Introduction

Welcome to Dead or Alive 5 (also referred to as DOA5). This game has 48 achievements for 1000:gsicon: and is the fifth main versus-fighting installment in the Dead or Alive franchise. It was the first main title of the series to be released in seven years, following on from Dead or Alive 4 in 2005 and it is be the twelfth game in the series overall. Dead or Alive 5 was developed and produced by Team Ninja for the Xbox 360 as well as the Playstation 3 for the first time ever. The game also features a two new characters as well as three fighters from the Virtua Fighter franchise throw into the mix. Dead or Alive is known for it's "Rock, Paper, Scissors" style of gameplay. With Strikes over Throws, Throws over Holds, and Holds over Strikes. The game is more beginner friendly this time around as it contains tutorial help within some game modes. So you'll be able to latch on to some of the game's mechanics as you play. Listed below is the move legend:

:ybut:

P (Punch)

:bbut:
K (Kick)

:xbut:
H (Hold)

:abut:
T (Throw)

Are you a fighter? Because you will have to be if you're intent on getting 1000:gsicon: for this game. Dead or Alive 5 contains achievements related to Story, Arcade, Time Attack, and the extremely difficult Survival. It's a time consuming 1000 at that as you will have to collect 300 titles to unlock Alpha-152 as well as play 1000 online matches. Only the truly skilled will be able to outsmart this game's super A.I and clear all Fight Mode courses.

Step 1: Story Mode

Two years after the events of the fourth Dead or Alive World Combat Championship, Helena Douglas has taken full control of the Dead or Alive Tournament Executive Committee from the devious Victor Donovan and is re-building the company for the better. To inform the world of the return of DOATEC, Helena has make plans with Zack to host the fifth Dead or Alive Tournament and put on a show no one will forget. The Story Mode in DOA5 is different from previous ones as this one cycles through each playable character instead of each fighter having their own story. You will be given tutorial missions during fights to help you learn the way DOA is played. Be sure to not skip any story scenes for the Insomniac achievement.

 • Akira Yuki
 • Sarah Bryant
 • Insomniac
 • The Curtain Rises
 • Ninja Battle
 • ...And Then THIS Happened!

Step 2: Fight Modes

When selecting "Fight" from the main menu you will be given several modes to play. Arcade, Time-Attack, and Survival. There are 8 difficulties for each mode. You'll need to complete Arcade, Time Attack, & Survival modes a total of 40 times on all difficulties. 16 for Arcade mode both Solo & Tag, 16 for Time Attack both Solo & Tag, and 8 times for Survival, solo only. There's a total of 24 characters. You start out with 19 characters, you unlock 3 during story mode and the other 2 after obtaining 100 & 300 titles respectively. You'll need complete the Command Training of all 24 characters.

 • Arcade Cleared
 • Arcade Master
 • Time Attack Cleared
 • Time Attack Master
 • Survival Cleared
 • Survival Master

Step 3: Online Mode

Getting the online done for DOA5 will be fairly time-consuming. With the exception of 1000 matches you will also have to accept 50 throwdown challenges and play each type of online match. Nothing too difficult, but will take time, here are all online achievements:

 • Jump In
 • Rivals
 • Rival Rumble
 • Rival Rampage
 • First Throwdown
 • My Fight, My Rules
 • Get out there and Fight!
 • Fighting For Real
 • DOA5 Is My Life

Step 4: 300 Titles

In Dead or Alive 5 you will earn Titles for doing a number of things such as: clearing Story Mode missions, clearing Fight Mode courses, unlocking all of a character's costumes, winning online matches, and etc. You will need to earn 300 for these in order to unlock Alpha-152, who is needed in order to unlock other achievements. The easiest Titles to unlock deal with performing Power Blows and Cliffhanger attacks. While working on these Titles, here's what you may unlock:

 • Gesundheit!
 • Tango Kilo November
 • A Fight to Remember
 • Safety First
 • Cliffhanger Comeback
 • Failure Teaches Success
 • I Read Every Move

Step 5: Non Fighting-related Achievements

Easy enough step. here you'll be taking advantage of the Spectator Mode as well as other simple achievements. You'll need to perform 50 different Tag throw moves as well as view some of your fighting statistics in this step.

 • On the Edge of Your Seat
 • Fighter, Know Thyself
 • Ahhh, Memories
 • Say Cheese!
 • The Power of Two

Step 6: Finishing Up

By now there should only be a handful of achievements left for you to unlock. This is the step where you'll get the last of those 300 titles as well as complete any Training Modes or Survival Modes you were unable to clear before. Here's what you should have by this step:

 • Exercise Newbie
 • Fighting in Style
 • The Ultimate Hyper Clone
 • DOA5 Master

Conclusion

Seven years was a long time, but Dead or Alive has finally made its return to the Xbox 360. Compared to its predecessor, Dead or Alive 5 is possibly an easier completion overall with no SS Rank achievement and the toilsome Survival Mode being the most obnoxious part of the game. You will have to clear 4 courses of 100 opponents but with specific methods used, this will be a pretty DOA-ble completion with enough tenacity put forth. Achieving that will definitely put you over as truly earning the achievement DOA5 Master.

