Introduction:

Welcome to an updated version of the classic Rainbow Island games! For those who are unaware, the game was originally a spin off from the old Bubble Bobble video games, utilizing rainbows instead of bubbles. In this version, we find our heroes looking to reach the top of a tower to find a meteor that will grant them one wish. Broken into 10 different stages, you must reach the top before an evil professor with a big robot that scales the tower right below you can reach it. But be careful, you only have a specific amount of time to reach your destination.

The controls to the game are simple.

:abut: causes a rainbow to appear, which you can use as if it is a bridge, as well as pick up items and kill bad guys, and :bbut: makes your character jump. When you kill enemies, you obtain crystals that tack on 1 second to your clock. The more enemies you kill in a chain (which you'll know by the higher pitched sounds when your rainbow kills them), the more crystals you get, and the bigger, with red crystals being worth more. If you press :ddown: while on a rainbow, it vanishes and magic dust will fall. It, like the rainbow itself, can collect any items under it, as well as kill enemies. This is the only way you can cause damage to the robot that attacks you at the last meters of each stage. You can also jump up under it to make it have the same effect.

Step 1: Story Mode

Simply complete story mode (single player or co-op) in one sitting and you will obtain The First Step and Take it to the Limit. You can also obtain Happy Ending, Acrobatic Feats, Better Safe than Sorry, Help From a Comet, Superjump, Invincible, and the glitched achievement Questionable Talent.

Questionable Talent is only glitched by the description, which is in French and loosely translates to "Fall 40 m without falling".

And don't worry about running out of time during this run through. If you do, you pick up at the start of the stage you ran out of time on, and keep the distance you climbed up to that point, which will aid in obtaining Take it to the Limit. You also do not have to beat the robot during the last "meters" of each stage in order to advance to the next level, however if you do it automatically ends that stage for you, and when the new stage begins you are given a mass amount of crystals to give you more time, as well as additional power ups, but these do not last long so move quick! I highly recomend doing this on every stage.

Step 2: Time Attack

You need to unlock every stage in Story Mode in order to play through Time Attack. With this step, you will unlock Eager Challenger by running through every stage again in this mode. The only difference is that you go from start to finish of a stage, and you're done. This means that you can go for Speedy Climber at any time as well.

Step 3: Challenge Mode

This is the last, and most difficult step, as you need to progress through five stages (starting from stage one) and reach 5000m for Halfway Point. There's no continues, so you need to be fast, careful, and grab as many crystals as you can. I strongly suggest that you try to get chains of 7 kills, utilize the rainbow jump, and destroy the robot at the end of each stage to obtain those extra crystals and power ups. If you don't get it your first time, don't worry, this one will take some practice.

Conclusion

It's not too hard to hit 100% on this one. If you sit down and really work on the achievements giving you trouble, you could obtain the full 200http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/site/gp-g.jpg rather quickly.

Reached <1000m> in "Story" Mode.

See Take it to the Limit.

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/achievements/1220/+Cf-Tw==.jpg Take it to the Limit 5http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/site/gp-g.jpg

Reach <10,500m>.

For this you need to have all the bosses destroyed throughout story mode. A gold star will be next to the levels once you've destroyed that boss. After that, do the last level, and kill the first form of the boss. You'll be taken to a 2nd boss. When there, just keep throwing rainbows and walking up. You'll eventually hit 10,500.

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/achievements/1220/-PwV6g==.jpg Happy Ending 20http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/site/gp-g.jpg

Complete the game with the Good Ending.

This you also need to have all the bosses destroyed in all levels. A golden star will be next to the levels that you have defeated the boss. After all levels have a gold star, complete the last level again. After you kill the 1st boss, a 2nd boss will appear. Kill that boss, and you'll have you're good ending.

http://tiles.xbox.com/tiles/CK/eA/0YCLiGJhbC9AFQUXXFJRFkMzL2FjaC8wLzQAAAAA5+fn-q+nEw==.jpg Acrobatic Feats 15http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/site/gp-g.jpg

Produce a rainbow while jumping and climb it.

