bLaKgRaVy
** Guide and Roadmap submitted on 5/6/11 COPYRIGHT/RIGHTS OF USE: This achievement guide and roadmap have been written for x360a.org only and may not be used, in part or in whole, by any other person or website without written permission by either the author or website administrators. Roadmap Overview: -Estimated achievement difficulty: 3/10 -Offline: 33/37 (930:gsicon:) -Online: 4/37 (70:gsicon:) -Approximate amount of time to 1000:gsicon:: 5+ hours (for some, it may take 5-10 hours, depending on skill level) -Minimum number of playthroughs needed: 1 for Career mode, you can select Exhibition to boost more Mayhem points if needed -Number of missable achievements: None -Do cheat codes disable achievements?: No codes -Does difficulty affect achievements?: Yes (“Crazy Eddie”) -Glitchy achievements: No, but if you install the game to your hard drive, it disables them -Unobtainable achievements: No -Extra equipment needed?: No Introduction: Welcome to Mayhem 3D. This is a demolition derby/race game that is somewhat enjoyable. The game is broken up into “issues,” and is very comic book oriented. It is a relatively easy 1000:gsicon: with only a few events that are frustrating. All achievements except for one can be unlocked on the Normal difficulty (the lowest difficulty). The online achievements are laughably easy, and all can be unlocked in about 5 minutes, that is if you can find someone to boost with, since the online community for this game is non-existent. Note: If you install the game to your hard drive, this apparently disables the unlocking of achievements. No one knows why, and until the developer releases a patch for this (unlikely), you’ll have to play the game from the CD. Basic Controls: Here are the basic controls: - Reverse/Brake - Accelerate - Select vehicle (Vehicle select screen) - Select vehicle (Vehicle select screen) - Reposition vehicle on track - Pause game - Steering - Rotate camera - Boost - Hand brake - No Use - Toggle camera Career Events & Challenges: There are four different types of events for each issue. There are also four challenges available throughout the career. Events: Demolition Derby – The vehicle with the lowest amount of Mayhem points gets eliminated. Banger Race – Race around the track and try to win first place. Domination – Hit the other vehicles to disable them and push them into the pit before time expires. Racing Elimination – Race around the track and each time the leader crosses the finish line, the last place vehicle gets eliminated. Challenges: Destruction Challenge – Try to destroy as many disabled vehicles before time expires. Rear Rammer Challenge – Same as “Destruction Challenge” but you have to do it in reverse. Part Collector Challenge – Collect as many parts as possible by ramming into vehicles before time expires. Pit Pusher Challenge – Use your vehicle to push the disabled vehicles into the pit before time expires. Step 1: Career Mode By playing Career mode, you can unlock all of the achievements (except “Crazy Eddie,” “Tickets, Please” and the online ones) in one playthrough. Play through the career, attaining a perfect score in each issue (acquiring all the stars in each event). 9 “Perfect Score” achievements 7 “Issue Unlock” achievements 3 “Unlockable” achievements “Loyal Reader” (Complete the career) “Teacher’s Pet” (Get 100% completion on the entire career) 10 Miscellaneous Career achievements Note: The issues get harder as you advance in the career. It's almost as if even though you haven't changed the difficulty setting, the AI gets smarter as you move along in the game, making it more difficult. You will spend a majority of your time in the last two issues. Step 2: Miscellaneous Achievements There are two miscellaneous achievements that cannot be unlocked in Career mode. They are: “Tickets, Please” “Crazy Eddie” (must be done in Exhibition on the Insane difficulty) Step 3: Mop Up Replay any Career event if you still need stars or Mayhem points. Mayhem points can also be earned in Exhibition, but stars have to be acquired in Career. There are 138 total career stars to obtain. Step 4: Online There are four online achievements for 70:gsicon: that can be unlocked (with load times) in about 5 minutes. They are very simple to do and can be done in a private match with a friend. But, since there is really no community for this game, you will probably have to boost these. Search here to boost. Conclusion: Congratulations on another 100%. This is a relatively easy game to maximize your score. The only trouble you might have is finding someone to help you get the online achievements or completing a race or two, but with a little persistence, you’ll get them. In a Domination event, drive around and stun two vehicles (hopefully near each other). Then, push one vehicle into the other vehicle and push them both into the pit. In a Demolition Derby, make sure you have the lowest amount of Mayhem points and are in last place. When the timer winds down and the crossbones appear over your vehicle (showing that you will be eliminated), quickly ram as many vehicles as possible to get yourself out of last place. If done correctly, the achievement unlocks when the new last place vehicle is eliminated. This can be done in Exhibition or Career. http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/achievements/1793/5-5n080=.jpgSpeed Kills - 15http://www.xbox360achievements.org/forum/../images/misc/g-icon.gif KO an opponent with ramming speed (excluding challenge events). Do a Demolition Derby and build your boost up to the maximum, so you achieve ‘Ramming Speed.’ Then, press to boost and ram through at least one opponent vehicle. This can be done in Exhibition or Career, but not during a Challenge event in Career mode. http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/achievements/1793/5-xG2ng=.jpgPile Up - 15http://www.xbox360achievements.org/forum/../images/misc/g-icon.gif Hit 4 opponents with a single ramming speed boost (excluding challenge events). Same as “Speed Kills,” but you have to ram through at least four opponent vehicles in one ramming boost. This is best done in Exhibition on a small track where you can set the amount of opponents to the maximum to give you more of a chance of ramming four vehicles in one boost. Wait for them to gather up at one end of the track and go for it. Alternate method posted by Peace: "It might be easier to get this during a Banger Race instead of a Demolition Derby. Get to Ramming Speed (by crashing into the other cars and picking up boost) and fall back to last place on a straightaway, but stay close to the other cars. Then use the speed boost to ram through four cars from behind." http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/achievements/1793/5-zsGqs=.jpgCrazy Eddie - 30http://www.xbox360achievements.org/forum/../images/misc/g-icon.gif Win an exhibition event at insane difficulty (minimum 7 opponents). From the main menu, choose ‘Exhibition’ then ‘Banger Race’ and choose the first track, ‘The Sidewinder’ (so you can catch up if you are behind). I chose the muscle car “Frenchy” and made the race one lap and changed the opponents’ vehicles to Sedans. Also make sure the difficulty is on “Insane.” You don’t have boost at the beginning (but the opponents’ vehicles do), but at the first turn you should get some by ramming other vehicles. That’s the trick, is to ram other vehicles to get boost to get into first place. Also, make sure you don’t get caught in a pile up or against the wall or anything. If you do, just restart the race. I got this on my second try using these settings. I played it three more times using these settings and won two of the races. There’s no foolproof way to get this one. http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/achievements/1793/5-lO8VI=.jpgRepeat Offender - 20http://www.xbox360achievements.org/forum/../images/misc/g-icon.gif Win 3 games in a single online session. bLaKgRaVy
How do the options work? Do they disable achievements? No, they don't disable achievements. The only one worth anything is the Infinite Boost, but I'll be damned if I know how to turn it on. I've kept selecting it and you would expect to have unlimited boost in every race. Nope. jorax
The under 5 hours on this is complete BS. I've spent at least 2 hours just on the last 2 events I need to 3 star (one of them that damned chapter 8 race). Should be 5-10 for completion IMO. I've spent at least 2 hours just on the last 2 events I need to 3 star (one of them that damned chapter 8 race). Should be 5-10 for completion IMO. I always tack on a couple hours to completion times in these guides. I've learned that the estimated time in the guides should be worded "the fastest it can reasonably be completed." Any rime you have to replay a race or mop up an achievement should be tacked on to that time. That being said, I think I finished this one in about 6-7 hours during the 360voice anniversary challenge. I got stuck on that first race in the parking garage for about an hour, and I had to mop up a couple cheese mints at the end, but otherwise I rarely failed an event. A note on the guide, it is easier to smash 4 cars with one boost from the back of the pack in a race. Trying to do this achievement in a demo derby is a pain. Also, you should discuss changing the difficulty to easy in the roadmap. Otherwise, the guide seems pretty much spot on. Also, you should discuss changing the difficulty to easy in the roadmap. Otherwise, the guide seems pretty much spot on. There's an Easy difficulty? I've only seen Normal, Hard and Insane. I have this line in the roadmap: "All achievements except for one can be unlocked on the Normal difficulty (the lowest difficulty)." Is it needed that I say how to change difficulties? Is that what you're saying? I figured that would be a given if you look at the menus. I know I put the control scheme in the roadmap, but how to change difficulties? I'll post the alternate method for smashing 4 cars with boost. Personally, I did it the first time I tried in demo derby, but I admit, it may not be as easy for others. I also edited the time to: "-Approximate amount of time to 1000http://www.xbox360achievements.org/forum/../images/misc/g-icon.gif: 5+ hours (for some, it may take 5-10 hours, depending on skill level. There are a couple of difficult races.)" As someone said in the Quick 1000's thread, the time to complete it isn't necessarily based on skill. Someone said that they have very little racing game skill (as do I) and completed it in 4 hours. I am personally at around 4 hours in and have 3 races left to do (the Parking Garage one and two in Issue 9). I tried the parking garage twice and said the hell with it; it was too frustrating. I'll get a friend of mine who plays racing games to help me. Any other questions or comments, feel free to post!