If you're an inspiring fighter who is serious about learning Dead or Alive 5's system see Free Step Dodges' forum page to learn more. Some of this guide will use numerical notations to show move inputs so if you don't understand them see HERE.

Simply complete a match either in Story Mode or in Online Mode and this achievement will unlock at the end of the match.

http://xb.exophase.com/achievements/880e396a/s/65587.pngRivals 20:gsicon:

Register 5 fighters in your Fight List.

After completing a match while playing DOA Online a menu will pop up giving you seven options to choose from:

 • Fight Again
 • Change Character
 • Search Menu
 • Controller
 • Fight Screen Info
 • Other Settings
 • Register in Fighter List

At the bottom of the menu there's an option that allows you to register that person in "Fighter List". Choose this option for your first 5 fights online and after registering the 5th fighter this achievement will unlock. Registering other players allows you to view a list of players you've registered by going to Online > Fighter List. Not only can you check your battle history with each opponent, you can also challenge them to battle by sending throwdown challenges any time as long as they are online.

Fight online 1000 times.

You must play 1000 online matches for this achievement. It matters not whether you win or lose these matches. This online achievement can be a pretty steep grind however there are numerous ways you can go about unlocking it depending on what you're willing to do to get it. You can either unlock this naturally by playing casually, some DOA enthusiasts would prefer to unlock it this way especially if you're trying to improve your game or raise your online rank, or this can simply be boosted 2 other ways that are listed below:

Simple Match Turbo Method

This method will require a controller with turbo functionality. From the main menu go to Online > Simple Match and set your match settings like so:

 • Rounds: Any
 • Region: Any

Turbo down the :abut: button and then leave your game idle. Your controller will continue to play matches and search until it matches up and repeats. The beauty of this method is that it doesn't require a boosting buddy and you can unlock the achievement within a day of boosting. Downside to this method is the possible hatemail you will receive as well as the easy 10 win character titles you'll miss out on in the process.

Turbo Boost with Friend

There's nothing wrong with this method either, as you can work towards character titles as well as unlock the achievement for both parties. You may want to go to Options > Controls > Controller and then down to Custom. From here you can re-map the Punch button to :abut: by highlighting Punch and hitting :abut: that way you can start up matches as well as attack your boosting partner. Next, from the main menu go to Online > Lobby Match. Press :ybut: and change the client settings like so:

 • Rounds: Small
 • Time Limit: 30
 • Max Health: Smallest
 • Players: 2
 • Private: 1

Press :abut: once you're done and then invite your boosting partner. Select Christie or Pai for this then leave the game idle and pile up matches why you're away. Instead of using turbo, you also have the option of getting 10 wins with each fighter to obtain easy titles to work towards unlocking The Ultimate Hyper Clone.

For boosting partners see the Achievement Trading thread. This achievement will unlock upon playing 1000 online matches.

http://xb.exophase.com/achievements/e1d35f5d/s/65591.pngMy Fight, My Rules 10:gsicon:

Create your own online lobby.

From the main menu select Online > Lobby Match > Create. The achievement will unlock automatically upon hitting :abut: to create your own Lobby.

http://xb.exophase.com/achievements/ac16c178/s/65592.pngGet out there and Fight! 10:gsicon:

Play a Lobby match.

From the main menu select Online and then go to Lobby. You can either create your own Lobby and wait for a player or friend to join, play a match with them, and unlock this or join another player's lobby. Once you're in a lobby wait for your turn to play a match. Once you play a match and a winner is decided this achievement will unlock.

http://xb.exophase.com/achievements/eee2bf58/s/65593.pngFighting For Real 10:gsicon:

Play a Ranked match.

You must simply play one Ranked match to the end. Ranked matches earn you points by winning them to improve your Grade. Points are only earned in Rank Matches, so you can enjoy the other modes without worrying about your Grade. From the main menu select Online then go to Ranked and attempt to match up with somebody. Complete the match and once a winner is decided this achievement will unlock.

http://xb.exophase.com/achievements/376b7919/s/65594.pngJump In 10:gsicon:

Play a Simple match.

Simple matches are "pick-up" fights that you can play that don't count against you whether you win or lose. They do not affect your rank and every time you select one you'll be sending a throwdown challenge to a random player who is connected to Xbox Live playing either Versus, Training, Arcade, or Time- Attack Mode(who has throwdowns turned on of course). Simple matches can be accessed from the Online menu. Upon playing and completing a simple match for the first time, this achievement will unlock.

http://xb.exophase.com/achievements/ddb7e23d/s/65595.pngGesundheit! 20:gsicon:

Trigger the Special Danger Zone in The Show.

