Halo Waypoint (USE THIS TO KEEP TRACK OF MULTIPLAYER)

Released on November 6th, 2012

Single Player:

1. Playthrough 1 (Solo Legendary) -

You'll probably only want to do 1 playthrough of this gme, and in that case, you'll want to start on Legendary by yourself. Keep in mind, this can be extremely difficult, so bring a lot of patience. See Lone Wolf Legend for additional details on this difficulty.

2. Playthrough 2 (Co-op Heroic) -

Now you'll want to grab 1-3 friends (or extra controllers) and complete the game on Heroic. This actually shouldn't be too bad with a few people who know what they are doing. Keep an eye out for your ammo, and try to trigger checkpoints whenever possible.

Multiplayer:

First off, you'll want to play 1 online game. From here, view the "Sharing is Caring" achievement solution to get 5 of the file sharing achievements. Now, you'll want to get to SR-13 by playing War Games, and then unlock the 4 player customization achievements described under "What a Poser!". Lastly, you'll need to get to SR-20 and win 20 war games online, which just come with time. While going for this, you will naturally make progression towards completing challenges.

Spartan Ops:

You'll want to start off by completing Spartan Ops Episode 1, on Legendary, making sure to do at least 1 chapter solo. During Ep. 1, Ch. 4, make sure to get Knight in White Assassination. During Ep. 1, Ch. 5, make sure to get Roses vs Violets.

During Ep. 2, Ch. 3, you'll want to try and get No One Left Behind on Heroic difficulty, and complete the rest of the chapter on Normal or any other higher difficulty that you are comfortable with.

You are free to complete Episode 3 and 4 on Normal difficulty to save on time. There are no specific achievements here, although you will need to complete these episodes at some point to unlock all the achievements.

The last episode you will need to complete, is Episode 5, released on December 3rd, 2012. During Ep. 5, Ch. 1, make sure to get No Easy Way Out and during Ep. 5, Ch. 4, make sure to get What Power Outage?, playing on at least Heroic. You can complete the other 3 chapters on Normal or higher.

Found all of the Terminals in the Campaign.

There are 7 total terminal locations, and you must access them (using :xbut: - by default) to unlock this achievement. There will be spoilers in the video and text description. View below:

[ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g93_ZW0pb_c]Halo 4 - All Terminal Locations - Terminus Achievement Guide - YouTube[/ame]

Location 1: Requiem [0:06]

At the end of the level, after defeating 2 hunters, you will come to a long hall. At the end of the hall you will view this terminal in plain sight under a clear ramp that leads to the end.

Location 2: Forerunner [0:35]

During the mission, near the beginning, you will defeat a small group of crawlers and a promethean knight outside in an open area, and your HUD will begin to become distorted. Masterchief and Cortana will begin speaking about the signal distortion, and masterchief will say "What's with this distortion?". Once this happens, the terminal should be on ground level, under the next objective.

Location 3: Infinity [1:05]

After meeting up with your teammates, there will be a short cutscene and you will spawn inside a ship. Just turn around and the terminal will be directly behind you.

Location 4: Reclaimer [1:28]

Midway through the level, after the first main cutscene, you will end up indoors. You will have to pick up Cortana and make your way through a hallway. Instead of boarding the elevator (primary on-screen objective) take a right and the terminal should be there.

Location 5: Shutdown [1:55]

When progressing through this mission, you will come to a section with a bunch of light bridges. At one point you will reach the end of the path and two hunters will appear. The terminal is directly before this checkpoint, but you can easily backtrack. When going from the entrance to the location of the hunters, take the last possible left and the terminal will be located behind the structure on this platform.

Location 6: Composer [2:21]

Once you reach the outdoor part of this level, run across the terrain to the building that says "Atrium" on the side. At the base of that sign is the Terminal. The "Atrium" sign does repeat itself on the side of the building, but this is one the closest and in the most clear sight from where you begin this section.

Location 7: Midnight [2:59]

Once you get to the part of the level where you are in foot, progress through the story by clearing the rooms of enemies and moving forward. Once you enter the 3rd or 4th room, you should see the terminal located behind two pillars. Walk around to the back side to access it.

Found and accessed Chief's record in mission 1.

This can easily be one of the first achievements that you gain in the game. Immediately after you gain control of Masterchief during the first mission, go forward, and in the very first room go down the stairs to find the “terminal”. Go up to it and press (:rbbut:) to access it. This is not necessary for the terminal achievement.

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/achievements/1975/5-t3+Oo=.jpgMidnight Launch - 20 :gsicon:

Got significant air in the Warthog at midnight in mission 2.

