Introduction:

Warning: wielding the powers of these heroes may trigger intense cravings for pizza. Enter the world of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and battle to save New York City in this game based on the Nickelodeon animated series. Play as one of your favorite characters and experience an action-packed storyline set between the show's first and second seasons. The side-scrolling brawler brings plenty of TMNT attitude and martial-arts mayhem in big melees and cool, animated cut scenes. Play the adventure in single player or team up with friends to become a force of four and use Turtle Powers to save the city in drop-in/drop-out local co-op play.

Step 1: Regular Playthrough (None Timed)

Start the game by playing through the story line. There are sixteen levels. Each level is fairly short and enemies aren't difficult. During this playthrough you will pick up a handful of the achievements. As you play keep a few achievements in mind like; In Your Face!, Snag 'Em and Bag 'Em, Ninja Aim Yo!, I Like Breakin' Stuff. These will all come naturally as you play, and some might even unlock without you knowing. Also there are collectibles in this game. They are all very simple to find and shouldn't give you a hard time.

Also you will need to collect Energy Shards. These will help you upgrade each turtle. The Energy Shards are shared between the four turtles. Chances are you will not be able to fully max out all four turtles in one playthrough. But don't worry. You will need to play the story line one more time in Time Attack and also play 35 waves of Survival Mode. Which will give more than enough Energy Shards to upgrade each turtle.

Step2: Time Attack Playthrough

Time Attack will need to be unlocked by collecting 11 Mutagen Canisters.

In Time Attack you will need to play through the story line again and beat each level under the time given. The times to beat are very generous. Having one or more turtles fully maxed out does help in defeating enemies faster and will save you time. See the related achievements below in the guide for more details.

Step 3: Survival Mode

Survival Mode will need to be unlocked by collecting 18 Mutagen Canisters.

Survival Mode is a hoard based game mode. In which you will need to defend yourself from waves of evil enemies trying to defeat you. See "Turtle Power!" for more details.

See "Turtle Power!" for more details.

Beat wave 35 in Survival Mode!

To unlock Survival Mode you will need to collect 18 Mutagen Canisters. To access Survival Mode, from the main menu select Extra > Survival Mode.

Survival Mode is actually pretty easy. You will need to beat wave 35 to unlock this achievement. You will get five lives to start off with, so make them count. I would recommend at least having one or all of your turtles fully maxed out. I personally used Leo all the way through. Felt like his attacks and special ability were more effective.

There are three Survival maps: 1-3b Fishface, 2-1b Dojo, 5-4 Shredder's Throne. Probably the best level to do would be 1-3b Fishface. The enemies will drop down in waves onto the raft.

A few tips for Survival:

1. If an enemy flashes red, immediately run out of the way. The enemy is using an unblockable attack and even using a special attack with the B button will not connect.

2. Always take out Rat Kings first (they are the Rats with the Raiden hats that like to toss bombs at you. Also any Krangs with a ranged weapon for that matter.

3. Don't be afraid to spam the Special attack when the meter is filled. Using Leo was a good choice for me because his special attack seemed to always regenerate after 3 secs.

Completed Environment 1 in Time Attack!

To unlock the Time Attack events you will need to collect 11 Mutagen Canisters. But will need to complete the game at least once to have all story levels unlocked. To access the Time Attack, from the main menu select Extra > Time Attack.

The times to beat for each level are very generous. Try not to waste to much time collecting energy shards and you should finish the level with a few minutes to spare. You will need to complete each individual level again to unlock the specific achievement. Also would recommend having one or all your turtles upgraded.

  • 1-1 Roof - Time to beat > 00:06:45
  • 1-2 Alleyways - Time to beat > 00:10:00
  • 1-3 Docks - Time to complete > 00:08:15

  • 2-1 Underground - Time to beat > 00:06:34
  • 2-2 Subway - Time to beat > 00:13:00
  • 2-3 Stockman Lab - Time to beat > 00:05:15

  • 3-1 On The Shellraiser - Time to beat > 00:03:45
  • 3-2 Dojo's Rooftop - Time to beat > 00:09:30
  • 3-3 Dogpound - Time to beat > 00:05:15

See "Time for Pizza!" for more details.