New to Dead or Alive 5 are Danger Zones that change the tide of the fight. As a fight progresses, the backdrop will change and interact with you, giving you and your opponent a different challenge. Changes to the stages will happen as scripted events and can be triggered by specific actions, such as one of the fighters being thrown against a Danger Zone.

When knocked into a Danger Zone these are called a Cliffhanger. As opposed to simply falling when you get knocked down near empty footing, (e.g. over the edge of a cliff) the opponent has minimal time to recover, while their foe can choose to attack, sending them falling anyway but with additional damage. These cliffhangers will only appear in certain stages with multiple levels. For this achievement you will need to trigger the Special Danger Zone at The Show. To do this, you must perform a Charged Power Blow within proximity of the Clown Head that's in the background. If you don't know how to perform Power Blows see Blow Em' Away. Snakejl posted a video demonstration of this being done and it can be found by clicking the spoiler below so credit goes to him.

http://xb.exophase.com/achievements/5455f50e/s/65596.pngTango Kilo November 20:gsicon:

Trigger the Special Danger Zone in Hot Zone.

This achievement works similar to Gesundheit! except this time you'll have to do a Charged Power Blow in the Special Danger Zone at the Hot Zone Arena. This will be easier to pull off against a 2nd controller in Versus or with a friend online. As mentioned before your character must have 50% health or at least have their health meter flashing red in order to do Power Blows. Because Power Blows have varying inputs we will use Mila for example as hers is done by pressing and holding http://i45.tinypic.com/2s0b9k9.gif + :ybut::bbut:.

A chopper will make rounds during the stage by flying back and forth. Move around both characters to the point where the chopper is coming your way then perform Mila's Power Blow with her facing toward the chopper as it comes. The screen will fade to black and you will be able to use the :rs: stick to point where you want to punch your opponent. Point it at the chopper and if timed properly you'll knock them into the chopper and thus your achievement.

Snakejl posted a video demonstration of this being done and it can be found by clicking the spoiler below so credit goes to him.

Fight 10 people through invitations.

You must fight 10 people throw throwdown requests. Please see Anybody, Anytime, Anywhere for details.

Fight 50 people through invitations.

You must fight 50 people through throwdown challenges received in Fight Mode by pressing :back: button. In order for you to receive throwdown challenges you must be playing in either Versus, Arcade, or Training Mode with throwdowns turned on. These modes can be accessed by selecting Fight from the main menu. Throwdowns can be toggled on and off by hitting :xbut: while you're selecting between Solo or Tag in the Fight menus. Training Mode is the most ideal place to wait for invites since you can work on Command Training there while you wait. You will receive a notification of a red envelope in the lower right side of your screen when you are challenged. Hit :back: button to accept and you'll be thrown into a fight with a random who was playing Simple matches.

http://teamninja-studio.com/doa5/us/img/modes09.jpg

Throwdown Boosting

It's possible to boost this with a friend however only the person in Training mode who is accepting the invites with :back: will unlock the achievement. The person sending the throwdowns will not get it so you will need to take turns once it unlocks for the other person. Make sure you add your boosting buddy to your Fight List by playing an online match with them and registering them after the match. Next, make sure the person receiving throw downs has them turned on. Throwdowns can be toggled on and off by hitting :xbut: while you're selecting between Solo or Tag in the Fight menus. Don't forget this.

For boosting partners see the Achievement Trading thread. This will unlock upon accepting 50 throwdown invites.

http://xb.exophase.com/achievements/32c49717/s/65599.pngFirst Throwdown 20:gsicon:

Send a Throwdown Challenge to someone in your Fighter List.

You must send a Throwdown Challenge to a person that is registered in your Fight List for this achievement. To register a player in your Fight List you must play an online match and once a winner is decided there will be an option to add them to your list at the end of the match. Add them then exit the game. From there go to Fighter List from the Online menu, highlight their gamertag and hit :abut: to send them a throwdown. If they are not online playing in Versus, Arcade, or Training Mode with throwdowns turned on then there's no way they can receive or accept the invite. They must accept the invite in order for this to unlock. It may be best to do this achievement with a friend. See Anybody, Anytime, Anywhere for details.

To unlock Arcade Master you must clear all Arcade courses on all 8 difficulties under both Solo and Tag match. Solo Arcade consists of 8 stages while Tag Arcade only has a total of 5 stages. You will receive a score at the end of each Arcade run. This will require a total of 16 Arcade playthroughs to unlock. When first starting out only 4 difficulties are available for you to play. • Rookie
 • Easy
 • Normal
 • Hard
 • Champ
 • True Fighter
 • Master

Unlockable Rare Swimsuit

Please note that if you clear Legend difficulty for Arcade without using any continues then you will unlock a Rare Swimsuit for Tina Armstrong. You are permitted to use continues once you face her at Stage 5. You will need this Rare Swimsuit in order to get the Fighting In Style achievement.

