Introduction

Angry Birds Space is just like every other Angry Birds game on the market. You use a slingshot to fire the birds across the level with the goal of defeating the well-fortified pigs. The game does differentiate itself from the original as it takes place entirely in outer space and involves launching the birds in zero gravity or into/through gravitational fields. There are a few new bird types, but otherwise the game plays and feels the same. There is around 150 levels to play, split across six different worlds. Currently the game is listed at $0.99 in the Windows Phone Store.

Step 1: Play until you earn 250 stars

Play through the game until your reach 250 stars. To make this go quickly, use 3-star video walkthroughs. If you can't get 3-stars on a particular level, just move on. You should also progress at least until level 5-19, as this will give you access to all the best levels for grinding some of the later achievements.

Step 2: Mop-up miscellaneous achievements

After finishing Step 1, mop-up any of the miscellaneous achievements you have left, which are those that require you to only complete a small task once in any level.

Step 3: Grind remaining cumulative achievements

After Steps 1 and 2, you will have many many hours of grinding left to earn the remaining achievements, the worst of which involves destroying a mind-numbing 500,000 blocks.

Conclusion

Angry Birds Space is nothing more than a boring grind to complete. There is no thinkable reason to have an achievement for destroying 500k blocks, something that will take upwards of 50+ hours to do when grinding, and probably 200+ hours to do if playing naturally. With that said, the other 190http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/site/gp-g.png can be earned in about 10-15 hours (plus some unattended idling time).

GUIDE

MISCELLANEOUS ACHIEVEMENTS (5 for 50 http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/site/gp-g.png)

The following 5 achievements are obtained by completing one-time miscellaneous tasks within the game.

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/achievements/2517/+z83IA==.jpg Name Popper - 10 http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/site/gp-g.png

Pop all name bubbles in the credits

From the Main Menu, click the Options button in the lower left corner (icon is a gear) and then click in "i" icon to bring up the credits. All you have to do is tap every name bubble in the entire credits to unlock the achievement. You can manually scroll the credits to make it go faster. The small vegetable bubbles can be ignored.

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/achievements/2517/-p3c2Q==.jpg Centripedal Force - 10 http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/site/gp-g.png

Shoot a bird into a Lagrangian point

A Lagrangian point is basically a spot in space that has gravitational fields acting on it equally in such a way that there is no net force. Basically it is a place that you can shoot the bird that it will get stuck in two overlapping gravitational fields. You will most certainly get this without even trying while collecting all the stars.

A good spot to earn this is Level 1-10. Just fire the bird as slow as you can right down the middle and it should get stuck. It will take a few tries to get the speed slow enough and the angle perfect. Thanks to I Spiritus I from TA for this method.

Freeze 3 pigs with one ice bird

Ice birds are light blue in color and freeze everything around them when they explode. This achievement is most easily earned on Level 2-23. Fire your first bird (ice bird) to the large tower containing 6 pigs, arching him through the gravitational fields. Just before he lands, tap the screen to explode the bird, freezing the pigs in the area. You should have no problem getting three or more pigs with a well-placed shot.

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/achievements/2517/UPuPgrc=.jpg Big Spook - 10 http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/site/gp-g.png

Make 6 pigs scared with one green bird

This achievement is quite tricky as the range on the green bird's scream which scares the pigs is not that large, meaning you have to use it very close to all 6 pigs to be able to unlock this achievement. The best level to earn this on is Level 5-3. Aim the green bird at about the second level from the bottom, and tap to release the screen just before you hit it. If done correctly, you will unlock the achievement right away. Thanks to zszaiss for this method!

Alternative Method: Level 2-18. Use your first green bird to knock some of the stone blocks off the top of the largest, middle tower. They need to fall in such a way that none of the pigs are killed. Then, with your second green bird, basically just fire it the same location so that it arcs in between the middle tower and the farthest tower (the stones you knocked down with the first shot makes this possible). Right before he makes any impact and you are near the two groups of 3 pigs, tap the screen to make the bird scream. Thanks to DarkxMaterials on TA for this method.

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/achievements/2517/UPpveiQ=.jpg Banging Heads - 10 http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/site/gp-g.png

Pop pig with another pig

This achievement unlocks when one pig falls into another pig and pops it. You will definitely unlock this achievement without even trying when going for 250 stars.

CUMULATIVE (GRINDING) ACHIEVEMENTS (15 for 150 http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/site/gp-g.png)

The following 15 achievements are obtained by completing cumulative miscellaneous requirements within the game. All of your attempts of all the game's levels count towards these achievements. Unfortunately, there is no way to track your progress towards any of them. Just keep grinding until they unlock.

