Obtain every item.

This is a guide for unlocking the “Compulsive” achievement.

This guide is now complete, I will not be making anymore large updates, but will still add submitted information and fix any mistakes. All submissions will be credited in the “Credits” section. To find specific items in the guide use the CTRL + F shortcut on your keyboard and type in what you are looking for. I will also make reference to items found in treasure chests, for a full list of the games treasure chest see the Treasure Chest Guide.

This achievement CANNOT be unlocked on Easy as you do not have access to the Seraphic Gate, which is required for this achievement, it CAN be unlocked on Normal, Hard, and Infinity difficulties.

This must be done in the course of one playthrough as no progress of any kind carries over when starting a new game.

WARNING:

This guide will contain storyline spoilers, I will keep them to a minimum but some will be required to explain sections of the guide.

Links:

Some helpful links.

- The Achievement Guide can be found here

(LINK)"](LINK).

- The Treasure Chest Guide can be found here (LINK).

- Interactive checklist can be found here (LINK).

Saving:

I highly recommend making use of most (if not all) of the 20 save slots you have available. Saving on a new slot every time you save, and then looping back to slot 1 once you have filled all other slots. This way you can always load a previous save if you have missed something rather than having to start again.

Quests:

Many of the items you will need to unlock this achievement will be found by accepting quests. It’s worth noting that you do NOT need to complete all of these quests as you only need to have 1 of each item. So if for example the reward for a quest is 1,000 Fol or a Red Berry Potion you can leave the quest unfinished. I will NOT be listing all the quests in this guide, only quests that are required to unlock the “Compulsive” achievement, so any quest listed will have items that are required for the achievement make sure you get those items.

Recommendations:

Following are a few tips that will help you get the “Compulsive” achievement:

- Make absolutely sure that you do NOT miss any of the items marked as missable (Red in the guide).

- Every time you enter a store make sure you buy a minimum of 1 of each item.

- When in stores that sell Materials buy a large amount of them as even if they are easy to find themselves they may be required for forging later in the game, and may be harder to find at that point.

- Make sure to visit every store after every major story event.

- Make sure you get every item marked in blue or red as you follow the guide.

- Use items sparingly, items dropped only by enemies like animal parts in particular.

- Do NOT sell anything, if you need money use some of the quick money tips posted in the guide.

- Do NOT leave quests till later; some quests will only be available at certain times, to be on the safe side complete them as soon as you can.

- Unlocking this achievement will require a great deal of farming, and item crafting. So you will often be required to score Player Advantage to get the required items, as rarer items won't drop without Advantage.

- Make use of the Interactive checklist to mark off items as you find them.

- If after completing the Checklist, the achievement does not unlock make sure to remove all items currently equipped to you characters, this has been reported to unlock the achievement for some.

Missable Items:

Following is a summary of all items that can be permanently missed, there are also items that are best found at certain points but they will NOT be listed here, only items that can be missed completely. Key:

Colors that will be used in the guide.

  • Green Text - A common item that can be found easily, and cannot be missed.
  • Blue Text - Required for the achievement but cannot be missed. I still recommend you get these items/quests completed as soon as you can.

Unique Recipes:

This section will contain information on the recipes that are required for the "Compulsive" achievement.

You can find a complete list of all characters IC creation lists here (LINK).

WARNING - Before making ANY recipe that involves a unique item, save your game as you can fail. Which could ruin the achievement for you.

-------

Capell:

--------

You will need to use Capell's enchanting ability to break one of each type of weapon, and one of each type of armour. To do this you will need to cast any of the enchants with "Weapon Shatter" or "Armour Shatter" in their title (depending on what your trying to break).

You can break any weapon, but I'd suggest using the enchant on a cheap weapon that can be easily replaced, or doesn't need to be replaced.

You only need to break one weapon from each weapon type. So for example you would only need to break one shortsword, not a shortsword and a broadsword, as they are both One-Handed Swords. You would however need to break a Hand-and-a-Half Sword, as it is a different type of weapon, in this case a Greatsword.

Tip: If you unequip the weapon or armour after using the enchantment it will break immediately rather than waiting for the enchantment to expire.

Following are the weapons/armour you will end up with, and the weapons/armour they came from:

Weapons:

To shatter weapons I suggest you use INT x2, this enchantment requires:

- Copper Ring - x3

Can be bought from the Accessory Shopkeeper in Fayel.

- Giant Eye - x1

Dropped by the Inferno Gluttons on the Dragonbone Shrine floor of the Seraphic Gate.

Note: You will need to have entered the Seraphic Gate to use this enchantment.

Original Weapon Type / Result of Breaking:

- One-Handed Swords = Dented Sword

- Bows = Worn Bow

- Staves = Bent Staff

- Grimoires = Moth-Eaten Grimoire

- Greatswords = Rusted Greatsword

- Dual Daggers = Nicked Dagger

- Batons = Cracked Baton

- Drums = Ripped Drum

- Axes = Worn Axe

- Katanas = Blunt Katana

- Daggers = Old Dagger

- Claws = Broken Claws

Armour:

To shatter armour I suggest you use DEF x2, this enchantment requires:

- Silver Ring - x3

Can be bought from the Accessory Shopkeeper in Fayel.

