Darth Heyburt
With the amount of people I see asking about arcade games and wondering what to do with their MS points... I felt what better resource could there be...than a thread dedicated to such a subject. Contributor (s) ; Main Guide - Darth Heyburt Additional Games - vista, antilucid, Wriggy, HoodMod, Paleo Looshe, Laufton_13, Marx0r, Otisbum Here you can find out; which arcade games are the ones to buy, which are the ones to afford...and most importantly how much of your electro-currency are you going to have to part with. Firstly the games will have two ratings. One- Game Rating - ***** (This will be ranked with stars ranging from 1-5, 1 being bad-5 being good) Two- Ease of Achievements - ***** (This will also be ranked with stars ranging from 1-5, 1 being HARD achievements-5 being EASY achievements.) Three- Replay Value - ***** (From 1-5 will it be worth playing or not? Look into the stars!) -------------------------------------------------------------------------- http://www.xbox.com/NR/rdonlyres/26760056-EFED-47D1-9C45-5BEC3EEE5928/0/box3dMiniGolf.jpg 3D Ultra Mini Golf Game Rating - *** Ease of Achievements - ***** Replay Value - **** Cost - 800MSP This game is good fun, but can get very repetitive. There are many add on packs for it which will cost more MSP, and are probably not worth the time or money. The achievements for this game are incredibly easy...you should know where to find the guide, but here's the link anyway . http://www.xbox360achievements.org/guide.php?gameID=179 All in all if you are looking for an easy 200 points and a value for money multiplayer game then 3D Ultra Minigolf is a worthy purchase. --------------------------------------------------------------------------- http://www.xbox.com/NR/rdonlyres/D3209F13-FC74-4191-A3D9-41288AEF9F5A/0/boxbankshotbilliards2.jpg Bankshot Billiards 2 Game Rating - ***** Ease of Achievements - **** Replay Value- ***** Cost - 800MSP If you like pool then this should keep you entertained for a long time, with over 15 different game modes this doesn't get boring too fast. The achievements however are a different story, It is an easy 200, but it is definatly not the shortest 200 you'll get. The win ** games achievements will take up to 10 hours and it can get boring doing the same thing over and over again. The game still however has an online fanbase and you can easily match up with someone during peak live hours. http://www.xbox360achievements.org/guide.php?gameID=34 This game is well worth the 800 MSP and with alot of play you should have the 200 in no time. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- http://www.xbox.com/NR/rdonlyres/CE3364A2-A4F1-4B7B-A5CC-3EEE88CFAFD0/0/boxbomberman.jpg Bomberman Live Game Rating - ***** Ease of Achievements - ***** Replay Value - ***** Cost - 800MSP This game is a classic and is more than worth the 800 MSP price tag, the online multiplayer although at times laggy, is great fun and the offline isn't that bad either. If you hook up with 3 friends all of the achievements can be boosted reasonably quick and the offline ones are not that hard at all. A certain 200. http://www.xbox360achievements.org/guide.php?gameID=257 If you a bit nostalgic, you probably already have this game...If not, then go buy it.......now! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- http://www.xbox.com/NR/rdonlyres/0EABED94-EFDD-4432-9392-6594DE2EA07E/0/boxsonicTheHedgehog.jpg http://www.xbox.com/NR/rdonlyres/D05DDDC6-92CB-447F-9B34-8461038546C8/0/boxsonic2.jpg Sonic The Hedgehog 1 & 2 Game Rating (Sonic 1) - **** Ease of Achievements - *** Replay Value- *** Cost - 400MSP Game Rating (Sonic 2) - ***** Ease of Achievements - ** Replay Value - *** Cost - 400MSP Games that need no introduction...everybody knows them and most probably everybody loves them. Sonic 1 http://www.xbox360achievements.org/guide.php?gameID=283 Sonic 2 http://www.xbox360achievements.org/guide.php?gameID=419 For 400MSP these are a snap...probably two of the top five best value games on the Marketplace. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- http://www.xbox.com/NR/rdonlyres/56BAAA34-7888-41E0-93EF-AEBE4F622A1B/0/boxuno2.jpg Uno Game Rating-**** Ease of achievements-***** Replay Value-**** Cost-400 MSP A classic card game is now a classic arcade game. For 5 bucks you can play the World's favorite card game. The achievements can all be achieved in less than a day, and with the most populated online community, you will always have someone to play against. Although there are a lot of people online, you will usually get booted if you don't have a vision camera or simply if the host doesn't like you. With a few downloadable decks with different game modes, it pushes the replay value up a bit more, but the game gets very repetitive. If you have the points, and you are looking for a late night game, look no further! http://www.xbox360achievements.org/guide.php?gameID=27 I adore this game... Blackvista says it all above =]. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- http://www.xbox.com/NR/rdonlyres/DBF41524-0800-4D3D-A782-47A1CF087FF3/0/boxoutpostkaloki.jpg Outpost Kaloki X Game rating-**** Ease of achievements-*** Replay Value-**** Cost-800 MSP This game is one of the most underrated games on Xbox live. Outpost is a quirky and fun tycoon like game. You build trading and mall outposts in space in order to build special buildings or make a certain amount of money. There are two campaign modes, along with downloadable scenarios and challenges. The achievements are a bit hard, so don't be expecting an easy 200 points from this one, but you can get some with videos from youtube. the replay value of this game is incredibly high, as there are over 20 missions and challenges to play. http://www.xbox360achievements.org/guide.php?gameID=19 (not yet played by me..) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- http://www.xbox.com/NR/rdonlyres/AD075594-FB39-4F66-86B6-69A38A5049C6/0/boxalienHominidHD.jpg Alien Hominid HD Game rating-**** Ease of achievements-* Replay Value-*** Cost-800 MSP May be one of the most fun side scrollers on the planet... chewing peoples heads, shooting lasers and to think all of this came from an online flash game!! If you like Metal Slug or any game of that sort then this could be worth the 800 to you. However one of the big let downs is the tricky achievements that are there to unlock and is a tough 200. http://www.xbox360achievements.org/guide.php?gameID=191 You never know, as with a lot of these games if you like the genre and/or a challenge then it's probably worth purchasing. If that doesn't apply to you...then steer clear.

The concept and controls are terribly simple. You shoot different geometric figures for points and use the two joysticks to move and shoot, and a trigger to use a bomb. No one really know why this game is addictive, but it is. The achievements are hard, but depending on skill they are achievable. You play a knight on a large bird jousting with other knights. Though the game starts out easy, as you complete each 'Wave', more enemies spawn and lava consumes platforms so staying safe becomes harder. The achievements are very difficult, and there are few that have legitimately completed the game. http://www.xbox360achievements.org/guide.php?gameID=16 Not Played By Me. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/achievements/30/cover.jpg Doom Game Rating - ***** Ease of Achievements - ** Replay Value - *** Cost - 800 MS A port of the popular PC game that was originally played over large computer networks before online gaming. There are many difficulties ranging from Beginner to Hell. If you don't feel like completing in these challenges, there's always races with power-ups. Remind you of anything? The races are pretty quick which add to the ease of the achievements. Multiplayer is great fun but unfortunately there is no offline multiplayer. Other than that, GripShift is one of my favourite XBOX Live Arcade titles. http://www.xbox360achievements.org/forum/showthread.php?t=49464 This is the most fun you'll have had since the original Micro Machines (on PS1). Worth trying the trial before hand. If you enjoy the trial, you'll love the full game.

Avoid this game at all costs... for these reasons; It's nothing like the mega drive version. The achievements are near impossible. It's too short. It's waaaaaay to repetitive. Just don't buy it. If you do however... then here is the guide. http://www.xbox360achievements.org/guide.php?gameID=23 AVOID! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- http://www.xbox.com/NR/rdonlyres/F41AA750-5769-426D-95E9-81A9A856EF6E/0/boxtrackAndField.jpg Track and Field Game Rating - ***** Ease Of Achievements - ***** Replay Value - ***** Cost - 400 MSP Personally this was my favourite Arcade game on the marketplace until SWOS came out last week. It's a great single player challenge and an even better multiplayer game, be it with friends or online versus 3 others via live. 11 achievements are easy the 12th can be a right pain the backside if you struggle with the hammer throw... but definatly a doable 200 points. http://www.xbox360achievements.org/guide.php?gameID=351 More than worth the 400 MSP. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- http://www.xbox.com/NR/rdonlyres/B508AC4B-8116-412E-B1EE-0B72ABD9481B/0/boxgoldenAxe.jpg Golden Axe Game Rating - **** Ease of Achievements - ***** Replay Value - ** Cost - 400MSP Who here doesnt't remember this? (*sees one hand in the crowd go up and ejects him from the website). This game is great, it has greatness...it emits the power of being GREAT!... and for 400MSP it seems like we are robbing sega here. An online co-op mode thrown in too (so you don't even have to be sitting next to your buddy while slaying a death adder.) The 200 is fairly easy and can be achieved in around 1 hour if you have a buddy to play online with. The only major downside to Golden Axe is that its too short and you could breeze through the whole game in half an hour. http://www.xbox360achievements.org/guide.php?gameID=282 If you don't have it already...for shame. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- http://www.xbox.com/NR/rdonlyres/14E26269-EE30-4D75-95AC-89DC203A075A/0/boxprinceOfPersia.jpg Prince Of Persia - Classic. Game Rating - **** Ease of Achievements - **** Replay Value - ** Cost - 800MSP. A game I remember from the Amiga500//Mega Drive days...It were great then and it's great now. Sidescrolling acrobatic action would be the best way to describe it and it really is great fun. The achievements are majority story based except for two fairly hard ones including an undefeated game one. But don't let that put you off its a good 150 at best. http://www.xbox360achievements.org/guide.php?gameID=259 If you've got nothing better to do with your points...buy this. But to be honest 800 is a bit steep for such a short game. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- http://www.xbox.com/NR/rdonlyres/4F70EDEB-6589-4F64-BC39-525FCAC5CE8A/0/boxpuzzleQuestCOTW.jpg Game Rating-**** Ease of Achievements-**** Replay Value-*** Cost- 1200MSP In this game they mix RPG elements and Puzzles, now I'm not a big fan of puzzles but this game really surprise me the puzzles never seem to get annoying as the system is easy to grasp, If you've ever play the old game Bejeweled you'll notice a few similarities. But for me the great part of this game wasn't the puzzles it was the other elements you can choose a class, level up your skills, choose which allies you want to use (All of which have special bonuses), Train mounts, Capture people, and even take over cities (so if you can't tell there’s a lot to do). And to make this game even better the achievements almost all unlock as you play through the story or do the really easy stuff there is really only one challenging achievement in the game (Master Craftsman). But the bad thing about this game is the replay value after you finish this game you don't exactly feel a burning desire to play through it again but I think that first play through is definitely worth the points I've had more fun with this than I've had with a lot of Retail games. http://www.xbox360achievements.org/guide.php?gameID=

You can choose between 3 different characters, a warrior, an archer, and a sorceress. It has online and local co-op; the graphics look great and the game play is smooth as can be. An awesome feature of the game is the ability to turn into a large animal and wreak havoc. The achievements are all fairly easy to get, by the time you finish the game you should have all of them. The only negative I have for the game is that it is a little on the short side and definitely, leaves you wanting more. Overall a great game well worth the 800MSP. http://www.xbox360achievements.org/f...ad.php?t=48576 ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------- http://www.xbox360achievements.org/forum/../images/achievements/572/cover.jpgBoogie Bunnies Game Rating - *** Ease of Achievements - *** Replay Value - *** Cost - 800MSP Boogie Bunnies is a puzzle game in which you have to pair up three or more of the same color bunny. The bunnies are all moving down screen until they drop in the water which causes you to lose. Graphics for the game are colorful, kids should love this game. The game is actually quite long, the achievements are obtainable, but require time (5-10 hours). You can play local co-op, co-op over xbox live, or just play one of three single player modes. Matching certain colors of bunnies gives certain effects: Cyan Bunnies make all the bunnies "boogie" increasing the amount of points for each combination, Red Bunnies cause an explosion which knocks out adjacent bunnies, Purple Bunnies knock out full columns and rows. Not a bad game if you like puzzles, again children should have a blast with it, or wifes who enjoy a good puzzle game. http://www.xbox360achievements.org/f...ad.php?t=52895 --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- http://www.xbox360achievements.org/forum/../images/achievements/559/cover.jpgPoker Smash Game Rating - ***** Ease Of Achievements - **.5 Replay Value - **** Cost - 800MSP http://www.xbox360achievements.org/a...php?gameID=559 Poker Smash is a mix and match game best explained as a "Poker meets Bejewled/Tetris" combo. The gameplay is simple, you move around cards (Ace, face cards, and 10) in order to make hands of 3-of-a-kind and up, the largest being a 9 flush, which is 9 aligned cards having the same suit. An extra in-game feature, the Poker Smash Store, allows players to spend points earned in both the Arcade and Timed game modess to buy unique gamerpics, maps, and even the solutions to the Puzzle mode. Possibly what keeps this game so replayable is the online multiplayer, which is basically a tug-of-war match between you and your opponent, ending with one side reaching the top (and losing), or gaining all 100,000 points. A tournament