Daedryon
For those of us who have a laptop or a computer that is wirelessly hooked up to the internet, this guide can help you connect your XBOX to your computer, thus saving you from having to spend $100 on an XBOX wireless adaptor. However, this is only practical if your computer is in the same vicinity as your XBOX, or if you have a junker laptop you leave lying around all the time. Step 1. Connect your XBOX to your computer/laptop via the ethernet port. Pretty self explanatory, no? http://www.instructables.com/files/deriv/FTZ/EIEX/FAQEDOCW/FTZEIEXFAQEDOCW.MEDIUM.jpg Step 2. Change your internet properties. This step allows everything to work properly. In picture 1, this may be different for you. Look at your taskbar, on the bottom right for a wireless internet icon. If you see one, right click it. If not, follow the pictures. http://www.instructables.com/files/deriv/FQV/RAV5/FAQEDOD7/FQVRAV5FAQEDOD7.MEDIUM.jpg http://www.instructables.com/files/deriv/F4M/GOHG/FAQEDODE/F4MGOHGFAQEDODE.MEDIUM.jpg Step 3.Repair the Ethernet Connection This is simple. Right click the Ethernet Cable icon in the task bar, and hit "Repair" Step 4. This is for Windows Vista only!!!!! 1. Go to start 2. Run 3. Type in ncpa.cpl 4. Hit OK Step 4. For Mac users only! MAKE SURE YOU ARE CONNECTED TO THE INTERNET VIA WI-FI FIRST 1. CLICK ON SYSTEM PREFERENCES (light switch with apple logo on Tiger, box with gears on Leopard. On Apple menu in both). 2. CLICK ON SHARING (Blue file with yellow diamond on Leopard, ?? on Tiger). 3. CLICK THE BOX NEXT TO INTERNET SHARING (2nd from the bottom of the list on the left of the window in Leopard, ?? in Tiger). 4. SELECT THE OPTIONS FOR SHARING FROM AIRPORT TO ETHERNET (right of the window). 5. DONE Now you are done. Simply run a connectivity test on your XBOX and you should be connected via "Wired" and "Ethernet". Asian47
Sadly, no. If you want on Live, your computer has to be on at all times. If it goes off for any reason, even restarting, you will lose your connection to Live.
