Introduction:

Sonic & Sega All-Stars Racing is a fun little kart racer that pays tribute to the current and past characters in Sega's long history. Even better, getting 1000http://www.xbox360achievements.org/forum/../images/site/gp-g.jpg in this game is pretty straightforward, with no glitches or fiddly bits to worry about.

All 1000http://www.xbox360achievements.org/forum/../images/site/gp-g.jpg in this game can be earned in Beginner difficulty, there’s no need to step up to a harder difficulty level unless you decide for yourself that you’d like more of a challenge. It’s also worth going to the Options menu and turning off the Catch-Up mechanic. This is the sort of ‘rubber banding’ that makes cars who are behind suddenly get faster, making it easier for them to catch up with those ahead to keep the race interesting. We don’t want to keep it interesting though, we want to keep it easy, so turning off Catch-Up will mean that once you get a good lead, you’ll keep it.

STEP 1 – Collect The Cups

After doing the Test Drive at the start of the game (and netting the Rolling Start achievement in the process), the first thing you should do is head to Grand Prix mode and work your way through the six cups. Doing this will get you the Now There Are No Limits!, Welcome To The Next Level, To Be This Good Takes AGES and SEGA World achievements. If you’re playing in Beginner difficulty, there’s so much room for error and experimentation that, with a bit of planning before each race, you’ll also be able to get the following achievements: Power Drift, Turbo, Triple Trouble, Gaining Ground, Wheels Of Fire, Road Rampage, After Burner, Up ‘N’ Down, Streets Of Rage, Wonder Boy, Altered Beast, Last Survivor, Super Hang-On. Don’t worry about getting them all right away: all these achievements can be earned in Single Race mode if you don’t get any. You might as well just do them here to save some time later.

STEP 2 – Do The Time Trials

After finishing all six cups you should have a nice collection of Sega miles in the bank. Head to the shop and buy as many of the courses as you can (getting you the Lucky Dime achievement after you buy the first one). These courses can be used in Single Race and, more importantly, Time Trial mode. Head to Time Trial mode and start racing through each of the courses, being sure to also beat the Staff Ghost on each one. If you haven’t managed to get enough Sega miles to unlock every course, keep playing through the courses until you get to the first unlocked one anyway, because by then you should have enough to buy a few more. If you’re still a bit short, just do some Single Races until you’ve earned enough. Doing all the Time Trials will get you the Time Stalker, Clock Work, Shadow Dancing and Ghost Master achievements.

STEP 3 – Do the missions

Complete all the missions in Mission mode to get the Crazy Box achievement, and do it with an AAA rating on all levels to get the Mega Driver and Top Of The Class missions. By the time you’ve done all the missions, you’ll have more than enough Sega miles to buy all the hidden characters.

STEP 4 – Get the online achievements

This should only take a short while if you have a boosting friend. Set up a match with them and take turns lapping and beating each other to quickly get the Dreamarena, Racing Hero and Outrunner achievements, then keep playing online races and using weapons on people until you get the Outrunner achievement. You won’t need to go online again after this.

STEP 5 – Single Races and mopping up

To gather the rest of the achievements you’ll only need to do Single Races. Take a character at a time and make sure you hang at the back to get their All-Star move, then hit an opponent with it and go on to win the race. Do this with every character to get the Classic Collection and Fighters Megamix achievements. By this point you’ll have amassed a lot of Sega miles, so use them to buy the music tracks and keep playing Single Races while changing the music for each race until you get Magical Sound Shower. By the time you’ve done all that you should have more or less gathered enough Sega miles to get all the license achievements. If not, just keep racing single races (mopping up any of the achievements you haven’t gotten yet) until you do. Once you’ve clocked 750,000 Sega miles you should have unlocked every achievement and the lovely 100http://www.xbox360achievements.org/forum/../images/site/gp-g.jpg Ultimate Collection achievement will unlock.

Conclusion:

Sonic & Sega All-Stars Racing should be a relatively easy 1000http://www.xbox360achievements.org/forum/../images/site/gp-g.jpg for anyone used to arcade-style racing games, in particular the Mario Kart series. Getting used to the drifting mechanic (which rewards you with turbo boosts if you get it right) only takes a few races, and that’s really the only advanced move you need to learn in the game.

Earn your GOLD SEGA License.

