Introduction:

The first Zone of the Enders belongs to the early area of PlayStation 2 games and therfore has a few problems that are easily outweight by the great atmosphere, design and overall gameplay. If you've played the game before, you can dive right into hard mode and grab every achievement in one go. New players can do this too, though I advise to do a quick playthrough on Normal or Easy to learn the combat and game progression.

Step 1 (Normal or Hard playthrough):

Before you start the game decide if want to play it once on hard or twice and start on Normal (or Easy) first to get a feel for the game and so you know the path of progression. This will make the second one easier. Since the game isn't very long an extra playthrough won't take up much time. For new players I suggest a Normal playthrough first.

Look in the guide to find a list of all sub-weapons. You will also get the passcodes with them. Look out for the miscellaneous achievements. I wrote them down in the order you'll unlock them. Keep in mind that you only can die up to four times, if you want the A-Rank on this playthrough. You also need all the A-Ranks on every of the five rescue missions.

Step 2 (Hard Playthrough if you picked Normal first):

If your first playthrough was not on hard, you should start a second one on this difficulty now. It is the lowest barrier for the overall A-Rank. If you've missed any achievement on the first playthrough, you can do it now. Focus on getting all five A-Ranks and don't die more than four times. This will net you the A-Rank on the overall evaluation.

Step 3 (Mop-Up):

After you've gotten your A-Rank, reload the last save, die five times and beat the game again. This will unlock the B-Rank and also Zombie Neith, if this was your only playthrough.

Conclusion:

You should now have 500:gsicon: in Zone of the Enders HD and every achievement in the first Zone of the Enders. Now it's time for The 2nd Runner.

Miscellaneous Achievements

Completed all of the in-game tutorials.

After the fight with your first enemy in the game Ada will give you a few instructions. You will seen fight a few other robots outside the hanger and Neith will appear for the first time. Slash away and after the fight gather the intel in front of you. Ada will then give you two more tutorials.

You just have to watch the videos and not really do anything. After you've started the last tutorial video, the achievement should pop.

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/forum/../images/achievements/1972/5-i-I4s=.jpgSilent Assassin - 20 http://www.xbox360achievements.org/forum/../images/site/gp-g.png

Took out the EPS relay block before eliminating any enemies

This is in City 1 shortly after the second rescue mission. You will enter the area and a huge shield will block you from proceeding. Leave the area and go to Town 2. Destroy the enemies and purple Porters. After that you can pick up the Sniper Rifle.

Now go back to City 1 and make sure to shot the white dots in the middle of the tower before killing any other enemy. If some of them detect you, stay cool. Just press :lbbut: and dash to safety. After the escape timer reaches zero wait and go back to the tower. When you hit the last dot the shield will go down and the achievement is yours.

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/forum/../images/achievements/1972/5-t+0q0=.jpgBenedict Arnold - 20 http://www.xbox360achievements.org/forum/../images/site/gp-g.png

Defeated 10 enemies while controlling the Raptor.

When you control the Raptor in EPS 2 as part of the story you have to kill 10 enemies. Since the Raptor is much weaker this gets a little bit harder than usual but still not challenging. Just focus on weak groups. Remember that you also have to fight three or four enemies once you're inside the underground portion of the area.

If you die and continue, the previously killed enemies still count towards your achievement. Though I don't know if this stacks throughout multiple playthroughs. Just make sure to get it in one go.

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/forum/../images/achievements/1972/5-lf2xg=.jpgUnhealthy Behaviour - 20 http://www.xbox360achievements.org/forum/../images/site/gp-g.png

Defeated 10 enemies when under the influence of the Virus.

After you encounter Tyrant and flee, you will soon see that Ada got infected with a virus. You will now die in one hit. Make a save and do the rescue mission. The enemies are all level one, which makes this much easier. You also should get an A-Rank for the Good Samaritan achievement.

Now enter Factory 1 or any other area. Factory 1 just has the benefit of low level enemies. Kill three squads and you should now have killed 10 enemies.

If you die and continue, the previously killed enemies still count towards your achievement. Though I don't know if this stacks throughout multiple playthroughs. Just make sure to get it in one go.

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/forum/../images/achievements/1972/5-qeKj4=.jpgPorter Pounder - 20 http://www.xbox360achievements.org/forum/../images/site/gp-g.png

Destroyed 40 Porters

In certain areas of the game purple Porters will appear. You can destroy them to get an item. Most of the time it's a sub-weapon or the passcode for a sub-weapon.

Some of them are only visible after you've acquired the detector, which is story related. You are required to shot the ones in Town 2 to get the sniper rifle. You will then see them later in EPS 1 and City 2. Green ones will appear in EPS2 and Factory 2 after you've acquired the detector. They will also be marked on your map so they are easy to spot. You can practically miss a few since there are more then fifty but you have to get all, if you want the Hacker/Gun Runner achievement for finding all passcodes/sub-weapons.

