N-Forced
So this means that if I rent one of those games I will not be able to play it online? That's pretty fucked up if you ask me. Sound like I will be staying away from EA Sports titles in the future, although it's not like I played alot of them to begin with tho.
Gohan Reborn
Wow this is fucked up. Basically forcing anybody who wants to buy online buy new games...Watch most of these games will also carry achievements online as well, to semi-force completionists to dish out for a $10 pass...Shame. k2345
Well this put's EA back to the top of my Hate List
dakisbac
I'd support them doing this for any NON-sports game (like they did with Bad Company 2) since they might actually worth full price. For sports games however, they alter the previous year's game ever so slightly and then have the audacity to brand it as "new", and sell it for new game price. That I will never support. Tussell
I don't even play EA sports games anymore and just reading that pissed me off.
StolenPaper18
Doesn't really matter to me personally because I don't play sports games much anyhow (if I do play them it is usually single player or local multiplayer). It does sound kind of dumb though, just another way for them to earn a buck ($10 in this case).
veece16
It's not suprising in a way that EA is going to charge for online gameplay, I honestly think it's ridiculous that I have to buy one of my favorite game series new just for online.
lordthrash
Wow that's stupid!! All they care about is there bottom line as far as it sounds to me, to hell with the players.
punker
Well, hopefully people speak with their wallets on this one. As long as sales tank for this, they might not keep it up. It will be terrible if it's a massive success, since EA would have no reason to stop it (or do it for their other franchises), and it would cause other companies to take note and possibly implement it into their own releases. rvlution
I don't even play EA sports games anymore and just reading that pissed me off. I agree; if it's happening to sports games, then it's probably gonna happen to non sports games. And to whoever said you'd be fine if it was with Bad Company 2, you're already paying for Xbox Live. Why the heck should we have to pay more? They can fix used game sales by making the process of making games cheaper.
PigBearMan
Just another reason I have stopped buying EA games.
KNIGHTOFSERA
Well thats kind of good news, that means no Online achievements ever for 1000/1000 since they must give you 1000 before making you pay for something dont play sports games and hope this doesnt come to others though
rvlution
I can only imagine what it's gonna be like for Gamestop employees to explain that to an unknowing customer.

SynysterChris
Ok so this is going to open the gateway for everyone to do this with all games. So what point will there be for paying for xbox live? Though I don't play sports games if I did I would probably be pissed off right now, but I just think its a way for the game industry to make more money because they can. VladimirK
I don't even play EA sports games anymore and just reading that pissed me off. Same here. Really hope their sales tank for this shit. Just got a good idea. Start downloading all of EA's games in the future then burn loads of discs and hand them out to people in the street with instructions on how to get them to play in protest of this crap. I'm sure that would royally piss EA off.
Skillet
So... does this mean since everyone who plays their new games online are going to be paying EA specifically to play online (not just their Gold Subscription)... that EA won't be shutting down multiplayer servers in the future? It sure would suck suck to pay ten bucks for a pass a couple years down the road, only to have the servers shut down a few weeks later.

Porpoise King
Wow cool, now I have to pay $10 extra to play online, only for the servers to be shut down. Thumbs up EA!
master_shake_350
Well the sad thing is that it is being done by EA! Do they actually want people to play the games or not?
mickspawn
that is complete bullsh*t. EA sucks. Yep then they'll shut down there servers. Also with EA SPORTS MMA they told dana white a while back "mma isnt a sport" and wouldnt produce a mma game, then they go and bring there own game out a few yrs later. what wankers
