What Albums Are You Listening To?

Alrighty, I noticed the old thread for this kind of thing was locked. Rather than bringing up an exact clone, I'd rather see something new, and potentially usefull.

Please read this before posting:

This is not a spam thread. Do not come in here posting what song you're currently listening to and then leave thinking you've just earned an easy post. You didn't. It will be deleted.

Instead, post something usefull. I'm going to make a sort of rough template everyone should follow. This thread can also be used in place of those "I want to listen to something new" threads.

So, in light of those "rules"... here's what I'm currently listening to:

______________________________________________________________

Beck: Guero

http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/b/b2/Guero.jpg

Specifically, I'm listening to Scarecrow. I also like Hell Yes, Girl, E-Pro, Fairwell Ride, and Go It Alone quite a bit. A favorite has to be Hell Yes though.

[ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WPqkAYGlynI]YouTube - beck - hell yes[/ame]

______________________________________________________________

That's my first entry into this thread. Should also form a rough template of how you should post. You can include as much information as you like, but I'd like to encourage posters to post why they like what they're currently listening to.

As I said, please don't use this thread for a quick point added to your post count. I will be watching it closely.

I am currently getting back into my Neil Young Harvest record. This record is absolutely amazing! 10 incredible tracks that I can listen to from start to finish. Neil's best album of all time imo. The man is a musical genius. I have been listening to it all weekend along with some of his other albums.

One of my favorite tracks: Out on the Weekend. I can't post them all, lol.

This album is tiding me over until Sep. 22. That is when the eagerly anticipated album Backspacer from Pearl Jam comes out. I cannot wait to go get this record!

Nice job @ Defcizion Chevelle is amazing.

On Topic:

Right now I'm listening to Evans Blue and COLD. I'm seeing COLD on September 18th too :). I've been in the mood for a soft, relaxing melody and thats exactly what Evans Blue delivers. Its very uplifting for depressing times. I listen to the old Evans Blue back with Matisyn new stuff sounds just like BB and I don't need two of them. So his other band parabelle is great too.

http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/thumb/0/05/Cold_year_of_the_spider.jpg/200px-Cold_year_of_the_spider.jpg

A very good album and I usually listen to the whole thing, I'm not a song person. Its listening to an album or one artist at a time. Some of my favorite songs on this album would be The Day Seattle Died, Cure My Tragedy, and Wasted Years.

[ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fK6V6kxq-UQ]YouTube - Cold - Gone Away (A Song For Starr)[/ame]

Gone Away is dedicated to his daughter and the music video is great.

http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/thumb/6/6a/The_melody_an_the.jpg/200px-The_melody_an_the.jpg

Great album for a not so well known band (Evans Blue). The vocals make them who they are and Kevin Matisyn is very talented. My favorite songs on this album would be Cold, Beg, and A Cross and a Girl Named Blessed.

Thats my music taste for now thats very long sorry haha. I love music and I could write about it forever...

¡Viva la Cobra! by Cobra Starship...a LOT. Mostly this song (which is also my most-listened song overall on last.fm - does anyone else use last?):

[ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h52EJ2FmSRk]YouTube - Guilty Pleasure Music Video by Cobra Starship[/ame]

Probably not to many's taste, but I love poppy stuff like this. I'm waiting for their latest album to arrive, so I've been hammering the previous two.

...also Fearless by Taylor Swift. Not my usual thing really, but I think it's brilliant.

Queens of the stone age - Rated R

http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3282/2569030969_2d4c46ac9b_o.jpg

Mostly I've been listening to Feel Good Hit of the Summer, but I think the best song (and one of the best that they've ever written) is The Lost Art of Keeping a Secret. It has some other good ones like Monster in the Parasol and In the Fade.

Here's a live version that I prefer over the studio version.

[ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=srNmb01mMxw]YouTube - QOTSA - Lost Art of Keeping a Secret Live @ Gonzo (synch.)[/ame]

It has some other good ones like Monster in the Parasol and In the Fade. I prefer the harder songs on this album but it does have some lighter ones. Hell, I like anything by Queens of the Stone Age. I just wish Josh Homme didn't have so many bands so he could make more albums with QOTSA.