You have two options to get this achievement, the online and offline way.

Offline:

Unplug your Ethernet cord or wireless adapter and go to your Xbox settings. Set the time to 11:55 PM, and load up the game. Start the 2nd mission on any difficulty, and get into a warthog. Now wait for your Xbox to display 11:59 PM and wait until the clock changes exactly to midnight. Once this happens, you have about a minute to grab some air and you will gain the achievement.

Online:

While on Xbox Live, sign into Halo 4 around 11:55 PM. Now follow the instructions from above to gain the achievement.

Carried a UNSC weapon all the way through mission 3 on Heroic or harder.

As the achievement states, just make sure that you do the entire mission carrying a UNSC weapon. UNSC ammo is almost impossible to come by in this mission, so the weapon will spend most of its time empty and hanging on your back, only allowing you to have 1 usable weapon at a time. Keep in mind, Heroic is quite a bit easier than Legendary this time around, so you may want to do this achievement on its own after you beat the game. If you die, just make sure to restart the checkpoint. Also, keep in mind that you can attain this while playing co-op, meaning that you can have someone else do the killing while you cover the back saving your ammo.

Also, note that you are allowed to use the vehicle at the end of the mission, don’t worry about that disabling the achievement.

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/achievements/1975/5-i2Ccw=.jpgBros to the Close - 20 :gsicon:

Completed mission 4 without one preventable Marine death on Heroic or harder.

Playing on heroic will obviously give you a better shot than Legendary. Once you begin the section where you join up with two marines, you will then need to ensure that all marines from here on out survive the rest of the mission. Another 4 marines will join, to make a total of 6. Make sure to be aggressive and take out enemies as fast as possible, or else the marines will wander around and die on you. Once you get to the top of the hill, and are asked to defend, the AI should jump on the turrets. From here, try to push forward, and kill all the enemies that try to make it up the hill. If you can pass this section, with all 6 marines remaining alive, you will unlock the achievement.

Keep in mind that you can start at Rally Point: Bravo if you've already completed the mission and are looking to give the achievement another try.

Hijacked a Wraith and used it to kill at least four enemy Wraiths in mission 5 on Heroic or harder.

Playing on heroic will obviously give you a better shot than Legendary. First off, you'll need to steal a wraith, and this can be quite hard. You'll want to try and steal the first wraith that you see within the mission. Try to prepare yourself by grabbing a plasma pistol, which you can use to disable the wraith. Once you come to the 2nd outside section, and see some wraiths, destroy all the other enemies, and make sure that your allies are not driving around and damaging the wraith. You may have to blow up your ally warthog. From here, you'll need to kill the plasma turret operator, and I suggest a longer ranged weapon to easily do this. Now, you'll need to get into this turret position WITHOUT boarding the actual wraith. Run towards the wraith and use jetpack to dodge bullets. Now get on top of the enemy wraith and get into the turret position, this will make the main enemy get out of the wraith to fight you. At this point eliminate him as fast as possible using the turret or jumping out yourself and then shooting him. At this point, you will finally have your own wraith to use. If you die, it will restart with you inside a fully repaired wraith.

Tricked or forced a Hunter to fall to his demise in mission 6.

Hunters are the large armoured enemies that look like this:

http://i.imgur.com/XOv9H.png

There are two ways to do this. The easier way involves having a jetpack when you get to the section with the two Hunters in mission 6. I recommend killing one of the hunters as fast as you can. Now you'll have to get the hunter to fall off the ledge. As seen in the video, what I did was stand at the edge, and then have him charge at you. As he begins charging, use your jetpack to get to safety, and watch as the hunter keeps going over the edge. Another method involves trying to make the hunter back up off the corner by looking at him and moving back and forth to try and have him step off the edge, although I found that method difficult.

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/achievements/1975/5-ry8CE=.jpgGive Him the Stick - 20 :gsicon:

Took out both Hunters using only the Sticky Detonator in mission 7.

At the start of the mission, you will have a teammate die in front of you and drop a sticky detonator, make sure to pick it up. It will look like this:

http://images2.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20120610073852/halo/images/thumb/d/d4/Sticky_Detonator.png/250px-Sticky_Detonator.png

Further along the mission, you will encounter two hunters in one room. I recommend trying to weaken them by throwing 1 sticky grenade at each hunter although this is not necessary. Once you see the hunters, use the sticky detonator to shoot directly at them, either in the head or in the back, and allow the grenades to explode on their bodies killing them within 2-3 shots maximum.

