Introduction:

Welcome to Marvel Super Hero Squad: Comic Combat. This is a fun game based off of the Marvel Super Hero Squad cartoon on The Hub network. You play as 10 different “squaddies” to defeat enemies such as M.O.D.O.K., Red Skull and Doctor Doom. Squaddies include Iron Man, Captain America, Wolverine, Thor and Scarlet Witch. Each hero has special abilities needed for defeating your enemies. You will battle enemies through six different “issues”, and each issue has a number of “panels” to play through, usually ending in a boss battle.

This game requires that you own the uDraw Game Tablet (which comes bundled with uDraw Instant Artist). With it, you use commands and touch screen functions to move your heroes around, fight enemies and use special attacks, like the Ink Attack and the Glyph Bombs. It might take a little bit to get used to, but after a little while, it becomes natural.

Step 1:

You will unlock most of the achievement in your initial story playthrough. Just play through every issue and panel and not worry about unlocking the random achievements. You can try to unlock the in-level achievements during your story run to minimize additional panel playthroughs, but if you miss any, they really don’t take that much time at all, so you can just mop them up in the next step. I’ve detailed what issue and panel most of those achievements can be unlocked in.

I would try to collect as many comic stacks as possible in this playthrough also, again, to minimize additional panel playthroughs. Follow amplifiedAnts guide from PS3Trophies.org to make this much easier. (link)

Step 2: Mop Up

By now you’ve probably just about unlocked every achievement. You may have some random ones, like the costume ones or replaying panels as certain characters. For these achievements, if you have to play through a panel to unlock them, the quickest panel is Issue 2, Panel 1. You can also use this panel (or the boss level in Issue 1) if you have some random “defeat x enemies with x” achievements leftover.

You will need to replay the Doctor Doom boss fight in Issue 6 with Squirrel Girl to unlock “Old Rivalries Revived”. Basically just start the panel, wait for the achievement to unlock then exit.

If you didn’t unlock some of the more frustrating achievements (like “A Stranger to Laser Danger”), now is the time to try again. Watch the video in the solution. “Heroic Aerobics” is another one you might not have unlocked in your initial playthrough. Try it again using Wolverine, Iron Man and Thor.

You will also have to go back to certain panels and replay them to collect all of the comic stacks (as some areas are not accessible in Story Mode). For “Summer Reading”, there is a potential glitch with one stack that is located in Issue 2, but can easily be avoided. It has to do with the game registering that you’ve collected a comic stack in one panel when you really haven’t and not registering that you’ve collected one in another panel when you have.

To avoid this glitch, just follow amplifiedAnts guide on PS3Trophies.org and you should have no problems unlocking this achievement. He also highlights which panels you have to replay with certain characters to obtain those stacks. (link)

Conclusion:

Congratulations on another relatively easy 1000:gsicon:!

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/achievements/2048/UPjIfME=.jpgFive For the Price of One (10 points)

Defeat 5 enemies simultaneously

The boss battle at the end of Issue 1 is probably the easiest place to unlock this.

Destroy one or two electrical tesla coils in the room (by using the Glyph Bombs) so your heroes can move around without being electrocuted (don’t destroy them all, though). Enemies in groups of three will start to come out. Wait until there are two groups together (or near each other) and use Scarlet Witch’s Ink Attack (which is done by pressing the Stylus down onto your hero and drawing a line through the enemies) to defeat all six enemies. If you get all six, the achievement will unlock. It might take a couple of tries, but as long as you don’t destroy the rest of the tesla coils, they will keep coming out.

The reason for using Scarlet Witch here is so you can unlock “Six Hexxed” at the same time.

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/achievements/2048/UPujTTQ=.jpgHold It (10 points)

Defeat an enemy using only Hold abilities

This achievement is basically unmissable as it is part of a tutorial early on in the first level.

Wolverine will instruct you on how to do a Hold Attack (which is done by pressing the Stylus down onto your hero). Move towards the two enemies when he tells you to (but do not attack them), and then activate the Hold Attack to defeat the enemies.

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/achievements/2048/UPpDtac=.jpgBig Spender (10 points)

Drain two full bars of ink in a single attack

You can unlock this near the beginning of Issue 1. There is a point in this issue where three enemy robots appear and are standing in a straight line. Wolverine will instruct you on how to do an Ink Attack (which is done by pressing the Stylus down onto your hero and drawing a line through the enemies). Once you injure all three enemies, the achievement will unlock.