These courses can easily be cleared with your preferred character and or team. If you need a cheap exploit then select Eliot and spam his http://i48.tinypic.com/2m63jo3.gif + :rtbut: spin kick move for easy wins. It has excellent range and if timed properly the A.I will fall for it every time even on Legend difficulty. You can simply wait for A.I to start attacking to let go of the charged attack as well. Keep your distance right and with a bit of Practice you'll have all courses cleared in no time with this tactic.

http://xb.exophase.com/achievements/63ed9ba3/s/65608.pngSurvival Master 30:gsicon:

Clear all courses in Survival mode.

Survival Mode makes a return in Dead or Alive 5 and this time you'll have to beat it even more times than before. Similar to Arcade and Time Attack you have a total of 8 difficulties, each one yielding a certain number of opponents you must defeat in succession. Every time you defeat an opponent your health will be partially regenerated, you no longer pick up food items to replenish your health like in the previous game. Unlike Dead or Alive 4, there is NO Tag Survivor so you will only have 8 courses to clear in Survival mode instead of 16 like the other modes. The difficulties (and the amount of opponents in each one) that must be cleared in Survival are:

 • Rookie: 10
 • Easy: 20
 • Normal: 30
 • Hard: 50
 • Champ: 100
 • True Fighter: 100
 • Master: 100
 • Legend: 100

Unlockable Rare Swimsuit

Please note that if you defeat all 100 opponents on Legend difficulty for Survival you will unlock a Rare Swimsuit for Lisa. She will be your 100th opponent and she will be wearing the unlockable swimsuit. You will need this Rare Swimsuit in order to get the Fighting In Style achievement.

Survival Mode has become more of a chore than in Dead or Alive 4 because instead of only having to defeat 100 opponents twice for Survival Mode in Solo and Tag, you must now do it four times Solo only for Dead or Alive 5. The venue in which Survival takes place has also changed. Instead of being held in the D.W.A Coliseum now known as Fighting Entertainment, Survival is now help at the newly built Dead or Alive stadium. It's much larger than the wrestling ring from the previous game, which means more room to move around and less bashing opponents into ropes easily for big damage. Some notes on the A.I:

 • After every 9 wins you will receive a Super version of an opponent at your 10th fight.
 • Be careful with the Super opponents as they are aggressive and will do anything they can to end you.
 • Turning on Fight Info under Settings for Both sides will help you read your opponents better.

Though, since release, there are a number of exploits revealed from the fighting game community that you can use to beat Survival but it will still take some time and practice even with the methods mentioned below:

http://www.freestepdodge.com/images/alpha-152.jpgAlpha-152 Method

If you have her unlocked, Alpha-152 she can prove to be quite useful in Survival and wanzerpilot09 has a full guide for her that can be found HERE.

http://images3.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20120806172834/deadoralive/images/thumb/2/20/LeifangIcon2.png/68px-LeifangIcon2.pngLei Fang Method

Just because her Power Blow doesnt work as well doesnt mean she isn't useful. Lei Fang is one of the safest characters in the game with the right strategy. Juri Han 7 has a full guide for her that can be found HERE.

http://images3.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20120806172835/deadoralive/images/thumb/a/a2/LisaIcon2.png/68px-LisaIcon2.pngLa Mariposa Method

Perform the following combo 1P, K, 6P, 236K (Critical Burst), 8K (Launcher), 4P, K, Throw (Air-Grab) on the A.I throughout Survival until they are knocked out. Repeat until all foes are defeated. Against Bass and Bayman be sure to substitute the air grab for 4K+H.

Stay away from the electric rope perimeter as they will screw up your combo and you can get smashed against them as the A.I does wake-up attacks. If you can stay near the middle of the arena, you should be fine.

Credit for this effective method goes to Cyric 79. Please see his original post on Gamefaqs for details. RA1NKING also has an alternate way to do the combo and his video demonstration can all be found in the spoiler below:
1P, K, 5P, 236K (Critical Burst), 8K (Launcher), 4P, 4K, 4P,4K,4K. For Bass and Bayman do a 1P, K, 5P, 236K (Critical Burst), 8K (Launcher), 4P, 4K, 4RT ( H+K )

Fight 100 Versus matches.

To unlock this you must play 100 Versus matches under Fight Mode. This can be unlocked naturally while working towards your 300 titles, getting Danger Zone-related achievements, as well as getting Tag-throws or losing poses. This can also be boosted with a 2nd controller. Start up Versus under the following settings:

 • Max Health: Smallest
 • Time Round: 1
 • Solo Round: 1

Then just simply defeat your 2nd controller until this unlocks. If you check the Turbo Boosting methods under DOA5 Is My Life you will also be able to turbo these 100 matches if you want. This will unlock upon playing 100 Versus matches.

http://xb.exophase.com/achievements/8f91960a/s/65614.pngTraining Hard 20:gsicon:

Play Training mode for 1 hour.

