-Online: 0

This game is very simple to max out so long as you understand what achievements are missable and where to make key saves.

Introduction:

Welcome to Dragon Age: Origins. This is a 3rd person RPG that takes you on the journey of a Grey Warden. This road map will be written for those who wish to max out this game as quickly as possible. If you do not wish to play this way, you're looking at a minimum of four full playthroughs. Thankfully. the game has no achievements that require you to play on any difficulty other than the easiest setting. This makes difficult battles very easy to win. When the game was released, the DLCs (Warden's Keep and Stone Prisoner) both had glitched achievements. That problem has been fixed for anyone who buys the DLC now. For those who did have them glitch, they should be fixed with the next free title update which is being released on January 13, 2010.

Step 1: Preparation

Before we begin I highly recommend that you have this walkthrough handy in case you get lost or confused. The walkthrough shows you everything you need to know and where to find virtually everything in the game. In addition I also recommend that you have this website bookmarked. If you have a question about something within this game, you can almost guarantee that wiki will have an answer for you. With those two tools handy it's time to begin your first, and if you're trying to finish the game as quick as possible, only playthrough.

Step 2: Full Playthrough

This playthrough will be the longest and most involved step in the process. Begin a new game on the easiest difficulty setting. Your class and origin don't matter, but make sure it's one you'll like. Next, you'll want to complete your origin story to get that achievement. With your origin story complete you'll now need to start worrying about all the missable achievements. I'll address them all now.

Story Related Achievements: Below in the guide, you'll see that all the story related achievements are grouped into a section. Although not all are missable, many are. The reason for this is because you get an achievement for each side of the quest's main choice. This is why knowing the location of each key save noted under the achievement is critical. Failure to save at the right moments could result in you having to do another full playthrough.

Traveler: This achievement requires you to set foot in every area of the game. Make sure you are constantly checking this achievement's guide as many areas of the game are only available for a brief period of time.

Recruiter: Some of your companions are not storyline related and as such are missable. Be sure to check to see if you can recruit a member in any new area you enter. It is very easy to get this achievement in one playthrough.

Hopelessly Romantic: Although this achievement requires more than one playthrough, do your best to get three of the four romances done on your full playthrough. This will make it that much easier to get this achievement on your second partial playthrough. For the absolute fastest way to get this achievement, play as a female first. This way on your male playthrough you only have to romance Morrigan, who can be bedded the moment you hit your camp for the first time.

Menacing/Silver Tongued: The Coercion skill is your best friend when it comes to these achievements and therefore should be the first skill you focus on. Always choose intimidation options over persuasion ones as they occur less frequently.

Perfectionist: Although technically story related, I just wanted to ensure that you look at the locations of the key saves for this achievement. Failure to do so will result in your having to play the whole game again.

Stone's Lament: If you have the Stone Prisoner DLC ensure that you destroy the Anvil when given the opportunity. Otherwise Shale will leave your party and you miss out on getting this achievement's quest.

NOTE: Try to do as many of the miscellaneous achievements as you can this playthrough.

NOTE #2: The DLCs can be completed anytime after you leave your party camp for the first time.

Step 3: Partial Playthrough #2

With your full playthrough complete it's time to start mopping up everything else. Begin a new playthrough, again on the easiest setting, and choose a class, sex and origin story you haven't played yet. Complete the origin story and then use the leveling glitch described in Archmage to get to level 25. Continue playing until you get your final romance, Hopelessly Romantic and Blight-Queller to unlock. That's it for this playthrough.

Step 4: Partial Playthrough #3

This playthrough will be quick. Simply choose the last class you haven't played as well as an origin story you haven't played and play through until you can again do the leveling glitch. Once you hit level 20 with this character, spend all the talents points and then quit out.

Step 5: Origin Stories

For the final step, simply play through the remaining three origin stories you haven't chosen yet. It doesn't matter what class you choose for these so long as the origin story allows that class. It should take about an hour or so per origin story if you don't rush.

Conclusion:

That's it! If you still have a miscellaneous achievement left, load up one of you level 20+ characters and knock it out. Congrats on your 1100http://www.xbox360achievements.org/forum/../images/site/gp-g.jpg!

Story Related Achievements

NOTE: Many of the story related achievements are missable if you do not make a save prior to the quest's main choice. I have noted the spot you should save at for each quest in the achievement descriptions.

NOTE #2: Obviously these achievement descriptions contain spoilers so read at your own risk!

Completed Ostagar

This achievement is storyline related. It is begins after you complete your origin story and is awarded after you partake in the battle at Ostagar. You role in the battle is to fight your way to the top of the Tower of Ishal and light the beacon. This will signal Loghain to lead his men into the battle. After you light the beacon a cut scene will occur which I won’t describe to avoid spoilers. The achievement should pop after the cut scene.

Completed "The Arl of Redcliffe"

This quest has quite a few portions to it. First, you must enter Redcliffe Village and help defend it against waves of undead when night falls. Then you must enter Redcliffe Castle and evict the demon that has taken residence there. Next you must complete the quest entitled "The Urn of Sacred Ashes." After completing the quest, return to Redcliffe Castle and speak with Bann Teagan. Although it's odd, it seems that even if you chose not to take any ashes and defile them all, the game still registers that you took a little. This way when you return to the castle, you are always able to cure Arl Eamon and revive him. Once you tell Bann Teagan that you have found the urn a cut scene will occur and the achievement will unlock.

