xhunterrrr
For side achievements and collectibles (toys, skulls, and terminals). I don't think many people will want to go for level-specific achievements and collectibles when skulls like Blind, Iron, Assassin, Black Eye and Thunderstorm are on. The Assassin skull makes ALL enemies permanently invisible, so doing an achievement like "Kill in Grunts on Legendary in Two Betrayals" and achievements like that will be too hard to do on LASO. So I personally think splitting up LASO and a second Legendary playthrough is the smartest way to go about doing that. But why not go for that stuff on a lower difficulty to make it easier? You are going to get the Legendary achievements when you do LASO, so there is no reason to go through the game twice on Legendary. Then you can just do the level specific Legendary achievements by loading up those levels.
BiggD
I don't know about anybody else, but I will NOT be doing LASO solo whereas there are legendary solo achievements, so that becomes counterproductive. Even with the second controller inactive, having two people in LASO turns the level reset into a checkpoint reset when one person dies. Huge improvement. Also, anybody else excited to see people try to get the IWHBYD skull in Halo 2 for their first time? Besides the pain in the ass nature of just getting it to spawn (wonder if they'll remove that...) the 'effect' of picking it up will be hilarious. I'm just fucking glad they removed the Whuppopotamus skull. That fucking skull would make Halo 2's LASO probably anywhere from 100% to 1,000,000% harder and impossible. I think the toys will be a nice little collectible like stuffed characters. They seem fun IWHBYD was the only skull I never grabbed in Halo 2 back in the day. Is that the one with Sniper Alley on Outskirts that takes like 15 steps to obtain? I also wonder how 343 is handling Gold and Silver skulls. I remember Iron and Blind and Cowbell and IWHBYD were Silver skulls and thus not "necessary" for "legit" LASO runs. Thoughts? But why not go for that stuff on a lower difficulty to make it easier? You are going to get the Legendary achievements when you do LASO, so there is no reason to go through the game twice on Legendary. Then you can just do the level specific Legendary achievements by loading up those levels. This actually makes sense. I didn't think of that. It would seem that holds true for Halo: CEA, Halo 2, and Halo 3 then. EDIT: Some achievements in Halo: CEA require you to be playing on Legendary though, so I still think a second Legendary playthrough would be wise since you can't get something like "Walk it Off" "He's Unstoppable!" and Leave It Where It Lay" on Heroic or lower. And they're definitely not doable on LASO :/ Halo 4 has a Legendary Solo and Legendary Campaign and LASO achievement so maybe the line of reasoning would only fall in line with Halo 4 then since I don't think people are gonna be doing LASO by themselves. If someone does manage to do LASO solo, then they're fucking awesome Edited October 10, 2014 by BiggD

That fucking skull would make Halo 2's LASO probably anywhere from 100% to 1,000,000% harder and impossible. I'm not sure they did remove it. Whuppopotamus was never an official name. It was just the unnamed skull until they found it's file name in the code. When you look at the IGN list, the skulls we know about are posted in order of level. Considering 'That's Just... Wrong' comes before Thunderstorm, I think that may be the new name for Whuppopotamus. The name definitely seems appropriate. Also, I'm willing to bet the Halo 2 LASO achievement is glitchy. My reasoning: Nobody at 343 has ever successfully been able to pull it off, so they haven't been able to test if the achievement works or not. lol. Nooooo You actually might be right, as the ordering and the name fits the logical reasoning. EDIT: You're right. I just looked it up. Whuppopotamus was on the Armory, Thunderstorm was on Cairo Station. "That's Just…Wrong" is on Armory too, so fuck you, DeadZone Well, there goes my hopes of Halo 2 being doable! Maybe there's hope though and maybe you're wrong And maybe Iron and Blind won't count since their Silver! LOL. Imagine completing Halo 2 LASO and your achievement doesn't unlock…oh my… EDIT: For those of you who are wondering why I'm sad… "Whuppopotamus Effect: AI become more observant, noticing even active camouflage, shadows, the sound of reloading or drawing a weapon, footsteps, etc. They also have better accuracy and are much less likely to kill themselves or their teammates with explosive weapons." Chaz Of Sparta
Damn, man! I feel like me and LifeExpectancy are the only ones here that are determined to complete this game! Well, if you're serious about completing it, then good luck! You'll need it. But yeah, as I said before I've never been able to 100% a Halo game before due to a lack of skill and luck-based MP achievements...and now they're easy compared to the MCC! There's virtually no hope for me, but if you're able (or anyone, for that matter) pull it off then you deserve a medal.