To obtain Training Hard you must spend 60 minutes in Training Mode. To train go to Fight > Training > Solo match. This will unlock naturally as you perform the Command Training trials for all characters. If you prefer to boost this, simply leave your game idle while in Training Mode and once an hour passes, exit to the main menu and the achievement will unlock.

Successfully land a Power Blow.

One new gameplay feature in Dead or Alive 5 is the Power Blow or Power Move. By holding the corresponding buttons on the controller, a unique attack can be charged up that will unleash a slow-motion cinematic combo that ends by allowing you to aim where they would like to launch their opponent, including into Danger Zones. In order to do these your health bar must be flashing red after taking 50% damage. Inputs to do Power Blows vary depending on who you are using but you can see how to them in the character select screen. Some of the common inputs for Power Blows are:

You can also use :lbbut: to do Power Blows. Once the Power Blow hits, aim the camera left or right with the :rs: then send your opponent flying into nearby obstacles. You will need to utilize these Power Blows to unlock other achievements pertaining to Danger Zones.

Perform all moves in Command Training.

For this achievement you must clear all 24 character's Command Training. Similar to the Failure Teaches Success achievement, you will also need to do Alpha-152's Command Training in order to unlock this. To get started go to Fight > Training > Solo match from the main menu and then select the fighter you wish to do Command Training with. Select a stage, I find Sweat to be most fitting, and once you are in training press :start:. The option "Begin Command Training" will be available, select it to begin trials. You will receive a title for completing them all with each fighter. Command Training covers the following for each character:

 • Unique Strikes
 • Special Moves
 • Taunts
 • Strikes with Back Facing
 • Down Attacks
 • Holds
 • Throws

Command Training Breakdown

Some characters have more trials than others ranging from only 69 with Mila to nearly 188 trials for Brad Wong. Some of these can be fairly difficult especially the Virtua Fighter Command Training trials, which require strict timing inputs that must come out fast. Some trials will also require the player to have their back facing their opponent. If you ever get stuck on a trial see XXRyuujin's DOA5 Playlist page. Listed below is each character and the number of trials they have in their Command Training:

 • Akira Yuki: 68
 • Alpha-152: 77
 • Ayane: 135
 • Bass Armstrong: 93
 • Bayman: 108
 • Brad Wong: 188
 • Chrisite: 123
 • Eliot: 82
 • Gen Fu: 71
 • Hayate: 90
 • Helena Douglas: 108
 • Hitomi: 109
 • Jann Lee: 97
 • Kasumi: 124
 • Kokoro: 98
 • Lei Fang: 111
 • La Mariposa: 106
 • Mila: 69
 • Pai Chan: 102
 • Rig: 109
 • Ryu Hayabusa: 116
 • Sarah Bryant: 112
 • Tina Armstrong: 110
 • Zack: 137

When doing Command Training trials for a character they must all be done in one sitting. You can't complete half a character's command training, leave and then come back and do the other half as the game will make you start all over. However, if you accidentally quit out of them while in Training, you can still resume them if you choose "Begin Command Training" again. This will unlock upon clearing all 24 character's Command Training.

Unlock All Costumes

Unlocking all 114 costumes in Dead or Alive 5 will be a pretty laborious task as it requires to to play various Fight Modes as well as unlock the 3 Rare Swimsuits. You start out with 2 costumes already unlocked for each character but for the rest you may need to do the following to get them:

Story Mode Costumes

By completing Story Mode you will unlock 2 costumes for Kasumi as well as unlock the Virtua Fighter characters, Akira Yuki and Sarah Bryant. When they are unlocked you will automatically have all of their costumes. Pai Chan however, can only be unlocked upon obtaining 100 titles, she too will have all costumes unlocked already once she's available.

Fight Mode Costumes

Most of your costumes will be unlocked in this Mode. Every time you finish Arcade, Time Attack, or Survival mode on a difficulty you will unlock a costume for that character. Once you complete a mode on a certain difficulty you WILL NOT be able to unlock another costume unless you clear that course on another difficulty. You CANNOT unlock more than one costume by completing the same difficulty more than once. Easiest route to unlock costumes is to clear the modes in the following order:

Arcade
: Rookie, Easy, and Normal

Time Attack
: Rookie, Easy, and Normal

Clear the above fight modes under those difficulties until you have all costumes for that character. Playing under Tag match will speed this up since there are only 5 stages in Tag. The first character you choose for the Tag Team will get the costume unlock upon completing the fight mode. The total number of costumes a character has minus the total number of costumes you've unlocked equals how many times you'll need to play Arcade, Time Attack, or Surival Mode per character. Once you unlock Alpha-152 don't forget to do an Arcade or Time Attack playthrough with her to get her one extra costume.