Activates when you get 750,000 Sega miles. You get new licenses as you collect Sega miles (the game’s currency). You get Sega miles every time you finish a race, regardless of whether you win or lose. The better you do, the more miles you get. The licenses are based on the total amount of Sega miles you’ve collected as you’ve played the game, so you’re free to spend them in the shop without affecting your overall total license progress. The Gold License achievement (750,000 miles) will probably be the last one you’ll get. You should be more or less there by the time you get every other achievement, but if you have a few more to get just keep taking part in single races, which get you 1000-3000 miles at a time.

Win your first Grand Prix Cup.

Simple. Just finish the first Grand Prix. Play it in Beginner mode and turn off catch-up in the game’s options to make it easier.

Win every race within a Grand Prix Cup.

Play a Grand Prix and come in first in all four races for a total of 40 points. If you’re playing in Beginner mode with catch-up turned off this shouldn’t be too much trouble.

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/forum/../images/achievements/1087/+-XIMg==.jpgTo be this good takes AGES!30 http://www.xbox360achievements.org/forum/../images/site/gp-g.jpg

Win every Grand Prix Cup.

All you have to do is win all six of the game’s Grand Prix cups. The difficulty doesn’t matter so to make it easier, play through them all on Beginner difficulty.

Take out an opponent with each character's All-Star Move.

This can be a little time-consuming but isn’t too tricky. Once you’ve unlocked all the characters choose one at a time and choose Single Race (I recommend choosing the first track since it’s easiest). Stay at the back of the pack and keep collecting power-ups until you get your All-Star move, then drive up to the 7th placed opponent and activate the move. You need to be sure to hit at least one opponent with the move otherwise it won’t count. Do this with every character and the achievement will pop up instantly. Check the “Achievements” screen in the License menu to see how many you have left.

Set a Personal Best Time on any Time Trial course.

Since you start each track with no time set, once you’ve finished a lap on each course you’ll automatically set a Personal Best. Race a lap then quit out and the achievement will unlock.

Set a Personal Best Time on every Time Trial course.

Same as Time Stalker, except you have to do it on every course. Don’t forget that half the courses need to be bought from the Shop.

Defeat a Staff Ghost on any Time Trial course.

The Staff Ghosts will appear after your first lap on any course. To get this achievement you need to cross the line before the ghost does on any lap.

Score AAA on any mission.

Start any mission in Mission mode and get an AAA score on it. Naturally, the first missions are the easiest to do this on.

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/forum/../images/achievements/1087/UP9yxvg=.jpgCrazy Box15 http://www.xbox360achievements.org/forum/../images/site/gp-g.jpg

Pass every mission.

Complete all 64 missions. The locked missions unlock naturally as you progress through the ones available. You don’t need to worry about the ranking for this achievement, though you should be going for AAA in each so you don’t have to go through them all over again for the Top Of The Class achievement.

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/forum/../images/achievements/1087/UPrQLQE=.jpgMagical Sound Shower30 http://www.xbox360achievements.org/forum/../images/site/gp-g.jpg

Race to every piece of music.

The vast majority of the music has to be purchased from the Shop. Once you buy a song you can then select it before each race starts by pressing left and right. The best way to do this is take a note of each song you’ve played, since although the License screen tells you how many tracks you’ve listened to it doesn’t tell you which ones they are. Another good strategy to ensure you get them all is to finish the cups first (to ensure you’ve listened to all the default tracks), then buy one song at a time, playing a single race with that song before buying the next one.

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/forum/../images/achievements/1087/UPsw1ZI=.jpgTop of the Class30 http://www.xbox360achievements.org/forum/../images/site/gp-g.jpg

Score AAA on every mission.

You may think this one will be a nightmare if you’ve played Sega Superstars Tennis, but it’s actually nowhere near as difficult. Some missions will be a little tricky, but the majority are straightforward and leave plenty of margin for error. Try the mission first to see how well you go, then choose “Restart” once you’re done and keep doing it until you get an AAA rating. If you’re neat the end of the challenge and you know you won’t get an AAA you may as well finish before restarting because you’ll at least pick up a few Sega miles which will help towards other achievements.

Play a friend over Xbox LIVE.

Nice and easy one, this. Just start a race against someone on your friends list. You don’t even have to finish, the achievement will pop up as soon as the race starts.

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/forum/../images/achievements/1087/UPjxJLQ=.jpgRacing Hero15 http://www.xbox360achievements.org/forum/../images/site/gp-g.jpg

Win any race over Xbox LIVE.

Simply play and win a race online. This doesn’t have to be an “Against Anyone” (i.e. Ranked) race, and so can be easily boosted with a friend. Set up a race, let your friend join, start the race and take turns letting the other person win.

