I hope this does stay faithful to the books!

Would love this to be in the style of Elder Scrolls, but with Cyanide Studios behind this I think it may disappoint. The totally got the RTS PC game wrong and I just don think they have enough experience to do this game. Shame a well developed studio didn't pick up this license.

If you take a look at the screenshots they seem pretty good, Skyrim quality actually.

I agree, I thoroughly enjoyed (devoured) those books;) I am a bit skeptical about the game though. Either way, I'll play it, I just hope they do the books justice. Seems like crossovers always disappoint (besides Batman, obviously) *fingers crossed*

There series is doing the books justice IMO, excellent series so far, cant wait for series 2.

It really needs to incorporate the political aspects as well. It could well be an epic game, but then so should of the Lord of the Rings games (imo only the RTS ones on PC did any justice to the license).

Am glad the main character is not one from the books/series and Martin is 'overseeing' the story of the game. It looks more promising with the publisher Atlus involved as well. I really want this to be a great game, you would have thought the developers would have played the market leaders in the western RPGs (Oblivion, Dragon Age) and thought 'yeah something like this'!!

Cyanide has been developing this game for more than two years, longer than any other game they've ever worked on. Additionally, they have a lot of other games to draw inspiration from on it.

I have relatively high hopes. But the story runs parallel to Game of Thrones, so I don't really anticipate a story anywhere near the level of the novel.

My hopes for the game is solid and fun gameplay, and an ability to quest in Westeros as a back drop. If it delivers there, I'll be happy.

The graphics looks snazzy. That's right, I said it. "snazzy".

It is definitely an RPG, the RTS game is already out on PC it is called "Game of Thrones - Genesis" and isn't all that good. Both made by Cyanide but from what I have seen and heard of the rpg (simply titled "Game of Thrones") it will be alot better for fans of the "Song of Ice and Fire" series than Genesis is.

HERE is a link to the official website of the game, and HERE is a link to the forums that contain little bits of info for those that are interested. Actually I will some info here from those forums just to make it easier for people on these forums;

The game will follow two characters through events in Westeros, roughly occurring simultaneously with the events of the first season. The first character is Mors Westford, a sworn brother of the Night's Watch who is serving on the Wall with his faithful dog. The second is Alester Sarwyck, a nobleman from the south who has spent years in exile in Essos and become a priest of R'hllor. He is summoned home to Springwater Castle by the death of his father and an attempt by one of his bastards to claim the castle. Whilst their stories are separated by thousands of miles, they will eventually have an impact on one another.

Characters known to appear in the computer game include Cersei Lannister, Varys and Lord Commander Jeor Mormont. Locations will include Castle Black and King's Landing.

Hi,

Here are some answers :

- How much playing time is there? (as I know there are 3 characters)

There are two main characters, Mors and Alester. The playing time depends on how you like to play because there is a lot of sides quests. The main quest is quite long. :)

- When in time does this game take place compared to the series?

The game takes place during the first book, before the clash of kings.

- Is their any decision taking i.e. If i choose one decision it will impact the rest of the storyline e.g. I can choose to kill the man or I can choose not too or There is a target that I need maybe information from How do I ask for it or how do I enter a house: from behind? The window? Front door?

Yes, it's a real RPG, so you can make some decision that will impact the rest of the story, even a lot of chapters later!

- Is there character customization?

- Are the characters we can choose characters we know? and do each of them have a different special power?

You can customize both of the main characters. You can choose a class, specialisations, equipment, personality traits, etc.

- Will there be multiplayer?

No multiplayer for the moment. :)

As for release date;

We aim at a release date before the launch of season 2. The official release date should come soon :).

So hopefully a bit before April.

Sorry for the double post, just thought it would be easier to put this chunk of text by itself;

Focus Home Interactive will publish in Europe "Game of Thrones", the RPG based on the bestseller series of novels by George R.R. Martin, which has recently been adapted into a TV series by HBO.

Focus Home Interactive and Cyanide Studio are pleased to announce, with fresh images, the publishing agreement for the role-playing game "Game of Thrones" in Europe, on PlayStation® 3, Xbox 360® and PC.