  • 4-1 Kraang Warehouse - Time to beat > 00:14:30
  • 4-2 Mutagen Facility - Time to beat > 00:09:45
  • 4-3 Super-Mutant - Time to beat > 00:06:25

Completed Environment 5 in Time Attack!

See "Time for Pizza!" for more details.

  • 5-1 Back on the Shellraiser - Time to beat > 00:05:45
  • 5-2 Streets - Time to beat > 00:12:45
  • 5-3 Shredder's Lair - Time to beat > 00:06:30

Threw 10 enemies at the screen.

To throw enemies at the screen you will need to lower down there health first. Then once an enemy is stunned, you will see a :ybut: prompt above their head. Press :ybut: + :ls: down, this will causes the enemy to be thrown at the screen and slide down it. This can done at any point of the game with just about every enemy.

Trapped 10 enemies in containers!

To throw enemies into containers you will need to lower there health first. The containers in which you can throw enemies in will be marked with a green arrow above them. Once an enemy is stunned, you will see a :ybut: prompt above their head. Press :ybut: + :ls: towards the direction of the container, this will causes the enemy to be thrown into it and be trapped. A good amount of the levels have containers, so this should come naturally.

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/achievements/2784/34.jpg Ninja Aim Yo! 30:gsicon:

Destroyed 10 objects by thrown enemies!

To throw enemies into breakable objects you will need to lower there health first. Once an enemy is stunned, you will see a :ybut: prompt above their head. Press :ybut: and use the :ls: to throw the enemy to the nearest breakable object. Many level have breakable objects, so this should come naturally.

A good place to grind this out if you are having trouble is 5-2 Streets. There are many creates and park benches.

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/achievements/2784/35.jpg Need Bigger Pockets 30:gsicon:

Had 10,000 Energy Shards available to spend.

This will come naturally through your play through. You will earn around 10, 000 Energy Shards by the end of level 1-1 Roof.

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/achievements/2784/36.jpg I Like Breakin' Stuff 30:gsicon:

Destroyed 100 objects.

This will come naturally through your play through. There are a lot of breakable objects spread out through each level (ex. wooden crates, garbage cans, etc). Simply break all the objects you coming contact with and you wont have a problem in getting this.

Thanks for the guide, it's off to a very good start. I think you are just about right for the difficulty rating and time to finish. This is a very easy 1,000 and a great one to gamefly. "1"s I should be saved for the real brain dead stuff like Avatar.

The secrets like you mentioned are easy to find and make humming noises when you are near them. The only one I had trouble with so far is on 2-2. It's in between some subway cars a little bit to left in the same room where you fight the giant mouser but I don't think it will trigger till after you beat this boss?

For the upgrading achievements, how much shard can I expect to get by one playthrough? Wondering if there will be lots of grinding required?

Is it possible to get enough to upgrade one of the turtles and then make a copy of the save in order to get all the achieves and then continue playing with your favorite turtle to save time of grinding (if any is needed)?

Thanks! I will leave the difficulty and time as it is. Yes this game is really easy but somewhat still fun to play.

Yup I was going to add that to the guide. And was going to add to just walk through the levels slowly and check every corner, alley, walkways, etc.

Well I got around 202, 650 ES in one playthrough. I know if you replay the level 1-1 Roof you get around 10, 000 ES each time and its a very short level.

I am not sure if you can do that. But the money is all shared between all turtles and it doesn't take very long to upgrade a turtle fully.

Also you have to do time trial, which is basically going through the game a 2nd time and survival. You will still earn upgrade points through these. There's really no need to grind. I maxed out my last turtle after I was done with my story playthrough and survival before starting time trial.

Also wanted to mention that this achievement description;

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/achievements/2784/34.jpg Ninja Aim Yo! 30:gsicon:

Destroyed 10 objects by thrown enemies!

Is worded poorly and can be confusing. I was trying to hit the bombs some of the FOOT and the fish that the first boss where throwing at you. You have to throw enemies into breakable objects to get this. Thanks to VA5HtheSTAMPEDE for pointing this out to me.

Ninja Aim Yo! 30:gsicon:

Destroyed 10 objects by thrown enemies!