Robobeast76
LASO is the only thing that looks annoying TBH - I've never enjoyed that aspect of the game and now it's out there. With Co-op on LASO at least someone can just make it to the next checkpoint. Wins, kills, medals are just a time investment that will happen. This game is going to be a feat of patience, determination and…sanity! At least the MP achievements here are milestone based and not hard. We'll see how I fare with completing this! Given I'm gonna be playing there games at the same time, I want to give myself until April 27th, 2015 to finish this game Has anyone else here played these games too much to the point where they don't care to play them again like me? Nope. I've played Halo: CE and Halo 3 about 25+ times from start to finish. I've done Halo 2 40 times exact from start to finish. Halo 4 maybe 10 times from start to finish. I've done all four the those Campaigns on Legendary Solo and Legendary Co-Op. I've also SLASO'd Halo 3 back in the day on my own (minus Iron). I've played the Campaigns a shit ton and am not bored of them to the point where I wouldn't do everything again. I am read for this collection. LASO is the only thing that looks annoying TBH - I've never enjoyed that aspect of the game and now it's out there. With Co-op on LASO at least someone can just make it to the next checkpoint. Wins, kills, medals are just a time investment that will happen. Remember than LASO with Co-Op partners may be a lot easier than doing it Solo, but if one of your buddies dies, you all have to start from the last checkpoint. So make sure your partners aren't stupid and that they communicate well I think it might actually be easier to do LASO with one other person than with a full group of four. RadZakpak
Really kind of annoying that people are saying they won't buy the game over some achievements. I love the achievements personally. This will be one hell of a game to complete. I really want them to be specific on if skulls like Bandana will be allowed for LASO, and if Blind is turned on. We need specifics! iBuzz7S
Halo: The Master Chief Collection > your existance. Fuck y'all. I don't think I will be buying another exclusive on the XB1 for a good 6 months, so here's to hundreds of hours of Halo!
The Elite Elite
I was just talking to my friend about that one. Looks like I'm gonna have to head on over to his house with my controller and two other friends to help him, then we all rotate the favor, lol. Bandana will definitely help…though Assassin's Skull for Halo 2 is going to render the LASO runs near impossible, don't you agree? There's also like 10+ new skulls that we know nothing of. Unfortunately for me, no one I know in person has an Xbox One. So either I have to buy two extra controllers or get the opportunity to meet up with an Xbox Live friend in real life to pick up that achievement. As for the assassin skull, I don't know. It's been so long since I've played Halo 2 (I'm trying to make it feel as fresh as possible when I start the campaign up next month) that I don't remember the skull specifics too well. I just know that between LASO and the split-screen achievements, I might not be able to 100% this Halo. But I can still try.

This will be one hell of a game to complete. I really want them to be specific on if skulls like Bandana will be allowed for LASO, and if Blind is turned on. We need specifics! As I mentioned before, Silver Skulls were usually never classified by the Halo community as legitimate LASO Skulls. This includes Cowbell (increased explosion radius), IWHBYD (random dialogue), Iron (restart mission upon death), and Blind (remove HUD and crosshair). Wait that said, I would hope 343 followed this "standard" that was once adopted by the Halo community and makes it so that Silver Skulls are not necessary for LASO achievements. If they are, Blind will prove to be a bitch when Assassin makes all enemies invisible. Halo: The Master Chief Collection > your existance. Fuck y'all. I only have 2 other friends with an Xbox One and we only all have one controller, so we might need to pool money in for a 4th controller for this achievement or something, lol. Kinda annoyed 343 did ONE MP-specific achievements, but didn't do anything else for the 6 remastered maps and anything. I know people wouldn't want MP achievements, but I woulda liked to see a few at least for the "overall cross-game" achievement portion of the list. Yeah, I haven't touched Halo 2's Campaign since 2006 or so and haven't thought of going back to it ever since, especially now I won't because go MCC, but Assassins Skull does indeed make every enemy invisible which seems kinda unfair Good luck with MCC, though, Elite. May you succeed in getting as many of the achievements as possible!
