No Introduction Comic Jumper follows the story of protagonist and player character Captain Smiley and his biologically attached abrasive sidekick, Star. The duo must travel through different comic books, each with unique drawing styles, and fix the comics' plots Four distinct comic styles have exist in the game; Modern, which features bold colors, Fantasy, which features subdued colors with watercolor backgrounds, Silver Age, which is presented in cel-shaded graphics, and Manga, which is presented in black and white. When in a respective comic style Captain Smiley and Star's character design adapts to fit the look of the comic, sometimes even adapting weaponry to match the setting. Breakdown Welcome to Comic Jumper. Another fun filled game by Twisted Pixel! Through this game you'll unlock most achievements in the first playthrough but some will/may take a little bit of grinding and a few more plays of the Comic Chapters and Challenges. You should easly get a total of 100http://www.xbox360achievements.org/forum/../images/misc/g-icon.gif just from the story before you do a bit of money grinding. Follow the guide and these achievements will be yours: Neural Net Processors, Two Stood Against Many, Hero of the Silver Age, Brad's Saviour and Best Friend, Job Well Done, Faithful Reader, Press X a Lot & Shut Star Up. Once your first playthrough is completed you'll need to move onto any missable and grinding achievments! The Grinding achievements consist of: Collection of a True Fan, I Took Performace Enhancers & Violance Solves Everything. For these achievements you'll need to replay Comic Chapters and/or Challenges to earn a little extra money as possible by the end of each Issue. You may have enough money after the first playthrough to buy every Upgrade AND Bonus Material in the game to unlock Collection of a True Fan & I Took Performace Enhancers, so the grinding may not be necessary. I recommend you buy the Bonus Material stuff first as you start to get Score Multipliers and by the time you have brought them all the total added is 325% onto your end scores and added money. All this means now is you'll earn that case a little bit faster. Below is the best and fastest way to gain money. Grinding Method This is an alternative way to play the game if you're looking to playthrough it fast. First play the Introduction Comic (CS #23), and then afterwards, go to Winklemeyer and purchase as many Bonus items as possible (wont be to many but buy the cheapest - See list in Guide). After that, go to the Comic Jumper and choose Challenge and choose the 2nd stage. It's REALLY easy to reach the end without getting hit (Only takes 1:05-15 to complete), and you can average $3000-$4000 after each time. The more Bonus items you buy, the more your total is multiplied. Basically, play a few rounds of this stage to earn money, and then go back to Winklemeyer and buy more Bonus items. Your average will then shoot up tremendously thanks to the multiplication. Doing this technique will mean you have much more money in the bank at a faster rate and you can buy everything thus unlocking Collection of a True Fan & I Took Performace Enhancers much quicker. For Violance Solves Everything I recommend you constantly hold to make the most of it. One playthrough doing this will net you around 50-70k bullets fired! See Guide for more info. The missable achievements consists of: Eugene's Protégé & He Ain't Even Married. For these you can simply restart any or a certain Comic Chapters and try and unlock the achievment you're missing. For Eugene's Protégé you cant miss one QTE throughout the whole game. Hints & Tip #1 - Slide is your friend. To preform a Slide either press down on the and then press or at the same time. With the direction your pushing you'll slide along the floor and dodge enemy attacks with ease. #2 - Jumping is also very useful in the way you can like the Slide get out of sticky situations like ground enemy attacks and get you up high away from them. #3 - Trigger happy! Always hold the to shoot your gun. Doing this will help you clear distance enemies off screen or just as they enter and give you much more breathing space when the screen gets crazy. #4 - Skipping parts! Sometime the levels just get full of enemies and you're constantly getting hit and running past them all is the only option. If you cant do a bit and the screen lets you move on just run, jump and slide your way out of there! #5 - Spend your money wisely! I recommend you use it on the Bonus stuff and little bits on the Upgrades. I'd also suggest you keep to Health and Damage for the first few buys so you dont die as easy and can kill faster! See Breakdown/Grind achievements for a little more detail. #6 - Health. If you're low on HP and you dont mind wastnig it or you dont use it, then press for the Help Me move and not only will everything die on the screen but your Health will be fully restored. Just watch out though as if you do use it you wont get the Bonus score/money at the end of the Issue! #7 - Remember if you're having trouble with aim and shooting enemies, you can always got to the setting and turn Aim Assist on. Conclusion Comic