Zenth Forbias
Really? It took you JUST now to realize that this wasn't your normal Castlevania game? Geez. Seriously, I'm sick of the Castlevania "purists" that bitch and complain about this game and are all "All the 3D Castlevania's have sucked." When you think about it, Castlevania has pretty much ALWAYS played like this, just from a 2D side scrolling angle. I find this game glorious. One down fall is no Dracula (as far as I can tell). Perhaps in a sequel.
Link Highwind
It's also in 3D. Anyone else want to state the obvious? The main character is a Belmont. Does that count as obvious?
Zomaarch
It plays mostly similar to the other 3D Castlevania's, more like lament of innocense with an experience system, good graphics, and a Belmont back into the story. (sort of like the other Castlvania games we're used to playing) Personally I've always liked the Castlevania series (minus Judgement because i don't have a Wii, but we all know it sucks lets try to forget that garbage game) even the 3d ones I didn't find all that bad, but we're not as good as the 2D CV games which were a treasure. Recieved this game today, and I like it so far.
Azuto
2D and 3D games never have the same feel, its just not possible... That being said, let me ask the OP this. Did you mean it doesn't feel like any of the 3D Castlevania? If you meant that, than your topic could have a valid point, if you're trying to compare a 2D to a 3D though, you're just a moron. Now if they actually intertwine him into the story its gonna rock. Edited October 6, 2010 by Eclipsed-Blade Info.

Kevinsyel
Main character may be a "Belmont" but he's not a descendant of Leon Belmont. IIRC correctly, this game is placed about 100 years before Lament of Innocence. Gabriel was orphaned at the steps of the Order of Light, and was taken in, and they surnamed him Belmont for his love of "high places" I saw names thrown around like "Methias Cronqvist (Dracula)" and "Renaldo Gandolfi (Alchemist who created the Vampire Killer)" who were also the main characters of Lament of Innocence. Yet this story is not in canon with any other Castlevania, it's a complete reboot to the story. So I have yet to determine how they will continue with this one
Mikesahhh
yeah theres no way they could make 2d and 3d games to feel the same

sledge
What a bunch of bs saying it's not possible for a series to transition from 2D to th 3D. It's been done with ton's of series. Some games may take longer to get the actual feel of the old game that's all.
ArkAngel
someone should make God of war into a 2d Sidescroller.. LMAO That being said... As I delve deeper into this game I am really getting a Simon's Quest feel to it... lots of hidden secrets...

Darth Cuda
someone should make God of war into a 2d Sidescroller.. LMAO That being said... As I delve deeper into this game I am really getting a Simon's Quest feel to it... lots of hidden secrets... Look it up someone did; it just sucked so bad (according to sources) everyone forgot about it. Everyone needs to back off of OP. Its a thread stating they are different from all others not that it sucks. Also he didn't say its because its 3D either. I noticed its different from even LOI. I haven't played it myself other than to help my wife with some puzzles but it plays differently. Devil may Cry feels more like Castlevania. That being said the game doesn't suck, from what I've observed, it seems really good. That it isn't because its 3D. It's because The game looks amazing and controls seem adequate; story is probably good but I haven't seen enough to comment. Its nice to see a Belmont again but I still like SOTN the bestn not because its 2D its because Alucard is just awesome. If you really want to get technical this game isn't truly 3D. That term has taken on a whole new form (although it isn't actually "new") that's another topic all together. honkyjesusownsu
That's the least of the game's problems. The probs is that is meshed together a bunch of different games and did it badly. Again, I have no idea what anyone sees in this title other than trying to say a purchase was worth it. I rented it, terrible rental and not worth five bucks. Looking at your achievements for it you only played it slightly... the game is huge and gets a lot more interesting the further you get into the story.. the levels are small but detailed and beautiful.. and as you get further into the game you see a lot of things from the past games. You know what, I cant talk shit on you cause I did the same thing you are doing to this game but only to mass effect. I played it for about 10 minutes, wasnt really impressed and then was like, how the hell do you throw grenades? Select? WTF, this game has to be retarded. lol So ya, you have to actually get far enough into the game to give it a chance before you judge it. This game gets awesome a couple hours in. beezee_boi
I hope they make more of these games. As far as feeling like the same game umm it doesn't have to in order to be good. Gears 1 doesn't feel like Gears 2. There's a lot of games that change feel just to be different make it more exciting. I'm happy that they made this game I'm happy that I bought it and I'm going to enjoy the many many hours that it's going to suck out of my life. Akka
Reminds me a lot of Super Castlevania IV which is my favorite one. I'm perfectly happy. I am glad it wasn't another MetroidVania. I love those too, but I am glad this one wasn't like those.

I got through Chapter 4, I don't play games or watch movies I don't dig after a bit. I especially don't play games when people say "it gets better", that's what users told me about Two Worlds. As far as the story I have no clue, I never paid attention to it (same thing when my daughter is watching Hannah Montana). It's great for the people here who love the game, it's just a little obvious the game is a God of War clone and really doesn't have anything to do with Castlevania. Tack on bad platforming and really hard to see action on any TV size, that's a pretty bad attempt by developers imo.

I played it four or five hours, I believe. Is it one of those games that changes into an altogether different one? At some point it abandons being God of War Lords of Shadow of the Colossus? If I told you that you have to play a bad game a certain amount of time before knowing you just wasted more time would you? Comparing this to ME is like comparing a turd to a mansion, and I thought the first ME really left something to be desired, and that desire came to fruition in ME 2.