game mode allows up to 5 people to battle it out over the poker chips, in a 'winner takes all' fight. The achievements in Poker Smash are a fairly difficult set, the hardest of which is Chain Monster, where you must create a x24 chain all at once, something that is much easier said than done. There are an even amount of easy and hard achievements, you can even get 1 or 2 on your first Arcade try, given you pick up the controls quickly. All this said, don't be expecting an easy 200 out of this. It's a great game with loads of replay value, but know that you'll need to spend many hours in order to fully complete it, a task that so far only the creator has been able to do. Poker Smash is easily my favorite XBLA at the moment, and that's without using the online feature yet. It's got many unlockables and hard enough achievements to keep you playing for a long time, but don't fret, it's got the gameplay to make you want to devote those hours. It is easy to learn how to pick up and play (plus the tutorials are very visual instead of a lot of reading). Don't be surprised if you earn almost all of the achievements in a day or two of playing. Several expansions have been added to the game which add various new tile types, though no new achievements came with these expansions. This game was free for a limited time recently due to Microsoft's celebration of Live's 5th Anniversary. http://www.xbox360achievements.org/guide.php?gameID=276 Good game.. I snapped it up for free but if you like strategy games then this would be a wise purchase -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/achievements/38/cover.jpgFeeding Frenzy Game Rating - *** Ease of Achievements - ***** Replay Value - * Cost - 800MSP Great game for young children, other than that the game is very repetitive and easy. You start off as an angel fish and slowly move your way through 50 levels, each starting you at the bottom of the food chain. You eat other fish and get gradually bigger in size racking up points and lives all the while. Achievements are VERY simple, however are time consuming. Good graphics and humorous the first couple of levels and the first time you eat a shark! http://www.xbox360achievements.org/f...ead.php?t=4771 I have not played this game yet --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- http://www.xbox360achievements.org/forum/../images/achievements/483/cover.jpg Omega Five Game Rating - ***** Ease of Achievements - ** Replay Value - **** Cost - 800 MSP One of the best side scrolling shooters available on Xbox Live Arcade! This game has four 3D levels with surprisingly amazing graphics. You and a friend can choose between four characters to shoot down wave after wave of enemies that attack you even from the background. Controls are fairly simple, left joystick to move, and right joystick to control fire. Achievements can be difficult depending on skill level, namely the four achievements you get for completing the game with each character without dying. Definetly a must have for any one looking for a great game with awesome graphics and gameplay, well worth the 10 dollars/pounds. http://www.xbox360achievements.org/f...ad.php?t=52063 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- http://www.xbox.com/NR/rdonlyres/C2A4877D-CCAC-430E-82FB-4A069334572F/0/boxUSnPlus.jpg N+ Game Rating - ***** Ease of Achievements - ** Replay Value - *** Cost - 800MSP The arcade version of the award-winning flash game that can be found here. The all-new version of the game, with souped-up graphics, more enemies, hundreds of new levels, as well as co-op and multiplayer, is as good as it gets. This is, in my opinion, by far the best game to hit the arcade yet. It's creative, original, and addicting. Definitely a must-buy. Fair warning: The game does get insanely hard, and will have you pulling your hair out by the time it's over. However, the game is nice enough to reward you with a nice achievement for dying 1000 times. http://www.xbox360achievements.org/a...php?gameID=438 If you have 800 MSP and you don't have this game, you're doing something wrong. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ http://www.xbox.com/NR/rdonlyres/D36D9C03-7C6F-49EF-88E3-DE67FEC9C221/0/boxkingdomforKeflings.jpgA Kingdom for Keflings Game Rating - ***** Ease of Achievements - ***** Replay Value - **** Cost - 800MSP By far one of the easiest 200 you can get. Single player achievements will get you 180 points in a good 5 hours of gameplay. While there is only 2 multiplayer achievements (20 points), it never stops you from playing online as well. Its very, very addictive. Especially when you join up with 4 of your friends and build really cool kingdoms. http://www.xbox360achievements.org/f...lay.php?f=1203 One of the first, and currently best, Arcade games to make use of the new Avatar feature. Darth Heyburt
Yer I have about 34 full arcade games, I plan to do a write up for most of them except the free ones and ones I haven't played yet.