Simply create a rainbow by pressing :abut: as soon as you jump (press :bbut: to jump) and make sure you land on it.

http://tiles.xbox.com/tiles/4a/-Y/0oCLiGJhbC81FQUXXFJRFkMzL2FjaC8wL0EAAAAA5+fn-fev+g==.jpg Invincible 25http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/site/gp-g.jpg

Reached <1000m> without suffering any damage.

Just take it slow on the first stage, avoid taking damage and falling down (especially if playing co-op), and don't bother with the robot by the end. Make it to the start of stage 2 and this achievement will unlock. If you take damage, simply start over. Easily done on Story Mode or Time Attack.

http://tiles.xbox.com/tiles/Ll/ZB/0oCLiGJhbC9CFQUXXFJRFkMzL2FjaC8wLzYAAAAA5+fn-W5WNQ==.jpg Help from a Comet 10http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/site/gp-g.jpg

Successfully collected all diamonds.

This sounds like it's hard, but it's not and can be done in the first stage. When you break apart a rainbow you created, by either jumping up at it from under it, or pressing :ddown: while standing atop it, magical dust from the rainbow falls down. Do this on the enemies of the stage, and instead of crystals that go to your time, you get large colored crystals.

Look at the lower right of your screen, and you will see a number of colored outlines of crystals that are filled in black. When all those crystals are filled in with the proper color, that means you collected all the comet's large crystals and the achievement is yours.

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/achievements/1220/+L4GgA==.jpg Better Safe than Sorry 10http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/site/gp-g.jpg

Bounce an enemy attack off a Rainbow Shield.

According to the help menu: hold :dup: and press the :abut: button to form the Rainbow Shield. This can be done in stage one when you first find a tank. Wait for it to turn red, then hold :dup: and press :abut: and let the missile hit the shield. It will unlock right after it does.

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/achievements/1220/+3-3pg==.jpg Superjump 15http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/site/gp-g.jpg

Use Rainbow Jump at Lv7.

According to the help menu: Mid-right of your screen is the Rainbow Jump meter. When the meter reaches level 7, flick the right analog stick :dup: to activate the rainbow jump and unlock the achievement. Just remember that if you use the jump, it automatically returns to 0.

Note that to gain levels, you need to kill 7 enemies in one chain.

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/achievements/1220/+FjjqA==.jpg Eager Challenger 20http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/site/gp-g.jpg

Play all Areas in "Time Attack" mode.

Just like it says, play all ten stages again in Time Attack mode and the achievement unlocks.

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/achievements/1220/+bgbOw==.jpg Speedy Climber 20http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/site/gp-g.jpg

Clear one Area in "Time Attack" mode in under a minute.

UNCONFIRMED: This one unlocks either by beating the stage in under one minute, or by beating it under a minute in the game's time (meaning you complete the stage in 60 seconds according to the in game clock).

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/achievements/1220/+ccH3A==.jpg Questionable Talent 5http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/site/gp-g.jpg

Dropped 40m without landing once.

Easily obtained on stage one in Story Mode, travel to about 100m, and then fall down. When you land on the robot that follows you up the tower, you'll hit 40m. Don't land, and you'll get this. Chances are you'll get this without trying.

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/achievements/1220/-RzteQ==.jpg Halfway Point 20http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/site/gp-g.jpg

Reach <5000m> in "Challenge" Mode

Simply play Challenge mode and travel 5000m. There's no continues so be careful not to be hit. Make sure to destroy the robot that attacks you at the end to obtain bonus crystals and power ups to help you get through the next stage, as well as (as stated in the roadmap) to get your 7 kill chain counts for extra crystals.

Better Safe than Sorry 10http://www.xbox360achievements.org/forum/../images/site/gp-g.jpg

Bounce an enemy attack off a Rainbow Shield.

