Ctrl Alt Defeat
I did search bar, nothing came up. For me: Kirk Hammett - Heavy riffs, and melodic solos. Marty Friedman - Skillful solos, chord progressions that make me want to punch a baby. Jimi Hendrix - Nothing to be said here. The most influential guitarists of all time, and for good reason. Jimmy Page - I have every Zep album and Page was a God amongst men. Just to name a few.
Spade.
Kirk Hammett - Metallica Dave Mustaine - Megadeth Alex Lifeson - Rush (His live performances are spot-on to the recordings) Buckethead - Just amazing skill. Nothing else to say

bigbear.
I always end up coming back to Jimmy Page, Eric Clapton and David Gilmour However, I "cheat" on them with Hendrix, Lifeson, SRV and Duane Allman Edited June 6, 2012 by bigbear. Bodom94
People give Kirk Hammet too much credit imo. John 5 is mine, everyone of his songs is pretty much a big solo. A few others would be Yngwie Malmsteen, Steve Vai, and Michael Angelo Batio. Edited April 13, 2012 by Bodom94

Coadster1
Tom Morello - Rage Against the Machine, Audioslave, Street Sweeper Social Club, The Nightwatchman Just because he is so original, sure there is the melodic guitar shredders, but they often bore me because they are so common, but Tom is different, he took playing the guitar to a whole new level, creating sounds on a guitar, that one may think he was using a harmonica or scratching, you don't hear that kind of originality much these days. I also love his political stand points, and just seems like a real chill guy. Not some asshole who let fame get to the best of him.
Xeros150
I think my favorite guitarist of all time would have to be Yngwie Malmsteen. Other favorites are Buckethead, Helmuth (Belphegor), Ralph Santola (Deicide), Dave Suzuki (ex-Vital Remains) and Tony Lazaro (Vital Remains), Michael and Christopher Amott (Arch Enemy), Alexi Laiho (Children of Bodom) and Robb Flynn and Phil Demmel (Machine Head) to name a few. A few others would be Yngwie Malmsteen, Steve Vai, and Michael Angelo Batio. A friend of mine introduced me to John 5 last year. His music not the man. I gotta say, he is seriously talented. So he's one of them. I also like: Brian Baker - Bad Religion Les Claypool - Primus. Yeah he is a bassist, but he is stupidly talented. The guy from Dragonforce. Can't remember his name, but the shit that guy can play is mind boggling.

Coadster1
Or a series of effects pedals. Yeah, but the average Joe who knew nothing about guitars wouldn't think that.