Rare Swimsuits

Obtaining the last 3 costumes for this achievement will be the most difficult part. You will need to beat Arcade, Time Attack, and Survival mode all Solo on Legend difficulty without using a continue. Once you get to the last opponent it will be up against the girl you'll be unlocking a swimsuit for and she will be wearing it during the match. Defeat her to unlock it. You can use continues for Arcade & Time Attack Legend on the last fight, the suit will still unlock. The Rare Swimsuits cannot be unlocked in Tag-Mode it must be in Solo Mode. You get the following swimsuit costumes for beating each mode on Legend difficulty Solo without continues:

 • Tina Armstrong Swimsuit: Arcade Legend
 • Christie Swimsuit: Time Attack Legend
 • Lisa Swimsuit: Survival Legend

Completing each mode under Legend difficulty shouldn't be too bad for Arcade and Time Attack if you use the Lei Fang Tactic however completing Survivor Mode on Legend will be a different story. BloodBurger has a rare Swimsuit unlock guide that can be found in the spoiler below.
[ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xmDp9_1NxfQ]DOA 5 Rare Swimsuit Unlocking Guide - YouTube[/ame]

Please refer to Survival Master for the best method on clearing Survival Mode. Listed below are the number of costumes for each character excluding DLC costumes:

 • Akira Yuki: 2
 • Alpha-152: 3
 • Ayane: 6
 • Bass Armstrong: 4
 • Bayman: 5
 • Brad Wong: 5
 • Chrisite: 6
 • Eliot: 5
 • Gen Fu: 2
 • Hayate: 4
 • Helena Douglas: 5
 • Hitomi: 6
 • Jann Lee: 5
 • Kasumi: 6
 • Kokoro: 6
 • Lei Fang: 8
 • La Mariposa: 7
 • Mila: 6
 • Pai Chan: 2
 • Rig: 4
 • Ryu Hayabusa: 4
 • Sarah Bryant: 2
 • Tina Armstrong: 7
 • Zack: 4

The Dead or Alive wikia also has costume catalogues for each character from every DOA game. Simply click on theirs and scroll down to keep track of exactly what kind of costume you'll be getting. This will unlock after unlocking all 114 costumes in the game.

Play Tag Battle

This will unlock when you play your first tag battle. Play the match and this will unlock. This can also be unlocked in Story Mode.

Perform 50 kinds of character-specific tag throws.

You must perform 50 different kinds of Tag-team throws by hitting throw(:abut:) when near your opponent. These must be tag-teams that have some sort of relationship with one another. These can easily be done all in two-player Versus or against the A.I with the difficulty set to 1. Select the following teams listed below, start up the match and simply hit :abut: when close to your opponent: Continue to use different teams and throw until this unlocks. Here are the different team combinations:

 • Kasumi - Ayane, Helena, Hayabusa, Zack
 • Brad Wong - Eliot, Kokoro, Zack
 • Mila - Bass, Tina

http://xb.exophase.com/achievements/2bd95985/s/65628.pngDown You Go 10:gsicon:

Successfully attack during a Cliffhanger.

For this achievement you must attack your opponent while they're hanging from a ledge preferably at the Scramble stage. Some stages, such as Scramble, have separate upper and lower levels. You can knock an opponent over the edge, but if your opponent grabs onto the stage at the last second, there will be a playable action sequence between you called a Cliffhanger. If successful with the attack, you will inflict even more damage on your opponent.

You have to knock your opponent into the steel beams twice on the side of the Scramble stage to force them to hang off a ledge, then it's just a matter of attacking with Punch(:ybut:) Kick(:bbut:) or Throw(:abut:) and making sure your opponent doesn't succesfully counter your attack. You'll know you did correctly once the camera angle changes. SirJrGaming has a video demonstration of this being done and it can be found in the spoiler below. Each character in the game can receive 2 Titles for doing a Strike and Throw during these in matches so note this when working towards your 300 titles for Alpha-152.

Note: When boosting these with a 2nd controller, you will need to press an action button on the controller who got knocked into the Danger Zone for them to hang on to the ledge. If you don't then they will simply slip off.

Successfully block an opponent's attack during a Cliffhanger.

This achievement is similar to Down You Go except this time you'll have to defend an opponent's attack while hanging off a ledge by pressing :abut:. Like before, do this on Scramble since it's the best stage for this. It's strongly recommended that you use a second controller to boost it with a human player. Have the controller going for the attack press either Punch(:ybut:) or Kick(:bbut:) while the controller receiving the achievement press Throw(:abut:) to successfully counter. For a video demonstration please click the spoiler below:

http://xb.exophase.com/achievements/2ae00962/s/65630.pngI Read Every Move 20:gsicon:

Win without taking any damage.

