olcsi2
Overview: -Estimated achievement difficulty: 4/10 -Offline: 21 (1000http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/site/gp-g.jpg) -Online: 0 (0http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/site/gp-g.jpg) -Approximate amount of time to 1000http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/site/gp-g.jpg: 8+ Hours -Minimum number of playthroughs needed: 1 -Number of missable achievements: none, chapter select is available -Do cheat codes disable achievements ? None -Does difficulty affect achievements? No, you can play on easy and still get all achievements -Glitchy achievements: No -Unobtainable achievements? No -Extra equipment needed? No Introduction Dark is an extremely linear, low budget stealth game a’la Velvet Assassin or the Hitman series. The cel shaded graphics looks really nice, but the boring story and often annoying gameplay makes it a rather mediocre game. Most of the achievements will come naturally during the single playthrough that is needed to get the full gamerscore. Once you saw the credits Dark has absolutely no replay value. Below is a list of tips to help you make your vampiric stealth journey as short as absolutely necessary. - Set the difficulty to Easy, even that difficulty will be challenging in some sections of the game. - There are 57 collectibles (PDAs) in the game, but you only need to find 7. - Do not bother with the „Just a Ghost“ achievement in the beginning. Focus on learning the game mechanics and playing through the game to get all other achievements. Once you have finished the game, try to replay the first level again. Even though there is no New Game+, you will still know a lot better what skills work for you best to run through the level without any alarms triggered. - Do not miss the glitch in the beginning of the third chapter that you can use to learn and level up all your skills. - Regardless whether you use the glitch or not, maxing out your blood together with the skills Shadow Kill, Obscure and Subdue should be the first things to learn and develop fully. - With you can skip cut scenes, use it to minimize the frustration when reloading checkpoints. - The game keeps the saves for all your checkpoints, they can be reloaded to get any remaining achievements you might have missed during your playthrough. Achievement Guide: http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/achievements/2348/15.jpg The Great Silence 40 http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/site/gp-g.png Killed 50 opponents Kill 50 enemies during your carrier. It is cumulative, even if you die and restart the last checkpoint the kills before will count towards the achievement. http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/achievements/2348/12.jpg Silent Assassin 40 http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/site/gp-g.png Killed 50 unaware opponents Unaware opponents are the ones without a question (suspicious) or exclamation (alerted) mark above their head. You also get bonus xp for unaware kills and a message on the top right corner of the screen will confirm the kill as well. It is cumulative, even if you die and restart the last checkpoint the kills before will count towards the achievement. http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/achievements/2348/16.jpg Know-It-All 40http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/site/gp-g.png Vampiric Powers used 50 times Your vampiric powers can be set by pressing and choosing the respective power and then used by pressing . The powers you can only use if you have Vitae points on your Blood meter available. These points you get by feeding on enemies. Simply use one of these powers 50 times. It is cumulative, even if you die and restart the last checkpoint the use of powers before will count towards the achievement. http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/achievements/2348/11.jpg A Transient Shadow 40http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/site/gp-g.png Use Shadow Leap 50 times Your Shadow Leap is on and can be used very early in the game. Simply leap 50 times to unlock the achievement. http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/achievements/2348/13.jpg What's Going On Here 40http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/site/gp-g.png Subdued 5 opponents and Fed on them First you will need to learn the subdue skill on the skill tree. Once you have it press when an enemy is close to you to subdue him, then run to him and press and hold A to feed on him. As this action refills your vitae you will probably use the skill very often during the game, but for the achievement you only need 5 kills. While this is the easiest way to subdue enemies, they also get dizzy if you do not finish feeding on them. Finally, if you level up your shadow kill, the enemies standing close to the one you shadow kill also get subdued and can then be fed on. http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/achievements/2348/19.jpg Data Collector 40http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/site/gp-g.png Found 7 PDAs The game is very friendly to the gamer when it comes to collectibles. From the 57 PDAs in the game you only need to collect 7. Below is a guide on all of them, but seven you will find probably without even looking for them. olcsi2