UNCONFIRMED: I haven't figured this one out yet, but the Rainbow Shield is apparently a rainbow that goes around you in a circle. No idea how to trigger the Shield in the first place at the moment.

Hold up and hit A to create the shield, use it to block the tank's shot in the first level to earn the achievement.

Hey, thanks. I checked the help section out because it was bugging me and found it. If you happen to figure out anything else I don't have, let me know. i think I'm done playing this game for the night, it's pissing me off more then I thought it would. Dunno if I'll go for the full 200 or not honestly.

Figured out the star jump thing a second ago during a time trial for 1 minute run.

Killing multiple enemies in quick succession can bring you the chain combo up to 7, which awards 1 rainbow jump level. Then just keep on saving it until it's ranked up to 7, then use it. That's my guess.

The good ending probably comes from defeating the boss in every level. I have 3 levels beaten like that so far. The controls are REALLY annoying, whoever had the bright idea of putting the attack to A and jump to B needs to look at the Xbox controller again.

Wow, had started writing a guide myself with no roadmap, but you seem to nail them all on the head. Nice work :)

I say wow because I think about 15 people will download this game, suprised to see such a quality guide and map up already.

I'll help fill in gaps where I can. I'm at work right now, won't be able to play again until later.

I also think the mixed up controls are jank. Bubble Bobble Neo was the same way. Jump with B, shoot bubbles with A.

Haha you always seem to post the information WHILE I'm editing my post. That's twice now! I figure it's that or, like with Bubble Bobble, you need to do it co-op. Let me know if you figure that out, I'm gonna tackle this at work tonight and hopefully get it, but I have plenty of other things to do. You confirm it before I do, I'll throw your name in there.

You need to drop them over him.

What he said.

And sorry, I actually just got this game and whipped the guide up in under 20 minutes. I wanted this game cause I loved Rainbow Island, Bubble Bobble, Parasol Stars...always fun. This is just mindnumbingly aggrivating...

If you have any information I failed to include, feel free to let me know. I'm bringing my 360 to work tonight and when I finish up a few reviews for my site I'm gonna boot this bad boy up and try to finish up (or pass out between calls since I didn't sleep for 24 hours AGAIN...) then.

Also, about the controls, I think they're fine. If you think about the old school NES controller, the left button was always attack, and the right button was always jump. So, A rainbow, B jump makes perfect sense, it's just difficult because we're use to such complicated controls now, and the A and B are slanted, whereas the NES controller had them linear.

no apology needed. i could make my own of course, but why bother? maybe for something like MW2 that would make sense, but not for this arcade title.

yea, hope I can help in some way :D

The happy ending probably has to do with the diamonds. You have to get them all I guess und you get them by killing the bosses and not running away from them. Not confirmed.

I did the story mode - not in one sitting. Unfortunately I can confirm that you will NOT get "Take it to the limit" this way.

I don't think it has anything to do with the diamonds but it's something to check. And as far as Take it to the Limit, well that sucks. I think you're supposed to get it when you do it all in one run, but I'm not sure yet, I'm just going by what someone told me who played the Wii version of this.

You should really complete the game before you write a guide man. You've only got 7 achievements and on half of the ones above, ur guessing at what u have to do. There's more to "take it to the limit" and time attack keeps time for you, less than a minute is the achievement. I believe you need to have ur rainbow jump maxed by the time u reach 10k, then rainbow jump as high off the screen as u can, then use ur rainbow jump before the game makes you come back down. I have no idea, thats just my theory.

Like stated in the X360A guidelines, you may create a guide if you have already unlocked ALL or MOST of the achievements.