Jumper is a hectic game but packed full of fun. If you take it at a good pace you should have no trouble with it and nice challenging but awarding 200http://www.xbox360achievements.org/forum/../images/misc/g-icon.gif on your wall! You wont get this as you finish the story on your first playthrough. You'll have to go back and do a 2nd playthrough and/or do the Challenges to rack up the bullet count. I suggest you constantly hold down the http://www.xbox360achievements.org/forum/../images/misc/rt.png button as you play to speed this process along! One playthrough doing this will net you around 50-70k bullets fired depending on deaths etc! The best way to get this achievement is to do the rubber band trick. You'll get about 7-10k worth of bullets in about 1 hour or less! If you want to see how many shots you've fired just head to the Stats computer which is in the same room as Gerda to the right. http://www.xbox360achievements.org/forum/../images/achievements/1206/+9nA7g==.jpgEugene's Protégé 20http://www.xbox360achievements.org/forum/../images/misc/g-icon.gif Play every reaction sequence mistake-free. These are the QTE's (Quick Time Events) that pop every once and a while through the game. The first one you come across is on CS #23. The camera will change angle and the buttons (http://www.xbox360achievements.org/forum/../images/misc/a.pnghttp://www.xbox360achievements.org/forum/../images/misc/x.pnghttp://www.xbox360achievements.org/forum/../images/misc/y.pnghttp://www.xbox360achievements.org/forum/../images/misc/b.png) will pop up on screen. Make sure you hit everyone without making a mistake. They're not all that difficult but if you do miss one by mistake just come back to that Comic Issue later and replay it. There's a total of 3 in the game: CS #23, Nonac Issue #286 and CS #00. The achievement will unlock when your score is shown at the end of the last Comic! http://www.xbox360achievements.org/forum/../images/achievements/1206/+fjJWw==.jpgHe Ain't Even Married 20http://www.xbox360achievements.org/forum/../images/misc/g-icon.gif Survive a specific section without getting hit. This achievement is related to the Benny fight in Improbable Paper Pals Issue #79. Benny starts with over 800K Health. The fastest and best way to beat him is to use all 3 of you TP Help moves. Make sure you have 3 of them ready to use and before the fight starts you have full HP. If you don't have full HP, just die as the fight starts and you'll spawn right at the start of it again! Now onto the fight. Use the first TP Help move just before you trigger the falling section of the fight. Then use your second when he is down to about 350k HP during the falling part. Then as soon as you land hold right to run away and use your 3rd. He'll either die right there or have less than 2k HP, it all depends on when you use the powers. Either way its the fasted and best way to kill him without having to really fight him! http://www.xbox360achievements.org/forum/../images/achievements/1206/+BgxyA==.jpgShut Star Up 10http://www.xbox360achievements.org/forum/../images/misc/g-icon.gif Let your feelings guide you. At the end of CS #23 & #00, Star and you will have a little arguement. During this, you'll punch him and then he'll bite your hand. When this happens you can press http://www.xbox360achievements.org/forum/../images/misc/x.png to punch him. Do this 15 times and the achievement will unlock. If you missed it just come back and replay these Issues. Edited July 18, 2012 by Nozza
T0b3
To Shut Star - You need to punch Star 15 times. To I Took Performace Enhancers - You don't need the "Help me"-thingy for the achievement. To Press X a Lot - Hitting on objects (Statues, posters, etc.) will also count to this achievement. Things you might add: Violance Solves Everything - one playthrough roughly gains you 50,000 shots. Eugene's Protégé - achievement will pop up at the level end summary screen I Took Performace Enhancers Health Bar 3: $10,000 Damage Bar 3: $12,000 Bar 4: $25,000 Bar 5: $50,000 Slider Bar 2:$5,000 Help Me Bar 2:$10,000 Bar 3:$15,000 General Achievements for all upgrades and bonusses will unlock after leaving the screen. GR4V1G0R3
brief addition i managed to get 70 000 shots from 1 play through (a lot of being a nub, and dying involved) he ain't even married is definately glitched at the moment, dev's looking into it (according to this thread) as for grinding, i wouldn't say that money is problem start by buying the extra's first, leave your stats alone (the extra's give you a score multiplier, total 325% when you have all of them) upgrade CS after, and you will be done with both before you finish the game now to go shoot another 30 000 times while i wait for 'H.A.E.M.' to be fixed..... joecamnet
By chance is there a list of everybody to talk to and everything to examine in the base for the "Press X a Lot" Achievement? I could've sworn I talked to everybody and checked all the scenery and items, but maybe I'm missing something? I have no idea. Great guide, thanks for making it! Hopefully the devs fix the "He Ain't Even Married" Achievement soon. Time to tape down the R button overnight to rack up some bullets.