As stated above I had the same problem. Until I realized you had to throw the enemies through the crates and park benches. The only enemy that throws stuff at you is Fishface and when it didnt pop, I realized that you have to throw the enemies crashing through objects when they are stunned and have a Y above their head. The best place to grind this is 5-2 as there are many crates and park benches in the background.

Also for upgrading your turtles, you can still use your favorite turtle! When I completed the game the first time, I choose to go after the Survival achievement second, as I had Leo, Donny, and half of Raf already built up. After wave 35, you should have 90000 to 100000 energy shards accumulated before doing your Time Attack run! At wave 36, you can either keep going or let your turtles die to collect all the shards you just grinded out. I did Fishface survival raft and enemies would drop down in waves.

Couple tips for Survival.

Hope this helps!

Do you have any links to any videos for the collectibles? I'm missing one in 1-2. I've scouted the level four times to no avail for this missing one.

I didn't notice any humming sound when I'm near one, only a different sound when I'm near a secret. Then again, I usually play the game in very low volume when my wife's sleeping. It's quite frustrating having to replay many times to find one missing mutagen canister.

I didn't notice any humming sound when I'm near one, only a different sound when I'm near a secret. Then again, I usually play the game in very low volume when my wife's sleeping. It's quite frustrating having to replay many times to find one missing mutagen canister.

I've took down notes where I've found them. I'm going to try throwing together a collectibles guide when I can. For 1-2 the only one I can remember is going left at the start of the level instead of right, but I can consult my notes when I get home. Just for your information, I've found every canister on one playthrough without replaying any levels, so they should be very easy to find. You may have to turn your volume up to hear the humming sound.

And a note to everyone else (may want to include this in your guide Meon): When you get 73,000 ES total, you can unlock the "Max Out" achievements for all characters. With 73,000 ES you can purchase the upgrades for one character and the achievement will pop. Then, without pressing left or right or backing out or anything you can simply go home from the guide button. The game only saves when you move to another character for upgrading or back out of the upgrade menu. When you quit to the dashboard the game does not save so you can go back in and you'll still have your 73,000 ES to spend.

...not that it makes a difference. You'll probably be able to upgrade everyone if you're going for 100%, but I liked popping all those Max Out achievements all in a row so I didn't have to worry about them.

BTW, do you even need to beat the times in Time Attack mode? It just says 'complete' the environments. Or do you fail mid-level if you go over the time limit?

EDIT: Just answered my question. You do not have to beat the target time. I was falling asleep during level 5-1, so I got third on the leaderboard at 6:02. I just went ahead and finished time attack and the achievement popped as normal after 5-4.

I just finished the time attack 2 and was over but didn't get the achievement. I didn't do them in one sitting, though. I was really hoping not to have to redo them.

Edit: I just redid it in one sitting, not making the target time, and the achievement pops. So the key is to do each set in one sitting, but not worry about target time I am guessing. I'll amend if it doesn't work for the rest. Great find, Xtowers.

just a heads up. No reason to grind to get all the shards. Save yourself some suffering. you will have more than enough when you complete the game, time trial, and the wave 30. Game is horrible. Would not recommend it unless you like shitty game or a Gamerscore whore like myself.

How was the Survival? I'm almost through with the timed trials. I agree that the game is a lot less enjoyable than I hoped. I think the one from 2006 was more fun.

EDIT: I just finished it and it wasn't bad at all. The level on the guide is really a straight forward level to use. In the end I was left with 3 lives, all of which were because the other turtles died. Silly that they are supposed to help, but don't.

MeonOner: Thank you for the guide. Top notch and helped me breeze through the game.

Time Attack unlocks after collecting 11 Mutagen Canisters.

Survival Mode unlocks after collecting 18 Mutagen Canisters.

Additionally, there's a Mini Game which unlocks after collecting 33 Mutagen Canisters.

Yea I wasnt sure how many Mutagen Canisters needed to be collected to unlock Time Attack & Survival Mode. I will update the info in the guide. Thanks http://www.xbox360achievements.org/forum/images/icons/icon14.gif

Yup, no need to sit and grind out shards. You should definitely have more than enough once you finish 35 waves in Survival and complete each level again in Time Attacks. Not sure if I added this info into the guide and roadmap. I will skim through it once more and add this bit of detail if I missed it.