NOTE: If you complete "The Urn of Sacred Ashes" before evicting the demon, you are forced to give up the ashes right away.

Sided with the Cult of Andraste in "The Urn Of Sacred Ashes"

There are two ways to receive this quest. You can either save Castle Redcliffe from the demon within it or go to Brother Genitivi's house in the Denerim Market District. Once you have the quest, the Village of Haven will appear on the map. Go there and meet Brother Genitivi who will take you to the Ruined Temple. Fight you way through the temple until you meet with the Cult of Andraste's leader, Kolgrim. Agree to help him and take the vial of dragon's blood. Continue through the Gauntlet until you see an altar with a wall of fire behind it, save here. When you approach the urn choose the option "Pour dragon's blood into the Urn" and this achievement will unlock.

NOTE: If Wynne and/or Leliana are in your party they will attack you for defiling the ashes, but you must do this to learn the Reaver specialization.

Defeated the dragon guarding the Urn of Sacred Ashes

This missable achievement is earned while doing the quest called "The Urn of Sacred Ashes." To summon the dragon to fight you must kill Kolgrim and all the cultists on the Mountaintop then head towards the caverns. At the bottom of the stairs, still on the Mountaintop, there will be a gong. Activate the gong to summon the dragon. Here's a strategy for beating the dragon if you're having trouble

NOTE: The dragon drops dragon scales which you need to get dragon scale armor. Also in the PC version of the game the dragon is summoned by blowing Kolgrim's Horn which you loot off of his corpse.

Sided with the mages in "Broken Circle"

This storyline achievement is missable if you choose to have the Templars take all of the mages into their custody. When fighting Uldred at the the top of the Mage's Tower, be sure to use the Litany to prevent any mages from becoming abominations. After you have defeated Uldred, talk to Irving and tell him you want to look around a bit. Save your game at this point. After you save talk to Irving again. This will take you into a conversation with Irving, Cullen and Greagoir. When the dialogue option "I believe order has been restored to the circle" appears, choose it. Choosing this option will give you the achievement. The achievement pops after the conversation with Irving is over.

Sided with the werewolves in "Nature of the Beast"

This storyline achievement is very deceiving and missable. Save your game before speaking to the Gatekeeper in the Werewolves’ Lair. After talking to the gatekeeper you will meet the spirit and engage in a dialogue. In order to side with the Werewolves and actually slay the elves you must persuade Swiftrunner and the Lady of the Forest to help you. To persuade them you must have a coercion skill of three and a cunning attribute of 14. Although having a cunning attribute higher than 12 and a coercion skill of two may work, I would just make sure the skill is at level three to be safe. If you cannot persuade them to attack the elves’ camp, every other outcome of this mission will award you the Poacher achievement.

This storyline achievement is missable if you choose to persuade the werewolves to slay the elves at their camp. Save your game before speaking to the Gatekeeper in the Werewolves’ Lair. After talking to the gatekeeper you will meet the spirit and engage in a dialogue. So long as you don’t try and persuade the werewolves to slay all the elves at their camp, every other outcome of this mission will award you this achievement.

Sided with Bhelen in "A Paragon of Her Kind"

This missable achievement is obtained after entering Orzammar and witnessing the chaos as Bhelen and Harrowmont jostle for the title of King. It does not matter who's first task you complete as this is not where you actually side with anyone. After you complete either Bhelen and Harrowmont's first task their subsequent tasks are the same. Play through the Anvil of the Void storyline and be sure to net Pragmatist and Liberator. After you choose Caradin or Branka they'll forge a new crown for you to name the new king, save your game! Then, fast travel back to Orzammar and choose Bhelen option. After the cutscene, the achievement unlocks.

Destroyed the Anvil of the Void

This missable achievement is obtained after entering Orzammar and doing the tasks for either Bhelen or Harrowmont. After you complete either Bhelen and Harrowmont's first task their subsequent tasks are the same. After you kill the Carta leader, Jarvia, you will be sent to find the paragon, Branka which also opens up the Anvil of the Void storyline. Enter the Deep Roads and fight your way to the Anvil of the Void area. After you defeat the pillar with the rotating heads, save your game. When you meet Caridin and Branka enters, choose the dialogue option "The Anvil enslaves living souls! It must be destroyed," then choose "We have to destroy the Anvil, Branka," finally choose "That's not a risk I'm willing to take." After the battle, speak with Caridin. Once you are done speaking with him, this achievement will unlock.

After the battle, speak with Branka. Once you are done speaking with her, this achievement will unlock.

NOTE: Obviously you shouldn't convince Branka to destroy the Anvil after the battle if you want this achievement.

Used the Grey Warden treaties to recruit all possible allies

Once you complete the quests "Nature of the Beast," Broken Circle," "The Arl of Redcliffe" and "A Paragon of Her Kind" you will need to talk with Arl Eamon to begin the Landsmeet. If you are unsure that you have gathered all the treaties look in your camp by the Allied Supply Crates. If you have four emissaries standing there, you've gathered all the treaties. This achievement will unlock after your conversation with Loghain.

After you complete the quest in the Elven Alienage and discover that Loghain has been helping the slave trade, talk to Arl Eamon in his estate. He will tell you he is beginning the Landsmeet and to come to the Royal Palace. When you arrive at the palace, Cauthrien will attack you. The chamber you fight her in is the point of no return. Enter the doors and begin the Landsmeet. The Landsmeet ends with you only able to keep Alistair or Loghain in your party.

