  • 5 months later...
DOTW has sucked for at least a few weeks now, IMO anyways, however there have been awesome deals in the past. Almost every XBLA on my profile came from DOTW, same with most DLC on my profile.

Heh i ment has there ever been just a single item that was put on sale, and yeah i havent bought anything on sale since the south park tower defence went on sale.

Why cant Trenched/Iron brigade and Guardian heroes go on sale? :(

Want both fuck paying full price

Due to legal reasons Trenched was changed to Iron Brigade(as I believe you were alluding to). I imagine that due to this legal matter, we won't see Iron Brigade go an sale for a while. Maybe summertime if we're lucky? /end pure specualtion

If you check the second post, you'll see the last time there was a single item on sale for DotW. Which was.....

December 20 – December 26

XBLA games

Rock of Ages – 400 MSP 50% off

I do agree, these Deal of the Weeks are very meh, especially so since they're repeats. As I've stated before, expect repeat and ho hum sales since Microsoft has their House Party for arcade games coming up and they don't want to have too many "awesome deals" so as to take away from House Party sales. Maybe mid-March we'll see something new for DotW :(

Our own x360a news team covered it, but here's the lowdown....

The action strategy title has been in limbo concerning its release in PAL territories for a while now, following a legal entanglement over the Trenched name, which was deemed too similar to the board game Trench.

Trenched will now be renamed Iron Brigade everywhere, and the European XBLA launch will bring with it some bonus content as a sweetener to make up for the long wait. Trenched had released in North America back in June, but the ensuing trademark dispute and Microsoft's long certification process has seen the game put on hold in Europe, until now. http://www.xbox360achievements.org/news/news-10147-Iron-Brigade-Finally-Gets-a-Proper-EU-Release-Date.html

Due to the legal battles and renaming, I imagine it won't go on sale anytime soon. Oh well. Looks like I'll cave and buy Bastion this week :)

Wow...I could have sworn I've heard of other situations where people didn't get bent out of shape to names sounding too similar. Copywrite these days...it's a bitch. Thanks for the info, would suck if there was a board game out there somewhere named Iron Brigade...;>___> "WTF WE HAVE TO CHANGE IT AGAIN?! GOD, THERE'S NO OTHER NAMES AVAILABLE!"

Okay, don't have time to update the OP yet, but the Xbox Live Reward for the month of February is 5% back for XBL purchases. This includes - game add-ons, arcade games, avatar stuff, movie rentals, etc. This combined with the House Party rebate, means you can save quite a bit of money. I'll have all the details later and this will be reflected in the OP, but right now I gotta go work for a bit :( LOL

I see that they are recycling Xbox Rewards now... Just a word of warning it took 5 months and a lot of chasing to get my 5% back last time this offer was on.

Okay, added in the Xbox Reward for the month of February. Will update the February price drops when they start showing up on people's dashboard or MS gives us a complete list.

The Deal of the Week AND Xbox rewards are being recylced?!?!?! This is so out of character for Microsoft / end sarcasm.

I too throw in the warning. I purchased some items and I never received my 400 points as part of the promotion. I called MS customer service a few times and spent over 3 hours talking to reps and I just got sick and tired of fighting for $5. I have better things in life to do than waste my time (like play games! :p)......They did end up calling back(weeks later) and during the day on my home phone. The kicker was I told them weeks ago to call my cell after 5pm, since I wouldn't be able to answer my phone. Customer Service, yeah right.......

I broke down & bought it last night night, I don't think it will ever go down to 400.

Yeah, after regretting not getting Bastion during the one day sale and then having a week to mull over purchasing Bastion for 600, I bit. It miiiiight go down to 400 sometime, but I wanted it now and I had the points.....Shoulda waited to buy the game instead of last night since I coulda gotten some points back from the Xbox Rewards program. Ah well

I renewed my Gold subscription through the console back on December 24th via the dashboard. There was an offer for getting "600 microsoft points" for doing so, so I renewed...and I still haven't received these points. [Waggly Bean] did the same thing and I'm not sure he received his points either...but strangely enough, I DID get credited 400 MSP on the Xbox Live Reward program. Does this mean I'll get both the 500 (that's been pending since the first week of January) AND the 600? Or are they skemping out on that 600 points deal all together...

Also, I know the thing says "deposited by the 15th of the next month"...is it DIRECTLY on the 15th or can it appear any time now? I'm waiting on that 500 MSP...if they hurry, I can buy Bastion.

Final question, the 5% back thing...does it matter where I do it? From the dashboard or do I have to click the offer, then get linked to the marketplace and buy stuff from there? Do the points appear on my account, is it deducted from the total cost or does it appear on the "pending points" on Xbox Live Rewards?

You can do it from the site or the dashboard, doesn't matter. Also, the points won't show up on your rewards page until after Feb, and will be marked "pending" until they are distributed.

I don't think I've had mine yet either, but I haven't checked in a couple of days.

The small print said 4-6 weeks though - you're still a day off the six week mark! :p

I however am a day over, so it should be there - I will try to remember to check tonight. :)

EDIT: Just checked MS billing and no, I haven't had it yet... :(

No news on the price drops for february?

It usually takes a few days into the month before the drops start showing up on others dashboards. After one week, MS usually sends out a list of official price drops for the month. Others find the drops by searching specific arcade games/add-ons and noticing the drop. Too time consuming for me lol