http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/achievements/2348/17.jpg Experienced Vamipre 40http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/site/gp-g.png Distributed 10 Power points See "Caine" http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/achievements/2348/18.jpg Powerful Vampire 40http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/site/gp-g.png Distributed 20 Power points See "Caine" http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/achievements/2348/21.jpg Caine 80http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/site/gp-g.png Learn all the powers and their upgrades By finding collectibles, killing enemies, completing objectives you earn XP and with every 1000 XP you gain a Power point. When you press you can distribute these points among your vampiric powers. In order to learn and upgrade all powers within one game you either have to kill a lot of enemies silently and find a lot of collectibles or you can choose the easy way and exploit a section in Chapter 3 to get unlimited XP and a fully upgraded character. You will be in a huge area with a round bar in the middle. If you run straight to the back of this room, behind the stairs you will find a PDA collectible. Pick it up and then run to the two guards chatting nearby so that they notice you. Though you will find yourself back where you started, the 200 XP for the collectible will not be lost and you can head to the same PDA to pick it up again for yet another 200 XP. Like this you can gain a level every 2:30 minutes. You need altogether 64,000 XP to buy everything and fully upgrade your character. To minimize the grind, you can stop between 40,000 - 42,000 XP as after this section - even if you do not focus on stealth kills - there is enough XP in the game to take care of the rest. Remember, if the exploit will be fixed in the future, you can still delete all game updates from your hard drive, go offline, use the exploit and once you have upgraded your character you can download the game updates again. http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/achievements/2348/14.jpg Must've Been the Wind 60http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/site/gp-g.png Earn ten experience rewards for completing areas without raising the alarm Complete 10 sections without being noticed. This includes enemies discovering corpses and becoming hostile regardless whether they spot you or not. If you successfully complete an area without raising alarms at the checkpoint you will get bonus xp for it with a message on the top right corner of the screen. As it does not need to be 10 different levels, you can use an exploit and replay the last checkpoint of a relatively short and easy area again and again. The video guide below explains it all. Remember, you still need to complete a whole area without triggering alarms, you only exploit the fact that you get the bonus with the last checkpoint in that area. Another tip from Tyger7 is to use the section at the very end of chapter 3. You'll walk into a big room with the man playing the piano. Get to where you can just say "enough talk", and choose that option. You will notice the "no alarm" bonus come up, even if you had previously been caught by the group of enemies before the room. The correct loading name is your latest save of Warhouse. You need to complete a whole level without triggering a single alarm. This includes being noticed as well as enemies discovering corpses and becoming hostile regardless whether they spot you or not. You can always reload the last checkpoint if the Hostile meter appears on the screen. The easiest level is probably Chapter 1 where apart from the boss sequence all other sections can be done after a few tries Below is a video guide from NoKtoLive. He is playing on hard and using melee kills only, learning some skills (e.g. Shadow Kill or Obscure) makes it a lot easier. jadelynx11
- You NEED to Pursue Samantha instead of killing the boss, otherwise you will have to reload the fight for that achievement, kissing Samantha comes automatically beforehand but saving her and killing the boss gets you NOTHING - u cannot get the stealth achievement on the levels after u return to sanctuary because the mini-gun enemy takes 2 melees to kill and he is automatically alerted after the first one, that is worth mentioning because that caused me quite a bit of grief. - UPGRADE your vision to show PDA's through walls in PURPLE which makes walk-through unnecessary for that achievement - people keep saying this game is easy because you play on easy, but the truth is the hardest part of this game is the horrible checkpoints. u can kill over 20 enemies without the game saving and 1 mistake undoes all of your progress. i think u should let people know of that ahead of time and bring the difficulty to at least 5/10 for the average gamer who is not used to poorly made and unforgiving stealth games. - u can spam the B button to skip cutscenes which could save u time as well. - also if u utilize the PDA glitch for EXP u won't need to kill everybody so just max the obscure power and run invisibly through the levels and feed on lonely unarmored assholes in corners to get more blood to use obscure more. - just trying to save people time because this game sucks and u should get it over with as fast as possible to get back to the good games out there because games like this are a stain on the industry and a waste of everybody's time. Also, don't buy these games just rent them so the morons who made them get fired and do something useful with their lives instead of making trash like this. : Edited August 2, 2013 by jadelynx11
Maka
I've had 2 friends beat the game in just over 6 hours. Also, if you need video guides, I may be making some in the coming week/months when I decide to play the game!