During the "Final Battle" quest, after you enter Redcliffe Castle and speak with Riordan about how a Grey Warden must die to slay the Archdemon, Morrigan will be waiting for you in your room. Once you enter the room, she will make you an offer that will proposes no one must die to defeat the Archdemon. Accept her offer and take her with you to slay the Archdemon to gain this achievement.

The ultimate sacrifice was made in defense of Ferelden

You must decline Morrigan's offer for this achievement. Depending on your choices at the Landsmeet, after you defeat the Archdemon in the final battle, you will have the option to sacrifice Alistair/Loghain or yourself. It doesn't matter who strikes the final blow so long as one of the three characters mentioned is sacrificed. This achievement will pop after the scene showing the Archdemon's death.

Preserved the lives of half the troops at Denerim's Gates in "The Final Battle"

The Final Battle begins once you march to Denerim. There are several ways to ensure the survival of the troops. Here are a few tips in order of importance.

- Simply don't summon them with your radial menu. Use your party to kill everything and you don't risk losing troops in battle.

- Have the game on the easiest difficulty setting

- Upgrade their equipment through the use of the Allied Supply Crates in your campsite.

- Use area of effect spells to take out large hordes of Darkspawn

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/forum/../images/achievements/1057/+a3JWA==.jpgPerfectionist - 50 http://www.xbox360achievements.org/forum/../images/site/gp-g.jpg

Across all playthroughs, discovered all possible endings

This achievement is possible to do in one playthrough if you save carefully. In total there are four endings *SPOILERS AHEAD*:

- Use Morrigan's Dark Ritual to kill the Archdemon without sacrificing any Wardens

- Sacrifice yourself to defeat the Archdemon

- Sacrifice Alistair to defeat the Archdemon

- Sacrifice Loghain to defeat the Archdemon

I will now cover how you get all four endings in one playthrough step by step.

NOTE: Make sure you bring the appropriate characters with you depending on the ending you're going for

NOTE #2: You do not have to have a save after watching each ending. Watching them is enough for the achievement.

1) Make SAVE 1 outside the Landsmeet Chamber where you encounter Cauthrien (provided you didn't kill her earlier).

2) Choose to make Loghain a Grey Warden (Alistair leaves the party)

3) Meet with Riordan and then make SAVE 2

4) Turn down Morrigan's offer (Morrigan leaves the party) and make SAVE 3 before you enter the roof to the final battle

5) Kill the Archdemon by sacrificing the main character

6) Reload SAVE 3

7) Kill the Archdemon by sacrificing Loghain

8) Reload SAVE 2

9) Accept Morrigan's offer and kill the Archdemon

10) Reload SAVE 1

11) Choose to kill Loghain to keep Alistair in the party

12) Turn down Morrigan's offer (Morrigan leaves the party)

13) Kill the Archdemon by sacrificing Alistair

Completed an origin story without the main character ever falling in battle

Obviously when you are doing an origin story you are at a low level without any good equipment. To avoid falling in battle be sure that the difficulty setting is on Easy. This is the best way to ensure your survival as enemies will not hit nearly as hard as they do on harder settings. Also, don’t be afraid to use your health potions. You will get plenty of them later on so there’s no reason to conserve. Last, don’t rush into a group of enemies. Instead do your best to funnel them and take them on one by one. If you do those things you probably won’t even get close to death. Plus, since there are six achievements for completing origin stories you have six meaningful opportunities to get this achievement.

Main character achieved level 20 as a mage

The Master of Arms, Shadow and Archmage achievements all require that you reach level 20 AND spend all your earned points with each respective class. The absolute fastest way to level up your character is to use the leveling glitch. This glitch is done right after you complete your origin story. All you need to do is accept the mission from Duncan to go to the forest to grab some vials of Darkspawn blood and some old Warden scrolls. After you collect the Darkspawn blood but before you collect the scrolls, return to Duncan and tell him you have the blood but no scrolls. You can do this over and over again for experience. For a more visual explanation of the glitch watch this video

.

If you glitch your character past level 20 you will not get the achievement. Spend your points exactly at level 20. It is also important to note that this glitch has already been patched on the PS3. If it is patched on the 360 you have two options. The first option is to clear your cache, do the glitch but don’t spend the points, re-download the patch, load up your character and then spend the points. Alternately you can get the achievements legitimately by playing the game. The fastest way to do gain experience legit is to do as many quests as possible, find codexes, disarm every trap and fight every enemy you can find.

Main character learned two specializations

Specializations are options that give your character an additional four talent/spells to choose from. You will receive a specialization point when you hit levels 7 and 14. You can use the points anytime you level up after receiving them. The most difficult part of specializations is learning them. They can be learned from a variety of sources whether it be books you purchase from vendors, companions that teach them to you or quests that grant them to you. Once you unlock a specialization though, it is unlocked permanently so your future characters will not have to learn them. Below is a list of all the game’s specializations and the location of where you can get them. For a more detailed description of each specialization click HERE.

Warrior Specializations:

Berserker – Learned from Oghren or bought from Gorim in the Denerim marketplace.

Champion Completing the Urn of Sacred Ashes and curing Arl Eamon will unlock the Champion specialization if his offer for a reward is not turned down.

ReaverAt the end of the Urn of Sacred Ashes quest, pour the blood into the urn and speak with Kolgrim outside. He will teach you the Reaver specialization.

