All Powers (Biotic/Tech) and how to get the achievements! Please Read!

Thanks to the people who posted these methods, I don't know who you are but you do, so thanks!

Note, all of these methods have been tested and confirmed multiple times so please everyone just follow this info and stop all the threads saying "I can't get X power to work while casting it at the wall" etc ^_^. If you still need help please post a reasonable question.

Here's the different classes you need to be to get the Biotic/Tech ability achievements:

Biotic = Adept

Tech = Engineer

UPDATE #1: It has been bought to my attention that you can get ALL Biotic achievements by casting them on the Citadel Transport Terminals. Multiple people have confirmed this. I have not, but I'll trust them. If you don't get the Biotic achievements by casting them on the Transport Terminals, try the bellow methods, they work 100%.

And here's how to get the achievements...

Overload, Damping, Sabotage, and Barrier can be unlocked with no target.

Stasis, Throw, Warp, and Neural Shock can be unlocked by casting them on the Mako.

Lift and Singularity can be unlocked by casting them on the Citadel Transport Terminals (the thing you auto-lock onto, not the actual transport cars).

AI Hacking, I made a save right before entering the room to fight with Fist. I told my Allies to stay back while I hacked the turret on the left. As soon as it was hacked I loaded the save and repeated.

UPDATE #4: User Kabanossi found it was easy to get all the Tech during the fight with Fist. Here is what he did:

I used Neural Shock on Fist and AI Hacking, Damping, Sabotage and Overload on the turrets. Use the skills, load the game and repeat 75 times.

Note you must be a Level 6 Engineer before you reach Fist (this is possible, just do all side quests).

UPDATE #3: If you missed out on getting AI Hacking before Fist, never fear. User Cohort Brian has come up with an alternate method that you can try (that's still early on in the game). Check it out in his post (link).

Note that EACH power usage is carried over even if you don't save. Each usage seems to be saved to a different save file that updates every time you use a power.

Please note: You DO have to save the console before you turn it off, or the hidden save file that contains your Powers usages (from your last save) might be lost. To play it safe, save every now and then (say, after 10-20 casts) so you don't potentially loose any progress.

And remember, YOU much cast the powers, any powers cast by allies DO NOT count towards the achievements.

Good luck and happy casting!

UPDATE #2: Colour Coded the Abilities to show which ones are for Adept (Biotic) or Engineer (Tech).

This is a really really good point. It took me probably twice as long for a couple of these because I wasn't sure if you needed to save each time. the unlock isn't attached to the gamesave for some reason. (Not sure how that is possible but..) With Fist you don't have the chance to save, so I was crossing my fingers when I went for AI Hacking.

Just before you get to Fist's room there is a room with two warehouse worker who sometimes offer to stand down. Then there is a closed door leading to Fist's room. As there is no fighting (and Fist doesn't appear on your radar unless you open the door and draw line-of-sight with him), you can save before you open his door. What I did was open the door, save, then walk a little forward, save again until I was just around the corner from him letting me knock out the AI Hacking achievement in no time flat ^_^.

quick question about the biotic achievements, i just started playing as an adept in insanity, all i need is the stasis and the singularity, i decided to change the difficulty setting to casual at the end of eden prime; my question is, can i still get these biotic achievements after changing the difficulty settings?

The difficulty doesn't affect the biotic achievements at all.

So, yes, you can.

To anyone who has gotten the AI Hacking Specialist Achievement: Is it possible to upgrade enough to enable AI Hacking during your first visit to the Citadel (before fighting Fist) or did you have to complete a full playthough with the engineer to level up enough? All of my abilities are greyed out after a certain number of blocks, including the block that enables me to unlock AI Hacking. Thanks.

Yes you can unlock AI Hacking before Fist, as long as you do all the Assignments possible you will level up enough to have the talent points for it. I got AI Hacking before Fist but I had to play a bit more to get Neural Shock. Just make sure that you devote all talent points available to unlocking it and don't spend any on useless skills.