Daniel55645
this game was actually really easy. i wasnt looking forward to issue 9 and 10 since you said they would be hard. passed every even 3 star on first try. took a total of 2hrs and 6 min to get the full 1000 on. and it was actually a fun game too
redlight racer
An easy way to get the Crazy Eddie achievement is to set up a Demo derby on any track (I used Pillbox), then set it to 7 opponents in Coupes, and get in a Truck like "Sir Plus" (Not a monster truck). Set it to Insane with BOOST "Off" and "Normal" Damage. They never stood a chance, and barely even hurt my truck in the entire race. I am not sure if this is faster then the method mentioned in the guide, as I never tried that method. It is very easy to do though, and i can't see anyone losing in it so long as boost is off. Maka
I disagree with the "5+ hour" estimate. I completed from start to finish in about 3-4 hours, and had a friend complete it in about 4 hours. My game time once I completed the game was 2h20m, and I only had to do 2 races more than once. I realize that maybe I was faster than average, but there's no way it should take 10 hours. In my opinion, the time to 1000 should be: 3-8 hours (assuming some people actually need more than 6 or 7 hours).

Maybe for someone who doesn't like racing games and are terrible at them (like myself), it'll take longer than 5 hours. I've worked on it for about 4.5 hours and I still have three races to complete, so I figure I have at least another 1.5 hours left. And since there's no "3-8 Hour" timeslot in the Quick and Easy 1000's List, would they put it in Under 5 Hours or 5-10 Hours? Like I said in the roadmap, some people may be able to do it in under 5 hours, others it will take longer. It's an average (see above and below quotes), not one or two people's time to complete it. There's been considerable discussion on it in the Quick and Easy 1000's thread and it's staying as it is despite being in the Under 5 Hours section. Also, the game clock doesn't correspond to actual time played (see vithzeral's quote below)... I think that mayhem 3d is fair under the 5-10 time frame as many races might be difficult for some later on. Some could do it under 5, but to be fair to the casual gamer put it in 5-10. I agree 5-10. I think other people are judging by the game clock which not only doesn't count menu time, but also seems not to count properly when you replay an event (I think it is only counting the last time through). My game clock was saying 56min after I definitely played for 2 hours. Even if you finish every career race at the first attempt you still need 100,000 points. I haven't found any way to make more than 20,000 per hour; unless there is some way to boost it online. Lastly there is online. You better have a boosting partner lined up because without one getting 5 wins in one session will take several hours of waiting. took me 3.5 hours Mayhem 3d is going to stay as well , though I should put a B next to it as well for the online achievements. And mayhem took me 3-3.5hrs aswell so definitely an under 5hr game and im not all that great at racers. Mayhem 3d will take more than 5 hours for most people. Given there is one stage, even on easy, that will likely take you 20 plus attempts. Also ramming 4 cars in one boost is somewhat challenging! The two achievements are highly based on luck! Now if you happen to beat this level magically on your first try, then itd be under five hours I don't think it's really all that luck based although the last level can be a little frustrating. While some may take more than 5 hours, I think most will finish under 5 hours if they stick with it. Edited March 1, 2012 by bLaKgRaVy

PsiScream
I'm apparently in the minority but I've put 7-8 hours into the game so far and still need to 3-star the parking garage, a couple in episode 9, and the online achievements. I've replayed some events dozens of times, and can easily see this being 10 hours or more.