TemplarBodahn Feddic sells a Templar manual or Alistair can teach the specialization

Rogue Specializations:

Assassin Zevran will teach you or you can buy it from Alarith's Store in Denerim (Elven Alienage)

BardLeliana can teach you or it can be bought from Alimar in Dust Town within Orzammar

RangerYou can buy the manual from Bodahn Feddic

DuelistTaught by Isabela at The Pearl in Denerim

Mage Specializations:

Arcane Warrior – Unlocked during the "Nature of the Beast" quest from the phylactery in the Lower Ruins.

Shapeshifter – Morrigan can teach you or bought from Varathorn in the Dalish Camp.

Spirit HealerYou can buy it in Denerim in Wonders of Thedas or from Levi Dryden in the Warden's Keep (DLC) after you complete that quest.

Blood Mage – Learned from the Desire Demon during the Arl of Redcliffe quest.

Romance Achievements

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/forum/../images/achievements/1057/+4zA7Q==.jpgHopelessly Romantic - 25 http://www.xbox360achievements.org/forum/../images/site/gp-g.jpg

Across all playthroughs, experienced all possible romances

In total there are four romances that you must experience in order to earn this achievement. Some of the characters go “both ways” while others are completely straight. This means that you will need to play as both a male and a female character to get this achievement. I personally found it easier to court someone and save before sleeping with them, then revert back to that save after having the romance. This made it easier to court them one after the other in the same playthrough without encountering all the “it’s them or me” dialogue drama. I played as a male character first and I was able to romance Morrigan, Zevran and Leliana (in that order) in the same playthough. Then I just made a female and went back for Alistair. The best ways to earn favor with a companion are to do the following:

- Give them the gifts they like. Some gifts they will like more than others. Some gifts even cause you to engage in a unique dialogue with them. To know who to give what gifts refer HERE.

- Engage in conversations with them. This can be done anywhere, but it’s best to do it in your campsite. Be sure to keep their personalities in mind when you are responding and always choose the romantic options whenever possible.

- Follow their ethical code when you take them on missions with you. Although it is possible to court them without ever taking them on a mission, if you do take them out, acting by their ethical code is just free favor points that make courting them that much easier.

- Make sure that you avoid calling them a friend. Always choose romance options. Choosing friend dialogue options will sometimes spoil your chances at bedding them.

Below are the four characters that you must romance along with some important information:

Morrigan: Morrigan is a human female mage that will only sleep with male characters. She generally follows an evil code of ethics and wants a “bad boy.” She is also one of the easiest characters to sleep with. I slept with her the first time I got to our campsite. Simply follow the options in this thread and you’ll bed her down in no time.

Alistair: Alistair is a human male warrior that will only sleep with female characters. He generally follows and good and righteous code of ethics and wants a “good girl” who appreciates his offbeat humor.

Leliana: Leliana is a human female rogue that will sleep with male or female characters. She generally follows a good and fair code of ethics and wants a “good boy” who will loves her shoes and shows interest in her boring bard stories. She is very annoying to sleep with though as she doesn’t offer it up even when favor is at 100%. The two ways to fix this are to complete her personal quest and/or get her a cute Nug as a pet.

Zevran: Zevran is an elven male rogue that will will sleep with male or female characters. As a former assassin he generally follows a more evil code of ethics, however he really doesn't care about what type of person you are as long as you want him. He usually sleeps with you at around 60% affection so he's good to do early on.

Lastly, SupremeRapier has made a romance guide that goes into more detail than I did above. It can be found by clicking HERE.

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/forum/../images/achievements/1057/UP4N3bY=.jpgFirst Knight - 10 http://www.xbox360achievements.org/forum/../images/site/gp-g.jpg

Experienced the thrill of romance with Alistair

Alistair is more difficult to romance than Morrigan or Zevran. He likes it when you show interest in his offbeat humor and follow a good and moral code of ethics. At around 70% favor the option to sleep with him appears. Don't take it or you'll end up with negative favor. You need around 90% to sleep with him. Last, there a few gifts he loves in Redcliffe. See Hopelessly Romantic for more general information on romancing.

Experienced the thrill of romance with Morrigan

Morrigan is one the easiest of the four possible companions to romance however she only sleeps with males. She is very loose and you can sleep with her the first time you enter your campsite. To do this follow the dialogue choices listed in this thread. I recommend reloading a previous save after you romance her so you can focus on someone else for your current playthrough. See Hopelessly Romantic for more general information on romancing.

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/forum/../images/achievements/1057/UPvaLB0=.jpgEasy Lover - 10 http://www.xbox360achievements.org/forum/../images/site/gp-g.jpg

Experienced the thrill of romance with Zevran

Zevran is the easiest of all the companions to romance, hence the achievement name. He can be romanced by either a male or female. When you talk to him in the campsite be sure to always complement him and pick the options with sexual innuendos. Once his approval is around 70% you can ask him to come to your tent. See Hopelessly Romantic for more general information on romancing.

Experienced the thrill of romance with Leliana

Leliana is much more difficult to romance than say Morrigan or Zevran. Her only redeeming quality is that she will sleep with either a male or female. She likes it when you show interest in her stories, compliment her (and her shoes) and follow a good and moral code of ethics. Many people have trouble "sealing the deal" with her if you will. I found that I had to do her personal side quest 'Leliana's Past' first. After the quest was complete, talk to her in your camp and the option to sleep with her should come up if your favor is high enough. If it still doesn't come up then your last resort is to buy her a Cute Nug from Idle Dwarf in Dust Town. See Hopelessly Romantic for more general information on romancing.

