Welcome to World of Tanks: Xbox 360 Edition, based off the hugely popular MMO PC game World of Tanks. Developed by Wargaming.net, the game like the original is free to play for Gold Xbox Live members, and also includes various micro transactions such as in-game currency, premium tanks and XP boosters. Although these are not required for any achievements, they can help tremendously in speeding up the process of buying more expensive, higher tier tanks and upgrades.

 

The game features over 100 unique tanks spanning five categories of; light tanks, medium tanks, heavy tanks, tank destroyers & artillery. The game offers 7 maps of which include Cliff, Mines, Malinovka, Sand River, West Field, Province & Mountain Pass.

 

Games Played

There are 15 achievements for 200:gsicon simply for playing matches online. These are 3 achievements, to play 10, 50 & 100 matches in each of the 5 types of tanks; light tanks, medium tanks, heavy tanks, tank destroyers & artillery and therefore ultimately you must play 500 matches. The important factor that make these achievements quickly obtainable, is that you're not required to finish a match for it to count, games are counted as "finished" as soon as you join one.

 

This means, you can simply quit from the match by going to the garage on the pause menu and then join another game with another tank from any class. You cannot use the same tank you just left a game from as it will be unable for the remainder of that game. While in the garage, you will see the "In battle" message on the tanks that are currently in matches in progress. You will get a notification via a ringing sound when a tank is available to use again. As you progress with XP, the more tanks you own from different classes, the faster these achievements will go by. The 500 total matches can be done in around 15hrs if you only do this, though it is not recommended as you will want to play to earn Silver and XP for a while.

 

Note: Games that you quit from will deduct a very small amount of silver (a couple hundred silver points) for repairs as you're essentially destroying you own tank when quitting from a match.

 

Researching Tanks

There are 4 achievements for 65:gsicon related to researching various tiers of tanks. Researching is essentially unlocking an upgrade for a tank with XP. At this point you unlock your research achievements, but in order to equip the upgrade to your tank you must then buy the upgrade with silver. More details below.

 

Currency

In terms of currency and XP for the game, you can HOLD :rtbut: while at the garage for details. In a nutshell, you can research tanks with either Tank XP represented by the silver star, this is XP that is earned by playing battles, and XP can only be spent on the tank it was earned in. Then there is Free XP represented by the gold star, and this is 5% of the XP you earn in a battle, and can be used on all tanks. A mix of both types of XP can be spent on a single upgrade if required. Silver is main currency of the game and it is earned from playing battles online based on your performance in a match, and this is what is used to buy upgrades (packages) after you have researched the, consumables and equipment for your tanks. Lastly, there is Gold which can only be bought with real money, this is used to buy rarer tanks in the game as well as more advanced equipment.

 

Collecting Tanks

There are 3 achievements for 30:gsicon where each achievement requires you to own 5 tanks at the same time from each of the 3 respective countries, American, British & German. You only have 6 spaces for tanks in your garage, though you can buy an extra 7th slot for 300 gold which costs real money. It is recommended that you work on your German tank collection first, as they will be the cheapest in reaching 5 owned tanks, this means you must sell your other tanks to have enough space in the Garage. When selling a tank, you get a considerable amount less silver than what the tank is worth, so you should buy and sell accordingly.

 

Note: You can sell your tier one tanks and buy them back at any time free of cost. You can also buy premium tanks with gold and these will count.

 

Miscellaneous

There are several miscellaneous achievements that will come during natural play such as completing the tutorial, winning a battle, researching a tank, buying an upgrade, destroying tanks (500 total) and the secret achievement for squashing a tank.

You've completed the training.

 

While at the Garage, select the All Vehicles tab by going up and down with :ls: and choose Training. It lasts roughly 5 minutes and teaches you the basics such as aiming your turret, moving your tank and shooting enemies. You do not have to watch any of the videos.

You've acquired your first upgrade.

 

You can upgrade your owned tanks by pressing :xbut: on a selected tank in the Garage. Choose Packages and research any package available with your Tank/Free XP, then you must buy the package by selecting it again with silver.

 

You can unlock this achievement the first time you enter the Garage as you start off with two light tanks; the T1 Cunningham & Leichtraktor as well as a medium tank; the Vickers Medium Mk.I. as well as some welcome XP & Silver.