You must win a match without receiving any sort of damage. This is known as a "Perfect" in most fighting games. Easiest way to get this is to go into Versus Mode with a 2nd controller, play a quick solo match, and simply defeat the 2nd controller without them hitting you for the achievement. There's a fair chance you can unlock this while working towards other achievements, but this is a simple way to unlock it if you just want to get the achievement out of the way.

http://xb.exophase.com/achievements/300bf1ce/s/65631.pngFailure Teaches Success 20:gsicon:

See all characters' losing poses.

You must lose with all 24 characters in either Versus, Arcade, Time Attack, or Survival Mode. This achievement requires having Alpha-152 unlocked as you will need to view her losing pose as well. Anytime you lose to the A.I in any of the aforementioned modes there will be a losing scene for your character and the option to Fight Again. Once you've seen the losing pose select another character and lose with them. This will go by much faster if you go to Fight > Versus > Fight Settings and set the options like so:

 • COM Level: 8
 • Max Health: Smallest
 • Time Limit: 30
 • Solo Rounds: 1
 • Tag Rounds: 1

Versus Mode is the faster choice for getting all the losing poses especially with the options set like so above. Now just allow the A.I to defeat you then move on to the next character. You may want to keep a checklist for this. There's a possibility you will get some losing poses as you work towards unlocking Alpha-152 so it wouldn't hurt to try and keep track of what losing poses you've seen to save you time in the end when getting then rest of them once Alpha-152 is unlocked.

http://xb.exophase.com/achievements/74fdffb8/s/65632.pngInsomniac 20:gsicon:

Watch all movies in Story mode without skipping any of them.

This is a missable achievement if you're not careful. While playing through Story Mode make sure you don't skip any of the cutscenes. This can only be done by pausing and choosing the option to do so. If at anytime you stop playing before completing the story mode make sure the next time you come back to it you rewatch any cutscenes the game plays. Just avoid pressing pause and going to skip and you will unlock this at the end of the story.

Get all titles and unlock Alpha-152.

The achievement description here is a mis-translation. You don't actually have to obtain all 524 titles in the game but rather, 300 titles which in return unlocks Alpha-152 as a playable character. This means you will have to unlock a fairly large portion of offline and online titles. Like in previous fighting games that have used them, titles are for choosing a series of combinations of phrases that best express your personality. You can check your title progress by pressing :xbut: at the main menu and seeing how many "Titles Obtained" you have. You can also view all titles on their unlock requirements by going to Extras > Mission. Below is a breakdown of how you can go about unlocking some of 300 of the 524 possible titles:

Story Mode Mission Titles

Throughout Story Mode you will be given missions that help you learn the mechanics of DOA5. Completing these missions grant titles and you can view a list of these by going to Extras > Mission in cased you missed any. There are 63 mission titles that can be unlocked. These missions vary from difficulties 1 through 5 and you unlock a title for clearing each one in Story Mode. Be warned, some of these missions are rather tough and require quick inputs, and lightning fast reflexes in order to achieve some. If you happen to miss some during your initial Story Mode play through, go to Extras > Mission to see which ones you need. Afterward, go Story > Display Timeline and skip up to wherever you need to challenge the mission again for the title.

http://s.pro-gmedia.com/videogamer/media/images/xbox360/doa5/screens/doa5_88_605x.jpg

You will also receive a total of 19 titles for clearing the Prologue as well as each character's chapter in Story Mode.

Fight Mode Titles

In Fight Mode, there are 3 different modes you can play which are:

 • Arcade
 • Time-Attack
 • Survival

Upon completing each one under each of the 8 difficulties you will unlock a title. Upon clearing all difficulties for each Fight Mode you will unlock another title. Don't forget that you can play Arcade and Time-Attack under Tag match and those difficulties yield their own titles as well. Survival Mode can NOT be played in Tag which means you can grab up to 45 titles from clearing all of these courses in Fight Mode.

Costume Titles

Every character(except Alpha-152) has a title connected to them for unlocking all of their respective costumes. These can be done by clearing Arcade, Time-Attack, or Survival under each difficulty. Since you will need to do this for the Fighting In Style achievement it should make this an easy 23 titles to obtain to say the least.

Versus Mode Titles

These titles will require a 2nd controller to boost with. All 23 characters have four easy titles connected to them for doing specific things in battle. These titles are:

 • Land a Power Blow with _____!
 • Land a Power Blow with _____ during Critical Burst!
 • Land a Strike with _____ during a Cliffhanger!
 • Land a Throw with _____ during a Cliffhanger!

These titles are best to be boosted at the Scramble stage as it has a Danger Zone nearby. If you need help performing some of these titles please see THIS thread as well as the achievement solution for Power Blows. You can get 92 titles from doing these with all 23 characters in the game. You may be able to earn even more titles if you haven't used certain characters in a match yet as well.