Completed a Chanter's Board quest

Your first opportunity to get this achievement is when you first enter the village of Lothering. Before you enter the Chantry’s outer courtyard you will be a Chanter’s Board. All the quests listed on it can be completed in the area you are currently in. Simply accept one (or all) of the listed quests and complete it/them. When you turn the quest in to the man standing next to the board, this achievement will unlock. See Mercenary for the location of all Chanter's Boards.

Set foot in every area in the game

Must be done in one playthrough. This is probably the hardest achievement in the game because it's so ambiguous. Below is a list of the missable locations in the game needed for this achievement. You must set foot in every one of them. If you go to the locations below as well as all the locations the main storyline takes you, the achievement should pop when you step onto the roof at Fort Drakon. You should know that it doesn't have to say you've explored 100% of the world for this achievement. Some areas counted in that percentage don't count for this achievement. Thanks to Thrash for finding the list below. You can view his original thread HERE.

LOTHERING:

- Dane's Refuge

NOTE: Lothering will be destroyed by Darkspawn once you leave so be sure to enter this pub as soon as you enter the village.

Killed 1000 darkspawn

Darkspawn come in many different varieties, but the ones you will be killing the most of are Hurlocks and Genlocks. For a complete list of all Darkspawn click HERE. It is very possible to get all 1000 kills in one playthrough. You will kill a lot of Darkspawn in the final battle which will also help quite a bit. I recommend having around 750 Darkspawn kills before the Landsmeet if you want this in one playthrough. I personally got this achievement in Fort Drakon during the final battle of my first playthrough,

NOTE: As stated, this does not have to be done in one playthrough, it is across ALL playthroughs. I actually only had 361 Darkspawn kills according to my Heroic Accomplishments when Master Warden popped. Also, you can check how many kills you have by going to your character menu and looking up your Heroic Accomplishments. This is in the same part as your quest log and codexes.

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/forum/../images/achievements/1057/+mw4fg==.jpgRecruiter - 25 http://www.xbox360achievements.org/forum/../images/site/gp-g.jpg

Across all playthroughs, recruited all party members

There are a total of nine companions that you must recruit to get this achievement. It is quite possible to get all of the companions recruited in just one playthrough if you try. The most important thing to remember is to never deny a companion's services once they offer them to you. If you do they won't join the party and you'll have to do another playthrough. Below is a list of all the companions with some relevant information about each.

NOTE: All characters marked with a * are missable since you will not meet them if you only follow the main storyline.

Alistair (Warrior): Alistair is the first companion you will have enter your party. He is recruited automatically. In other words you can't NOT recruit him.

Morrigan (Mage): Morrigan is the second companion you will have enter your party. She is also recruited automatically. In other words, like Alistair you can't NOT recruit her.

*Dog (Warrior): Your Dog (I named mine Barney) is recruited one of two ways. If you do the Human Noble origin story you will recruit him automatically. If not, you will need to do the quest entitled "Mabari Hound" in Ostagar after your complete your origin story. The most important thing to do during this quest is to always choose the dialogue option that shows interest in having the dig imprinted on you. The dog will join your party after the events of Ostagar as you're traveling to Lothering.

*Leliana (Rogue): Leliana is recruited when you first enter the town of Lothering. Go into the pub called Dane's Refuge. Upon entering the pub some of Loghain's men will attack you. Leliana will aid you in the battle. Afterwards you can have her join the party.

*Sten (Warrior): Sten is recruited when you first enter the town of Lothering. He is locked in a cage just outside town. Tell him you are a Grey Warden and could use his help. Telling him you'll ask if the Revered Mother in the Chantry will free free him will give you the the quest "The Qunari Prisoner." Visit the Revered Mother in the Chantry and persuade her to release Sten to you. Return to Sten again and he will join your party if you ask him. NOTE: If you take Leliana with you when you talk to the Revered Mother, she will help you convince her to release Sten to you.

Zevran (Rogue): After you complete your first treaty mission, you will see a cut scene showing Loghain paying Zevran to kill you. After that you will get a random encounter with him where he and some mercenaries try to kill you. After you defeat them, you can ask him to join your party.

Wynne (Mage): You will encounter Wynne in the Mage's tower during the "Broken Circle" quest. She will be protecting some children and will volunteer to help you protect the tower. After you complete the entire quest she will volunteer to come with you. At that time you can accept her into the party.

Oghren (Warrior): As you progress the story in Orzammar, whoever you're supporting, be it Bhelen of Harrowmont, will send you into the Deep Roads to find the paragon Branka. As you make your way out of the Commons to the Deep Roads, Oghren will confront you and ask to go with you to find Branka, who he says is his wife. Allow him to come along with you and he will join the party.

Loghain (Warrior): After you enter the Landsmeet it will end in a big brawl that ends when the Revered Mother calls for peace. Then it will be agreed that you must duel Loghain. Agree to be Alistair's Champion and defeat Loghain. After the duel, agree to let Loghain become a Grey Warden and he will join your party at the expense of Alistair.

Shale (Warrior): Shale is not required for this achievement but is one of the best companions in the game. If you have downloaded the Stone Prisoner DLC, you can have her join your party after the "The Golem in Honnleath" mission is complete.