Quickly do the Ink Attack a second time to defeat all three robots (since they were weakened by your first attack). If it’s done correctly, you will also unlock “Two Birds with One Pen”.

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/achievements/2048/UPhivBI=.jpgTwo Birds with One Pen (10 points)

Use a single ink attack to defeat 2 or more enemies

In the same area where you unlocked “Big Spender” in Issue 1, do a second Ink Attack on the same robots to defeat them. If you destroy at least two, this achievement will unlock.

Note: If you don’t unlock “Big Spender” and “Two Birds with One Pen” in Issue 1, you will have plenty of opportunities to do so later on in the game.

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/achievements/2048/UPmCRIE=.jpgDrawn to Distraction (15 points)

Use a decoy to distract 3 or more enemies at the same time

This can be unlocked at the start of Issue 2, Panel 1. When this issue starts, you will be shown a tutorial on how to make decoys (by drawing a triangle with your Stylus).

When you gain control of your heroes, move them to the bottom right of the area and draw two triangles at the top left area of the area (where the enemies spawn, diagonally opposite from where you are). This will unlock “Double Vision”. The enemies will be focusing on the decoys and not your heroes. When the first one is destroyed, they will focus on the second one. This will unlock the achievement.

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/achievements/2048/UPwgr3g=.jpgDouble Vision (15 points)

Use two decoys simultaneously

See “Drawn to Distraction” for more information.

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/achievements/2048/UP3AV+s=.jpgAll right squaddies... (15 points)

Use Hero Up!

The Hero Up! powerup fills as you defeat enemies and/or break boxes. It gives them extra super powers for a short time. It is located in the center of your three heroes on the Character Bar. When it is completely full (the gold circle is full and begins to glow), press your Stylus on it to activate it. This will unlock the achievement.

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/achievements/2048/UP-hXl4=.jpg1,000 Issues Sold (15 points)

Sell 1,000 issues

This will likely be the first achievement you unlock. See “One Million Sales!” for more information.

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/achievements/2048/UP4Bps0=.jpgThat's a Lot of Points (15 points)

Pick up 1,000 Hero Points

Make sure you destroy everything you come across in the issues and pick up the gold orbs that are leftover. If you do, this achievement will likely unlock somewhere in Issue 4.

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/achievements/2048/UP0mssM=.jpgHi, there! I'm Squirrel Girl. (15 points)

Play as Squirrel Girl in a back Issue

You must first have had to complete an issue with Squirrel Girl to unlock this (which is Issue 3). When you’ve completed that issue, go to the Artist’s Table and select a back issue. Choose Squirrel Girl, Invisible Woman and Scarlet Witch (you must use their default costumes, not their alternates) and complete one panel. This will unlock both this achievement and “Femme Fight All”.

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/achievements/2048/UPzGSlA=.jpgEraser Dusted (15 points)

Use a glyph bomb to defeat 5 or more enemies at the same time

To make a Glyph Bomb, simply draw an X somewhere on the screen. This will create the bomb. It will either detonate on its own after a few seconds or you can tap it with the Stylus to detonate it immediately.

One panel to get this achievement on is Issue 2, Panel 1. At the beginning, when the enemies spawn at the top left of the area, immediately draw an X near them and then tap the Stylus on it to destroy the bomb. You may have to wait a few seconds so the enemies can group together as they close in on you. Make sure your other heroes don’t attack them.

Another panel you can get this on is Issue 2, Panel 4. When you enter this panel, above you there will be two groups of enemies, three in each group. Again, make sure your other heroes don’t attack them. Try and get these two groups together, and when you attract them together, draw an X on them and immediately tap the Stylus on the screen, exploding the bomb.

It is possible to unlock this elsewhere, but these two areas are the simplest to unlock this achievement.

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/achievements/2048/UP94p5E=.jpgRock and Roll (15 points)

Defeat 3 or more enemies with one glyph ball roll

Glyph Balls are first brought into the game in Issue 2, Panel 2. To create a Glyph Ball, simply draw a circle with your Stylus. To move it, draw the circle and then draw a line (without taking the Stylus off the pad) in the direction you want it to go.

For this achievement, you need to defeat three enemies with one roll. A good spot to get this in is in Issue 2, Panel 4. You can try to unlock this by defeating the enemies that spawn at the beginning of the panel (there should be two groups of three enemies) or wait until after you’ve defeated the big robot that appears. If going for the latter, after defeating the robot, you have to defend yourselves before advancing. Groups of three enemies will spawn and close in on you. Make sure your other heroes don’t attack them. It would be best to move them to one side so you have a clear line of vision of the enemies. Now draw a circle with your Stylus and direct it at the enemies. If you defeat three, the achievement will unlock. If not, just restart the panel and it will restart you after you’ve defeated the big robot. Keep trying until the achievement unlocks.