Lucas, this is my payback for you helping me out in Lode Runner: to keep time under one minute in level 1 you need no Level jumps and no speedup. Jump as high as possible and than make a rainbow - repeat untill you reach the top. Needs some skills but those you have. Concerning taking to the limit I can not play today since my arm hurts from scratching in DJ Hero but the guy after the last level told me something about diamonds (or stars - not quite sure) so I guess you have to get all stars (kill all bosses) to get take it to the limit and for the good ending its probably with a second player or you have to fight another and final boss. On the other hand in the original game you got the good ending with getting all diamonds but not those for kiling bosses, those you can collect during the game. I hope we will know soon I'd like to combine taking to the limit with the good ending in one go. Anyway I hope it does not have to be in one go - I'm pretty sure it has not.

Reach <5000m> in "Challenge" Mode

Take your time. You need to get 7 kill combos going all the way up. Once you get 7, try and collect all the purple and red crystals. Do this through the first five levels of challenge mode. Also, destroy the robots, don't ignore them. They give you lots of crystals if you can kill them.

Hey guys, sorry I didn't update this since I posted it, I wasn't able to sit down and play this. My fiancee wound up staying and the game bored her, so, yeah, Rock Band 2 all day. I'll get back to this game this morning and hopefully finish up this guide then. I'd work on it here at work but not only did I have that to work around, I had to buy a new 360 cause mine bit the RRoD dust, and then my car broke down so I wasn't really able to have any free time there either with repairs and the aggrivation that came with it. Only one achievement left (thanks to Lucas' information on two of them) to confirm and then the guide will be sound. I SHOULD finish the game up this morning when I get home to give you guys a time for the roadmap on completion.

Lucas and Kooky: When I started this guide I had every intention of finishing the game up in one sitting, but unfortunately I have a life. My appologies that the guide wasn't 100% complete within a 24-48 hour time span like some of the other guide makers on here, but I have a fiancee and a 40 hour a week job. If you were that upset about it, I'll take mine down or ask it to be locked and let you submit your guides.

Oh wait...I see no guides of your own...

Sarcasm aside, that really wasn't called for guys. If you have created a guide, awesome, you know it can be a bit aggrivating when life interferes. If you haven't done a single one, then don't criticize. Simple as that.

But, I will put the correct information in the guide and definitely credit you two for it. I figured Happy Ending had something to do with the robots, I noticed the stars next to the stages after I beat them but I wasn't sure if it did or not, wanted to sit down and finish the game this morning and see for myself what they were about. Now if I can just figure out the stage Speedy Climber is easily achieved on, I'm assuming stage 1, and the best way to do it, I'll be happy. Still no idea if it goes by the main counter on the right of the screen that displays the total time, or the seconds on the left or if crystals work in your favor as well.

I was really angry at the game and I came here for help and there was nothing. I have guides up but I get the achievements first so I can be of help to people. I was going to make a guide, but I thought I'd let u keep urs and just add some info to it to make it better. My apologies tho, like i said, i was just mad at the game.

EDIT: and yes level 1 is the easiest for Time Trial. I got 56 seconds on it by jumping and putting the rainbow down at the peak of the jump. You just gotta reach the top before that timer in ur corner reaches 1'00

EDIT again: The fastest way I found to kill the final boss for the special ending is this: On your way up to the boss, try and collect 6 of the 7 big crystals (try and not collect the yellow one) and make it to the boss with as much time as possible. Try and do 7 combos all the way up. When you make it to the final form, try and kill an enemy with your rainbow, and it will take half of his life. Then just finish him off like the video shows.

Haha it's no problem man. I'm not pissed at you for it, I was upset because it was uncalled for. It was like you were calling me out for trying to do something good, and that's the kind of stuff that just really incites my rage, then DMF087 has to hear it. I know that shit can be frustrating, and like I said, if you wanna post a guide, hell, more power to ya, I don't care. I'm just trying to give back to the site since I use it so much. Shit just happens is all.

And btw, I was spending most of my time working on the Speedy Climber achievement. Stupid me never thought of jumping then rainbow...Thanks for the input, I'll try that first thing when I get home.

EDIT: I'm not going to be able to touch this until probably November 1st at this rate. If someone wants to create a guide, go ahead. I'll try to complete this one when I get the chance. Sorry for any and all confusion.