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/forum/../images/achievements/1087/UPvWMLo=.jpgOutrunner30 http://www.xbox360achievements.org/forum/../images/site/gp-g.jpg

Lap a trailing player in a race over Xbox LIVE.

Again, this is easiest done with a boosting buddy. Start the race and have your friend sit on the start line. Finish a whole lap and overtake them again and the achievement should pop up. You might as well do this at the same time as the Racing Hero achievement to save time.

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/forum/../images/achievements/1087/UPo2yCk=.jpgDeath Adder30 http://www.xbox360achievements.org/forum/../images/site/gp-g.jpg

Take out opponents with items one hundred times over Xbox LIVE.

Once again, this can be boosted, or you can just play online multiplayer for fun and it’ll come fairly quickly. As with similar counting achievements, you can check the Achievements screen in the License menu to see how many you’ve done so far.

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/forum/../images/achievements/1087/UPmIJeg=.jpgLucky Dime10 http://www.xbox360achievements.org/forum/../images/site/gp-g.jpg

Purchase any item from the shopping menu.

Easy. Go to the Shopping option from the main menu and buy either a character, course or music track.

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/forum/../images/achievements/1087/UPupLF0=.jpgHigh Roller15 http://www.xbox360achievements.org/forum/../images/site/gp-g.jpg

Purchase every item from the shopping menu.

This will unlock when you buy every character, course and music track. It’s easy to miss the courses and music, you need to press :xbut: to switch to those shops. It’ll take you a while to get absolutely everything, but by the time you’ve finished all the Cups and then completed all the Challenges, you should at least have earned enough to buy all the characters and most of the courses or music. It’s then just a case of playing more single races or multiplayer games to earn more Sega miles.

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/forum/../images/achievements/1087/UPpJ1M4=.jpgClassic Collection15 http://www.xbox360achievements.org/forum/../images/site/gp-g.jpg

Win a race as each racer.

Once you’ve unlocked each racer, simply start a Single Race with each one and come in first.

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/forum/../images/achievements/1087/UP-rPzc=.jpgSEGA World30 http://www.xbox360achievements.org/forum/../images/site/gp-g.jpg

Complete a race on each course in Grand Prix, Single Race or Time Trial mode.

Unlocks once you’ve played all 24 tracks. You don’t need to win them, just complete a race on each. You’ll get this one naturally once you’ve finished all six cups.

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/forum/../images/achievements/1087/UP4Lx6Q=.jpgPower Drift15 http://www.xbox360achievements.org/forum/../images/site/gp-g.jpg

Perform a fifteen second Drift.

Not as difficult as it may sound, there are plenty of areas in this game where you can hold a long drift. All you need to do is hold :ltbut: while turning and accelerating to start a drift, then continue to hold :ltbut: for as long as you can. If you time the drift properly you can continue to drift out of a turn and keep drifting along straight sections for a few seconds more, making this achievement easier. Just keep doing long drifts (being sure not to let go of :ltbut: for turbo boosts) and this will come naturally. If you’re still struggling, try doing it across the wooden bridge in the Lava Lair track, because it’s a very long turn which takes much more than 15 seconds to get through. Do one long drift through this and you’ll get it easily.

JamKaBlam has an easier way to do it. Simply start any mission with a huge open space (such as mission 4, Treasure Island) and do a long drift in that open space, going round in circles until it unlocks.

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/forum/../images/achievements/1087/UPwqzhE=.jpgTurbo15 http://www.xbox360achievements.org/forum/../images/site/gp-g.jpg

Perform twenty Turbo-Boosts within a single lap of any event.

You have to get twenty turbo boosts on a single lap, which you get by drifting for certain periods of time then letting go of :ltbut:. As you drift, the controller will vibrate when you get your first boost, then vibrate twice more to indicate level 2 and 3 boosts. These level 2 and 3 boosts only count as one, so you should boost as soon as it vibrates once. This way you can quickly boost then start drifting again on the same corner, getting you two or maybe three boosts on a single turn. The best track for this is the Lava Lair track, since it’s one of the longest in the game and you’ve got plenty of opportunities for boosts. CNash also suggests the Treetops course, using Shadow. I’m not sure if the boosts you get from doing mid-air tricks count towards this, if someone could confirm I’ll credit them in the guide.

Perform three Tricks in one jump and make the landing.