If you drop the weapon or need additional ammo, one can be found on the walls with the same room as the hunters.

Killed 3 Crawlers in one hit with the Gravity Hammer in mission 8.

The gravity hammer looks like this:

http://images2.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20120922195640/halo/images/f/f6/22_gravhammer.jpg

Partway through the level, you will be presented an armory. Obviously, you'll need to pick up the gravity hammer for the achievement. You will need to kill 3 crawlers (dog looking creatures) with one swing within Mission 8. Right after going through the teleport, you can catch 3+ crawlers near each other if you're fast enough. Otherwise, just take your time, and get to the part of the level where Cortana will ask you to "defend". At this point, let the crawlers come to you, and you shouldn't have a problem finding them in a group of 3.

Ranked up your Spartan-IV to SR-20.

Halo 4 comes packed with “Spartan-Rank” system similar Halo: Reach. You will unlock XP as you play single player, multiplayer, Spartan ops and even Forge and Theatre.

I recommend completing the single player campaign on whatever difficulty that you are comfortable with, and then playing War Games and/or Spartan Ops online until you get to this rank. Completing Challenges within the game will also help you gain ranks much faster. SR-20 isn't that high of a rank, and most players should be able to get it in under 50 multiplayer games.

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/achievements/1975/5-5WBmM=.jpgHanging on the Combat Deck - 30 :gsicon:

Won 20 War Games matchmaking matches.

“War Games” is the new name for Halo Matchmaking. Although it is possible to boost, it is not recommended as it would be quite a challenge to match with your friends. Team games work best here as you have a better chance at winning over Free-for-all. Just take your time to play online and try to play smart. After winning a total of 20 games, you will gain this achievement.

If you are eager to gain this achievement, “SWAT” games are usually the fastest at around 3-5 minutes.

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/achievements/1975/5-+2-vA=.jpgOperation Completion - 15 :gsicon:

Completed a Spartan Ops Mission on any difficulty.

Very easy achievement. From the main menu, select Infinity and then Spartan Ops. Select the first mission on any difficulty and complete all the objectives. Obviously easy will be the easiest although it is recommended that you try on Legendary to also get the Crimson Alone Achievement.

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/achievements/1975/5-yZoVw=.jpgA Legendary Episode - 40 :gsicon:

Completed all chapters in Spartan Ops Episode 1 on Legendary difficulty.

Spartan Ops is a new game mode, where a new episode is released online every week. Episode 1 is named Departure and will consist of 5 total missions, available from launch day (November 6th, 2012). This is a co-op encouraged mode and it is recommended that you play online with friends.

For this achievement you must complete the first 5 missions on Legendary difficulty.

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/achievements/1975/5-64qOk=.jpgDedicated to Crimson - 80 :gsicon:

Completed all chapters in the first 5 episodes of Spartan Ops on any difficulty.

The 5th episode of Spartan Ops will be released sometime in early December. At this point, there will be 5 episodes, with 5 missions each, for a total of 25 missions (or “chapters”). For this achievement, you will need to do all 25 missions on any difficulty. Doing this with friends on an easy difficulty will obviously make it easier. Skipping cinematics and rushing through, will average you about 6-8 minutes per chapter. It is suggested that you complete all the miscellaneous spartan ops achievements on the way.

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/achievements/1975/5-9YUHo=.jpgCrimson Alone - 20 :gsicon:

Completed a Spartan Ops chapter solo on Legendary.

The easiest chapter is Episode 1, Chapter 1. Load up this Spartan Ops chapter on Legendary difficulty with no other players, and complete the objectives. This is will not be as hard as campaign. Just take your time, and keep in mind that you can die and respawn into the battle that you died in, meaning that you will always be making progress. You can also die for extra ammo.

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/achievements/1975/5-r6u4M=.jpgRoses vs Violets - 20 :gsicon:

Found one of the RvB Easter Eggs in Spartan Ops.

The best place to get this achievement is on Episode 1, Chapter 5. After the first major battle, you will reach the top of the structure to the first objective. At this point, follow the wall that lines this area, until you find a small break in the wall that you can look through. If you jump on the ledge, and look down into the rocks, you will find a small chest sitting on the rocks. Shoot this chest with any weapon to unlock the achievement. View the video for more information.

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/achievements/1975/5-saQxA=.jpg No One Left Behind - 20 :gsicon:

Saved at least one Marine in Chapter 3 of Episode 2 of Spartan Ops on Heroic or harder.