"Game of Thrones" is a big role playing game based on the famous series of novels by George R.R. Martin, which has already sold over 15 millions unit around the world, and which HBO has recently adapted into a critically-praised TV series. This is the most ambitious project of Cyanide Studio. Developed on Unreal Engine 3 and written under the supervision of George R.R. Martin, "Game of Thrones" will allow fans of the series, and more generally adepts of role-playing games, to live an exceptional adventure in one of the most finely-worked universe from the medieval fantasy literature.

"Cyanide realized a truly admirable work on Game of Thrones. The game is faithful to the unique ambiance found in George R.R. Martin's novels" declares Cédric Lagarrigue, CEO of Focus Home Interactive. "The narration, the artistic direction, the pace of the game and its realization makes it one of the most exciting role-playing games to come in 2012."

Along the 30 hours of gameplay offered by "Game of Thrones", play as Mors, sworn brother of the Night's Watch, and Alester, a Red Priest in search of redemption who is back to Westeros after a long exile. The Hand of King Robert Baratheon has just passed away, and these two charismatic heroes will find themselves dragged in a grand quest that will lead them through familiar and gorgeous places of Westeros, such like the Wall and its region, or the famous King’s Landing. In this grand adventure, they will meet famous faces: Queen Cersei, Varys the Spider or Jeor Mormont, the Lord Commander of the Night’s Watch faithfully reproduced from the TV series.

In "Game of Thrones", you will choose the class of your characters, find your fighting style, reach a good balance between your strengths and weaknesses, and get ready for epic battles! Find, buy or loot new equipment and weapons to fit your approach of the fights, and gain experience to improve your skills or learn new ones. Slow the time down during battle to analyze the situation and choose your next moves.

In game of thrones, political skills can be as lethal as a sharpen sword, so never underestimate the power of a silver tongue to solve a critical situation!

While the game will soon be unveiled more to media and the public through video trailers, in-depth presentations and numerous screenshots, discover today 3 exclusive images of the game, unveiling a bit more the heroes and the ambiance of this exceptional role-playing game, planned for release early 2012 on PS3, Xbox 360 and PC.

This hopefully clears up some of the many questions we all have about this game. It will be a definite day one buy for me, and I am eagerly hoping for an announcement of a collectors edition, but won't hold my breath.

I have to admit that I'm probably not getting this game on release... giving it some time ATM to see how the reviews will be, if the controls will be tolerable, and if there are going to be any weird game breaking glitches in it.

With the sort of people overseeing the creation of the game, I don't think it's going to be awful, but I tend to be wary of all book/movie inspired games nowadays.

Still a bit thin on the details at the minute. Will be a day one purchase still but I would like to know what were getting (linear or open world).

I noticed they mentioned the politics in there. Hopefully anything similar and up over from a paragon/renegade style system like in Mass Effect would be nice.

Could be decent potential for the abilities, for anyone who's read the books and knows what the red priests can do and certain warg abilities for the nights watch guy!!!

I doubt it will be open world, only because they said the game offers 30 hours of gameplay. That doesn't sound like much for an open world RPG. We can still hope though :D

I think that there will be a good/evil system, since there are choices to be made that affect the story. That being said, Skyrim also has choices that affect the story but no good/evil system. Only time will tell I guess.

Warg abilities would be awesome, and quite frankly, I will be massively shocked if they just make the Black Brother a normal fighter. Oh shit I just realized something. In this game you can play as a Black Brother and kill Wights. I hope that was not intentional...

Back on topic, the red priests abilities would be interesting to see in a game. What will be put in and what will be left out? Will you be able to ressurect people or see the future? Will you be able to disguise yourself and use poisons and potions? Or will it all depend on which class you choose? Too many Q's not enough A's haha

Has anyone else checked out the video of the gameplay/combat?

Looks.... ok ish at the moment, good environments but man does combat look poor, it needs to happen a little faster than what is on there and the animations when striking need to be improved. That being said, with a good narrative, this could be a decent game. Looks like Dragon Age which is defo no bad thing.