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/forum/../images/achievements/1972/5-m5PjA=.jpgBomb Squad - 20 http://www.xbox360achievements.org/forum/../images/site/gp-g.png

Disarmed all the bombs in HUB 1 correctly.

This is right before the last boss fight against Zombie Neith. 4 bombs will appear in the room that you have to disarm. Kill all the enemies first and then go for the bomb. You always have 60 seconds to kill the robots and get to the bomb each time which is more than enough.

When you get to a bomb, press and hold :bbut:. It is vital that you keep the button pressed or the bomb goes off. You can miss this, if a bomb goes off and you survive but just make sure to hold the button and kill all the enemies first.

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/forum/../images/achievements/1972/5-lXkLo=.jpgFramed - 30 http://www.xbox360achievements.org/forum/../images/site/gp-g.png

Unlocked Zombie Neith by unlocking all of the Orbital Frames in Versus Mode.

This one is quite simple. After you've beaten the game, reload the last save file right before the bomb disarming. Repeat, kill Zombie Neith, survive Anubis and after the cut scene you will unlock Zombie Neith as your last playable character.

Achieved an A Rank in a Rescue Mission.

Refer to Damage Control.

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/forum/../images/achievements/1972/5-t2mQ8=.jpgDamage Control - 30 http://www.xbox360achievements.org/forum/../images/site/gp-g.png

Earned an A Rank in all 5 rescue missions.

This is the hardest achievement in the game and will cause you a lot of trouble, if you don't know exactly what to do. before I go into detail let's just make sure you know the basics of these rescue missions.

Between certain points in the game, a big orange SOS sign will appear on the overworld map that you can hardly ignore. Make a save if you see one and go straight to it. If you even wait a few moments, one of the survivors could get killed, making the A-Rank impossible.

To get an A-Rank you need two things:

- All 100% of the survivors must be rescued.

- No more than 10% of all the buildings can be damaged.

Only then will you get an A-Rank. If not, just reload you safe and try again. As a short warning: The AI doesn't behave the same every time and although this is mostly skill based a little bit of luck is involved. So just keep at it. Now onto the missions themselves.

Rescue Mission 1: Town 2

The first mission is not the hardest but definitely not the easiest one of the bunch. Take a right turn at the start and directly kill the two Mummys, before they cause any damage. Make sure to fight them from above so they don't hit a house with stray fire.

Head over the field to the other group with the Mummy and kill this squad. Then focus on the two raptor in the top left corner. After that, kill the rest. You have to be fast and also look out how you position yourself. Always lure enemies to the fields. Especially the raptors can ruin your day with a stray shot that goes directly into a house. They can hit one or two without any survivors in them.

Rescue Mission 2: Town 1

This one is a bitch, because the damage of the Tempest fight right before this mission counts towards the total damage. So make sure to be careful. To defeat Tempest without any damage, get close enough to him so that he only uses the light flamethrower. Keep going back a little so he doesn't come close and stay on the same line since he sometimes uses his fireballs. The light flamethrower can't damage building though. Just use your range attacks to get his life bar half way down.

At the start of the second part dash to the left side of the trench so his fireballs won't hit any buildings. When his comes down, block the blue lasers and go around him exactly 180° so you face the opposite side. Then spam your range attacks and repeat. You should be able to win the fight without any destroyed buildings. If only one or two are damaged, you are still golden. If not, reload your save file and try again. Believe me, you rather do this a few more times than realizing you can't get an A-Rank later on.

Now for the second part. The actual rescue mission itself. Your best bet is to start of to the right and kill the Mummy. Then the other guy. Fly over the trench and lure the squad in the middle inside the hole. Fight all your enemies after the first one in here. Now grab the group of three with the last mummy. The other three are up to you. I usually start finishing the west side first. The main thing though is to be quick and careful. It may take a few tries, but you will get it after a while.

Rescue Mission 3: Town 3

This is the second hardest mission in my oppion and definitely the longest. So a few things can go wrong. Also the little river in the middle is not as big as the trench in Town 2. So be extra careful. The fun thing about this one is that the enemies will stand still for a long time before moving. Some of them won't even move at all.

At the start kill the group of three right to your side. They are the only one moving. Now I like to start on the left and kill everything with a Mummy. Use the Sniper to lure them towards you so the Raptors won't throw any mines and directly kill all the buildings surrounding them. leave the Raptor duo alone for now and go to the right. Only kill the two squads in the middle and go back to the left. Kill the two Raptors and finish off the new squads that are coming out now.

After every new squad is dead, you can focus on the right. Kill the lower area first. They can't harm any building so be direct and kill them with your slashes. At last kill the two Mummys and wait for the last squad to appear in their place. After this just hope any stray fire didn't hit the houses. If you're under 10% damage and all people survived, you can finally go on with the game. The hardest part is now over.

