Welcome back to Vice City. Welcome back to the 1980s.

From the decade of big hair, excess and pastel suits comes a story of one man's rise to the top of the criminal pile. Vice City, a huge urban sprawl ranging from the beach to the swamps and the glitz to the ghetto, was one of the most varied, complete and alive digital cities ever created. Combining open-world gameplay with a character driven narrative, you arrive in a town brimming with delights and degradation and given the opportunity to take it over as you choose.

To celebrate its 10 year anniversary, Rockstar Games brings Grand Theft Auto: Vice City to mobile devices with high-resolution graphics, updated controls and a host of new features including:

• Beautifully updated graphics, character models and lighting effects

• New, precisely tailored firing and targeting options

• Custom controls with a fully customizable layout

• iCloud save game support

• Massive campaign with countless hours of gameplay

• Support for Retina display devices

• Custom iTunes Playlist*

*To listen to your custom playlist, simply create a playlist titled “VICECITY”, launch the game, and select the radio station “Tape Deck”

GTA: Vice City is priced at US$4.99, AU$5.49 & £2.99.

Have you got it? If so, how are the controls? I did see on the trailer that it looks similar to how Carmageddon is controlled, and if the entire game is like that, I'm sold.

Edit.

Never mind, I just bought it. $5 (bought with US iTunes account) is nothing when it comes to GTA greatness, in the palm of my hands.

Just started playing it now. 1.1gb download which isnt too bad. I think III came in around just under 700mb.

Im playing on an iPad 3. The control settings are more user-definable than III; analog steering, accelerometer, tap to shoot, Auto aim etc all toggle on/off.

All the little icons for walking, shooting and driving etc can be placed anywhere and re-sized which makes things a lot easier.

The only thing im afraid of is drive-by type missions, as this was absolute hell in GTA III and really made it hard to progress. Hopefully its not an issue in Vice City with the tap to shoot option. Shooting so much easier as well from what ive played so far, and you can tap people before firing your gun anyways to target the person.

I've only just done the intro bit and just messing around beating people up and stealing cars. Its exactly as I remember Vice City, and at least I can delete III off my iPad and never have to look at it again. They've improved a lot with Vice City.

Never played III on iOS, so can't comment on that. So far though, I am liking what I am experiencing. The driving is similar to how it is with Carmageddon.

The movement controls do feel a little sensitive, but that's expected for a first timer.

Can't find anything to do a wheelie/stoppie when on a motorbike. Not that big of a deal, but one thing I can notice that's missing from the original game.

Been waiting forever for this to come out for iPad. III came out a little over a year ago and it just made me want Vice City even more! I love the changes & improvements from III to this one!

This is my favourite game EVER!

I couldn't wait any longer and ended up buying it on Steam a couple months ago. I got a program that configured the button settings with my xbox 360 controller and it worked perfectly. The control scheme kept resetting itself every time I continued my game, and then I just gave up on it.

I now live on Ocean Drive so this game is even more special to me than ever! :p

For those unfamiliar with South Florida, here are the Vice City Map locations, and their Real locations in Miami. Thought I'd share this info with you, since there really isn't any out there.

Vice City Beach (North to South)

Vice Point - Bal Harbour Beach - probably got the name from Biscayne Point, just west of North Beach, Miami Beach FL.

'North Point Mall' is here (contrasting to South Pointe, Miami Beach)

North Point Mall is Bal Harbour Shops - Bal Harbour, FL (compare to shops on Rodeo Drive, Beverly Hills CA /Greenwich Ave, Greenwich CT/Fifth Ave, NY NY)

Washington Beach - South Beach Miami Beach FL (Name is from Washington Ave - It runs North & South through South Beach Miami Beach FL)

The Washington Mall is the 'Lincoln Rd Mall' actually not a mall - but a shopping strip of stores on Lincoln Rd that no cars can go on. It starts where Lincoln Rd (runs East & West) and Washington Ave meet at 400 Lincoln Rd Miami Beach, FL.

Ocean Beach - South Beach Miami Beach FL (starts where Ocean Drive is continued again)

Your first Safe house APT is here in the Ocean View

The 'Vice City Beach' water tower confuses me though. It's located in game across from the Malibu Club (Scarface's The Babylon Club) and this location is where Collin's Park is located in Miami.

Miami - has a very unique water tower called the Alhambra - It looks like a Light House and it dates back to 1920's. It's no where near Miami Beach.

Hallandale (North of Miami) - has a unique water tower that looks like a Beach ball being suspended in air by a burst of water.

Hollywood Beach (North of Hallandale) - has a blue tower that is pretty unique and doesn't look like the one in the game either.

Bridges/Causeways (North to South)

North Bridge - John F. Kennedy Causeway

Links Bridge - i195 Julia Tuttle Causeway

Island Bridge - Venetian Causeway

South Bridge - MacArthur Causeway

Islands (North to South)

Prawn Island - North Bay Village (?) Possibly a play on the word 'Pelican' Island

Leaf Links - La Gorce Golf Course & Country Club

Starfish Island - Star Island Miami Beach FL, but it's located on the Vice City map were the Venetian Islands Miami Beach FL are.

Vice City Downtown (North to South)

Downtown - Miami Gardens - On the map it is located where Hialeah really is.

I believe it's Miami Gardens because of the Stadium (Sun Life Stadium - Miami Dolphins, Marlins)

Little Haiti - Little Haiti Miami

Little Havana - West/East Little Havana Miami

Escobar International - Miami International Airport

Named after Pablo Escobar

VicePort - Dodge Island (Port Blvd) - East of Downtown Miami

Possibly named after Port Blvd that runs through Dodge Island

If you guys want anymore info about stuff in the game, I'll see what I can muster up!

Cheers! ;)

Prawn Island - North Bay Village (?) Possibly a play on the word 'Pelican' Island

So awesome that a game is based around an area you live. I always thought that Prawn Island was named that for the fact that film studio is based there that has that porno film director.

'pr0n' was a search term for someone that wanted to look up 'porn' but not have it tracked by the wife/boss. Im sure Prawn is a play-on for this, which would suit the islands theme.
