Nitnoid
Has anyone come up with a good use for gravel? Its ugly, doesn't place well and seems to be a most useless block. Sand comes in a close second, but at least its a little more aesthetically pleasing. Anytime I find a lava pit, I toss all of my gravel in. Arrrk
Well, digging up Gravel with a Shovel has a 10% chance of turning it into Flint. Other than that, some people use it to create pathways, and courtyards. I agree with you, it's ugly and usually ends up thrown in the sea.
bob101910
Good for flint and traps. Sand is good for glass.
Tatanko
My friend had an idea for a zen garden using gravel as the "floor", but we haven't actually made it yet. I'll report back with pictures if we do.
JORDAN K 95
i dont use it for anything but i have a full chest of it, i find sand quite useful, it can make glass and is easy for filling up holes, and can also be made into sandstone (ive built a lot of sandstone stuff like pyrmaids and castles recently) and for disposing items i use my bin.. its a cactus with a trap door ontop
RDrules
i dont really use it for anything, pretty sure its supposed t be useless and annoying though its just got a facelift on the PC version so i guess it will be on here eventually http://www.minecraftwiki.net/images/9/9a/Gravel.png new texture

Terra Branford
I use Gravel for my "driveway" up to houses... and of course, to fill up lava pools when I forget to bring a bucket of water with me. I have another use for it... but it's kind of crazy. I use it as a "depth gauge" when I'm exploring deep cave systems. What I do, is I place a dirt block against the lip of the steep drop. Then, I place a block of gravel on top of that dirt block. I then place a torch on top of the gravel block. And lastly, I break ONLY the dirt block under the gravel block. I watch closely, as the gravel block falls down to the bottom of the pit, with the torch lighting the way. It's much like dropping glow stones down a pit, to gauge depth while scuba diving. It works pretty well, because if you can't SEE the torchlight after a certain point, you KNOW you're going to fall to your death. ...though, I don't use it as much anymore, now that I carry two buckets of water in my inventory, so I can make water elevators. DecadentBeaver
Me and a mate have got chests full of the stuff. Sometimes I throw it in lava to dispose of it. All the textures I've seen in the PC version look so much better including wood planks. Hope we get these textures soon.