This is easiest in the Shibuya Downtown track. At one point you’ll be able to either go through a tunnel or go up one of two ramps at either side of it. Go up one of the ramps and go round to a huge jump. Jump off and start bashing :ltbut: to perform tricks. Once you’ve triggered the third stop pressing :ltbut: because if you keep trying tricks and don’t land properly you won’t get the achievement.

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/forum/../images/achievements/1087/UP6hB3c=.jpgGaining Ground10 http://www.xbox360achievements.org/forum/../images/site/gp-g.jpg

Get a Turbo-Boost Start in any event.

You get a turbo-boost start if you start accelerating at the right time before the race. You have to start holding :rtbut: as soon as the ‘2’ starts to appear during the countdown. The timing for this is pretty precise so you might not get it on your first try, but if you don’t get it just pause and restart the race.

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/forum/../images/achievements/1087/UPyADsI=.jpgWheels of Fire15 http://www.xbox360achievements.org/forum/../images/site/gp-g.jpg

Perform a Turbo-Boost Start across 3 consecutive events.

Once you get used to the timing for the turbo-boost start you’ll get this achievement eventually. You can’t just do this and restart twice, you need to finish the race you’re on for it to count. This works over Single Race, Multiplayer, Grand Prix and Misson events.

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/forum/../images/achievements/1087/UP1g9lE=.jpgRolling Start15 http://www.xbox360achievements.org/forum/../images/site/gp-g.jpg

Complete Sonic's Test Drive.

When you first start the game you’re asked if you want to take a test drive. If you do so, all you have to do is get as far as getting and activating the Speed Shoes power-up for the Test Drive to be considered complete. Simply exit the Test Drive at that point. If you didn’t take the Test Drive at the start of the game, you can find it again in the License menu.

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/forum/../images/achievements/1087/UPjCHag=.jpgRoad Rampage15 http://www.xbox360achievements.org/forum/../images/site/gp-g.jpg

Take out three opponents with one All-Star Move.

You should get this naturally as you do the Fighters Megamix achievement. Characters with a powerful All-Star move include Banjo, Sonic, Alex Kidd and the Bonanza Bros, though if you activate the move while you’re in 8th place and just behind everyone else, you’ll have a fairly good chance of hitting three opponents with most characters’ moves.

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/forum/../images/achievements/1087/UPki5Ts=.jpgAfter Burner15 http://www.xbox360achievements.org/forum/../images/site/gp-g.jpg

Take out three opponents with one triple-weapon.

This one can be slightly confusing because you may be firing three missiles one after the other and wondering why the achievement pops up. The way to do it is get a triple weapon (either three green gloves, three mines, three homing missiles or three bombs) then hold the A button. This fires all three weapons at once. If you hit three different opponents the achievement will unlock. Thanks to ~FORcEx for solving the problem!

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/forum/../images/achievements/1087/UPsD7I4=.jpgUp 'N' Down10 http://www.xbox360achievements.org/forum/../images/site/gp-g.jpg

Take out a racer by manually directing an item.

Manually directing means holding the opposite direction on the analogue stick to the direction the item usually travels. The easiest way to do this is get to first place, receive a green glove or homing missile, then hold down on the analogue stick and press :abut: to fire it behind you instead of ahead. If you hit an opponent you’ll get the achievement.

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/forum/../images/achievements/1087/UPrjFB0=.jpgStreets of Rage15 http://www.xbox360achievements.org/forum/../images/site/gp-g.jpg

Ram an opponent off the course without using a Weapon or Power-Up.

This is more or less down to luck, though there are ways to make it happen quicker. If you drift long enough to activate a level 3 turbo boost, ramming an opponent while boosting will knock them pretty far. This is even more powerful if you use a big character like, well, Big The Cat. Eventually you’ll manage to knock someone off the course, and the achievement will unlock. I got this one without even trying for it, you’re very likely to get it by accident too just by playing through the game and going for the other achievements.

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/forum/../images/achievements/1087/UPnEABM=.jpgWonder Boy15 http://www.xbox360achievements.org/forum/../images/site/gp-g.jpg

Win a race by crossing the finish line in reverse.

This is much easier if you go to the options and turn off the Catch-Up system. Then start a Single Race in Beginner difficulty and choose a track you’re good at. Get far enough ahead of the pack that you’ve got a good lead then turn around just before the finish line at the final lap and hold :ltbut: to reverse over the line. Don’t drift to turn because it won’t work. If you don’t turn off Catch-Up it’s much harder to find enough time to do this before an opponent overtakes you.