olcsi2
Thanks guys.. with the videos I will wait until I find the best ones to include. I finished the game today and completed the achievement texts. The Roadmap will need to be enhanced with some tips, I will do in this on the weekend. Tyger7
For some reason I'm having some real troubles in the museum of the first mission. I am on easy but it's extremely difficult! It's more difficult to me than Hitman Absolution on it's Professional difficulty. Am I just not patient enough? Edit: I finally did it, and the rest of the game seems a little bit easier as I go. I just had to keep trying. I had to shadow kill an enemy and make a run for it. Was just luck. That part was really annoying. Edited August 5, 2013 by Tyger7
olcsi2
you are not patient.. from the start go right, get the guard when he stops at your end. Then get the guard on the bridge just to be safe. There are two on the same floor on the right side by the stairs. get the first one that does not move with shadow kill when the other is not watching, drag the body to the back. Get the other and feed on him. Go down the stairs, get the guy that is walking close to the stairs, feed on him. Just to be safe, also get the one in the same area on the left side and drag the body to the back. Then there are two more close to the exit, you can use the ability (I forgot the name) that makes your sneak make less noise and out you are. Tyger7
I would have to say, this game is higher than a 3 in my opinion. The checkpoints are ridiculous! Must Have Been the Wind Sure, there's some decent places to get this. But none better than what I just discovered. At the very end of chapter 3, you'll walk into a big room with the man playing the piano. Get to where you can just say "enough talk", and choose that option. You will notice the "no alarm" bonus come up, even if you had previously been caught by the group of enemies before the room. The correct loading name is your latest save of Warhouse. You can even track how many you have based on how many new loads are above it called Backyard. No enemies to worry about. It actually takes longer to load than it is to complete the section! No sneaking around needed. By the way, you skip cut scenes with B in case someone hadn't realized. Edited August 6, 2013 by Tyger7
olcsi2
Thanks Tyger, I added the section, the skiping cut scened will go to the Roadmap, once I will have enough time to polish that part a bit on the weekend.
cooorpse
I also think it's more than 3/10 of difficult. I spent much more time on the first Chapter than the others, I think I was without patient too, but as jadelynx11 said you can kill 20 enemies and one fault can ruin it. For the What's Going On Here achievement, I unlocked it without having the Subdue skill. You can simply bite an enemy (hold A) and don't feed all the blood, that way the enemy turns dizzy and then you bite him again feeding all the blood, killing him. I didn't hold the button properly at the beginning and I unlocked the achievement that way.
Shadowfan789
For the A Friend In Need achievement, this comes in Chapter 6, not Chapter 5. Just wanted to clarify that. Also A Time to Make Friends is not in the beginning of Chapter 6, it's about halfway through. Edited August 10, 2013 by Shadowfan789
Tyger7
Okay, do I just suck at this game? 4 hours of trying chapter 1 to gain the "just a ghost" achievement...loading every time an alarm is raised. What happens? I beat it without alarm and no achievement. This makes me think the game is like an 8 out of 10 difficulty. This might be the game that literally stops me from caring about completion and just send it back. It's the worst game of the year I have played. Hours of playing the last checkpoint and no achievement. I can't tell if I messed up in earlier sections or the last. I am on easy...yet this game is harder to get this one achievement than almost every single game I have played this year. It's not an easy 1000. It's beyond frustrating. I have done 1000 in Splinter Cell Conviction, Hitman Absolution, Velvet Assassin, many Assassin's Creeds, Dishonored, etc (stealth games) yet this game is the one that is so extremely difficult on an easy setting, even though I have completed all of the above on hard (where applicable). What's the secret? What chapter is the easiest? Nothing carries over when you beat the game. What's considered an alarm? I figured it was when it says "alarm" at the top. This game is the absolute worst game I have played, all year. I hate it! This game should not be played by anyone.
olcsi2
@shadow, cooorpse, thanks for the comments, I incorporated them. @Tyger, an alarm is also if someone finds a corpse and the guards get alarmed, get hostile. Probably that is what you miss. At least that was what I missed when I had similar feelings like you do now. (Btw, is the description of an alarm in the guide wrong/misleading?) I unfortunately do not have a device to record my sessions, but I think the easiest level is the first. If you learn shadow kill, the sneaking improvements, upgrade your blood meter, you can run through the first level in 25-30 mins. The guy in this thread ( http://www.xbox360achievements.org/forum/showthread.php?t=501272 ) recorded everything in full stealth mode without using any extra skills. I think it is a lot easier than all those other stealth games as you really only need to be stealthy for that single achievement. There are a few key points that hiding a body (hold LB) is necessary. The most frustrating one for me was when you encounter the level's boss for the first time. There are two guards you need to kill and hide appropriately in enough time before another guard and it's ghoul shows up. He'll have a flashlight and pan the room.
