Wehttam
I noticed that the gears of war for windows achievement guide is not entirely accurate for the game and is a direct copy and paste of the 360 version, so here i have used aPerfektFIaw's guide and made a few changes to make it more appropriate for the windows version. I hope this is ok, if there are any errors please let me know and i will update it. Gears of war for windows can be played using either a keyboard and mouse or using the xbox 360 wired controller via usb or a wireless controller with a crossfire wireless receiver and so i will include controls for both in the weapon achievements. Wehttam
Boss Achievements: My Love for You Is Like a Truck Defeat a Berserker on Hardcore Difficulty You will find the Berserker in the final chapter on Act 1 called "China Town." You must defeat her by leading her outside and using the Hammer of Dawn on her. Hit her with it twice to obtain the achievement. Also note that this must be done on Hardcore difficulty to count. The berserker in Act 5 may be easier to kill as it can be killed just be shooting the propane tank and disconnecting the carriages. Broken Fingers Defeat a Corpser on Hardcore Difficulty You will find the Corpser in the final chapter on Act 3. To defeat it, you must wait until it lifts its legs. Once it does, shoot it in the stomach to make it open its mouth, and start blasting away at its face. He will eventually back up onto a platform. There are two metal releases on the front, stand on them and have the Corpser attack you with its legs then back up out of the way so it breaks. Repeat for the second release and the Corpser will sink into the lava, killing him. Please note that this must be done on Hardcore difficulty. A Dish Best Served Cold Defeat General RAAM on Hardcore Difficulty One strategy is to hide behind the wall and use the longshot to headshot RAAM to take down his life, this will require quite a few headshots to do and he will move closer towards you. When he comes close, move forward to another area making sure you stay in the lit areas. The boomshot and torque bow are both very good as well just make sure his shield of kryll has moved before firing. This must be done on Hardcore difficulty. Here is a link to a thread with some tips on defeating General RAAM:http://www.xbox360achievements.org/f...ad.php?t=12310 Zen and the Art of Reloading Perform 25 perfect active reloads (on any difficulty) Mastering the perfect active reload is not a difficult task. You must press reload ( http://www.xbox360achievements.org/forum/../images/misc/rb.pngon the 360 controller, R key on the keyboard) once to start the meter, and press it again once the needle hits the white area. Do this 25 time during the course of the game for the achievement. Zen and the Art Part 2 Perform 5 perfect active reloads in a row (on any difficulty) This isn't too difficult but doing it perfectly 5 times in a row can be tricky. Stand still in a clear area and shoot one bullet off, then keep trying to do this. Once you hit it 5 times in a row, you'll get this achievement. Clusterluck Kill 3 enemies at once 10 different times (on any difficulty) Killing 3 enemies at one time will only involve a grenade or a rocket. Start the game's campaign on Casual. In the prison when you reach the door that the locust have to cut down to get through, hide behind the wall. Right before they break through throw a grenade so it kills all 3 of them. If it doesn't just reload the last checkpoint. If it does, run outside and get yourself killed and reload the last checkpoint then repeat. If you try to reload the last checkpoint through the pause menu instead of getting killed, it won't count. Do this 10 times. This also may be easier to boost with 3 people standing close together and using a grenade to kill all three. Co-op Achievements: Dom-curious Complete 1 co-op chapter as Dominic Santiago on any difficulty In order to play as Dom in co-op you must join someone's game. If you host it you will play as Marcus. Just complete 1 chapter and this achievement is all yours. Domination Complete 10 different co-op chapters as Dominic Santiago on any difficulty In order to play as Dom in co-op you must join someone's game. If you host it you will play as Marcus. Complete 10 chapters in total to receive this achievement. I Can't Quit You Dom Complete all acts in co-op as Dominic Santiago on any difficulty In order to play as Dom in co-op you must JOIN someone's game. If you host it you will play as Marcus. Complete all chapters in all Acts to receive this achievement. Not So Serious ... Kill 10,000 people in versus player match total To do this achievement you will have to kill 10,000 players in versus player matches, this achievement will take time and will come eventually if you keep working at it. On the way you should be able to obtain all of the weapon achievements, this achievement is exclusive to the pc version of gears