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/achievements/2517/-5vBYg==.jpg Pig Popper - 10 http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/site/gp-g.png

Pop 1000 pigs

Just pop (destroy) 1000 pigs. This will come while completing the rest of the achievements, so do not worry too much about this one.

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/achievements/2517/-ns58Q==.jpg Bubble popper - 10 http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/site/gp-g.png

Pop 1000 bubbles

All bubbles in the game count towards this achievement, including the ones that contain vegetables, TNT, and pigs. This will most likely need a bit of grinding. The best level to complete this on is Level 1-26. There are 9 bubbles to pop and they can all be destroyed with a single, well-placed shot. See the video below for the technique. Thanks to Gamespot for the video.

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/achievements/2517/UPwMYPs=.jpg Bird Launcher - 10 http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/site/gp-g.png

Launch 5000 birds

This will most definitely come before you destroy 500k blocks, but if you wish to get this out of the way earlier, load up Level 4-30. This level has 7 birds to launch, the most in the game. Launch all the birds in rapid succession. As soon as your last bird leaves the slingshot, pause and restart the level and repeat the process until the achievement unlocks. This method will take around 2-3 hours to launch all 5000 birds.

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/achievements/2517/+PaNpA==.jpg Starman - 10 http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/site/gp-g.png

Get 250 stars

Earning stars is solely related to how much score you earn. Score is earned for destroying objects, popping pigs, and completing the level with unused birds. Most of the time, earning 3-stars just requires a few well-placed shots and a bit of luck. Use Youtube to find videos to help you easily earn 3-stars on the levels. You only need to get 250 out of the 450 in the game for the achievements. If you get stumped or can't make the perfect shot on a level, just move on. No big deal. See the video below by NextGenWalkthroughs for the the first 60 levels of the game.

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/achievements/2517/UP3smGg=.jpg Pigsicle - 10 http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/site/gp-g.png

Freeze 500 pigs

You can freeze pigs in two ways. 1) Gently popping a pig's bubble that is in space and 2) Using the ice bird's explosion. #2 is the only one that counts towards this achievement and is easy to grind. This achievement is most easily earned on Level 2-23. Fire the your first bird (ice bird) to the large tower containing 6 pigs, arching him through the gravitational fields. Just before he lands, tap the screen to explode the bird, freezing the pigs in the area. You should have no problem getting three or more pigs with a well-placed shot. As soon as you freeze the pigs with the ice bird, restart the level and repeat the process until this unlocks. This should take 15 minutes or less to grind all 500.

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/achievements/2517/UP4taU4=.jpg Gravitational Escape - 10 http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/site/gp-g.png

Make 100 birds exit atmosphere.

You just need to launch 100 birds out of a planet's atmosphere and have it fly off into space. You can either launch the bird from within the atmosphere, or just make it pass through the atmosphere before returning to space. This achievement should unlock easily while progressing through the game. However, it can also be quickly boosted on Level 1-19 in less than 10 minutes by rapidly firing all three birds to the left out of the atmosphere, restarting, and then repeating the process.

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/achievements/2517/UPhOc5E=.jpg Menu Popper - 10 http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/site/gp-g.png

Pop 100 pigs in the main menu

In the Main Menu (the one that says "Angry Birds Space"), interactive bubbled pigs will fly by fairly frequently. You need to pop 100 of these to unlock the achievement by tapping them. Just keep popping for 5 or 10 minutes to unlock this achievement. You only need to pop the bubbles. You do not need to tap the frozen pigs again to shatter them.

See "Space Bird Addict."

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/achievements/2517/+teEEQ==.jpg Space Bird Addict - 10 http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/site/gp-g.png

Play Angry Birds Space for 30 hours

You will without doubt get these three achievements when grinding towards destroying 500k blocks. All time in the game seems to count towards the achievement.

If you just want to earn these achievements with as little effort as possible, there does exist a simpler method. You can disable your screen timeout (Settings>Lockscreen>Screen Timeout>Never) and leave the game running unattended while in a level for long periods of time with the phone plugged in. Make sure when you are done to complete the level by passing or failing to save your time. NOTE: This trick is not possible on all devices (screen timeout will be limited to 5 minutes). For those of you that cannot disable your screen timeout, you will need to grind this the old-fashioned way. Load up a level and let it sit while you do something else, making sure to tap the screen periodically before your timeout limit is reached. Just be sure to complete or fail the level when you are done grinding for the time being in order to save your accumulated time.