Succeeded at 25 difficult Persuasion attempts

Successful persuasion attempts depend on how high your Cunning attribute and Coercion skill are. I recommend getting a high coercion skill as early as possible to ensure that you have plenty of opportunities to use it throughout the playthrough. You will know that you have an opportunity to persuade someone when a dialogue option has "[Persuade]" next to it. If you have a Coercion skill of four, you will almost never fail at a persuasion attempt so level that skill up first to give yourself more chances for success. I recommend always choosing "[intimidate]" options before persuade options if you're trying to get both Silver Tongued and Menacing in the same playthrough. This is because Intimidate options are much rarer than persuade options.

NOTE: Saving and reloading before a conversation with a persuasion option will not work. The game only counts it if you keep playing.

Succeeded at 10 difficult Intimidate attempts

Successful intimidation attempts depend on how high your Strength attribute and Coercion skill are. This of course means that warriors will usually have a much easier time intimidating someone than say a mage. You will know that you have an opportunity to intimidate someone when a dialogue option has "[intimidate]" next to it. If you have a Coercion skill of four, you will almost never fail at an intimidation attempt so level that skill up first to give yourself more chances for success. I recommend always choosing Intimidate options before Persuade options if you're trying to get both Silver Tongued and Menacing in the same playthrough. Crafted an item

To craft an item you must have at least one skill point invested into either the Trap-Making, Herbalism or Poison-Making skill. After that point is invested you can then pull up the radial menu with http://www.xbox360achievements.org/forum/../images/misc/lt.png and select the appropriate skill. You will then be brought to the in-game crafting screen where you will see a list of the recipes you know on the right and the ingredients needed on the left. So long as you have all of the ingredients and appropriate skill level, you should be able to make the potion/poison/trap. You need only craft one item to get this achievement. For a full list of recipes click HERE.

Used a tome to improve the main character's attributes, talents, spells, or skills

Although some Tomes can be found or received, most of them are sold to you from vendors. The first opportunity you have to buy a tome is when you go to your campsite and talk to the dwarf merchant Bodahn. He sells a Tome of Physical Technique and a Tome of Arcane Technique. To use the tome, highlight it in your inventory and press http://www.xbox360achievements.org/forum/../images/misc/a.png, when you exit the menu the tome will activate and the achievement will pop. For a complete list of Tomes and their locations click HERE.

NOTE: Sometimes tomes become unusable if you have more than one in your inventory. The best way I found to solve this was the either move the tomes you’re not using to junk or drop them in your storage chest at Soldier’s Peak if you have the DLC.

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/forum/../images/achievements/1057/UP3-FYw=.jpgHeavy Hitter - 10 http://www.xbox360achievements.org/forum/../images/site/gp-g.jpg

Main character inflicted 250 damage with a single hit

This is actually quite an easy achievement to get. There are a myriad of strategies that one can use to get this achievement but some are easier than others. Below I have listed a strategy for each class.

Mage: Purchase the skill called "Mana Clash" and use it against a spell casting foe. The first time I used it I did 307 damage but I've heard it can hit upwards of 700 if used against certain foes.

Warrior: Hardest of all the classes to get 250+ with, but still quite manageable. Simply become a berserker with a good two handed weapon (like Starfang) and use the talent "Final Blow" with full stamina on a weaker enemy.

Rogue: Purchase the talent named "Arrow of Slaying" from the archery tree. I've personally seen this talent do upwards of 700 damage on some foes.

DLC Achievements

Completed ''Soldier's Peak'' (Warden’s Keep DLC)

If you have the Warden’s Keep DLC, you will find a character named Levi Dryden sitting in your campsite. Speak to him about his tale and he will ask for your help in uncovering his family’s past. He will ask you to meet him at the Warden’s Keep at Soldier’s Peak. Meet him there and simply complete the quest line anyway you want. Once you complete the quest this achievement will unlock.

NOTE: After you kill the demon possessed Sophia, she will always drop the Warden Commander armor set. In addition to those three pieces she has a small chance to drop the Warden Tower Shield. I suggest you save before fighting her if you want this shield. I only had to kill her five times before she dropped it while others had about fifty or so tries. Bottom line, the drop of the shield is pure luck.

Took advantage of Avernus's research (Warden’s Keep DLC)

After you fight the demonized Sophia Dryden on the top floor of the Warden's Keep, during the Soldier's Peak quest, the barrier blocking the door outside will be lifted. Go out this door and cross the stone bridge with several leghold traps on it. After crossing the bridge you will enter into Avernus's Laboratory. In between the two doors leading up to the main part of the lab is a table with a potion on it. Drinking this potion will grant you two Power if Blood spells/talents as well as unlock this achievement. As far as I can tell there's no favor penalty from any of your companions for drinking the potion. The spells/talents the potion grants are dependent on your class. Completed ''The Golem in Honnleath'' (The Stone Prisoner DLC)

This achievement requires that you have downloaded the Stone Prisoner DLC. Once you have access to the world map you will see a location called Sulcher's Pass. Go there and you will speak to a stranded merchant named Felix. He will give you a control rod and password for a Stone Golem located in the village Honnleath for free. After you are done speaking with Felix, leave and head to Honnleath which should now be on your map. Enter the village and complete the quest anyway you see fit. After you have released your Golem companion, Shale, the achievement will unlock.