Hit six targets with one hex using Scarlet Witch

See “Five For the Price of One” for more information.

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/achievements/2048/UPy5Vrc=.jpgMedicine is the Best Medicine (15 points)

Pick up a health pack when a hero is about to be defeated

Basically your hero has to have absolutely no health left but not have died yet. This can be a tricky achievement.

The best way to get your health down and not worry about enemies defeating you is to get electrocuted. You can find these “coils” in Issue 2, Panel 1 and Issue 2, Panel 4. Defeat all the enemies first before trying this. Pick a hero who has the most health and move them towards the coil so they are electrocuted. Keep repeating that until they have absolutely no health. Then, try to find a health pack by destroying the breakables nearby. When you do find one, pick it up to restore your health and the achievement will unlock.

Note: This might take a couple of tries since the coils do not give out the same damage each time you touch it.

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/achievements/2048/UPkbvU4=.jpgA Clean Getaway (20 points)

Exit a panel with a full ink meter and all heroes at full health

This can be unlocked as early as when Iron Man enters the game. When he appears, there will be some enemies you need to defeat. After doing that, destroy all the breakables in the area and pick up all the health packs and ink to restore them. If they are both full, when you exit the panel the achievement will unlock.

Note: Using the Hero Up! powerup restores every heroes’ health to full, so if that meter is full before exiting the panel, activate it to restore your health.

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/achievements/2048/UPj7Rd0=.jpgLight Reading (20 points)

Find 5 Comic Stacks

See “Summer Reading” for more information. If you have been finding all of these since the beginning of the game, you will unlock this in Issue 2, Panel 5.

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/achievements/2048/UPraTGg=.jpgShake, Rattle, and Destroy (20 points)

Use an Earthquake to defeat 5 or more enemies

To use the Earthquake powerup, all you need to do is shake your uDraw pad. You first unlock this powerup in Issue 2, Panel 2. From where you enter the panel, move up and on the right hand side of the screen.

A good place to unlock this is in Issue 2, Panel 4, so save the powerup until then. After defeating the big robot, you have to defend yourselves before advancing. Two groups of three enemies will spawn on the screen. When all six are on the screen together (make sure your other heroes do not attack any of them), shake your uDraw pad to activate the powerup. This should defeat all six enemies. If it does, the achievement will unlock. If not, restart the panel and you will restart after you’ve defeated the big robot. Repeat until it unlocks.

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/achievements/2048/UP0stHY=.jpgHulk Can't Count That High! (20 points)

Sell 10,000 issues

See “One Million Sales!” for more information. This will likely unlock somewhere during Issue 2.

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/achievements/2048/UPzMTOU=.jpgPoint Taken (20 points)

Pick up 75 Hero Points in a single panel

Breaking up objects and defeating enemies are two ways to get Hero Points. Also, activating the Hero Factors with certain heroes is another way to get them. They appear as gold orbs with “H” on them (for “Hero”). Simply pick up 75 points in a single panel.

Note: If you complete a panel and then restart the same panel again, your counter does not reset, meaning, if you picked up 25 points your first run through, you can restart the panel and whatever you collect will add to that 25 points. You can keep repeating this to unlock this achievement if you find that other ways don’t work. Issue 2, Panel 1 is a very short panel so you can easily get it here by restarting it two or three times.

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/achievements/2048/UP7tRVA=.jpgUpsadaisy (20 points)

Revive a hero to full health

A good panel to get this on is Issue 2, Panel 1. After defeating all the enemies, have the hero with the least amount of health walk up to and touch one of the electric coils. Keep touching it until the hero dies and a bandage appears over them. All you need to do is hold the Stylus over them until they stand up. If you have enough ink to restore their health to full, the achievement will unlock. If you don’t unlock it here, there will be many more opportunities.

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/achievements/2048/UP8NvcM=.jpgCostume Change (20 points)

Start a panel with a hero wearing an alternate costume

When you’ve completed Issue 2, you can go back and choose heroes and replay issues you’ve already finished. On the Artist’s Desk, choose ‘Issues’ and select an issue (one that you have completed is easier). When selecting your hero, there is a “Shirt” icon that you can press to outfit them in an alternate costume (if you’ve unlocked it). Just select a hero, choose the alternate costume, start a panel, and the achievement will unlock.