GR4V1G0R3
i think it's just a case of talk to everybody after every level you will get the achievement about 1/3 - 1/2 way through the game talk to gerda after each mission, the crazy helmet guy (shop) and in the 'lounge' talk to :- brad (first 1/4 & 4/4 of the game) putt-putt (2/4 - end of game) rope lady (3/4 - end of game) also, be on the look out for comics, and a few other items (2 at the shop area, 1 between the 2 arcade machines) there is also the 2 cut-scenes about the splosion man arcade machine some of these may be one time only events. I'm not going to spoil anything, i'll just say, check everything, after every level, always. whenever it puts up a "press X" prompt, do it
joecamnet
Gotcha. OP might want to update the guide then as it says you can get it before even starting the first comic. Unless it IS possible, I just didn't talk enough yet. I don't know. Just started myself, so I'm sure it'll come eventually. Thanks for the quick answer! onan
start by buying the extra's first, leave your stats alone (the extra's give you a score multiplier, total 325% when you have all of them) Can't agree with this enough. Not trying to farm but doing Challenges as they become available, I've purchased everything in the extras store and the upgrade store with the exception of the $50,000 damage 5th tier upgrade by the end of the Nanoc comics. I expect to get that last one after this first next issue (and maybe a challenge level too). Also, I'm pretty sure the "press X a lot" achievement is for activating a set number of interactions in the base, be it people or items. The arcade machines, the stat box, the Timecop pod, the trophy cabinet, and the unlocked goodies wall don't count. Basically talking to people after each mission, and activating items. Anything that gives you cash that isn't automatic. It's possible to get this in the middle of the game or not get it at all, but the absolute earliest to get it is after the first Nanoc comic (The base doesn't reset with new interactions until after you do a story mission). onan
Also, not to be a dick, but since everything else is so well written, both the achievement and the word are spelled "Violence", not "Violance". Honest and common typo but just wanted to give a quick heads up since it's already being quoted. Awesome guide, man!

UCB Disco
I would TOTALLY change the Roadmap to suggest playing through the first comic, and then afterward, go to Winklemeyer and purchase as many Bonus items as possible. After that, go to the Comic Jumper and choose Challenge and choose the second stage. It's REALLY easy to reach the end without getting hit (Only takes 1:05-15 to complete), and you can average 3000-4000 bucks after each time. The more Bonus items you buy, the more your total is multiplied. Basically, play a few rounds of this stage to earn money, and then go back to Winklemeyer and buy more Bonus items. Your average will then shoot up tremendously thanks to the multiplication. I just bought every Bonus item in under 2 hours of total play (That's including having played the first comic series). Now I'm getting an average of 9000-10,000 bucks each times I finish that stage, and after finishing the first stage of the "Golden Era", I made almost 20,000 bucks. Maxing out the Captain is going to be a cinch. Edited October 7, 2010 by UCB Disco

l.maciver
good achievements guide, the only problem i see is the roadmap, its sayin 250g instead of 200. other than that i think its a good guide. i would also like to suggest this pic for your guide. http://dc6rba.bay.livefilestore.com/y1psAGX4AcAcRYqNXM7PASKOcMV5ZLqwEeEsE80g45eDz2u8CnD-9zUflvqtC43jhsoTvQHgOCYVa102pJBMCzJZzoTmZ2J6eay/cj2.jpg?psid=1 Edited October 8, 2010 by l.maciver
NihilistRonin
For the "Pressed X a Lot" achievement, as soon as you finish the introduction, talk to Greda, head left, talk to Brad, examine the Kefling statue, examine the poster on the wall by your collection, continue left, examine the Splosion Man and The Maw arcade machines. Then proceed right, past Greda, examine your stats. Continue left and talk to the "crazy helmet guy" whose name I can't remember. Continue left to the next room and talk to the Twisted Pixel guys. After this, complete the first mission. Return to base at the end of the first mission, proceed left, talk to Brad again, examine the Kefling, and poster again, and then run left to talk to the Twisted Pixel guys again. The achievement should pop then. It's easily obtainable early in the game. =) Also... >.> Check out the leaderboard for the Bradbot challenge.... <.< I was like <--> close to 1st place. =(

N1S Zero
My friend thought that the "He Ain't Even Married" Achievement was glitched thank you for confirming that. Now he can stop kicking the TV.
