I am from NJ, and am looking for a good rental service. My main concern is timing. I need the game to be here in 2-3 days, no late fee's, and a wide selection of easy 1000's. I know there is a specific thread about these rental services, but I need to hear from personal experience with each from people who are from NJ. Thanks for any help.

I live in NJ and I have Gamefly and I love it. The games come relatively quickly, there are no late fees, and they have a wide selection of games. I really don't like Blockbuster though. They don't have that good of a selection of games, you can only keep the game for 5 days and it's expensive. That last time I rented a game there it was $7 and change. Gamefly is around $10 or so a month and you get a new game as soon as you ship it the old one back. Definitely go with Gamefly.

What part of NJ do you live in? I am near the coast, Belmar to be exact. Would the games still come quick?

You can get an Unlimited Pass for 21$ a month I think.

Ok Kiwi I will help you out as much as i can on this but first is the Unlimited Pass instore or Online?

*All Prices are not including tax.*

Regardless, Gamefly is without a doubt the best service out there. They have every game for the Xbox 360. One of the benefits of using gamefly is that you have alot of options.

Renting: Plans Range from 1 game plans - 4 game plans.

You can only start out with 1 and 2 game plans for the first 3 months and then you have the option of increasing that to a 3 or even 4 game plan once you have had your membership for 3 uninterrupted months. Prices are reasonable ranging from $15 (1 game plan) to $37 (4 game plan). Prices are cheaper for the first month ...exp (1 game plan = $9) and you even have the option to try a free 10 day trial which. You also have the ability to cancel your membership at any given time.

-------------------------

Buying: You have the option to buy games from there online store. All games are used and listed at a reasonable price, some being better then others. The disc is used but in perfect working condition and the ship you a brand new manual and case along with the game.

--------------------

Keep It: This is one of the better features of the site. If you rent a game and decide you like it/want it you have the ability to do so. You simply keep the game disc and they ship you a brand new case and manual. Shipping charges apply but there very low in price (under $2). Although not all games can be bought through the store you can use the 'keep it" feature for all games.

-----------------------

Trade-In Program: This is a new feature and they only let veteran (more then 3 months of interrupted service) members use it. You are able to trade in your games but I'll warn you know the prices are way to low, so if you have games you want to sell i suggest selling them on ebay. Plus, you don't get cash for the games you get credit towards the store and the montly membership charge.

---------------------

Gamefly Bucks: For every three months of interrupted service you are given $5 gamefly bucks (practically a $5 gift card). You can use this towards the store and only the store i believe. I rented NCAA March madness 07 and i could keep it for $8 i bought it and after tax, and S&H i only paid $4. It's a nice reward that most other rental sites don't do. Also for exsisting gamefly members reading this, you can get games cheaper if you rent them and then use the "Keep it" feature compared to buying it in the store.

---------------------------

Rewards:

Bonus: For signing up you get 14 issues of S.I. Magazine or Entertainment Weekly for FREE. I myself took S.I. because i'm a sports fanatic but be sure to call and cancel it because your credit card will be charged alot for a yearly renewal.

--------------------------

Shipping:I live in the Bay Area and theres a shipping center in L.A. I put the games in my mailbox monday morning and i get them by friday. If i drop them off at the post office monday morning then i tend to get my games thursday. So since i only have time to game on the weekend its a perfect fit for me, but 3-4 days is still a short period. All postage is paid for and envelopes are provided so thats not a worry, all games are delivered in a protective cardboard sleeve as well.

heres a picture of there distribution centers...

Heres a description of the Game-Q i went searching for this because i can't type anymore, haha, my hands are numb. :p

-------------------

Your GameQ is the backbone of your GameFly membership. It tells us which games you want to rent, and in what order. And it lets you know when you can expect to see them in your mailbox.

Caution: Your GameQ can be addictive. It's like a wish list - but better. When you find a game you want, click Rent It to automatically add it to the end of your GameQ. (Q-addiction symptoms include shuffling your GameQ for hours and debating Q strategy with friends. Don't say you haven't been warned!)

We'll send the first two available games in your GameQ right away. When you return a game, we'll send the next available game, and so on. Be sure to keep plenty of titles in your GameQ, so that we'll always have another game to send you.

Your GameQ page shows:

Games I Have Out - You know those games we sent you? The ones that are giving you insomnia and thumb-blisters?

Games on My List - The games you can't wait to get your hands on, in the order you want to get them.

On the My GameQ page, you can also change the order of games in your GameQ at any time, or choose to Keep a game you just can't bear to send back.

------------------------

FastReturnTM is a service, in partnership with the U.S. Postal Service, we developed to improve delivery times to GameFly members.

FastReturnTM will start the processing of your next game as soon as we receive confirmation from the U.S. Postal Service that a game has been returned in the mail. If we receive a valid USPS scan, you will no longer need to wait until we receive the returned game in our warehouse before we send the next available game in your GameQ!

NOTE: GameFly may not receive scans and we will not process a FastReturnTM if one of the following occurs:

  • Your mail is processed at a USPS facility that does not have scanning equipment
  • Your mail is not processed according to USPS standard operating procedures
  • The barcode on your mailer is damaged

That should explain the reasoning that enables the customer to receive there game faster then other rental services

Hope this helped!

crap! i accidently voted for blockbuster :( i meant to vote for Gamefly....Gamesnflix had alot of people sue them for various reasons and blockbuster just plain sucks to begin with. Get gamefly its 100% better then those other 2 POS's. plus they now have 2 (or from what i herd, 3) shipping centers...one in Cali, one in PA, and if what i herd if correct, then one in the south as well.

Also, can someone change my vote from blockbuster to gamefly?

Gamefly was a hassle at first since it took about 5 days to get my game after it was shipped (I'm in Texas) but now they opened a shipper in Austin, I should be getting them faster. Plus, that added $5 every three months and 10% off is a great way to stock up on some games.

where in texas? i also live in texas and at first when i joined it would take around 5 days and then it got down to exactly 2 days. (i dont have it anymore btw had to cancel back in 06 but hopefully ill be getting back soon) there the best game rental service imo

Holy shit Parkertm! Thanks bro, looks like right before the GSL starts up in June, I will be going with GameFly with a 2 game pass+ 1 month Free trial. IT works out, check my GS by the end of the league and you should be suprised how much I will gain. ( At least I will be amazed.)

I had 2 1 out unlimited rentals from 2 different blockbusters, 1 3 out gamefly, and 1 3 out gameznflix when I was in the last season of the GSL.;)

Dude thats ridiculous, i can hardly handle 2 games at a time let alone 8 games, i tackled a 4 game plan from gamefly once and that was complete chaos

heh yeah I only ran into a back load of games around week 10 of the GSL but at that point my team had missed cap and I was 17k up on people the in MVP race.

Without that push to knock games out as fast as possible though, the 3 out plan for gamefly is chaos for me and I just cut it back to a 2 out this month. I was getting tired of always having at least 1 game not getting played while I was tackling 2 others.

I must admit, Gamefly has gotten much better with their service. I switched to Gameznflix after using Gamefly because at the time they only had a distribution center in California. Since then they now have 3 more and one happens to be on the other side of the Bay in Tampa for me. It takes about 2 days from when I return the game. Gameznflix is the cheaper option and at the time they had a closer distribution center for me but they don't have as wide of a selection and it takes a long time for a new game to become readily available to rent. Gamefly may be a little bit more expensive but it is well worth it.
