When I was doing Chaos mode I used Zhao Yun and did half of the scenarios with him. At He Fei somehow I found it too hard and tried it with Lu Bu and, indeed, I got the achievement in a short period of time. Actually he is good for Chaos since he attacks everything around him which is good when you're surrounded by 5 officers and their soldiers.

I did weapon and horse farming with Liu Bei and a "find saddle" horse in Battle of Guan Du as Cao Cao's forces and Shi Ting either at Wu or Wei side, difficulty easy. Liu Bei has "Lady Luck" skill, it really helps you find the best horses and weapons. If you want to farm on Chaos mode to help eliminate the worst I suggest you use Liu Bei as well. His attack style is similar to Lu Bu's.

Back to Chaos mode. If you're doing Hu-Lao Gate as Lu Bu's forces I suggest you to choose Lu Bu as your character. By doing so Zhang Liao and Diao Chan will follow you through the whole map, it's good if you're trying to capture a base because they'll surely help you defeat the officers. Also if you don't want them to die when they are in trouble you can just move away to a safe place and they'll follow you regenerating their health automatically. And don't forget to load musou while waiting for them.
I don't know if this applies to all the other of his officers and other scenarios, I just noticed it in Hu-Lao Gate.

You need to finish musou mode with Diao Chan, Liu Bei, Cao Cao and Sun Jian

AWESOME guide, awesome! I'm a Dynasty Warriors NUT and these last two achievements are a killer! Just coming back to DW6 after 100% on Orochi 2 (why do we do it, people?) and after reading through your post I feel ready for it again!
Keep up the good work!

Heh, I keep reading that people think DW6 is easier than WO2 for the full 1000, but I find WO2 a walkover. Lvl 4 weapon with Ice, Flash and Almighty and you're basically untouchable. I don't see taht being the case here.

Warriors Orochi 2 really is a walkover, it only takes much time because of having to clear all dream mode scenarios. DW6 Chaos mode may not be that time-consuming but can be very frustrating sometimes...

I am about to rip something in half. I started clearing Chaos Mode stages last night with Sun Shang Xiang. I cleared up to Guan Du, which wasn't too much, but it was enough.

I load up this morning, and all my save data is gone. No cleared Musou Modes, no generals unlocked, all generals I have at level 1.

Seriously. Fuck this game.

Don't buy games you don't like. Especially if you whine about them afterwards when something goes wrong.

That's probably because your lowest stat has to be at 495, which is higher than your 487 :/

No, 485 is fine.

But I've found that sometimes, on a few occasions, it doesn't want to get the rare trait. Just reload and try again, unfortunately.

Thumbs up

Best way in my opinion to do chaos mode is using Sun Shang Xiang with either an Ice or Thunder element bow, keep your distance and rain hell!

great guide, thank you...

the only thing that didn't work for me is the chaos guide. Everyone seems to favor the bow characters for chaos, but I couldn't get them to work for me some peon would always sneak up behind me as I was shooting and begin hitting me before I could stop and move around again.

The easiest way I found to defeat most Chaos mode scenarios was with Zhuge Liang. Run into the enemy main camp and use fire attack. Hop off your horse and musou attack the main enemy general.

The only scenarios that doesn't work on are the ones where you have to kill all generals (Lu Bu campaign mostly). LuBu's Hu-Lao gate gave me so many problems since if I wasn't dying Lu Bu would. The only way I could beat it (and a few other "defeat: Lu Bu withdraws" missions) was by picking Lu Bu as my character and playing through on horseback the whole time. The advantage from this is you take less damage, but you also do less damage as well. Thankfully I had a high powered weapon and a legendary horse I couldn't be knocked off of (the black one) so I could ride up to most generals, guard break them with a strong attack right into a musou and keep them suspended in the air until they died.

also, Mystic Seal is way underrated in this guide. Its not as strong as flash when it activates, but if you have both Mystic Seal and Flash on the same weapon, sometimes both activate at the same time and seriously mess up enemy generals knocking off between a quarter to half of their health.

I got a rare horse the other day... But it didn't gain any special abilities when it hit level 5, even though no stat was below 485. Tried loading and re-trying several times, but nothing worked. Unfortunate.

Can't seem to finish Chaos mode with anyone, regardless of weapon. Sometimes luck is just against you the whole damn way.