of war and if you are going for the full 1000 points you will have to kill at least 20,000 people (not so serious and seriously). Weapon Achievements Please Note: The weapon achievements are different in gears of war for windows because instead of just killing 100 people as you would do in the 360 version you have to have played 100 matches player or ranked (360 is only in ranked) and in each match have at least one kill with the weapon/headshot/revive. Kills in Annex and King of the Hill will count towards all the weapon achievements and the not so serious and Seriously achievements (unlike the console version). Don't You Die On Me Revive a teammate in 100 multiplayer (Player or Ranked) matches of 3+ rounds Play 100 matches of 3 or more rounds and revive at least one team-mate in each. If a team-mate in a versus match goes down you will know by an indicator on the screen with a red arrow pointing in their general direction. Stand next to the player and press http://www.xbox360achievements.org/forum/../images/misc/x.png on the xbox 360 controller or the E key on the keyboard to revive them. Fall Down Go Boom Kill an enemy with the Boomshot in 100 multiplayer (Player or Ranked) matches of 3+ rounds Play 100 matches of 3 or more rounds and get at least one boomshot kill in each. Pistolero Kill an enemy with a pistol in 100 multiplayer (Player or Ranked) matches of 3+ rounds Play 100 matches of 3 or more rounds and get at least one pistol kill in each. The Nuge Kill an enemy with the Torque Bow in 100 multiplayer (Player or Ranked) matches of 3+ rounds Play 100 matches of 3 or more rounds and get at least one torque bow kill in each. I Spy with My Little Eye Kill an enemy with the Longshot in 100 multiplayer (Player or Ranked) matches of 3+ rounds Play 100 matches of 3 or more rounds and get at least one longshot sniper rifle kill in each. Don't Hurt 'Em Kill an enemy with the Hammer of Dawn in 100 multiplayer (Player or Ranked) matches of 3+ rounds Play 100 matches of 3 or more rounds and get at least one hammer of dawn kill in each. It's a Massacre Kill an enemy with the Chainsaw in 100 multiplayer (Player or Ranked) matches of 3+ rounds Play 100 matches of 3 or more rounds and get at least one chainsaw kill in each. To use the chainsaw press http://www.xbox360achievements.org/forum/../images/misc/b.png on the xbox 360 controller or the F key on the keyboard. Curb Appeal Kill an enemy with a curb stomp in 100 multiplayer (Player or Ranked) matches of 3+ rounds Play 100 matches of 3 or more rounds and get at least one curbstomp kill in each. The curbstomp can be performed when enemies are down but not out on the ground, run up to them and press http://www.xbox360achievements.org/forum/../images/misc/x.png to perform the curbstomp with the xbox 360 controller or the E key on the keyboard. Capital Punishment Kill an enemy with an execution in 100 multiplayer (Player or Ranked) matches of 3+ rounds Play 100 matches of 3 or more rounds and get at least one execution kill in each. An execution can be performed by going up to a player who is down but not out and shooting them at close range with any weapon or meleeing them with the http://www.xbox360achievements.org/forum/../images/misc/b.png button on the xbox 360 controller or pressing F key on the keyboard, the melee has to be performed with any weapon other than the lancer or frag grenades. Is It a Spider? Kill an enemy with a grenade tag in 100 multiplayer (Player or Ranked) matches of 3+ rounds Play 100 matches of 3 or more rounds and get at least one grenade tag kill in each. A grenade tag is performed by having frag grenades equipped and pressing the http://www.xbox360achievements.org/forum/../images/misc/b.png button on the xbox 360 controller or the F key on the keyboard at close range to tag an enemy, if an enemy tags you, you can run at them to take them with you and this will count as a tag for you. The Money Shot Kill an enemy with a headshot in 100 multiplayer (Player or Ranked) matches of 3+ rounds Play 100 matches of 3 or more rounds and get at least one headshot kill in each. A headshot can be performed by aiming at the enemies head and shooting them with either the longshot sniper rifle, the pistol or the shotgun. Wehttam
