Forza Horizon Pre-Order Car Pack

March 11, 2013by John Schommer

Perhaps you missed out on the pre-order mayhem for Forza Horizon. You were busy. We get it. Just because you missed out on your chance to get a sweet exclusive car by pre-ordering 2012’s biggest racing game doesn’t mean you have to miss out forever. Beginning today, you can now purchase the Forza Horizon Pre-Order Car Pack. Available for just 400 MS Points, this pack features five amazing cars that are wound tight and ready to be let loose on the open roads of Colorado.

The Forza Horizon Pre-Order Pack includes the following cars:

2011 Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG

While Mercedes doesn’t refer to the SLS as the “Gullwing,” it is absolutely the return of this famed icon of unconventional entry. The original Gullwing opted for this style of door to accommodate the extreme girth of its tubular frame; the new SLS is much more a cosmetic statement. Regardless of purpose, the doors are only the start of what is a true German supercar through and through. The hand-built, 6.2-liter AMG V8 hammers out 563 horsepower and bellows like a spec-built race car. A quick blip of the throttle will turn all heads within earshot if they weren’t already gazing at the exquisite low slung hunk of eye candy. On highways, speeds triple digits can be seen in the blink of an eye. A chance for a speeding ticket? Sure. But, in a car like this, it just might be worth it…

2010 Ferrari 458 Italia

A successor to the Ferrari 430 had to capture and improve upon all the elements of its predecessor. While completely new-- from its direct injected 562 horsepower 4.5 liter V8 to a litany of electronic aids--the 2010 458 Italia does just that. F1 champ Michael Schumacher participated in its development and, with a claimed top speed to 202 miles per hour, it’s nearly competitive at Grand Prix level. The Ferrari’s exhaust note is delivered through three exhaust tips, which range from low-end grunt to a high-RPM wail. That huge power band is transferred to the wheels via a seven-speed, dual-clutch transmission making the 458 a smooth customer in the acceleration department, capable of hitting 60 mph in just 3.4 seconds. Bringing the 458 back to 0 from 60 in just 107 feet is a high-tech ABS system applied through carbon-ceramic discs. This car screams for the open road and its sleek eye-catching form has the beauty and grace you would expect from Ferrari.

2012 Aston Martin Virage

Slotted between the DB9 and the DBS, the Virage is toting a 5.9-liter V-12 with more than 490 horsepower and incredible torque of 420 foot/pounds. In its ultra-luxurious form, it will hop to 60 mph in just above four seconds. It shares the same 6-speed automatic transmission as the DB9, DBS, and Rapide. The Virage utilizes Aston’s adaptive-damping system with ten settings, ranging from plush to track-ready stiffness. Press the “Sport” button on the dash and it will respond quicker, shift faster, and maintain redline without shifting. Its carbon-ceramic brakes come as standard and are needed to slow it from its 186 mph top speed. The Virage does take most of its styling cues from the DB9, but nods to the extravagant One-77 are present as well. Inside you will find an interior layered in leather and the kind of accouterments you would expect in a car of this class. With more features than a DB9 and a little less than a DBS, this Aston will keep you right in the middle of the road.

2010 Nissan 370Z

Once again, Nissan has delivered a car that can compete with cars ten times its price. The long line of Z cars have a prestigious history and loyal following, but anyone can appreciate the beauty and power of this Japanese sports car. Feature for feature this car is well matched with a Ferrari although it aims to keep more money in your bank account at purchase and at each fill up. The 370Z features grippy handling and drift-worthy rear wheel drive motivated by a 3.7-liter V-6 with more than enough juice to excite even the most die-hard of sports car enthusiasts. This is a car that you can take on a road trip in comfort or spend the day at the track hammering our the curves. The 370Z can do it all.

2010 Volkswagen Golf R

Available only in Europe, this could be the sportiest Golf model to date. 267 horsepower from its 2.0-liter turbo make it a kick in the pants when pushed, and it can be pushed all the way up to a governor-mandated 155 mph. Zero to 60 is conquered in 5.7 seconds and racing through first, second, and third in nothing less than incredible to experience. In essence, the Golf R has taken over for the R32 and, being all wheel drive, it can be drifted or driven with civility. Power is transferred to the rear wheels via an electrical pump that can put all the power to the rear depending on the driving circumstance. The Golf R looks the role in its Talladega design 19 inch rims, and is packed with aesthetics that scream “cool.” Twin central exhaust tips, L shaped LED taillights, and plenty of glossy black give the Golf R a look that matches its performance.

The Forza Horizon Pre-Order Car Pack is available now on the Xbox LIVE Marketplace. This pack is NOT included as part of the Forza Horizon Season Pass and will need to be purchased separately. Look for a new Rivals event in Forza Horizon starring the 2010 Nissan 370Z, going up later this week!