Online Titles & Misc.

If you're quickly approaching 300 titles but still need a few more you can easily acquire some extra ones by boosting 10 wins to a friend in Online Matches with each character. All 23 characters have a title for winning 10 matches online with them. These can be done while working towards your 50 fight requests or even your 1000 matches played. Also there are various other in-game titles that can be obtained if you go to page 19/35 under the Extras > Mission menu. Titles for doing such things as Crouch guarding 100 strikes, Holding 100 strikes, or Doing 100 standing throws. These can be boosted with 2 controllers in Versus or online with a friend as well.

Upon obtaining 300 titles you will unlock this achievement along with Alpha-152, the final boss from the previous DOA game. She will be selectable between Akira and Sarah.

http://xb.exophase.com/achievements/b8a2bd8f/s/65611.pngThe Curtain Rises 10:gsicon:

Clear the Prologue in Story mode.

Story related and should not be missed.

After completing the first chapter of the story mode you'll get this achievement. The final fight for the first chapter is Rig vs Bass. After completing this fight, the achievement will unlock after the following story-scenes.

There is no difficulty setting for Story Mode and the fights get progressively more difficult as you get deeper into the story. A note on the Bonus Missions, you are not obligated to complete any of them, however, you may want to take your time to clear them since they award titles which you will need in order to unlock Alpha-152.

http://xb.exophase.com/achievements/ba7d208a/s/65612.pngNinja Battle 20:gsicon:

Clear "Kasumi: Part 2" in Story mode.

Story related and should not be missed.

This will unlock upon clearing Chapter 16 as Kasumi in Story Mode. After the Showdown against Alpha-152 with Kasumi, this will unlock after the story cut-scenes that follow.

http://xb.exophase.com/achievements/5cae2cfb/s/65613.png... And Then THIS Happened 30:gsicon:

Clear all chapters in Story mode.

Story related and should not be missed.

This will unlock once you clear all 20 Chapters in the Dead or Alive 5 Story Mode. The final fights leading up to the end of Chapter 20 involve Kasumi, Ayane, Hayate, and Ry Hayabusa going up against Alpha-152 and clones. Once you have cleared all of these fights this will unlock after the final story cut-scene.

Great Guide as always man :-) I got a full 100 success vid of the lisa tactic if you like ?

Also I changed the combo up a little which I found easier to pull off.

1P, K, 5P, 236K (Critical Burst), 8K (Launcher), 4P, 4K, 4P,4K,4K .Against Bass and Bayman I would do a 1P, K, 5P, 236K (Critical Burst), 8K (Launcher), 4P, 4K, 4RT ( H+K )

So glad survival is finally done now :-)

Well done Felizp, I was waiting for a regular to write a guide. Seems like you're stuck on survival? I haven't read through the whole thing since survival is where my gripe is, but I think you meant held* instead of help*. You'll probably read over it in due time.

Fixed the typo, let me know if you see any more.

Yeah Survival is fairly easy in this game with the Lisa method, it's pure gold. It's all really a test of mental fortitude. Keeping your rhythm through all 100 opponents, now do it 3 more times. ;)

I will add your alternate Lisa combo to the solution and if you want to bring your video over go ahead and link me and I will add that as well and put you under my "Credits & Acknowledgments" post. Thanks RA1NKING.

Thanks man. I appreciate that. Video is busy uploading to youtube now. Also just one thing , with the lisa tactic. When it comes to fighting Akira , the best method is your normal up (8 ) and throw. You will see in the video exactly what I mean once its uploaded.

 • 2 weeks later...
Its a long story, if you want to know, ask him yourselves on XBL. You'll be quite surprised.

I think it would be best if you post it here yourself, im sure the guy dosen't want to answer the same stuff 10 time on live, especially with limited message possibilities.

I got to say its always scary to see a contributing member being banned. I mean, this website is probably banning a few trolls everyday, but when you see somebody that make guides, had like 700 post, been here for a while etc get a ban... you tell yourself "holy shit... so anybody can be banned no matter what" and when you don't know the story its even more scary.

Mods won't tell you why another member was banned, or at least they aren't supposed to, so unless a mod has confirmed it then you should take what he told you with a grain of salt.

I'm not speaking for the site here, only myself, but I wouldn't remove any guides of his unless I knew they were plagiarised. But I wouldn't search for the source he may have stolen from either, meaning that the only way I'd take them down is if I was contacted by an original author requesting it be taken down.

Number 2...

I said it many times, many many times, but im VERY disapointed as they linked all of those achievements together... i would have love if they would had put something like " beat at least 50 guys in survival on any difficulty" so normal human being could do it. They could still give a title to the ones beating it on the ultra hard to show off online.