lifeexpectancy
Life, fancy some matchmaking or…dare I say…LASO? Agreed. People who are both complaining about the list and then also saying they're gonna pass because of the list are…well, the less said, the better. That would really suck. I'm glad Co-Op LASO is a viable option for this achievement. Not only will it make it a bit easier, but the memories to be shared with friends whilst going for it will be great. I just wonder if The Master Chief Saga playlist and the LASO playlists can be done in parts, rather than one stupid sitting. That's pretty legit! Kudos to them You bet your sweet ass I am. I don't get the hate. I think this is probably the greatest Halo achievement list ever. Lots of fan service, even as far as achievements named after the community. Lots of easter eggs, meaning people will see what it's like to do them rather than just watch them on youtube. Lots of challenging achievements, which are great and add replay value, not to mention separating the men from the boys (or the women from the girls, as it were). And yeah, ppl afraid of LASO should watch youtube vids before launch, b/c it's not nearly as hard as SLASO. I might still do the LASO playlist solo and record/upload it, but it's not as daunting as people think (I hope... damn you assassin skull). After having just gone through the rigors of Flawless Raider on Destiny, I'll risk my 100% again for this list, because it'll be worth every minute of it. Unfortunately for me, no one I know in person has an Xbox One. So either I have to buy two extra controllers or get the opportunity to meet up with an Xbox Live friend in real life to pick up that achievement. Are you in the USA? Because if so just go to your friendly neighborhood walmart and buy the 2-3 controllers you need, get the achievement, then take them back for a refund. I expect a significant spike in returned XB1 controllers at walmart sometime around mid-November. Lol. TwiK999
500 wins? I'm sure all the Halo 3 fans here have done 2500+ wins back in the day. So I don't get the hate for it? If only I could transfer my stats over. I hope they will have achievement progress trackers in the main menus. I think they will, seeing as a lot of games these days have them. Ham Woopan
Achievements aren't that bad except for the 4 controllers on one console. I was hoping for a bit more multiplayer achievements as an excuse to play each game's multiplayer. I'm glad there's no luck based ones they love to do like "Get a Triple Double in a multiplayer match while each player is in a different country and one of them is giving labor." But I'd like to see more general ones like "Kill 1000 players in each game's multiplayer." Oh well. I'll be completing this regardless. I like a good challenge and actually have fun playing shooters on the hardest difficulty. I'll spend most of my multiplayer time playing Halo 3 too. XoNiNjAlEoNoX
So, for the Megg easter egg in Halo 2 you have to complete Cairo Station without ever taking any shield damage. Well, I hope this can be done in co-op. Also, why are the LASO achievements playlist-related? This could mean there are not every level included in every playlist, making this a bit easier. BiggD
I can't believe I'm going to actually think of doing this, but I'm 100% positive I am going to write both the guide and roadmap for the game. I would only help that some of you dedicated bunch would be able to help with input on Easter Eggs and Par Time/Score achievements when the time comes. The guide won't be hard to write at all since CEA's and 3' and 4's list are pretty much the same as before. The Par Score achievements are what Meta Game Scoring used to be in Halo 3. So that's not hard to do if you know what that means. Most of the Eggs have direction on Halo Wiki, so again, I think this guide will be easy to right. If any one individual is willing to co-write with me, definitely let me know. I'm taking off on the 11th and 12th and will be playing and writing the guide all day for both days. Not sure if being sarcastic or we're actually agreeing on something for once. I like Halo, I really do. Also, why are the LASO achievements playlist-related? This could mean there are not every level included in every playlist, making this a bit easier. I don't think so. I think LASO has its own playlist so that it can properly track player progress. LASO was something players would manually have to set up and there was never any true way of tracking it. A LASo playlist seems like it would ensure saved progress, thus meaning you can come back to it at a point rather the do it all in one sitting. Metabolic XBA
I don't understand the hate, I think it's probably the best Halo list I've seen, mainly because they ditched all those achievements that are just begging to be boosted. I don't think it will be that much of a grind either. I can't find my stats for earlier Halo games because I don't know which iteration of my tag they are under but I know I played Halo 4 the least. I clocked just 30 hours all told and had 110 games won, 3166 kills and 6470 medals. They made a list for people who actually want to play the game for what it is and not for people who just want achievements, so what? Get over it. Achievements add a great value to a game for me, but a bad achievement list, or just one with a couple I do not like does not deter me from a quality package, and a quality package is an understatement with MCC.