If you have three heroes that have unlocked alternate costumes, select all three, choose alternate costumes for each and start and complete one panel. This will unlock “Loose Canon”. Issue 2, Panel 1 is probably the shortest panel, so choose to play that one.

Defeat Doctor Doom in the end boss battle

This is story related; cannot be missed. It takes place at the beginning of Issue 6. Doctor Doom is very simple to defeat. There are two phases of attacks before you can finally defeat him.

For his first set of attacks, he will conjure up bolts of lightning. Sparks will appear on the ground where the lightning will strike. Avoid the bolts as best you can. Next he will unload a series of spikes into the ground that generate an electrical current. This is when he falls to ground level so you can damage him. Easiest way is to use the Glyph Bombs on him so his health goes down quick.

He will then go offscreen for a moment and come back holding a giant pen. In between defeating the enemies that spawn, keep tapping your Stylus on him and he will eventually drop the pen. Keep using Glyph Bombs to finish him off.

This will unlock both this achievement and “A Jarring Defeat”.

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/achievements/2048/UPtPrqk=.jpgHulk…SMASH! (30 points)

Use Hulk to destroy 25 breakables

Upon completing Issue 2, The Hulk will be a selectable hero for back issues. The easiest way to unlock this achievement is to replay Issue 2, Panel 7 (the M.O.D.O.K. boss battle). Play only as the Hulk and just go around smashing every breakable object in the panel. If the achievement doesn’t unlock at first, just restart the panel and do it again. Repeat until the achievement unlocks.

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/achievements/2048/UPlupxw=.jpg Lock Unblocker (30 points)

Open a Factor Lock for each factor

Hero Factors can only be accessed by a specific hero:

  • Brownish Grey Boxes - Wolverine, Reptil, Squirrel Girl
    • Issue 1, Panel 2: on the left hand side of the screen just after the first three bots [where you first use your Ink Attack] and when the next three bots appear

[*] Black Boxes on Round Pedestals - Hulk

    • Issue 1, Panel 3: before disabling any lightning rods, on the right side of the screen where you spawn

[*] Red Computer Terminals - Iron Man

    • Issue 1, Panel 4: immediately after Iron Man is introduced, move up and you’ll see it

[*] Golden Boxes w/Poles or Golden Archways w/Electricity - Thor

    • Issue 1, Panel 5: right when you start the panel

[*] Orange & Red Barrels - Scarlet Witch, Invisible Woman

    • Issue 1, Panel 5: right when you start the panel

[*] Purple Fan Boxes - Falcon

    • Issue 2, Panel 2: after the room with the Golden Archway, go through the door on the left and it is in that room

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/achievements/2048/UPiOX48=.jpgOld Rivalries Revived (30 points)

Bring Squirrel Girl into the final fight against Doom

The final fight with Doom is Issue 6. All you need to do is replay this issue and choose Squirrel Girl as one of your heroes. You don’t even need to fight; just start the panel, wait for the achievement to unlock, then exit.

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/achievements/2048/UPupS4E=.jpgHero Up! (30 points)

Use Hero Up! five times in one issue

The easiest place to get this the boss battle in Issue 1. Just destroy one tesla coil and the enemies will keep respawning. Keep picking up the gold orbs that they drop after you defeat them. When your Hero Up! meter is full, activate it. Keep refilling and activating it, and upon activating it a fifth time, the achievement will unlock.

You could also get “Five For the Price of One”, “Six Hexxed” and “Point Taken” at the same time.

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/achievements/2048/UPpJsxI=.jpgHeroic Aerobics (30 points)

Use Hero Up! to defeat 6 or more enemies

The Hero Up! powerup fills as you defeat enemies and/or break boxes. It gives them extra super powers for a short time. It is located in the center of your three heroes on the Character Bar. When it is completely full (the gold circle is full and begins to glow), press your Stylus on it to activate it. Simply defeat six enemies before your powerup runs out for this achievement. It would probably be best to wait until you’ve finished your story playthough to try and unlock this.

It has been reported that using Thor, Iron Man and Wolverine will give you the best results for this achievement. It is not known if this has to be done by one hero or a combination of all three. Just make sure that your other heroes don’t attack.

If you have a full Hero Up! meter in Issue 2, Panel 4, you can try to unlock it here (replay the previous panel as well to build up your Hero Up! meter). Activate the Hero Up! either during the first groups of enemies or on the second after you defeat the big robot.

