Introduction:

Welcome to Rhythm Party (Boom Boom Dance in some areas), a pick up and play XBLA dancing game where you simply hit spots to the beat of the song instead of memorizing any complicated routines. The game is pretty straightforward since the game can be played on any difficulty for achievements, but you will probably work up a decent sweat while playing it.

Step 1: AAA Ranking each song

There are only 10 songs in the original game, but you need to get both a AAA rank and 100% Special Effects hit on each of the them. Fortunately, they do not need to be done at the same time, but getting 100% special effects will probably get you a AAA rank. While doing that, you should get more than half the achievements naturally.

Step 2: Mop Up

You probably won’t have gotten everything while going for AAA and 100%, so you are probably left with four or five achievements. The big problem is that the description before you unlock the achievement is almost always of no help in figuring out what it does. Check the guide below to find out what you are actually supposed to do, but it should be easy now that you only need to focus on the specific tricks, not getting 100%.

Conclusion:

The biggest problem in the game is that you can have absolutely no idea what the game is asking you to do if you simply looked at the achievement description. But, by using a guide, you are likely to be able to complete this game easily and quickly.

You can get this one before the first song actually starts. The unlocked description is “You Successfully performed a turn, jump, hit or rhythm trick.” All of those are straight forward since it is basically “do a trick.”

See “Trick Hero” for more information on tricks.

Yet another achievement that will likely come naturally in your first song. I’m not actually sure what causes a Combo Zone to launch, though it seems to be having an actual combo multiplier going at a specific point in the song. Obviously, if you are going for the 100% Special Effects, you will hit at least one if not two or three Combo Zones in each song.

This is pretty straight forward, but beware of objects in your play space. All you have to do is hit a ripple intended for your hand with your foot. So basically, if you see a ripple at waist height or above, try to hit it with your feet. It may take a few tries to unlock, but be persistent and careful.

The unlocked description reads, “You earned a 100% achievement rate for a special effects.” You’ll get it at the end of the song if you got 100% special effects, so basically hitting every ripple while hitting a trick. The easiest way to do this is just to walk or hop in place and get step tricks throughout the song while hitting every note.

Straight forward, just hit every ripple with a Perfect or Good timing in any song and you will unlock this achievement. Beware of the special ripples that appear even on easy, though.

To get a AAA rank, you need to get about 90% perfect or higher. It would help if the game let you know how you did for that at the end of the song, but it doesn’t. If you are struggling, don’t worry about tricks and just get your hand or foot in front of the ripple as soon as you see it. You can be as early as you want for each ripple, so long as a hand or foot is there before the ripple hits, you will get perfect timing.

The unlocked achievement reads “You successfully completed a Ripple while doing a jump and a turn.” Straight forward once you know what it is talking about, since you are likely to nail multiple rhythm tricks many, many times, but not necessarily these two tricks. On any song, just jump on the spot to the beat and spin around in a circle with your arms out to the sides (again, be careful). You will not be able to see what you are doing, but you will eventually hit a ripple while doing that, so listen for the achievement unlocked sound (you probably won’t be able to see it from the spinning).

You are better off not trying for these while attempting to AAA a song. There are seven in total, each needing to be unlocked by completing the previous one. Once you have completed a challenge, you will get a message telling you what the next challenge is in the song select menu. Basically you need to get a certain number of each trick in a single song to complete the challenge. The challenges are:

200 Step Tricks

20 Jump Tricks

20 Turn Tricks

40 Hit Tricks

20 Pose tricks

60 Shake Tricks

60 Rhythm tricks

See “Trick Hero” for more information on each trick.

See “AAA Getter” for information on how to get a AAA rank. You are going to need to need to perform all seven tricks while still getting a AAA rank. Those seven tricks are:

Step trick: Just step from side to side or march in place.

Jump trick: Jump on the spot. You will occasionally get credit for a step trick if you do not jump high enough.

Turn trick: Spin in place. Be careful to watch for objects in your play space.

Hit trick: Basically you have to reach across your body and hit a ripple on the right side of your body with your left hand or vice versa. You can hit ripples designed for the feet in the same way.

Pose trick: Essentially, hold still after a quick movement. You might have trouble getting it to register, though. Jumping jacks, holding in between each should get you a pose trick.

Shake trick: I had to close my eyes for this one, since you basically need to shake your head and wave your hands. I found shaking my head in a “no” motion to the beat worked best.

Rhythm trick: Basically you need to move to the beat of the song, so you should get this naturally while going for everything else.

While going for each trick, I would recommend getting the turn trick and the pose trick out of the way before the song actually starts, since they are quite difficult to do on rhythm. This can be done in any song.

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/achievements/2131/+Fd5xg==.jpgRhythm Master 20 http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/site/gp-g.png Keep dancing to the rhythm.

When unlocked, the achievement reads “You successfully performed rhythm tricks throughout an entire song.” That means that you need to get the maximum number of possible rhythm tricks in the song. The two easiest songs in the game are arguably Every Little Step and YMCA, where you need 199 and 263 rhythm tricks respectively. There are many suggested methods for this, some can be found HERE, but I found the jump rope method and the method in the thread’s video did not work reliably for me. I found the most reliable method to get a rhythm trick was to “strut” or walk like Bernie from Weekend at Bernies. Basically walk in a slightly wide stance and throw one shoulder back on each step. It has the advantage of being low impact on the knees and shins and tracks reliably. You’ll know you are getting a rhythm trick because you will get a small coloured burst (colour varies) around your torso.

Again, after unlocking the achievement reads “You earned a 100% achievement rate for a special effect in all songs.” See “Artist” for more info and get 100% on all 10 of the game’s tracks.

See “AAA Getter” for more info on how to reach AAA rank. All you need to do is reach AAA Rank for all 10 of the game’s songs.