antilucid
Pretty great Idea for a thread. As for Dig Dug, I think it is more of a 4 than 5 in terms of achievement difficulty. There are a couple of achievements that are not exactly no brainer anyone can easily get types. To me, that is what a 5 would be like. Uno would be a great example of a 5. Lord Chabelo
Absolutely love this idea. Thanks to this thread, Sonic, Sonic 2, Golden Axe, and Fatal Fury will be my first purchases from Live Arcade. I was hesitant on Street Fighter II and Smash TV and I am glad I read this before. What about TMNT Arcade game and the Contra games?
zdarko43
I kinda like what you have going on here, and wouldnt mind seeing this updated on a regular basis. now are you basing all of these on your personal level or are you getting these from websites / mags that have officially reviewed the game(s) already? If you like super smash bros melee, you will love this game. With a bunch of characters, levels and modes to choose from this game is one of the best. Darth Heyburt
Updated, Blackvista your guide has been added and I have started a contributors list on the top post. Be weary I will not be accepting entries that are not in the same format as mine. Leave the paragraph under the link for me to add my say on the game aswell. Poor entries will be shunned !. Game Rating-**** Ease of achievements-***** Replay Value-**** Cost-400 MSP A classic card game is now a classic arcade game. If you have the points, and you are looking for a late night game, look no further! http://www.xbox.com/NR/rdonlyres/DBF41524-0800-4D3D-A782-47A1CF087FF3/0/boxoutpostkaloki.jpg Outpost Kaloki X Game rating-**** Ease of achievements-*** Replay Value-**** Cost-800 MSP This game is one of the most underrated games on Xbox live. Outpost is a quirky and fun tycoon like game. You build trading and mall outposts in space in order to build special buildings or make a certain amount of money. There are two campaign modes, along with downloadable scenarios and challenges. The achievements are a bit hard, so don't be expecting an easy 200 points from this one, but you can get some with videos from youtube. the replay value of this game is incredibly high, as there are over 20 missions and challenges to play. http://www.xbox.com/NR/rdonlyres/BBD58E3A-DCB6-41A6-A1E3-14A278D37CB9/0/boxgeometrywars.jpg Geometry Wars: Retro Evolved Game Rating-***** Ease of Achievements-** Replay Value-***** Cost-400 MSP The best arcade game on Xbox Live, period. This game is the most addictive and time wasting fun. The concept and controls are terribly simple. You shoot different geometric figures for points and use the two joysticks to move and shoot, and a trigger to use a bomb. No one really know why this game is addictive, but it is. The achievements are hard, but depending on skill they are achievable. If you have any Microsoft points, you should go this game! Heyburt-I added a new feature; Replay value, you should add it to your games as well. A game may be good, but it may have no replay value... You can put a 5 for replay value for small arms. This game has done a good job at ensuring that you always have fresh air. On top of it's campaigns and scenarios it comes with, there is also a level editor to build your own custom maps. If you prefer not to go that route, map packs and two expansions have been released already. This has raised the maximum achievement points possible to 250, the highest yet for any arcade game. A lot of the achievements can be earned doing the original campaign for the game. The multi-player ones merely require a second controller to easily unlock them, if that. http://www.xbox360achievements.org/achievements.php?gameID=251 http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/achievements/276/cover.jpgCarcassonne Game Rating - ***** Ease Of Achievements - ***** Replay Value - ***** Cost - 800 MSP Based on an award winning European board game, this is one of the best strategy games on the Xbox 360. Wriggy
I've played quite a few Arcade games so I'll quite happily write a few. Here's one for now: http://img98.imageshack.us/img98/4570/gripshiftum9.jpg GripShift Game Rating - **** Ease of Achievements - **** (with the exception of getting every GripShift logo)Replay Value - *** -Races are quick and fun so you'll always get one in before you leave. Cost - 800MSP GripShift is an Arcade Racer which requires a bit of skill but at the same time luck to collect all the stars, zoom to a fast time and to collect the "GripShift" logo on one of the many levels. There are many difficulties ranging from Beginner to Hell. If you don't feel like completing in these challenges, there's always races with power-ups. Remind you of anything? Multiplayer is great fun but unfortunately there is no offline multiplayer. Other than that, GripShift is one of my favourite XBOX Live Arcade titles.<No Guide Available> Final Opinion: This is the most fun you'll have had since the original Micro Machines (on PlayStation 1). Worth trying the trial before hand. If you enjoy the trial, you'll love the full game.
SharpXXShooter
Just played "Heavy Weapon" after christmas and was actually a decent game, I'm not a huge fan of those analogue stick shooters like geometry wars, but Heavy Weapon was alot of fun, especially the co-op.