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/forum/../images/achievements/1087/UPgk+IA=.jpgAltered Beast10 http://www.xbox360achievements.org/forum/../images/site/gp-g.jpg

Win a race while using an All-Star Move.

Here you have to cross the finishing line while your vehicle is still in its All-Star transformation. Play a Single Race in Beginner difficulty and hang around the back of the pack until you get an All-Star move. Don’t trigger it: instead work your way to the front of the pack using only your drift boosts. On Beginner difficulty it’s not too tricky. Once you get to the front, save your All-Star move until you’ve only got a corner or two left. Activate the move and it should still be activated as you cross the line. It’s actually easier than you’d think because even if you’re in third or fourth position as you approach the finish line, the All-Star move should take you into first.

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/forum/../images/achievements/1087/UPuaFUE=.jpgLast Survivor15 http://www.xbox360achievements.org/forum/../images/site/gp-g.jpg

Finish the first lap in last position and go on to win the race.

Play in Beginner difficulty. Stay in eighth position until you’ve finished the first lap, then fight your way back to first place and finish the race. You should get more than enough power-ups to take you to first place.

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/forum/../images/achievements/1087/UPm7HPQ=.jpgSuper Hang-On15 http://www.xbox360achievements.org/forum/../images/site/gp-g.jpg

Win the race holding first place on each lap.

Play in Beginner difficulty. All you have to do here is win a race while being in 1st position as you complete each lap. It doesn’t matter if you drop down a few positions during the race, all that’s important is your position each time you cross the finish line.

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/forum/../images/achievements/1087/UPhb5Gc=.jpgProject Rub15 http://www.xbox360achievements.org/forum/../images/site/gp-g.jpg

Complete any Race event without collisions.

You have to finish a race without hitting an opponent or any barriers. Once again, play in Beginner difficulty. The wording of this achievement is actually pretty sneaky, because you don’t have to win the race. This means the best way to avoid collisions is to drop down to eight place at the start of the race and stay behind the other racers, being sure to avoid hitting walls and generally taking your time to get round the track safely. The achievement will unlock once you finish the race.

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/forum/../images/achievements/1087/UP35D54=.jpgEnduro Racer15 http://www.xbox360achievements.org/forum/../images/site/gp-g.jpg

Play one hundred events including any race, mission or time trial in any mode.

Fairly straightforward: play a total of 100 races. The Grand Prix, Single Race, Mission and Time Trial modes are all valid here, and you should get unlock this as you work on the other achievements. Completing the six Grands Prix will count as 24 races, and finishing all missions will give you another 64, leaving you with only 12 single races to get the achievement.

Earn every achievement in the game.

Simple: get every other achievement and this one will unlock automatically. Bit of a cheap one really, especially considering it’s worth a whopping 100 points.

Secret Achievements

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/forum/../images/achievements/1087/s1.jpgSonic Unleashed15 http://www.xbox360achievements.org/forum/../images/site/gp-g.jpg

Use Sonic's All-Star Move to take out Dr. Eggman and show him who's boss!

Here you have to use Sonic’s All-Star move and make sure you hit Eggman with it. Start a Single Race as Sonic on Beginner difficulty and make sure Eggman is one of the other drivers. If he isn’t, quit to the main menu and start another race until he’s there. Drop to the back of the pack (as in the Fighters Megamix achievement) until you get Sonic’s All-Star move (the icon will show the Chaos Emeralds). Catch up with the rest of the pack and get a good distance behind Eggman, then trigger the All-Star move and hit Eggman as you blast past by pressing :abut:. If you miss him, the achievement won’t unlock.

Use Amy's All-Star Move to send Sonic dizzy with love!

Similar to the Sonic Unleashed achievement, here you have to use Amy’s All-Star move and make sure you hit Sonic with it. Start a Single Race as Amy on Beginner difficulty and make sure Sonic is one of the other drivers. If he isn’t, quit to the main menu and start another race until he’s there. Drop to the back of the pack (as in the Fighters Megamix achievement) until you get Amy’s All-Star move (the icon will show a mallet). Catch up with the rest of the pack and get a good distance behind Sonic, then trigger the All-Star move and hit Sonic as you approach him by pressing :abut:. If you miss him, the achievement won’t unlock.

Use Ryo's All-Star Move to take out Jacky and Akira and show them who's the ultimate martial artist!

