GrislyGrizzly
I don't mean for this topic to be misconstrued since we're coming off an E3 where Ubisoft faced relentless anger for not including women in their new games, but this scenario is completely different. Why is there a female ward when there isn't a single female lunatic at Murkoff? The context is entirely there to support them, but their ward is populated strictly by male patients. I didn't really think about it at first because my brain started to understand Murkoff was likely a men's hospital. Then I saved my progress in the "Female Ward" and immediately thought it was strange that I hadn't been chased down by crazy ladies or read about them in the documents. Is there an answer to this anywhere on the Internets? It's bugging me now haha
merzitar
It is mentioned in a document (I think it's in the Whistleblower DLC) that there used to be female patients, but eventually they were moved off the Mount Massive site.

GrislyGrizzly
Oh well that would explain a lot haha. I just beat Outlast a few minutes ago - debating buying Whistleblower too.

Oh well that would explain a lot haha. I just beat Outlast a few minutes ago - debating buying Whistleblower too. I would recommend it! While it's a prequel, it's also every important for the main story. I enjoy both equally - they're both different. The DLC is about half the length of the main game, and speedrunning took me about 50 minutes.
Lord Vlad 666
I think the 1 female in whistleblower was just the lunatic in the attic part who has multiple personalities. When I heard the voice I was also looking for a woman until I heard the him using the other voices

merzitar
Ah, I thought you might have been thinking of the multiple personality guy. I really would recommend the DLC though. I wanted to play it since it was released on PC, but I'm glad I waited, as I only had to buy it the once on Xbox One. Insane mode was fun (by which I mean frustrating lol) too. If I mess up there on Insane, I won't be too pleased. I'll try not to rush where I don't need to ^_^

I had just a quick go earlier, and I don't think not using the camera is going to be much of a problem for ENERGIZER. It's just completing it on Insane is the hardest part of it. I think I will do it eventually... I WILL!! ^_^

It's a nice challenge. I would cry if I got near the end of the main game and caught Y, I really would! lol. I'm trying to do the main game on Insane, but haven't had much luck really. The furthest I have got so far is that big dark room in the sewers, where Chris Walker is lurking and you need to climb up the ladder.

GrislyGrizzly
I haven't attempted Insane yet, but the Trager part was a huge show of improvement for me between playthroughs. On my first playthrough I was cowering under beds and dying constantly. The second time, I booked it and Trager only spotted me as I climbed into the second vent. Hopefully I can be so fortunate on Insane.
ii SlayerX
There actually is one female in Whistleblower... well a large portion of a female anyways. You need to record it for the 12th note.
GrislyGrizzly
I'm playing through Whistleblower now. Is there a sub-forum for it here yet? I know sometimes DLC gets its own boards. Otherwise it's not a problem - I'll just keep talking about it on this board. There actually is one female in Whistleblower... well a large portion of a female anyways. You need to record it for the 12th note. I don't want to spoil anything for first-timers, but that particular body belonged to a man. The note explains what's going on there. I don't want to give too much away so pardon the vagueness. Edited July 3, 2014 by GrislyGrizzly

I must have not read the note at the time I stumbled on the body so its definitely easily assumed its female. Man, this DLC was more messed up than the main game. Yeah, honestly how this game launched no problem while the tame-in-comparison Manhunt 2 had to be recut/censored/you name it, just to finally be certified something other than Adults Only is unfathomable. Outlast is a fantastic horror universe, but the content is beyond fucked and I can't believe it didn't have a harder time launching.
PMillz
I think it could be because its download only should imagine they don't have the same rules etc could be wrong though
merzitar
Regarding Manhunt 2 - I think games have come along way since then, in terms of what people deem acceptable. Whistleblower was somewhat disturbing, but I've seen worse.

Whistleblower was somewhat disturbing, but I've seen worse. Worse rated by certification boards or worse and unrated? Maybe there're more disturbed games rated by ESRB/PEGI etc out there, but Whistleblower was the most extreme I ever personally encountered. Good game, just unsettling as hell.
