Boosta
I played (and loved) AC1 and AC2. I never bothered picking up Brotherhood, but does it add to the story? Do I need to play it before I move on to Revelations? Thanks for your responses.
Ihazcandy4you
Yeah definitely. IMO the story isnt quite as well done as AC2 but it is still really good, the sidequests are much better and the MP is worth playing a bit at least. If you love the series you wont be disappointed in any way.
Guitarr Steve
The story is awesome in my opinion, and being able to recruit assassins adds a whole new concept to the game than you've ever experienced before.
Carmona
The fact that you asked shows that you haven't involved your self in the series...any fan of the series would not even question playing a game.
Starlight126
A concrete reason to play this game if you want to play the next episode is that at the end of Brotherhood there are scenes which will most likely be the starting point of Revelations, as well as as its "The Truth" set of minigames. Other than this, you can save your bucks since it doesn't add anything special to what Assassin's Creed II already was, except the assassins-recruitment which is a nice feature as somebody else said, although it doesn't add anything to the gameplay and is actually a cheap way around the problems which you won't like or use if you like the "assassin style", working your way to score a perfect undetected kill of your target by yourself. So, for your main question, yes, there are news about the plot which you want to know before playing Revelations. If you're not interested in trying the few new features and playing the few new missions, just use 15 minutes of your time to search on youtube the intro and the ending of this game, then search for "The Truth" and you will know everything you need to play Revelations without gaps in the story. Otherwise, pick it up. This game is a step back from Assassin's Creed II, but is totally worth its current price nonetheless.
bblcreator8790
You need to play it for the story. It's a direct sequel to ACII, and if you skip this and Revelations and just wait for ACIII, you will be lost in terms of the story.

McGoogles
No one is forcing you, but I recommend at least renting it. The multiplayer feature is one of a kind and is something that every Assassin's Creed fan should experience. The campaign is pretty decent as well. You took the words right out of my mouth! Of course you need to play this if you want to understand what's going on. If you loved the other 2 so much then why haven't you picked up this great game? Foxxy kyle
Defiantly play it, I was on the same boat as you. And i just started playing it about 2 days ago. And its amazing. Very glad I started playing it!
Dz06lt
without spoiling anything the ending of ACB is 100% necessary to continue the story
Trueflight
Unless you have a huge backlog, I don't see why you wouldn't pick this up if you love the series. I paid $30 CDN at Future Shop, but I've seen it for around $20 on Amazon. It came out in Nov. last year, so that's a steal of a price for a 1 year old game! Tsaako
It's a pretty good game and conflicts with the story, I'd go ahead and play it.
Jurassic Parky
It adds some more depth to the story, although the main story in ACII seems longer. The multiplayer adds something new though, it's pretty fun.

IRISHCAB4
Need to? NO. But should you? YES. It definitely adds to the story. That is one of the things I really like about AC...the story and the history interlaced.
EvilWays
Unless you're ready for frustrating bullshit mission requirements for 100% sync (I'm looking at you Young At Heart), do a 360 and walk away. If not, go for it.

txlonghorn124
It helps a lot. YOu could probably piece together the story by yourself but the game is awesome so why not buy it.