Completed ''A Golem's Memories'' (The Stone Prisoner DLC)

This is Shale's personal quest. To receive this quest you must have Shale in your party and Destroy the Anvil of the Void, but Shale doesn't have to be in your party when you destroy the Anvil. Just to be safe I recommend recruiting Shale before doing the Anvil's quest. After the Anvil is destroyed, if Shale is in your party you'll receive this quest. If she's not, talk to her at camp to get it. Once you have the quest, travel to Caridin's Cross in the Deep Roads. Once you enter the area, Shale will mark the location Cadash Thaig on your map. Travel there and fight your way to the Golem Monument. Once you examine the monument the achievement will unlock.

Defeated the ogre that killed King Cailan (Return to Osatagar DLC)

After you get past the events at Lothering, travel to Bann Loren's Lands to start this DLC. There you will talk to Elric and learn that there is a chest with the King's personal items still at Ostagar that needs to be secured. After learning this you can travel back to Ostagar. Upon arriving you will fight a lot of Darkspawn, some of which drop Cailen's Armor pieces. After you're done fighting, move to Elric's Buried Stash and get the Key to the Royal Arms Chest. Then loot Cailen's chest using the key to open it. Next, cross the bridge where you will encounter a rather gruesome sight followed by a battle. After the battle head into the Tower of Ishal and then through the Darkspawn Tunnels to the Battlefield. Upon entering the battlefield you will enter a battle against the Risen Ogre. After you slay this Ogre and this battle ends, the achievement will unlock. For a complete list of all the new items that come with this DLC click HERE.

Keep the initial ogre alive as your thrall throughout the entire module. (Darkspawn Chronicles)

This achievement is fairly easy to unlock if you know what you're doing. If you follow the steps listed under Enthralling, you should unlock this achievement easily. There are really only two points in the DLC that may make this achievement difficult.

- After you separate from your Orge after entering the palace district, some people enthrall the wrong Ogre. The one you want to enthrall is the one standing behind the gate, not the one that appears after the gate is opened.

- The hardest battle to keep the Ogre alive in is the one with Sten, the two Golems and his army of dwarves. Be sure to follow step #7 under Enthralling and you will prevail and your ogre will survive. If you do find yourself in trouble though, remember that in addition to health poultices, your Hurlock Emissary has a heal spell.

Earned maximum approval from all thrall types. (Darkspawn Chronicles)

To earn this achievement, you will need to enthrall and earn maximum approval from the following allies:

- Genlock

- Hurlock

- Ogre

- Shriek

- Hurlock Emissary

- Blight Wolf

Approval is earned in two ways. You can get it by either killing enemies or giving gifts. Gifts can be acquired only by looting bosses so be sure to do so, otherwise you'll miss out on easy approval points. Using the steps below, you should be able to get this achievement in one easy playthrough. Thanks to ImmortalLeoman for his help with these. His original post is HERE.

NOTE: I'm not sure whether or not this has to be done in on playthrough or not. However if you follow the steps below, you'll get it in one playthrough easily.

1. When the game begins, a Genlock will appear behind you. Once the objective arrow is above its head, enthrall it. Next run out the gate an enthrall one of the Hurlocks. Fight your way over to the Ogre with the objective above it's head. Enthrall the Ogre immediately and then finish off killing every enemy in this area. By the time you're supposed to go to the Market District, your Genlock and Hurlock should be close to maximum approval. Give whichever one is at higher approval a gift so its bar is at max (my Hurlock was at higher approval so I maxed it out). Enter the Market District.

2. In the Market District, kill your maxed out Hurlock or Genlock and enthrall the Shriek. After you use your Shriek to kill the ballista guards, bring your party back to the beginning of the area. Next, put your party on hold and venture forth with your Vanguard only. Just hang out around the ballistas and you should get a never ending, albeit slow, stream of city guards attacking you. This is the perfect place to max out everyone's approval in your party. Once you've maxed out everyone's approval and killed 10 innocents, allow your party to move freely again. Now you party should be You, Hurlock/Genlock, Shriek and Ogre. Do the quests in this area. The quests are very simple so don't worry about one of your thralls dieing. By the end of this area, your remaining Hurlock/Genlock should be maxed out, if not use a gift. Move on to the Elven Alienage.

NOTE: You don't need to enthrall the Genlock Sapper in this area; just walk him over to the gate.

3. In the Elven Alienage, once you have control of your party, kill your Hurlock/Genlock and enthrall the Hurlock Emissary here. The Hurlock Emissary has the heal power which will help keep your other thralls alive. Do the quests here and set fire to the Alienage's Tree and the oil/rubbish piles. Move on to the Palace District once complete.

4. At the start of the Palace District your Ogre is taken away from you. This is okay and is supposed to happen; you get him back in a little bit. Don't enthrall a fourth party member at this time. Instead, put your party on Hold Position again and go to the right and kill the dwarfs. Like in the Market District, there is a never ending stream of Dwarves to kill here. They come out of the door immediately to the left of the ballista. Once your Hurlock Emissary is at 100% approval, allow your party to move freely again. Now go left up the stairs and fight your way to the two levers. Your Shriek should be near max at this point, and if not give him a gift. Kill the Shriek, and pull the levers to open the gate. Enthrall THE FIRST OGRE AT THE GATE, NOT THE ONE THAT COMES OUT AFTER YOU OPEN THE GATE. If you mess this up your will forfeit the Ogre's Keeper achievement. You will know you have the right one if the one you enthrall has max approval. With that settled, enthrall the Blight Wolf. Your party should now be You, Ogre, Blight Wolf and Hurlock Emissary. Ogre and Hurlock Emissary should be at max so give all your gifts to the Blight Wolf. Go up to the next level and kill the enemies. The Blight Wolf should hit maximum favor at this point.