You can also unlock this in Issue 4 (which is where I unlocked it). Play through panels 1 and 2 to boost your Hero Up! meter. Do not use your Hero Up! until you’ve reached Panel 3. When you start Panel 3, wait a moment for enemies to spawn then start running around the circular room. The enemies will follow you and more enemies will spawn. When you reach the end, turn around and activate your Hero Up! There should now be a lot of enemies that have followed you (there should be 10 or more). Try to defeat at least six with one hero to unlock this achievement. If it doesn’t, collect more Hero Up! points then restart the panel.

Note: If you restart a panel, your Hero Up! meter remains where it was just before you restarted that panel. So if you have half a meter, you will restart with that half. If you collect Hero Up! and then restart the panel, you have that much more to start with.

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/achievements/2048/UPn3XtM=.jpgOne Million Sales! (30 points)

Sell 1,000,000 issues

This is basically unmissable. As long as you break every object and pick up any Hero Up! orbs you see, this should unlock somewhere in Issue 5.

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/achievements/2048/UPvWV2Y=.jpgFlying off the shelves! (30 points)

Sell 7,000 issues in a single panel

This achievement can be unlocked in any panel. Basically just defeat all the enemies and break everything you come across and pick up what was hidden in the objects (health, ink, Hero Up! points).

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/achievements/2048/UPo2r-U=.jpgSummer Reading (100 points)

Find all the Comic Stacks

Comic stacks are the collectibles in this game. They are only in Issues 2 through 5 (not in Issue 1 or 6) and most are not very hidden. There’s one stack per panel and all but four of them can be picked up in your story playthrough (there’s 27 total). Those other four require a certain character to gain access to a location, so you will have to replay those panels to get them.

To check which panels you’ve gotten a comic stack on, go to the Artist’s Desk and choose ‘Issues’. Now, select an issue and then select a panel. There is a section called “Heroic Feats”, which is above the hero select, for every panel in the game. There are three images; something that looks like you can swap characters, a comic stack and bandages. Select one of the panels. If the comic stack is colored in, then you’ve collected the stack for that panel. If it remains black, then you need to collect it. Replay that panel to collect the comic stack.

Some comic stacks are out in plain sight, while others are hidden behind an object or a door. There is a guide on PS3Trophies.org detailing the locations of all the comic stacks. Credit goes to amplifiedAnt for writing it. (link)

Note: This achievement is potentially glitched. Read the roadmap for more information.

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/achievements/2048/UP+URAw=.jpgA Stranger to Laser Danger (50 points)

Survive the laser hallway without getting hit by laser

The laser hallway is in Issue 2, Panel 6.

It might be best to wait until after you finish the story to try to unlock this one as the hero selection in story is not ideal. Using three melee heroes (Wolverine, Hulk and Thor) might be easier than using ranged heroes. Also, you might have to replay this panel a couple of times to get the timing of the laser down. Be patient.

When this panel starts, just defeat the nearby enemies, all the while making sure that all of your heroes stay to the far right against the wall (away from the laser). After all the enemies are defeated, wait until the laser fires. When it disappears, run very quickly to the next alcove on the left. There will be enemies here too. Again, defeat them and use your Stylus to keep your heroes against the wall.

When it is safe again, move out and immediately go into the alcove on the right (it’s not far). There are no enemies here, so you just have to wait out the laser. The next stretch is a long one, but there’s enough time if you’re quick. You’re going to run to the final area which is on the right. When the laser disappears, step out run as fast as possible up the hallway and into the area on the right. There will be a lot of flying robots and a Doombot here. Remember to stay against the wall while fighting these enemies and you should have no problem. Defeat these enemies and move towards the door to trigger it to open.

Note: Alternately, if you use Invisible Woman and use her bubble shield around all your heroes, you will not get hit by the laser. Just activate her Hold Ability and run straight up through the laser to the end of the hallway.

Complete a panel using Wolverine, Reptil, and Hulk

This can first be done after completing Issue 3. When you’ve completed that issue, go to the Artist’s Table and select a back issue. Choose Wolverine, Reptil and Hulk (using their default costumes, not their alternates) and complete one panel. This will unlock the achievement. Issue 2, Panel 1 is probably the shortest panel, so select that one.

This can first be done after completing Issue 3. When you’ve completed that issue, go to the Artist’s Table and select a back issue. Choose Squirrel Girl, Invisible Woman and Scarlet Witch (using their default costumes, not their alternates) and complete one panel. This will unlock both this achievement and “Hi, there! I’m Squirrel Girl”. Issue 2, Panel 1 is probably the shortest panel, so select that one.