Well I always have at least one Tool album on the listen. My default Tool album is always "Lateralus". I seriously can not get too much of this album. The title track is my favorite Tool song and would definitely place in my top 5 all time. Disposition/Reflection duology is a fantastic listen, great sound with some eerie lyrics.

http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/0/0f/Tool-lateralus-album.jpg

I jut recently picked up the new Modest Mouse album "No one's first and you're next" so it has been on the listen for the last week or so. Love Modest Mouse and this is a b-sides album of their last 2 disks so I of course already love it. Satellite Skin and Guilty Cocker Spanials are both fantastic songs from this album

http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/a/a2/Modest_Mouse_-_No_One%27s_First%2C_And_You%27re_Next.jpg

As well I have been listening to a lot of Kyuss again lately. Mostly "...And the circus leaves town" because it is such a seriously great album. I miss Kyuss. I mean I still love Queens of the Stone Age but it just isn't the same. John Garcia has such a Rockers voice. I am looking forward to seeing or more acurately, listening to Them Crooked Vultures which has Josh Homme (Kyuss, QotSA), Dave Grohl (Nirvana, Foo Fighters), And John Paul Jones (Led Zeppelin) when it comes out.

One inch man, Phototropic, Tangy Zizzle, El Rodeo, Spaceship Landing, Catamaran, the list goes on, "...and the circus leaves town" is such a good album. If you have never listened to Kyuss and like rock music in the tone of Black Sabbath and Fu Manchu then you must give this album a try.

Close to the Edge - Yes

Like the unusual sound of Yes. It's prog rock, so a lot of their songs sound strange and are usually drawn out. But Yes sounds different to stuff like Pink FLoyd or Genesis I think, but both of them are still good.

Youtube doesn't have the 20 min long version of the Close to the Edge song.

Revolutionary Vol.1 - Immortal Technique

Really like what he raps about and think that the way he sounds compared to most other is quite different.

(Language warning on Youtube video btw).

Lately, i've been listening to a lot of machine head stuff, mainly the earlier albums like Burn My Eyes. Good to listen to if your feeling a little bit more than pissed off.

For the past week or so I have been listening to the new Green Day CD, 21st Century Breakdown, since I finally got my hands on it after searching since it come out. Rather long CD, and has some great songs. I recommend a listen, it's a bit different for them. For some reason, my mom says it reminds her of The Beatles XD

Mainly this song:

QOTSA are one of my favorite bands ever. My favorite album is Songs For The Deaf, but Era Vulgaris is definitely one of my favorites as well.

Also been listening to this:

No particular song off of this one. I just love The Sound Of Animals Fighting. Unfortunately, I haven't had a chance to pick up their other releases yet.

So, I recently decided I'd listen to the entire Ayreon rock opera. You know, and understand what everything means, not just listen to it because it's bloody brilliant. Even though that is a good reason to listen to something..

Anyway, I'm currently on Into the Electric Castle, which is the third chapter. It's fascinating so far.

Alkaline Trio - Agony and Irony

http://learn.bowdoin.edu/italian/dante/alkalineagonyironyee2.jpg

I know a lot of people didn't take to this album as well as previous releases, saying it wasn't as hard as other installments, but I really enjoyed this one. Over and Out, I Found a Way, and Calling all Skeletons being some of my favorite tracks.

I'm listening to pretty much the entire DARK TRANQUILLITY full length discography, except Skydancer (I don't own it) and Fiction (thought it was terrible). Just picked up Projector yesterday and wow, so much different back then...

Anyhow...

Also rockin' my top 3 (thusfar) of '09

#1) Amorphis: Skyforger

#2) Gwar: Lust In Space

#3) Alestorm: Black Sails At Midnight (VERY close between those two)

I also picked up this bad boy yesterday along with DT: Projector!

http://www.metal-archives.com/images/2/3/4/4/234471.jpg

I've heard the 1st track on it many a damn time though, so I hope this one is as fun as their other releases. :D

I'd youtube for you guys but no flash on the computer I'm using. Just check out the links I provided and search the bands on youtube. I'm listening to a lot more but these are what go in and out of the play most often at the moment.

However, I MUST recomend the track "Where Is Zog?" by Gwar. It's amazing, and the ending antics will leave you in stitches. I catch myself walking around and, in a rough, domewhat powerful, fucked up voice shout "You're windshield needs a squeejie!!!" (however the word is spelled. squeegee? I dunno)
