, but best to do it as soon as you can anyways. Around certain level ups, you can earn extra skills (up until Lv. 55) if you choose to accept them if you wish.

6. The mode also handles a Social Link system where you can use your navigator (Default: Rise, others can be unlocked in-game or can be bought as DLC for quick access.) to level up and to use SL specific Skills, which can be unlocked during the course over G.A mode. Their Max Level is 10.

7. Lastly the mode has 4 different difficulties with set number of floors (Normal: 50, Hard: 100, Risky: 200), but only 3 are needed for all of the achievements. At the final floor of each difficulty, you will fight a boss in their gold pallet with strong attributes; beat them to clear the mode.

A List of useful Skills I recommend if you happen to acquire them which might makes things easier (certain skills will have letters signifying how resourceful they’ll be – L, M, S, H, M, SP and EX.):

Mind Charge – SP Skills/SPS Boosts cost ½ of gauge to use.

Spring of Life – Auto recovers HP and Auto fills SP in increments during battle.

God’s Judgment – Opponent starts with ½ HP and Max SP

Die for Me! – Chance of opponent KO if a SP Skill attacks the opponent.

I'm not trying to harshly criticize your work but Mr. Stray, are you sure you know what you're doing here? Your format appears to be way off, well at least, compared to how most of the other standardized guides on this site look.

While using your guide I had trouble reading your roadmap and overview. Nothing is bolded? Where is the sense of organization and usage of headers? Furthermore, your roadmap is a sloppy mess with passages appearing next to headers instead of below them. Also, the 360 button inputs scattered about don't help either. The achievement guide itself isn't too bad though; it's been helpful for me.

Like I said man, I'm just putting that out there but if you're not done yet I understand but then again what are you waiting for? You shouldn't post guides if you're not willing to finish them in a timely manner. I know this game isn't exactly Call of Duty in terms of popularity, which is why you haven't been on top of this (being a dead forum). However, this is about principle my friend! If you don't like my comments I would understand but I just want to help. I can help you re-format this guide. Also good stuff on getting the 1250 on the XBA leaderboard there. (Noticed when I logged in a second ago on the P4AU main page.) Are you 1st to finish it in the world?

On a side note this game is the most insanely cool piece of work I've ever played. Makes me want to go ahead and start the original P4A game. Score Attack come at me. :uzi:

EDIT: Saw your disclaimer just now, if you want me to take this post down let me know. It looks like you have plenty of space to finish the guide as is though.

Yes, I know what I'm doing, thanks for giving me the heads up, but yeah, I get things done when I can, I'll might have to get rid of this post here if I need any space.

Oh yeah, and thanks for the offer, that is, if you have the time, I mean, its not done yet, its just I was trying to get the game done ASAP, and yeah, 1st to 1250:gsicon:, lol.

Its just, other things get in the way first, and this one takes priority, other than that, just send you more or less the same stuff over XBL messages, lol. X3

Really hope you're planning to improve this one, Neo. It needs a few things. Did you come up with the combos yourself for the 25th trials? If so, good work.

EDIT: Including DLC characters you should only have to do about 14 trials with every character for the 300. This isn't even assuming you complete the 3 DLC characters. Just a heads up.

At last, I am finally able to post here again. Have to admit I feel pretty damn proud of myself right now. Just finished both Ultimax and Persona 4 Arena with all achievements unlocked! Let's go!

There wasn't an Achievement guide for the original Persona 4 Arena game but that ChaosChao fella posted a Score Attack guide on the site so I used that one to give me strategies and approach. Yeah, the last game was infinitely harder than Ultimax :( but a hell of a thrill to finally complete to the full 1000.

As for your guide, I don't think you need to tell gamers how to play the game (controls, etc.). That is what the Tutorials and Lesson modes are for. This is an achievement website therefore you should place emphasis on the route for obtaining the achievements not game mechanics. Switch it to an "Achievement Breakdown" instead sort of like the sister site guide did below.

If you want an outline let me know and I'll PM you one or post here. I want to avoid trying to tell you how to write your own guide. Anyways Mr. Stray here is the recommended format for your initial post Roadmap:

Copyright

This guide is written for the sole use of XBA; if you wish to use this information please ask first.

Overview

  • Estimated achievement difficulty: 6/10
  • Offline/Online: ?
  • Approximate amount of time to 1250: 15-25 Hours
  • Minimum number of playthroughs needed: 3-Arcade/5-Score Attack/3-Golden Arena/3-Story
  • Number of missable achievements: None
  • Glitched achievements: None
  • Do cheat codes disable achievements? No (There are none)
  • Does difficulty affect achievements? Yes (In Score Attack and in Golden Arena)

General Achievement Note

Certain achievements are or can be unlocked within specific modes under their descriptions for details. Also, P4AU is region-free (US/NA version).

Introduction

Persona 4 Arena: Ultimax (or if you want to call it...The Ultimax - Ultra Suplex Hold), is the sequel to P4A, which includes more content (characters, stages, music, modes and more.), the plot is a mysterious person envelops a red fog into the city and it’s up to the P4AU cast to stop him, but they must fight the shadow selves of them to pass on through, what will happen next? As also, another tourney starts, the P1-Climax.

