KingGotenW
I've been hearing rumors about some games (halo 3 ) that play the game slower when you install it. My question is if Gears 2 is one of these games. In my experience, it takes longer for the graphics to load. I haven't necessarily noticed an increase in waiting time. Although I only played the game once or twice before deciding to wait for a patch. Has anyone noticed an increase or decrease in running speed or graphics? or anything that is different from not installing it? Also please state whether you would recommend installing it or not. LFCDANNY 2k8
Install it, try it, if you don't like it, delete it? I haven't noticed a change tbh
KillTheft_Echo
Seems completley normal to me if its installed.
Pashos
I haven't noticed anything different since I installed it. If you are going to play it a lot then install it though because it is a lot quieter.
Lancer Evolution
There was a list somewhere saying that if you install Gears 2, the campaign loading times are 10 ~ 20 seconds faster. So far only Halo 3 is worst when you install it.

jorGe62990
Loading times are significantly lower (approx 10-15 seconds quicker) and the system obviously runs a lot quieter, which I think is being overlooked here. Go ahead and install, your experience should be a lot better.
Munkeh111
Well I have installed, and I am not sure about the loading speeds, but the silence is incredible, it is as quiet as my PS3! Anyway, I did actually notice some issues while playing co-op, but I assume that is to be expected. I think it is certainly worth it if you are going to playing it a lot, especially if you are grinding for Seriously
jukkakhan
The faster load times are pretty negligible. The less stress on the dvd drive and the overall quietness are the real benefits.
fletcher2989
bungie said that halo shouldn't be installed because it was developed a little before they were told that games could be installed, so in order to make maps load faster they cache them. Now if u install the game, it cant do this, which would actually make the game run slower. U can read up on it at bungie.net. Gears, on the other hand, is a completely different story and it would prob run a little smoother if it was installed
Bobo
i don't remember it happening before i installed, but i've noticed it sometimes taking about 10 seconds to load all of the textures now... not a big deal as the game itself still plays fine and the silence fom my xbox is oh so golden
JesusBread
Install it if you have a shitty DVD drive like I do. My game used to freeze while loading the main menu/game all the time. Ever since I installed it I have had no problems. The online matches do tend to load up faster from my experience.

KingGotenW
*off topic* mmmmmmm... jesusbread.... (drools) make me a sacrilicious sandwich please That was really off topic... Is there any part that seems too load up slower? Like I said the graphics for online tend to take slightly longer on the 1st round.
agentplatypus
Loads are the same IMO, but the quietness=win. I say install.
borsdy
Hello king. I haven't notice any difference installed, textures still load for me onscreen. Gears 2 seems priddy optimized, the older games really benefit installed. edit: yeah, no noisy disk drive spinning is great Edited November 24, 2008 by borsdy

Thus allowing you to play longer? p.s. Hi Borsdy
borsdy
Sure, friction in the disc tray could make heat but as far as I know it is the processor that overheats so much in some 360s.
Joker0fLife
Campaign loads quicker, load screens are quicker, the xbox is more silent, it puts out less heat (I checked). It really does help out ALOT. The only downside is if you only have a 20 gb hard drive, as the download is 6.7 or 6.8 gb's and i only have 2.2 gb left to use

dm master
The only reason i installed it was for the lack of noise i dnt rly notice a change in the loading. If you play it often and have a big HDD then install it u might at well