You'll probably want to do this with at least 2 people, as dealing with the AI all by yourself can be quite challenging.

Near the beginning of the chapter, you'll find a few small groups of friendly AI, and they will begin to follow you. The goal is to make sure that at least 1 of them survives the mission. It is recommended that one person stays on ground level, and kill all the incoming enemies as fast as possible, using whatever means necessary. The other person should walk near the AIs (so that they begin to follow him) and then escort them to the very top of the large center structure. At the top, there are many power weapons, and you can even feel free to give on of the AI a rocket launcher or spartan laser for safety. You should encounter very little enemies while waiting, although some sword enemies might make it up the structure, so make sure to kill them as fast as possible. Using this strategy, the achievement isn't too bad. Once you destroy the overhead ships, and finish the mission, the achievement will unlock for everybody in the game.

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/achievements/1975/5-k7SqU=.jpgKnight in White Assassination - 20 :gsicon:

Assassinated a Knight in any Spartan Ops mission.

The best chapter to get this achievement is on Episode 1, Chapter 4. I highly recommend making a custom loadout with prometheus vision for this achievement. After completing the first mini objective (activating the switch) you start going back to where you came from and a white knight will spawn around the corner. You will be informed by a voiceover. At this point, crouch around the corner and use prometheus vision to watch the knight walk back and forth, as he turns his back towards you, run up to him, and hold :rbbut: to preform an assassination, unlocking the achievement.

Completed Chapter 4, Episode 5 of Spartan Ops without losing a generator on Heroic or harder.

Obviously playing on Heroic will be much easier than Legendary although both are doable.

Near the beginning of the chapter, you will be asked to defend two generators in a small base against a few waves on enemies. First off, I suggest that you do this with a few friends, or other players in the form of matchamking, as this will be a lot easier. Next, use the warthogs to try and "block" the 4 main entrances to the base, which will give you more time to kill enemies, and block them from getting within range of damaging your generators. From here, you can use the Warthog or Gauss Warthog to kill enemies (ranging from grunts to hunters) as they flood from each direction, or you can stay on foot, running around and killing them. After about 3-5 minutes, the enemies will stop spawning, and as long as both generators are still active, everyone in the game will get the achievement.

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/achievements/1975/5-shMa4=.jpgNo Easy Way Out - 20 :gsicon:

In Ch 1, Ep 5 of Spartan Ops survived the enemy assault during the defense on Normal or harder.

You must do this achievement or Heroic or Legendary, contrary to what the description reads!

When you get to the section where you are asked to defend 2 outposts, you must "survive" the assault as a team, meaning that you will have to basically beat it. Everyone is allowed to die multiple times, and you are allowed to lose 1 of the 2 outposts. As long as you just keep killing enemies until the achievement unlocks, you will get it. Playing with friends makes it much easier, although it is also possible to get while playing by yourself.

Challenges see a return from Halo: Reach. For those unfamiliar, challenges are a system incorporated into Halo and consist of small daily, weekly and monthly goals for players to attain within single player, multiplayer and spartan ops. There are quite a few challenges going on at any time within Halo 4. You will need to play this game a minimum of 2-3 different days to gain this achievement. Challenges range from completing a certain level to killing 75 enemies online, or completing a Spartan Ops mission on Legendary. Challenges can be viewed from the multiplayer menu at any time by pressing :start: and going to the "Career" option.

Completed the Campaign cooperatively on Heroic or harder.

There's not really much I can help you with here. The achievement is to complete the game on at least Heroic with at least 1 other person on splitscreen or online. It is much easier to do with a total of 4 players, who are skilled at Halo. Otherwise, follow some of the Solo Legendary tips. Conserve your ammo, and work together as a team. Dieing is ok, as you will respawn. This should take around 5-6 hours depending on the players.

Seems as though you need to complete the missions in one sitting, you cant start from a checkpoint later to complete

That's not true. I quit part way through Infinity (level 4), took a nap, restarted my xbox, and started exactly where I left off.

You have to choose "Resume Campaign" from the main title screen.

I should say for co-op. Someone got disconnected so we backed out and started from a checkpoint and it didn't give us the achievement for beating the mission

Ranked up your Spartan-IV to SR-20.

Halo 4 comes packed with “Spartan-Rank” system similar Halo: Reach. You will unlock XP as you play single player, multiplayer, Spartan ops and even Forge and Theatre.

This is not entirely accurate. I can't say for sure about Forge and Theater, but you do not get xp in Campaign the way you did in Reach (you know, just for killing things). The only thing I've gotten xp for in Campaign so far was completing one of the weekly campaign challenges.

