how do you build your strength up?

at first it wAS white then it turned full red and wont go up anymore

 

how do you lift the weights as well do you just mash Y or lift till top then weight for it to drop and lift again?

 

On your first 1 or 2 trips in the exercise yard there is a maximum amout you can fill it by but then on the (i think) 5th chapter you are in the exercise yard again and you can just keep exercising untill it is maxed out. (also if you are playing guppy first and you maximise your strength when you replay on shark your strength is at max from the beginning)

 

With the weights it really doesnt matter whether you button bash (Y) or not as it increases your strength either way.