Self explanatory. This will be one of your first achievements. You must be alive at the end of the game when you win, but you do not have to get any kills to earn the achievement.

You’ve completely researched a tank!

 

The cheapest tank to research all the packages on is one of the starting German light tanks you start off with; the Leichtraktor. Once on the Packages screen, there are 4 packages and 4 tanks you will need to research, this will cost approximately 840XP. You will need to play a couple matches online with this tank to accumulate this amount of XP, 3-4 games maximum.

While on the tank tree for any nation (press :xbut: on a tank and press :rbbut:) you will notice tanks are in order of tiers and the cost and performance of tanks are increased as you progress into the tree. This is all ordered by tiers eg. Tier 1, 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 etc. = I, II, III, IV, V, VI, VII, VIII, IX, X.

 

For this achievement, you need to research a tier 3 tank. The German tanks are the best choice as they're the cheapest in order to reach tier 3 tanks. Gaining enough coins and XP to research a tier 3 tank itself will not take long either, typically 10-12 games if you save up

For this achievement, you need to research a tier 5 tank. The British tanks are the best choice as they're the cheapest in order to reach tier 5 tanks. Gaining enough coins and XP to research a tier 5 tank itself will take a little while, typically 30-35 games if you save up.

While on the tank tree for any nation (press :xbut: on a tank and press :rbbut:) you will notice tanks are in order of tiers and the cost and performance of tanks are increased as you progress into the tree. This is all ordered by tiers eg. Tier 1, 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 etc. = I, II, III, IV, V, VI, VII, VIII, IX, X.

 

For this achievement, you need to research a tier 7 tank. Similar to the tier 5 achievement, the British tanks are also the best choice here as they're the cheapest in order to reach tier 7 tanks compared to the USA & German tree's. Gaining enough coins and XP to research a tier 7 tank however will take a long, typically around 100 games assuming you're saving your coins and XP.

Self explanatory. This will take a little while. You will start off using light and medium tanks and slowly progress to unlocking heavy tanks and tank destroyer where you will have a much bigger chance of getting kills. Focusing on your upgrades, equipment, supplies etc. and saving XP/Silver appropriately is essential to so you can play ahead of which tank tree's you would like to focus on and purchase stronger tanks to be able to earn kills easier.

Death From Above - 10G

You've destroyed a tank, squishing them like a bug!

 

This is easiest done on the Training mission. Process through the level until you encounter the dummy tank. You should shoot it on the side once to bring its health down by half. Now you need to push the tank very gently with your tank towards the swamp, behind all the trees which your tank is able to crush down beforehand for a better view. You will need to push the tank from behind while staying extremely close to it by repeatedly pushing the :rs: back and forth to gradually nudge the dummy tank forward towards and down the swamp.

 

If you push the tank with too much force and speed then both you and the dummy tank will take damage, enough to gradually destroy both tanks within a couple minutes. You will hear the impact sound if you're hitting the tank too hard, whilst your tanks health is indicted on the bottom left. Once you approach the swamp, continue to push the tank down the hill into the swamp, then slowly drive over and land your tank directly on top of the dummy tank, and stay there until you destroy it which will only take 2-3 seconds. For pkaying as a certain tank achcievement, It seem your tank will be destroyed if you exit to garage after thimer runs out. Does it still count as a game played?

 

So long as you wait until the timer has ended its countdown, then yes, it counts. As the guide says, simply being in the beginning of any match adds to your total played as a given tank.

I can tell that the "Death From Above" achievement is going to be really hard to get. I'd try it on Mountain Pass. Falling off the tall bridge on Westfield will almost guarantee certain death, while the bridge on Mountain Pass isn't nearly as tall, and therefore you're at a smaller risk of killing yourself while landing on an enemy tank. Even so, it's going to be a lot of trial-and-error. I'll most likely get it out of dumb luck.

5% of the xp earned per battle is added to the free xp total.

I can tell that the "Death From Above" achievement is going to be really hard to get. I'd try it on Mountain Pass. Falling off the tall bridge on Westfield will almost guarantee certain death, while the bridge on Mountain Pass isn't nearly as tall, and therefore you're at a smaller risk of killing yourself while landing on an enemy tank. Even so, it's going to be a lot of trial-and-error. I'll most likely get it out of dumb luck.