- Crab Shell - x1

Dropped by the Pebbleshell Crabs on the Nolaan floor of the Seraphic Gate.

Original Armour Type / Result of Breaking:

- Heavy Armour = Dented Armour

- Light Armour = Torn Cloths

- Magic Armour = Moth-Eaten Robe

Note: The following pieces of armour can also be crafted by Sigmund.

- Heavy Helmet = Dented Helmet

- Light Helmet = Shabby Hat

- Magic Helmet = Tarnished Circlet

- Heavy Boots = Rusted Greaves

- Light Boots = Soleless Shoes

- Magic Boots = Broken-Heeled Sandals

-----------

Sigmund:

-----------

Make sure to make the following two unique items with Sigmund, this can be done before finishing Vesplume Tower, or after defeating Shadow Sigmund in the Seraphic Gate.

Lei:

- Laurel - x2

Can be bought in the Halgita General Shop.

Blossom Ring:

- Laurel - x2

Can be bought in the Halgita General Shop.

Glad you are doing this, I would really love to know when it is finished and confirmed to be complete because thats the only thing I have left to do (other than max out fol which I will do on my last run anyway). Once this is finished I can finally get 1000 on this game.

Excellent so far! You're pretty much got down all the stuff I can think of between my two attempts at this achievement. Here are my tips:

-Use items very sparingly, especially animal parts and the rarer potions.

-Don't sell anything. Ever. It might be tempting but they'll come in handy later. If you need money, use some of the crafting tricks to turn a profit.

-Be prepared for lots of item farming and even more item crafting. The main items I'm having to farm at this point are Gold Berries, Dragon Fangs, Pius Wood.

-Get used to getting Player Advantages, some of the rarer items won't drop without it.

Hope that helps, I hope to get this achievement soon so we can have a definite list. Demon9Tom gets mad props for taking on this daunting guide!

For those who got trouble with collecting dragon scale and dragon meat, you can bring Rico and Gustav to Luce plains area in SG. From Rico's personal skill "Hyperactive", when you sheathe your weapon, Rico will walk around by himself. If he stops, there is 5% chance to get item in that area. In Luce plains, there are couple of items plus Dragon scale.

As same as Rico's skill, Gustav's personal skill "Tracker" or "High Tracker", when you connect with Gustav, sheathed and no enemy, there is 5% chance (for Tracker) or 10% chance (for High Tracker) to get meat or fruit type item every half hour. For Luce plains areas, it means Dragon meat.

Hope this help.

I've added your tips to the guide, some very useful stuff there. But any help you can give on this one is really appreciated :).

Interesting suggestion, I'd never really used those abilities myself but since the percentages are so low, and you need to have certain party members with you, Gustav being the main problem. Do you find this more time efficient than making multiple runs through the plains?

Honesty, my method is waste of playing time. However, if you have wired controller, you can leave Capel and friends over a night. Then you will get your staff in the morning.

I suggest this method only for dragon scale and meat because

1. You can get these item together.

2. Amount of item requirement is not too much, I think it's only 4 Dragon meat but I can't remember about the scale. It does not take too long.

3. I am sick of hunting those creature and take advantage from them. Before I use these method, I hunt around 60-70 Dragon fangs so I get tired from those Sword tail Viper. I need some rest :woop:

Additional, you need around 50 of gold berry from those cactus in Cobasna Timberland (SG) if you do not have any gold berry potion or gold berry powder in your stock.

Thanks for the credit, although I can hardly say it was an original idea!

Amazing work. I've been working on a list of each individual item to try and figure out just how many there are, I'm up to 869 but I'm pretty sure I've missed out the armours/weapons obtained via shattering

hmashin - do you know if it is possible to obtain Crab Meat the way you described?

The quest of 'Nina, Cautious Girl' isn't strictly speaking necessary, but maybe you should cover it anyway... I never figured out how to complete it myself. I know I'm supposed to look for a Glint on the mountain, but I was never able to find it.

You need to speak to Nina with Rucha connected to trigger the quest. Then once you are heading toward Vesplume Tower it will be in the same area as Genma. I believe you can only do this quest on disk 1 when you are first heading towards Vesplume Tower.

The only item you get from this is the Blossom Ring which can be forged by Sigmund which is why I didn't include that quest.

This thread won't be a listing of all available quests in the game, only the ones you need to complete for the Compulsive achievement. daviduk2000 is working on a guide for all the sidequests. I'm sure it will be listed there if it isn't already.

Thank you, checklist(s) for all of the games items are something I would like to link to the guide, I doubt I will have enough time to make them myself. If your willing to make a thread containing all the games items I'm sure a lot of people will find it helpful.
