lid
I didn't know where else to turn for my problem so I am wondering if anyone could help. I am not allowed to download anything off xbox live since the console update. Every time I click on something I want to buy or download for free the damn thing says that my profile is not permitted to download content with this rating. I have a "parents" email associated with my account because I am under 18 but now it won't let me do a single thing. I have tried everything but nothing seems to work at all. I changed my family settings and console settings so everything is allowed and I'm allowed to download anything and look at everything but that didn't seem to work. I started a new xbox live profile with a seperate email address but that didn't work either. I switched my original email address to one that's over 18 but this goddam parents account is still stuck with me like a parasite and wont let me do shit. I'm begging anybody who knows how to fix this to please let me know how to download stuff again without an annoying box coming from the side of the screen telling me I can't download anything. thanks in advance. Sanction
You could always ask your parents to change it, right?
JesusBread
There's no way, even if you did know your parents email. I've tried messing around with both of them and I have gotten nowhere. HELL, on my account, I turned 18 on Feb 27. Guess what? I still can't download anything M-rated...
lid
I was in a hurry to get xbox live cuz I was so eager to play and I ended up using my old email address where I was 16 years old on it and I had to create a parents email. So I just made one up that was about 40 years old and now it is downright stuck with me. I can't get rid of it, I know I should've just associated my account with one that was over 18 but I wasn't thinkng and now I am in a jam.
JesusBread
The only way around this is creating another profile. You get 1 month of xbox live free right off the bat. Then you can use the silver account to download stuff. Anything you download on the other profile, you can use on your main profile.

Tyrannical Duck
Call 18004MYXBOX. A buddy of mine called them because his email address was an oldass AOL email that he didn't even have access to anymore. They were actually really polite with him and helped him change everything. Gun-Nut
I'm sure since the last dashboard update that once your 18 its possible to remove the parental email, not sure how though.

You will have to goto account settings and make sure you change it cause xbox live gives you the option to make it from a child account to an adult account which it should give you the option and if you dont see it then call xbox live or goto the ambassabank on the computer and that will assist you cause there is always someone on there
Delta3519
Well I hope so I'll try again. Go to settings and change your account from child to adult. As far as I know, email age has no bearing on it.

This is one of the oldest topics I've ever seen revived It's always good to make your account adult. Unless your a parent who is concerned about what your kid is doing. killer297
See when I turned 18 my account just changed almost automatically into an adult account and I didn't really have any problem I just don't see why xbox would make things like that more complicated, but there must be a good enough reason I suppose.