I finally completed all the achievements in DW6. Thanks heaps for guide gave me a bunch of ideas I hadn't thought of, as well as explained how horse leveling works (not sure why it isnt explained better in game). Left Hu Lao Gate (LuBu) until last, used Yue Ying for it. Just baby sat Lubu unless he was no where near an enemy officer. Then I ran to nearest base/office and captured/killed them. Had to do it twice though. Got careless after killing all respawn guys at the bottom, only 4 officers no name officers left and I let them kill me

I realise I'm a few years too late to mention this... but the names aren't completely random.

So far as I can tell, the horses seem to be predefined with a name, stats and colour... probably on some table somewhere. I believe there might be a couple here and there that share a name, but it isn't totally randomised. For instance, there are only a limited few possible Red Rares. Ultimate Dream is one of them, and Evening Star is another.

Apparently also things like Targets gained during a level make a difference to the horses received... but I can't even begin to figure out exactly what difference it makes. On my first playthrough a few years back, I got my Red Hare King from the constant He Fei Castle runs I was doing... don't remember the difficulty.
This time I haven't been able to get one.... but I got the White Rare from Chang Ban and the Black Rare from Guan Du ... both easy.

.

[Edit]: Got rares of all colours now. My Red Hare King is called Evening Star. Same name as on my previous playthrough. Got him all 500s by the skin of my teeth.

Additionally.... I thought I might mention.... when farming weapons on He Fei Castle (Wei Side), I find it much easier to get player two into the South Inner Watchpost than to dump them in the water. Rather than doubling back, turning left, right, right, navigating between two fences and then jumping over another... it tends to be easier to make three right turns into the archer-base at the top. It helps additionally that you start by making exactly the same moves with both controllers to get to where you need to go, so it should be done before the belt-trap cutscene every single time.
I've never once seen a single enemy soldier enter the South Inner Watchpost in the hundreds of times I've run the stage. I've only rarely seen them even go up onto the upper level (Cao Pi's starting point if you play as him) from the pit-trap (where Zhang Liao starts when played).

[Edit 2]: Oh, and I also found another thing.... or two things if I mention that levelling up characters on Master difficulty seems to have the highest experience to actual difficulty ratio. It is barely tougher than Hard, but the XP boosts are the same as on Chaos (or close enough)... and it gets better weapons than Hard too.

What I was actually getting at is that since I do all my levelling on He Fei Castle, I've been essentially specialising officers and their weapons for the task of charging onto the crowded back-boat and assassinating Sun Quan. And of course I've noticed a few extra trends :

#1. Characters with blunt weapons seem considerably worse for this task than characters with bladed weapons. I believe a lot of this is down to short range, low speed, and paradoxically enough a lot of thrusting attacks as opposed to wide sweeps. I gave up trying to use Xiahou Dun completely after he kept dying needlessly. Xu Huang was MUCH better.

#2. Berserk. I don't know why people hate it so much. The boost to damage is significant, and it counts for every hit rather than only rarely triggering like Flash. While it is less effective on Chaos difficulty, it is about equal to Flash on Master and below for the average damage boost. All my Master difficulty assassination weapons have both Berserk and Flash on them.

#3. Since the range boost for Standard weapons is proportional to the base range of the weapon, you get higher pay-off with Standard polearms than you do with swords and the like. For characters that use fast sword attacks, it is rather more effective to use Speed weapons instead of Standard... assuming you have one with high enough damage (not that difficult to get on He Fei Castle Master-diff)...

#4. I thought Lightning was the best element to have on horses. Turns out I might have been wrong. Since I got my second Auburn King (the crowd-ploughing horse of choice), I set up the second one with Ice instead of Lightning (also Arrow Dance, since Sun Quan's flaming arrow special is annoying), and I found it is marginally more effective at killing officers than my Lightning one.
Now why would this be?
Oh yes... because frozen enemies take more damage from attacks. The Ice element, where it triggers, is applied before the trampling damage from the horse's hooves (which usually breaks the ice too)... so the trample damage is magnified by the ice for that split fragment of a second. O'course SOME enemies don't get trampled but do get frozen, so they stay that way.

... I'm still trying to quantify whether having a different element for the character's weapon to the horse OR to the character's default musou element makes a significant difference. I only started testing this after noticing that Sima Yi's charge-Y doesn't trigger the same with Ice claws as with Lightning claws, since the secondary effect automatically causes Ice.