Controls

=Weak Atk., =Stong Atk, =Weak Persona Atk, =Strong Persona Atk., =Furious Action, =Evade, =Record (Used in Traning mode), =Play (Used in Traning and Golden Arena for certain Skills.), =(When Clicked) Burst, =(When Clicked) One More Cancel (must have 50SP or more.) Note: All-Out Attack and Throw can be mapped to any button if needed (esp/).

Universal Moves

Movement - Directional Pad or / Block - (if facing left) or (if facing right)

Backdash/Run - / (can also be done mid-air)

Jump/Double Jump/Hi-Jump - //

All-Out Attack - + (or map it to ), then mash and/or , then either to Launch, or to Pounce.

Throw + (or map it to ) - Near Opponent

Evade - (You can also evade cancel if you have 50SP or more)

Hop - + / Quick Turn (in mid-air) -

Bursts - when clicked (Gold Bursts give you 100SP and Max Persona Cards when hit on opponent, you also get half of burst gauge too. Blue Bursts are reversal, and will empty burst gauge if attacked/blocked. One More Bursts continues combos when opponent is in mid-air falling.)

One More Cancel - when clicked (Uses 50SP, cancels attack into another for combo possibilities.)

SP Skill Boost/Super SP Skill Boost: Input D-Pad/Stick notations and 2 buttons (Cost 25 for SP and 75 for Super SP.)

Instant Kill: (x3), +, must have 100SP or more, in winning round (or if its in 1 round), automatically KO's the opponent regardless of health if connected.

Shadow Characters

Introduced in P4AU are Shadow Types (Note: S.Labrys with Asterius, Sho/Minazuki, Elizabeth, and the DLC characters do not have a Shadow Type), which though the same as regular characters but change the way they play diferently, here's a list of differences that Shadow Types have.

  • Has 2000 more health than Normal Types.
  • Have old Auto-Combo's from P4A.
  • 20% Damage reduction for all attacks.
  • Can earn SP gauge faster than normal.
  • Can use Awakening moves at anytime.
  • Have access to Shadow Frenzy (, requires 100SP) which grants you unlimited access to SP Skills and perform move cancels outright before the gauge is depleted (if you win or lose a round with it active, the next round will prorate to half its value, not only that, you keep your SP gauge between rounds.)
  • Does not have access to a Burst and Instant Kill.

Conclusion

For those wanting an easier challenge than P4A, look no further as P4AU, is somewhat easier to get the achievements now due to some changes and other stuff. But the only "challenge" what lies ahead for those that can clear a characters entire challenge list, also includes the DLC ones too.

Pretty straightforward stuff but bolding and sectioning should help make it more organized at least. I also have decent software for making banners so let me know if you're interested in me making one for your guide. I was going to post a guide myself, but you beat me to the punch. Congrats again on being 1st to finish the game and I apologize for my lewd post earlier if it offended. :drunk Edited by Lupin IV

Not really, unless you ask someone to help you out with that! X3

Yo Stray, I'm thinking of going ahead and posting my own Persona Ultimax guide to submit to the front site. It doesn't seem like you are interested in taking any of my advice to update your guide here even though you appear to take enough time to reply to others on this thread. It's been a couple weeks and I have noticed minimal alterations to your work.

Your Roadmap remains the same (despite me taking the time to give you a model), and the font throughout your guide is still inconsistent. Not ragging or anything but it pains me to see this for a wonderful game that deserves a full-on and respected guide for the community. I expected for someone who spent so much time playing it on release and even getting #1 to finish it that you would show more effort.

I'm quite disappointed.

When I wrote my trophy guide for the PS3 version of the game over at the sister site, the first thing I paid attention to was details, since I feel that if a guide has more details for each trophy, it will benefit said trophy hunter on how you can obtain it easily (speaking from PS3 perspective considering that I have the PS3 version).

Given that most fighting games do not follow a specified amount of steps like other games do when it comes to trophies/achievements, I felt I had to make a breakdown of which trophies you can get from each mode, let alone it'd be a Misc. trophy you can get from either Arcade mode or Online matches. :p

Really Lupin IV (Styles), you have the nerve to complain on my work that I'm not done with it, relax, sheesh, all you're doing is disappointing yourself. Like I said, life and gaming takes my toll and not have much to edit other things. Besides, its not like no one isn't much posting here on a ghost town of a board here. (Unlike certain other niche games with dead boards.), so calm down and I'll finish it when I can.

Also "MikelAL93" gets my point, I also let him/her ask to use my solutions over at PST as well, so don't worry about it, this guide isn't going anywhere, nor is it done, I got a lot of floorwork and footnotes to complete, so I'll get to it as soon as possible.

---

Update: I'll get back to this and proof read it eventually. >_>

This guide/roadmap has been copied over to the Greenbook. This means that it is unfinished/unready to be published, and anybody is welcome to sign up to finish it off!

Each guide will have a brief paragraph describing what is needed to get it done and published.

If you can, please help us get this guide published to the site, and get your name eternally imprinted on the site!

If you are the OP, this doesn't mean you can't finish it off on your own, do that and we will remove it from the Greenbook :)

More information on Greenbook practices can be found in the Greenbook FAQ, here.