GR4V1G0R3
i posted this on TA, might as well post it in here too, for when it's fixed (better be in a mood for reading, if not, don't continue) pitiful"He Ain't Even Married" guide this is a 4 phase fight, with phase 1 & 3 scrolling left to right, phase 2 falling, and the final phase being stationary. phase 1 benny will only have 2 attacks, the charge move (high or low) & missiles you have plenty of time to avoid the charge move for the first 3 or 4 charges. After this, benny will at some point do a triple charge (low, high, low OR high, low, high) which is generally also easy to avoid [unless like me, you randomly jump up, instead of dropping down] now the layout & attack will change, from being flat with the ledge, to having 'boxes' for you to jump on, and benny will fire his missiles at you (i recommend you learn how to stay atop these while benny fires missiles, as you will need that knowledge for phase 3) a pretty brief return to the original style, with either single or triple charge moves when he's down to about 580,000 health onto phase 2 Phase 2 - falling there is no pattern to his attacks, but they include single [left / right] charge triple charge [R,L,R / L,R,L] laser X - this has 3 variants. if it is dead centre of the screen, it will stay as an 'X' if it is offset to either side, that beam will shut off almost as soon as it stops, and the other beam will continue to move round laser || this pattern can be a pain, the beams will start pointing out, and work down to force you upto benny, then it will move from side to side. the only help i can give is learn his attacks, and the safe spots, if it's not a laser attack, stay right at the bottom, and move to the opposite side to the drill laser attacks are where the trouble comes from, with 3 of them being near identical, you will need to be ready for them, either way, stay bottom middle until his attcks shows it's self notei'm sure there are more than i listed, but i don't remember how they started. get him down to about 320,000 (could be anywhere 350,000 - 280,000) and then phase 3 this almost a repeat of the first section, but you have to use a sepcific route, due to electricity things (they are all tied in to what benny will do, so i suggest you learn this section by running through it once to familiarise yourself with the layout, i guess this also means that the random factor is removed from this section) benny will attack Low, High, Low (when he attacks low, you must also jump to clear the electricity beam) after this there will be the repeat of the 'box' section where benny fires missiles, however this time, all of the pits have elecricity blocking them, so you need to jump and shoot the missiles *DON'T just spam jump, you need to time it well, and hopefully you should manage to shoot most of the missiles. Your best bet is to stay still shooting the missiles until you have a clear view of the next box before jumping over, try to time your jump to clear the few missiles that make it past your barrage of bullets after this hellish bit you're almost done with phase 3 there will be a repeat of the beginning of phase 3, then benny will start using his lasers again he has 3 firing patterns i have noticed. now there are 2 that are near identical, but differ on how he gets into the position 1. >< fires away from himself, moving the lasers to make an X (get as close to him as you can, on the middle level) 2. >< fires in an X closing down to >< (stay far back, middle level) 3. fires both up, sweeping them down, safe spot bottom middle (there may be the reverse of this too, but i havent seen it. at about 80,000 this should take you to phase 4 phase 4 the stationary bit for this section there is a ladder on the right of the screen he has 2 attacks i'm aware of, i don't know of any variations the charge attack and the laser attack charge - he will either have his drill High or Low laser - he will make an >< as usual best tactic is to stay in the middle of the ladder for the charge attack, keep an eye on the drill position, be ready to drop off, or climb slightly depending where it is for the laser attack, the middle of the ladder is the only safe spot i've found with lots of luck, and practice, you should have managed to defeat this total recall parody boss without being hit. i apologise for the vagueness of some descriptions, there is no substitute for learning the safe zones yourself, and persevering, though it will undoubtedly annoy the hell out of you hopefully this achievement will be fixed soon so we can achieve the hardest achievement in the game, my only wish is that i had found out it was glitched before spending 2 hours trying it myself, however if that was the case, i wouldn't have written this best of luck all

This boss fight is split into 4 parts. Two running and one falling and one still. You start off by running away from Benny and his drill machine. Just keep heading right and shooting him. There is a platform in the middle and this is used to dodge his attacks! When his drill is high make sure you're running on the floor, then when he aims low make sure you're on the platform. A bit way through this part he will also shoot homing missiles at you. Simply shoot them and/or hide inbetween the blocks that are presented to as you keep heading off the screen. After all this you'll then cut to the falling part of the fight. You can control CS left, right, up and down to dodge his attacks. Again he'll do the drill one but this time he also uses two lasers. These will have different patterns but are fairly simple to dodge. You just need to know where the space will be when they fire and what direction they'll be going. So if both face left on the screen and fire, they'll both go anit-clockwise in a circle. This means you'll have to work your way up to the top right coner so you miss the cut off point and then they'll be turned off. Sometimes you need to aim for the middle top and others to the left. After this scene you'll then be back on the ground and running. This is the same as the first part but this time you need to watch out for the laser traps that are placed on the ground and platform at angles and this time Benny also uses his laser attack! Last but not least is the still section. Here you're trapped against a wall with a ladder and must finish off the last bit of health Benny has. For this part he should only use this homing missiles and the laser attacks. Use the ladder to dodge the lasers! If you die at any part of this fight you'll be sent straight back to the beggining. Hopefully you can do all this without getting hit and the achievement should unlock once the glitch has been fixed.