I did it this way so I can confirm it ^_^.

Stasis, Throw, Warp, and Neural Shock unlocked by just shooting the Mako.

Dude, does this work if you use it against a wall or something?

Thanks for these tips. Unfortunately, my first character is a soldier and the second one is a sentinel. So I'll miss the achievements for Damping, AI Hacking, Warp and Singularity. Unless I create a new character...

Thanks man, but it sounds like I may have to start over. I am at the point right before fist and I've done most, if not all side missions, and I can unlock Neural Shock but not AI Hacking. Well, at least I know it's possible without a full playthrough thanks to your advice.

Nevermind - I still had Citadel: Signal Tracking that I hadn't yet completed and that leveled me up enough to unlock hacking. Thanks again.

No, I'm pretty sure, if not 100% sure that you can't do them against a wall. These powers need to effect something (like the Mako/enemy) for them to count. The Mako's an easy target as you can cast the powers on it as soon as you leave the Citadel the 1st time.

I did it when I went to save Liara. Seeing as I had gotten all but one Tech achievement before leaving the Citadel, I only needed to do Neural Shock on the Mako to finish them off ^_^.

ok, I have some tips to your guide. First off, you are able to get ALL the biotics just by using them against the citadel transport.

Also a better way that I found to get the AI hacking is to get to advanced AI hacking (around lv 13), then go to Liaras planet. Then head into the middle of the big walls that you first encounter, kill everyone. Then in the room where the button that opens that gate is at, there should be one enemy. Set your allies to stay outside, then head in. As long as the enemy cant see you, you can save so you can get relativly close to it. Once there map the AI hacking so RB will use it, save. Then its really easy and quick to get the achievement.

That's a good tip about casting them all at the Terminal. I wrote that you you don't need a target for some so people don't think the have to cast it on the Terminal. What I've listed is how to get them all, not the only way to get them. If people just follow the guide, than everyone will get the achievement as it's all been proven. If people start doing things their way the may not get the achievement like I did .

And the way I mention AI Hacking was just one way to do it. Seeing as I saved, cast then reloaded my save, there was no need to have Advanced AI Hacking. And it's actually quicker to reload a save then to wait for the power to cool down, I timed it ^_^.

But yes, your tips are correct. I'm leaving my guide as-is as so not to confuse people. I think keeping it simple will help more people and will raise less questions of "How do I get X ability achievement".

Awww the wonderful memories when Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles used to be good :p.

I'm glad people are using this guide and showing their thanks. I had lots of trouble getting these achievements and thought I'd spare people the time and frustration I suffered by sharing these words of wisdom!

Just some suggestions for everyone since I'm on my 4th play through and have observed quite a few things regarding biotic / tech powers:

Certain powers will unloc during the course of the game just by using them normally. Don't wast any time grinding out powers like barrier, sabotage, or overload. Really all of the powers that don't need a target will unlock if you just map them and keep pressing RB as you run around. Barrier in particular unlocks on it's own during the course of the game since you are likely going for Tactician as well so you try to keep your shields buffed out as much as possible. If you play an Adept and take the Bastion (I butchered that spelling) prestige class then you can keep Barrier running all the time once you max out the prestige class and barrier. You can literally cast it again before it wears off.

Talents that require a target, like the Mako can also be gained going through the game. Every time you hop out of the Mako, cast it. Before you hop in, cast it. If you're doing all the side quests you'll have this in no time.

AI Hacking is also easy enough. You encounter a ton of Geth so just lead off your attack with a hack. My fourth play through is as an Engineer so I'm not sure what prestige classes I have available to me but I can't see this achievement as being very hard to get.

No need to reload games or grind them out. Hell, I got Overload and Sabotage before I left the Citadel for the first time. Yeah I did some side missions but I already got Liara's achievement so that bitch can wait till I free her this time.