Updated the guide/roadmap.

I deleted all the pointless bickering.

Thanks. There was also some proper posts in there, but it's better off like this.

Great Guide! But why a difficulty of 8/10 ?? Seems not this hard.

Solo Legendary is incredibly hard and frustrating.

Great guide, haven't gotten to use it yet but for Terminals, I will be about. Just a quick heads up, for "Midnight Launch" you don't have to go into the level and complete the jump.

After attaining the Warthog, drive it to the doorway in front of the overturned Warthog on the piece of Dawn, aim yourself directly at the chasm and at midnight, gun the Hog directly at the chasm.

The achievement will unlock as you fall to your death and then you'll reload your checkpoint. Just a lot easier, especially if you are playing CO-OP and both players want to get it, (you both need to DRIVE the hog to attain the achievement, so you have to get out and let the other person drive and jump).

I'll make sure to add in that you can just drive off the edge.

Hey, just a heads up, it seems the Achievement descriptions we have are outdated. Check xbox.com for the new updated ones.

We have:

Mortardom

Hijacked a Wraith and used it to kill at least four enemy Wraiths in mission 5 on Heroic or harder.

and Xbox.com has

Mortardom

In mission 5, steal a Wraith and use it to kill at least four enemy Wraiths on Heroic or harder.

- It's making a bit of a difference for some...

Give Him the Stick

In Mission 7, in solo Campaign, take out both Hunters using only the Sticky Detonator.

Maka, you're Terminal 2 description is absolutely killing me. Did you cut off any of the start? It just doesn't make sense. After a few minutes of what!? It took me 20 minutes just to get to the section I think you are talking about (I'm playing legendary solo). I could have sworn I saw it but I continued on because my helmet didn't get fuzzy. Then it did as I entered a hallway. After exiting, I know I missed the terminal in the previous section. Does the helmet get fuzzy twice? Is so, might be worth changing the description.

I've updated the description, hopefully it's better now! The cue is masterchief says "What's with this distortion?".

Well, you just proved that you are a douche. :)

There's no rule that says there can only be one guide. In fact, this website encourages writing more than one, especially for a AAA title such as this. It always helps to maybe have a different perspective on how to unlock an achievement.

From the "Achievement Guides: How to write your own guide" thread:

My guide was posted first, surely I'm the only one allowed to make the guide for xx game?

This website is based around a community. We do not stop users from making a guide, arguing with someone and calling dibs on a guide isn't allowed. Any behavior surrounding this sort of behavior will not be tolerated.

Just to elaborate on this:

  • Anyone can write a guide
  • Your guide may be declined over another users, even if it is made sticky
  • Any rude behavior towards other guide writers isn't tolerated
  • Anyone can re-write a guide at any point

Maka the Mortardom - 20 G Achievement is kinda nasty to get, i done it on legendary today.

When your at the point to get the target locator by the crashed down pelican clear every enemy first but leave 1 wraith and ghost behind (Endless Phantoms can summon 2 more ghosts if both are gone without the target locator destroying the phantom) Keep the sniper rifle at full ammo to shoot the elite on the wraith turret. There will be 2 or 1 elite entering it next IF they are commanding to.

Use your battle rifle to take every enemy out first, leave the 2 ghosts behind. Avoid many cannon fires from the wraith and try and precise your head shots and dont cost a mistake but 1 is fine since snipers don't deal much damage on vehicles anymore.

If your low on ammo on your battle rifle and got rid of all enemies excluding the 2 ghosts, inside the gypsy get a RPG to take only one of them out. Return to the Gypsy and you should see a covenant weapon stash showing plasma pistol and needlers, garb a plasma pistol and be sure you target the phantom first when you grab the target locator; It will more likely to kill you as the wraith will like to take you out.

When the ghost has lost sight of you, charge your pistol to disable the wraith and man it's turret when it's operational, dont board on it cause there is 0% hijacking it, an elite will come out, you can kill it when you drive along the way and the ghost can be taken out now :) and when you done the shield objectives you should see your first wraith, after you take the 3 main shields to let the gypsy move in the next part which will be fun.

Take out what the phantom summons under it, wraith or ghost the achievement will eventually come when you destroyed 4 wraiths in a stolen wraith you manually hijacked.

This achievement i done was on solo legendary so i dont really play the other 3 difficulties to begin with. I dont have a video i can show you how but i hope it helps and sorry with the sentences and stuff i just got the achievement and it seems to me nasty at the start but the rest, you know the drill. :)