Rescue Mission 4: City 2

This is by far the easiest one even though Ada has a virus and you can only be hit once. But all enemies are level one and really easy to handle. You won't even have to be concerned about any damage or the survivors. Just fight and even use a few ranged sub-Weapons like Halberd to defeat the two Mummys.

Rescue Mission 5: City 1

The last one also is a piece of cake compared to the first three. The only building that can be damaged it the tower itself. So position yourself on the outer part on the map so the enemies won't hit the building by mistake. As always kill the Mummys and Raptors first. Then pick off the rest.

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/forum/../images/achievements/1972/5-oUu5s=.jpgValedictorian - 30 http://www.xbox360achievements.org/forum/../images/site/gp-g.png

Achieved an Overall Evaluation grade of A.

To get an overall A-Rank you to at least beat the game on the hard difficulty, which is honestly not that much harder than normal or even easy. If you have problems with the difficulty, level up Jehuty by fighting low level enemies at the start of the game.

Used Saves, Time and the number of defeated enemies don't seem to matter for the overall grade. But you have to make sure not to die more than 4 times and that you get an A-Rank on all five rescue missions. So just make sure to save a lot and you should be fine. Even with farming for nearly 2 hours at the start, I managed to get under 4 hours and receive my A-Rank.

Here are my personal stats

Difficulty: Hard

Deaths: 0

Saves: 22

Time: 3:32

Enemies killed: 890

Rescue missions: AAAAA

I've seen people with somewhat over 4 hours and under 250 kills getting the A-Rank. But just to be sure don't waste any time. The game can be easily finished in under 90 minutes.

To find tips for the rescue missions refer to Damage Control.

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/forum/../images/achievements/1972/5-v0Qwg=.jpgSalutatorian - 20 http://www.xbox360achievements.org/forum/../images/site/gp-g.png

Achieved an Overall Evaluation grade of B.

The ranking achievements sadly do not stack. But you still only need one playthrough. After you reached the end and got your A-Rank, reload the last save and die 5 times before the Zombie Neith fight. Then just finish the game and you should get a B ranking since every stat is the same except for the number of continues. 5 times is enough to put you over the edge to lower the grade to a B-Rank.

Are you sure to get A rank overall you need to do it on hard? I was able to get 3 A's in rescue missions on normal

Yes. Easy only gets you up to C, and Normal up to B.

Of course you can get A-Ranks in the rescue missions on any difficulty. But for the overall grade you need to play on hard and also get all As in the rescue missions. So then why bother and do it on easy?

Yeah I just did it on hard wasn't hard at all. Luring tempest to the river was a bitch but other than that pretty easy 500 gamerscore.

Also mummy wouldn't spawn for me under city 1 no matter what I did I didn't get it until the final boss battles when that river dam is full of those red boxes.

You have to go there right after blowing up EPS1. A ? will appear next to the name City1 and you will find it under the tower. Always was there for me.

I keep on getting 10.8% damage to buildings on rescue missions. So unbelievable annoying. I fight in the air away from the buildings but buildings still get damaged. I hate this achievement. I dont know if its different on easy mode but I keep on getting 10.8% damage on normal mode. Come on game, why throw in .8% damage over and over and over. Ridiculous.

Just to keep you from getting more frustrated.

PLAY ON HARD. It brings you nothing to do on normal since you won't get the overall A-Rank.

Did you make sure not to many buildings got destroyed during the Tempest fight? I would say more than one, try again. Two or three should be fine but it makes the thing REALLY hard.

To check after the fight just leave the area and save on a different file. Go back and check how many buildings are damaged. The save is so the enemies won't damage any more buildings while you're looking around.

For the mission itself I can't give any more help than the above mentoined route I take. But a little bit of luck is involved, because the AI changes behaviour sometimes.

Do the squads that appear immediately after the Tempest fight have a bearing on the Rescue Mission as well?

Not if you leave right away. After the fight, I skipped the cutscene, paused and left the area. Then I made a save, went back to see how many buildings got damaged and after I made sure only one or two were harmed, I loaded the save and went on with the game.

The squads can only harm the buildings during your stay.

how can i farm exp at the beginning of the game? the enemies are gone forever once i kill them.

also i am at the tempest fight and i haven´t seen a big SOS anywhere. where exactly is the first rescue mission?

You fight the enemies in the first area, leave, come back and fight them again. You can repeat this until you're maxed out.

Town 2 as stated in the guide.

Just a not on the Benedict Arnold achievement, this does not stack if you die an continue. Which means I'll be skipping it for now and doing it on an easier setting.

Same thing for Unhealthy Behavior. Also, after getting infected, the only three locations available are City 2, which has no enemies after you finish the rescue mission, Park 1, which is where the boss is waiting, and Factory 2, which has high level enemies. :(

I downloaded a patch when I first popped the game in, so maybe they made these achievements harder? Seems like a stupid thing to do, but who knows...