5. If the Blight Wolf doesn't hit max favor here, bring your party back to the bottom of the stairs and have them hold position. Then run back up to the top of the stairs and fight the never ending stream of Dwarves here until the Blight Wolf is at max.

6. Congrats, you've unlocked Enthralling.

7. After you take out all the enemies at the top of the stairs, bring your party to the left side of the big gate at the top. Kill the dwarves here and then set your party to hold position at the bottom of the stairs. The next battle is the hardest of the DLC so be warned. With your party on hold, slowly creep to the top of the stairs. With any luck one of the golems and some dwarves should attack you and Sten should not be alerted. Kill all these enemies first then allow your party to move freely and then kill rest of the bunch up here. Above all, make sure your Ogre doesn't die!

8. After the battle is over, your Blight Wolf will become "unenthralled." Go to the far right side as you face the end of the area and release and enthrall the Shriek here. Head towards the exit and leave to Fort Drakon. After the cut scene, loot Riordan's body and again leave to the top of Fort Drakon.

9. The battle here is very simple since you have so many reinforcements. Make sure that you just focus on the heroes (especially Alistair) and ignore the other enemies. Use your emissary to heal any party members that are wounded and above all, keep your Ogre alive! After the battle is over, both Bane of Thedas and Ogre's Keeper should unlock.

10. Congrats on beating this DLC!

I'm curious, why did this replace the other guide?
In the end we just decided that Flea's guide lacked a lot of key information and wasn't getting updated with the input people were posting in his guide's thread. His guide's replacement is by no means a personal attack on him or a move to cause drama. We just wanted to have up a guide that did a better job explaining things. After all this game has a large margin for error if you don't understand where to save and what's missable. I hope that explains it for you and again, thanks to SportyFlea for his orginal guide.

I'm already finished with the story, and almost done with the achievements (should be finished today), but shouldn't you put spoilers around the descriptions/guides for the secret achievements? The original guide ruined it for me because it lacked the spoiler tags.

Edit: And also around the description/guide of the Perfectionist achievement.

Don't take this the wrong way, but I can't stand it when people complain about reading spoilers in a guide/walkthrough. If you're that concerned about not ruining any aspect of the story then don't read anything about it. It's simple really. A guide is by default a spoiler filled document. Anyone who reads it is doing so voluntarily and therefore accepts the risk that some story items might get spoiled for them. I put in a spoilers warning at the top of the Story achievements and in the Perfectionist achievement already. If someone gets something ruined for them because of this guide it's their fault at this point not mine. I know that was rather blunt, but that subject just gets me riled up. Maybe I need a nap :).

Hey everybody I have a questions about the Hopelessly Romantic achievement. So in my first playthrough I played all the way through the game and got both Morrigan and Zevran. Now I'm going through again to get the last two people. However after the game i needed more space for my hardrive so i deleted my first character and all his saves. Will this affect getting the achievement because I erased the playthrough that I got Morrigan amd Zevran??

Sorry for the delayed responses, I've been away for the last few days.

The achievement is across all of your playthroughs. I never actually saved my game after having any of the four romances and still got Hopelessly Romantic. I think you should be just fine.
The noble storyline's mabari did not count for my recruiter achievement. Recruiter popped up during my 2nd playthrough when the Ostagar mabari joined.
Interesting. I played the Human Noble origin second so I can't say for sure why this happened. Others I have talked to had it unlock on their playthrough as a Human. If anyone else has had this happen too, please post it here and I'll change the guide.

so does the fade in the "arl of redcliffe" quest definitely positively count towards the traveler achievement?if it does then FUCK,i knew i couldn't kill a child without any consequences:(
I am not 100% positive that it is required. There are way too many lists out there to be 100% sure. The list posted by Thrash, although small, seems to be working for everyone. I'm still scouring this forum and others to see if someone has a definite list. Sorry I can't be of more help.

Can the Traveler achievement be done through multiple playthroughs or must it be done through one?

Hey there.

Unfortunately, Traveler can only be unlocked across one playthrough, the best thing you can do is to either blast through it in one playthrough, or load up a save before the Landsmeet, go to the locations you missed and then finish the game again to visit all locations.

As well as the list above in the guide, there is also one made by Thrash, which seems to have had some sucess for others (I've yet to get around to it).

The list by Thrash is found here: http://www.xbox360achievements.org/forum/showthread.php?t=198322

Good luck!

hi is there an easy way to get these achievements.
The fastest way to get these is to invest into the Coercion skill as early as possible. You'll need a cunning of 16 to max it out which you'll definitely want to do before you invest in any other skills. With that skill maxed out you simply need to talk to everyone you can find and exhaust all dialogue options. I recommend you always choose intimidation over persuasion if you have a choice. There's no "trick" you can use for these to get them in five minutes, you actually have to play the game until you get them. If you're looking for intimidation attempts, Redcliffe Village has five attempts you can try when you're preparing the defenses before the undead onslaught.

As well as the list above in the guide, there is also one made by Thrash, which seems to have had some sucess for others (I've yet to get around to it).
FYI I changed the guide a few days ago to reflect Thrash's thread. It seemed the right thing to do given everyone's success with it; so you can actually just look at the list above :)