Ranked Match Achievements: Please Note: To start a ranked match at least 6 players are required and other members can join your lobby without you being able to kick them so if you are planning to boost these achievements make sure you have 6 or 8 people willing to boost and start before any others join. Always Remember Your First Finish playing a versus ranked match Start up a ranked match and finish it. Don't Hate the Player Finish with the highest points in a ranked match Come first in the points ranking in a ranked match, kills, revives, downs and objectives will get you more points. Mix It Up Win a ranked match in every versus game type Your team must win the match in order for this to count, you do not have to have the high score. Can't Touch Me Win 10 ranked matches without losing a round Your team must win the match in order for this to count, you do not have to have the high score. Win 10 games without losing a single round over your career for the achievement. This is not ten games in a row, just ten games in total where you have lost no rounds. Here is a list of the maps needed: - War Machine - Mausoleum - Escalation - Clock Tower - Fuel Depot - Rooftops - Canals - Gridlock - Mansion - Tyro Station - Old Bones - Raven Down - Garden - Subway - Bullet Marsh - Process - Courtyard - Sanctuary - Gold Rush Seriously ... Kill 10,000 people in versus ranked match total Just as the description says. If you love this game and play it all the time, you will eventually receive this achievement. Probably the most time consuming achievement, and more than likely the last one you will receive out of all the online versus achievements. Secret Achievement: Shock Therapy Defeat a Brumak on Hardcore Difficulty This is the secret achievement exclusive to the pc version and can be obtained in the last chapter of act 4, simply kill the brumak on the hardcore difficulty. eXiled Killah
You're right about that direct copy and paste without addressing some issues that directly affect the PC version. I've been looking around here regarding the some of the weapon acheivements. As they can be done in player matches, does anyone know if the matches MUST be 3v3? Remember this is the PC version, not the 360 version.
Wehttam
Im pretty sure it doenst matter how many players you have on each team because i have played games where it has started or ended with less than 6 or 8 and still unlocked some of the weapon achievements. I can say for a fact that for "mix it up" i started a ranked match with 8 players and in the end there were only 3 or 4 left and it still counted towards the achievement as i unlocked it after the match. GonzoMaster
It doesn't matter how many people are in the game, it could be 1v1 and you will still get the weapon achievement. Also Annex counts on the pc, i got my hammer of dawn achievement after a annex match.
Creech
I made the thread a sticky, but a couple of suggestions for you... You might make it more clear which parts are different for the PC version, as right now they don't particularly stand out. I would have a big section, perhaps bolded, larger font, something like that, about the weapon achievements. This is the single issue that causes the most grief for people, so point it out in a super obvious way. Make it very clear that the Seriously and Not So Seriously can both be done in KOTH or Annex, which makes them much more achievable than they would be on the console, which doesn't count kills when you respawn. Clusterluck is actually easiest in a player match, have three people stand together and tag one of them, rinse and repeat.

No its not, if you actually read the guide you would know there are differences and if you compared the two lists you can see some achievements exist for 360 which don't for pc and vice versa. Make it very clear that the Seriously and Not So Seriously can both be done in KOTH or Annex, which makes them much more achievable than they would be on the console, which doesn't count kills when you respawn. Can someone confirm, with 100% certainty, that RANKED Annex games count towards Seriously, AND that PLAYER Annex games count towards Not So Seriously? The guide does not specifically say it, hence the double-check. I just started the PC version today (finally got my PC up to spec), and do not want to waste 10,000 kills in Player or Ranked just to find out someone was mistaken when they posted... Thanks. Achiever TM
after i beat the campain in hardcore i was helping a friend playing coop and I noticed that i had no cog tags, after we finish act 1 i went to the menu and checked if it was just in coop that i had no cog tags or if I had loose my save. so what i saw was disapointing since i had loose my campain save. i could only replay mission 1 and 2. my question is: do this mean that i lost all my kills in private matches?or do the game keep trackin even if i lost my save (idk if it was just the campain or everything in the game)? I had +2.000 kills. sorry for double posting, but if I edited my last post no one would ever read this.
Wehttam
Achiever, i think that you should not have lost your kills. Im not sure on it, but i would imagine that the kills are saved on their servers or something as otherwise i could see people editing the data on their own computers and unlocking the kill achievements. Owen H Brown
This same bug hit me on 360, right on the last level on Insane. I hope to God it does not happen now for my PC version. I think I made it happen on 360 by playing co-op. I won't be playing co-op until I play through my PC version entirely on insane first.