 

Yeah, I don't even know where those spots you mentioned are. :p The game likes to put me in the same 2 or 3 maps. :/ But the achievement is defiantly a little luck based if I may say so.

Under the achievement "War" you say the enemy team has only 7 players when it can have a max of 15, smaller games are possible though especially at higher tiers where less people have ground that far yet.

Also under the collections achievements it would be worth pointing out if you sell your tier I tanks to make room for others you can buy them back for 0 silver.

Yeah my mistake, after about 30 full games that I've played till the end, it only just put me in a 15v15 game, I wasn't aware bigger games were possible prior.

 

I'm just about to work on the collection descriptions, will jot that important note down in the Roadmap. :)

From what I've researched, you spot an enemy if you see them in your line of sight first, or if you are within a certain range of them first, before your teammates do so.

Your range, and the enemy's camouflage rating, all determine the distance/proximity of spotting them.

Also, while you have an enemy in your sights, press LB to display a target icon for teammates to see.

If they're firing or moving will also affect when you see them, but the most important thing is view range. They dont have to be in the direction your gun is pointing, the commander does a 360 degree sweep around your tank every couple of seconds.

Also the 7vs7 game mode hasn't been implemented yet, what happened to you was just down to how many tanks there were in the respective queue.

You can get games ranging from 1vs1 all the way up to the 15vs15 maximum.

Also, while you have an enemy in your sights, press LB to display a target icon for teammates to see.

 

thing to remember is that Light tanks get the same camo rating when moving as they do standing still. Only way to buff it is to have a camo net that only works when you are standing still. Makes you even harder to spot. The rest got camo ratings depending on if they are moving or not, and if they are shooting. If you don't see anything form a covered position. As soon as they fire their camo rating takes a big drop. Makes em easier to spot.

 

Bushes gives a small bonus tho. But if it works the same way as the PC version. Hiding just behind em instead of inside em gives you the best effect to avoid getting spotted, but makes it harder to spot to. But since the tracers are shown form non spotted tanks to here. Its not that effective on low tier games where weakspots are not really an issue.

 

Even tho your view range is 360 meters. Does not indicate that you will spot em at that range regardless. That view range is if they are moving in the open. If they are standing still, with cover and got a camo net. You might even need to get as close as 150 meters on some tanks. If they are in thick forest areas or in a swamp like area with plenty of bushes... you might even need to get closer.

 

At 50 meters regardless of camo and their surroundings. Its an automatic proximity detection.

 

Best way to spot in general is in a light tank, find a spot that covers a wide area. Get camo and Binocs on it. Vents helps to. But since there is no crew tab here or crew skills. It still gives your commander a 5% buff. So you get a tiny bit more view range. Vents also helps the driver get around faster as his skills on soft terrain like swamps causes you to lose less speed. and the gun reloads a tad faster. Binocs give you 25% more and they all stack. So 500m at the max.

 

A perfect spot to scout and experiment with spotting is the bushes near F5 on malinovka "the green map with the wide open area with the white brick buildings on the south base" Take to the bushes near the center swamp overlooking the enemy base instead of charging the 1 line. If you start at the south, just head low and go to the first bush coming up behind it. I do this all the time in the M3 and M5 or other lights. Don't fire a single shot unless you have to. The game tells you if you spotted em or not with the binocs icons above the enemy. 600+ easy XP with 0 shots fired. If your team sticks around the base and sees the spotted targets that is.

I'm going to add prices of all tanks and cheapest tanks to buy for the research achievements soon. I just need to do it myself first! Honestly, the tank tree is still confusing me a little!

Also the 7vs7 game mode hasn't been implemented yet, what happened to you was just down to how many tanks there were in the respective queue.

You can get games ranging from 1vs1 all the way up to the 15vs15 maximum.

 

Damn I'm clueless. Like 99% of the games I join it's always 7v7 and the rest 15v15. I guess when the game dies down and less players are on etc. then I will start to join more varied games in terms of player count.

Landed on a Pz IV in my Matilda on Mines going down form the center hill... when I slided off it I had 1 HP left... great. But then again I'm sure it will be easier to get later on. I do this once a day on PC with the variated maps. So I guess it will come sooner or later.