Similar to the Sonic Unleashed achievement, here you have to use Ryo’s All-Star move and make sure you hit Jacky and Akira’s car with it. Start a Single Race as Ryo on Beginner difficulty and make sure Jacky and Akira’s car is one of the others in the race. If it isn’t, quit to the main menu and start another race until they’re there. Drop to the back of the pack (as in the Fighters Megamix achievement) until you get Ryo’s All-Star move (the icon will show a key). Catch up with the rest of the pack and get a good distance behind Jacky and Akira’s car, then trigger the All-Star move and hit them as you approach by pressing :abut:. If you miss, the achievement won’t unlock.

Use Billy's All-Star Move to squash the Crows!

This is an easy one because it’ll come naturally when you play mission 12 (Egg-Citing Times). When you start the mission, Billy instantly triggers his All-Star Move, where he rolls on a giant egg. As soon as the egg rolls over one of the crows on the road you’ll get the achievement. This is a very easy achievement, it’s harder NOT to hit one of them!

Perform three tricks in one jump with Beat on Tokyo-to - Shibuya Downtown.

If you follow the same method as the Triple Trouble achievement you’ll get this achievement. Select Beat as your racer and start a Single Race in Shibuya Downtown. At one point you’ll be able to either go through a tunnel or go up one of two ramps at either side of it. Go up one of the ramps and go round to a huge jump. Jump off and start bashing :ltbut: to perform tricks. Once you’ve triggered the third you’ll get the achievement.

Use Zobio and Zobiko to send one hundred Curien Mansion Creatures back to the grave.

This one’s slightly time-consuming but not too bad. Start a Single Race as Zobio and Zobiko and race on the Outer Forest track. You have to drive through 100 of the zombie characters you see walking around the track. If you boost into them or hit them with weapons you can take them out without taking damage. You can not just run into them. They don't count. Because this is a secret achievement you can’t check your progress, but just keep playing that course over and over again and hitting zombies and it should unlock eventually.

Summon the giant KapuKapu and gobble up Big the Cat for mouse revenge!

Similar to the Sonic Unleashed achievement, here you have to use the Chu Chu Pilots’ All-Star move and make sure you hit Big The Cat with it. Start a Single Race as Chu Chu Pilots on Beginner difficulty and make sure Big is one of the other drivers. If he isn’t, quit to the main menu and start another race until he’s there. Drop to eighth place until you get the Chu Chu Pilots’ All-Star move (the icon will show a cat). Catch up with the rest of the pack and get a good distance behind Big, then trigger the All-Star move and hit Big by running into him. If you miss him, the achievement won’t unlock.

Just wondering how hard are the time trial achievements? I've been thinking of getting this but haven't bought a racing game in some time now. If they are anything like the Diddy Kong Racing time trials then they will probably be impossible for me lol.

Good guide so far btw. :woop:

Nah, they're nowhere near as hard as Diddy Kong Racing. I'm by no means fantastic at racing games and I beat the first two Staff Ghosts on my first lap without trying. If you basically turbo boost round most corners and don't crash you'll have a good chance of beating the ghost on each course.

And thanks for the nice words :)

In theory this involves hitting three different opponents with either a triple green glove, triple bomb or (preferably) a triple homing missile. I'm having problems getting the achievement though, despite doing that many times. Anyone managed it yet?

This one confusing me too, as I thought I was hitting people with all 3 Missles/Gloves countless times.

I've gotten it just recently by luck I think. I laid down a Triple-Mine horizontally (holding down the A button triggers this) and managed to hit 3 people I guess? It happened behind me so I'm not sure. Each triple item has an effect when you hold down A. Maybe that's the secret?

I just got the after burner achievement it's just as you say but an easier way of doing it would be on the first map whale lagoon hang back in about 5th place or so until you get 3 bombs then when you get to the part from the starting line past the first two curves coming up on the curve to the left with the bumpers when you see 3 or more racers go by you hold down the A button and you'll get the achievment i've done it twice using this method thanks for the tip about the holding down A

Nicely written.

I have some advice for the "Power Drift" achievement. The best and easiest way i found was to play Sonic's first mission which involves collecting rings in a square arena.

Simply begin a drift on a corner and just hold it as you go around the track in circles. You'll never hit any walls or obstacles aslong as you keep counter-balancing the drift.

How the hell am I supposed to do Wonder Boy?

I have catch-Up off and there is always a CPU behind literally all the time, all the others could be all the way in the back but one CPU will just be on my ass for the whole race, i even put it on nine laps and barely any distance came between us.

Boostable over xbox live [play with friends; AI racers off.... maybe split-screen with second controller?

** EDIT read above me .... yep splitscreen FTW **
