Achievement guide

Arkanoide Live! - How to describe this game. Everyone probably has played a version of this game at some point of their lives. Breakout, Super Breakout, Brick Break. Really not that complicated a game.

This game should take between 4-6 hours to get the full 200/200 for. You can find a list of all the power-ups in the help/options menu of the game, starting on the 8th page of the "how to play" section. I will list the main power-ups to reference the guide. The 'stick' that i refer to is called a "Vaus." This name is confusing, so i will just say stick to avoid confusion.

RED L (LASER) - Allows the Vaus to fire laser beams. Acquire 2 or more to upgrade Power Lasers.

BLUE E (EXPAND) - Increases the Vaus size by 50%.

GREEN C (CATCH) - Allows the Vaus to catch the energy ball and release it anywhere you want.

ORANGE S (SLOW) - Slows down the speed of the energy ball.

BLACK R (REDUCE) - Halves the Vaus size. You earn double points during this time.

PINK M (MEGABALL) - Surrounds the energy ball with an aura that lets it break through the blocks without bouncing.

LIGHT BLUE D (DISRUPTION) - Produces 7 clones of the energy ball that bounce around the screen.

Played 10 ranked matches over Xbox LIVE.

Pretty self explanatory. The quickest way would be to either create your own game or search for a game that is only one round. Can be either a clear all match or a clear color match. I suggest clear color, as some of the matches you only have to clear 2 blocks.

Busted at least 16 blocks with a single Power Laser shot.

This is the hardest achievement for the game. When you break the blocks with your little pong ball that are not the unbreakable gold bricks or the silver bricks that you must hit twice to break, sometimes a power-up will fall. For this achievement, you need to look for the RED L power brick. This is your laser power-up. You will need to get this power-up twice to acquire the "Power Laser shot." After doing so, you then need to lay waste to 16 bricks in one shot. The power laser, unlike the regular laser will go through multiple bricks as long as it doesnt hit a gold brick. Not many rounds have this many bricks stacked high enough to even try this achievement. For quick tries, you can try round one of episode one. I personally recommend trying on round six of episode two. There are ALOT more bricks in that level, leaving you more room for error and more time to acquire two laser power-ups.

Won 10 matches against computer opponents.

Again, self explanatory. For quickest results, set up one round matches on easy difficulty. Turn on enemies, use zero barriers and cpu level at 1. More often than not, the AI is so bad that they will miss the ball and lose, which will count as a win for you.

Cleared an Episode with cooperative play.

Unfortunately you must do this on local play because the online does not support co-op. So, either grab a friend, or plug in another controller. It consists of two 'pong bars' as oppose to just one. The players will alternate, one being higher than the other, round by round. You can acquire this achievement while going for your "clear 30 rounds of episode x without continuing." The game is not hard and you shouldnt need a second person to help for this achievement.

Cleared the first 30 Rounds of Episode 1 without continuing.

There are two ways to play through the episodes. You can play by lives or barrier mode. I suggest you play by berrier mode. The barrier is a glowing line on the bottom of the screen below your stick that is basically a backstop if you miss. Using the berrier mode, you get to keep whatever power-up you currently have, as oppose to lives mode where you will lose your power-up if the ball goes below your stick. Set the mode to 5 barrier (or 7 lives if you choose that route), difficulty to easy, enemies off. Be patient as some of the levels can be frustrating to get the angles to go where you want the ball to go. Definately utilize the Pink M (Megaball) power-up and the Red L (Laser) power-up.

Cleared Episode 2 in 1P Play.

Start game with 1P mode. There are 30 rounds, plus a boss level. After you hit the boss a few times, he will spit out a bunch of crap at you or start bouncing around the screen. Dodge dodge dodge.

Destroyed a total of 100 Enemies.

Turn Enemies on. Play through some rounds. You should get this pretty quickly. Either use your power-ups(ie, laser), the ball, or your stick and run into the enemies. The enemies come pouring out so often that you will get this in no time at all. No reason to stress about this achievement.

Busted 10 blocks as Mini-Vaus.

To acquire the Mini-Vaus, you must get the Black R (Reduce) power up. This will half the size of your stick. Destroy 10 blocks while having the small stick. Easy as that. Just dont miss the ball while you have the little stick.

Pretty good guide my friend, only you missed some power-ups like:

PINK B (BREAK) - Opens a gate in the right side of the screen, if you enter, the round finish and you get 10,000 points. (Only if you choose lives)

DARK GREEN T (THUNDER) - Creates a barrier behind the Vaus, it only can resist one ball. (Only if you choose lives)

WHITE P (PLAYER?) - Get an extra live. (Only if you choose lives)

PINK W (WARP) - Automatically finish the round. (Only if you choose barriers)

DARK GREEN B (BARRIER) - Increases the resistense of the barrier by one point, Max. 10. (Only if you choose barriers)

WHITE V (VANISH) - Despair all the blocks of the same color that the ball touches next . (Only if you choose barriers)

And the power-ups (power-downs?) of the versus mode:

BLACK S (SLOW) - Slows down the enrgy ball of your rival.

BLACK R (REDUCE) - Halves the size of the vaus of your rival.

BLACK H (HARD) - Creates a series of hard blocks on the rival screen, varies between 3 to 5 depending on the difficult.

BLACK I (INCREASE) - Creates a series of normal blocks on the rival screen, varies between 3 to 5 depending on the difficult.

Not very very important for the achivements but in some cases usefully.

See ya (My first post xD)

I didn't see that it was all that necessary to include all of that information. I did reference the exact place in the 'how to play' section in the game though.

I thought the VS computer Achievement was for beating the computer on all 10 of its difficulty levels.

Also you should spell check the word "barrier".

1) No, you just need to win 10 times. It would be a much more difficult achievement if that were the case though.

2) I fixed my typos, thanks for letting me know. Not quite sure why i spelled it that way, probably lack of sleep.

Lives is actually much easier for beating the game without continuing than Barrier. You'll get at least 6 extra lives as your score increases, which you just can't do in Barrier.

perhaps you are better at this game than most people, which is great for you. im not taking anything away from your skills at this game, but setting to barrier max 5 is equivalent to having 6 lives per level. plus, using the barrier will let you keep your weapon that you currently have on, where using lives, if you die, you lose your weapon. while using barriers you can ignore the ball when you get the laser and just shoot your way through most levels.

Whoops, did I misremember how Barrier works? I was thinking that it didn't refill.

But there are several levels, especially in episode 2, where Laser will not save the day. Dying also gives you a chance at a perfect shot when you respawn, which can be helpful if you're having trouble aiming at weird spots.

yes, i agree that you can get a perfect shot. also if you die it, during some of the levels that have alot of gold bricks, it will start the ball at the normal speed as oppose to going insanely fast. i still believe that the barrier would help out the lesser experienced peope in the long run.

good guide but I have to say I also think lives is easier than barrier, especially on those rough boards where you have to get the ball in a small hole. I found on those boards the ball would go fast and my barriers would dissapear fast. I also ended up getting 30 level with no continue ach doing the co-op ach(by myself). It seemed to make is easier for me. I might try it on ep 2 as well.