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/achievements/2517/-30kSg==.jpg Woodpecker - 10 http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/site/gp-g.png

Smash 5000 wooden blocks

This will most likely be the first block related achievement you earn as wood is probably the most common material in the game and can be broken by most birds. A good level to boost this on is Level 1-19. Just fire the fire bomb bird to destroy the most wood blocks as possible. Detonate it when you think your are in the best position. Pause and restart the level after the dust settles on your first shot. You can earn around 10 blocks per attempt of the level, netting around 100 per minute. It would take about 45 minutes to grind all 5000 wooden blocks.

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/achievements/2517/-Vwt-w==.jpg Stone Cutter - 10 http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/site/gp-g.png

Smash 5000 stone blocks

Stone blocks are the grey ones. The best level to grind these on is Level 1-14. Use the three bomb birds to explode near the center of the three stone block clusters. You can get 15-25 blocks destroyed every attempt of the level, netting around 100 per minute. It would take about 45 minutes to grind all 5000 stone blocks.

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/achievements/2517/-LzVbA==.jpg Icepicker - 10 http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/site/gp-g.png

Smash 5000 iced blocks

Iced blocks are those that look clear and glass like. The best level to grind these on is Level 1-8. You get 4 birds that are made for destroying ice and nearly all ice blocks to break. Make sure you tap to split the bird into three before it makes contact to increase your effectiveness. Pause and restart the level to repeat when there is not many iced blocks left. You can get 15-25 blocks destroyed every attempt of the level, netting around 100 per minute. It would take about 45 minutes to grind all 5000 iced blocks. Level 1-11 may be better, but you get less splitting birds to work with.

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/achievements/2517/-VRmXQ==.jpg Block Smasher - 10 http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/site/gp-g.png

Smash 50 000 blocks

See "Smash Maniac."

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/achievements/2517/-3Vv6A==.jpg Smash Maniac - 10 http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/site/gp-g.png

Smash 500 000 blocks

These achievements are related to destroying any of the blocks in the game. Anything that you can destroy counts as a block. After finishing all other achievements, it will take you another 50 hours or more to smash a total of 500,000 blocks. If you are going to attempt this achievement, there are a few levels that work well.

Level 5-19: Use the three birds you are given to destroy the three large piles of miscellaneous blocks. I found hitting the bottom pile first, then the top, followed by a shot aimed towards the far right of the screen to clean up the mess was best. You can get around 40-60 blocks per attempt of the level, netting around 150 per minute. At this pace, it will take you around 55 hours to grind all 500,000 blocks.

Level 4-13: This level can also net you up to 80 blocks or so per attempt of the level. However, it is highly variable and a little trickier to make the shots necessary. The most important part is to hit the trees. They can be completely destroyed with one hit and contain around 15 blocks each. This outcome of this level is highly variable and you should probably just stick with the Level 5-19.

Level 1-16: Launch the two explosive birds at the blocks, one around the bottom and one around the top. You can get around 40-50 blocks per attempt of the level, earning around 150 blocks per minute. Thanks to PlanetGalida for suggesting this alternative level.

For Big Spook, I actually got it pretty easily in world 5-3. Aim the green bird at about the second level from the bottom, and tap to release the screen just before you hit it. It unlocked right away, and seems less complicated than the method posted on TA. (Full disclosure, I haven't tried that method yet. :))

Thanks will add it to the guide. Tried it but cant really tell how it is working. Seems easier.

As with lots of things in Angry Birds, my first time through a level seems to be done close to perfect with a ton of luck, and then I try to replicate it and it takes forever. I'm not sure how easy this will be to replicate, but I definitely got it on that level.

Yeah that is definitely an issue with the game. I added it. The method I had was tricky to do and explain. Now both methods are there to help others. Can you tell when the pigs get scared?

I always play 100% zoomed out (better planning that way), but the downside is that it's harder to tell when they get scared because the pigs get pretty small on the screen.

I've got another note for the guide. First of all - awesome grinding levels for Smash Maniac and Pigsicle - I've played both extensively.

Here's something I noticed - in 5-19 I end up freezing a lot of pigs by popping their bubble, either with the bird or with flying debris - about 2-3 per try. I played the level enough to blow past Block Smasher (50k blocks) but I never got Pigsicle.

I switched to 2-23 and ended up freezing ~300 - 400 pigs before I got Pigsicle. So I'm wondering if you can really get it by freezing pigs by popping their bubbles. I feel like I would have gotten it on 5-19 if that were the case. Has anyone else gotten it by popping bubbles?

@zszaiss

I'm pretty sure that only the pigs you freeze via the ice bird count towards the "Picsicle"-Achievement.

Thanks for this info guys. Updated the guide here and the submitted correction to the published one.

for the ludicrous amount of blocks you have to smash.. you'd think rovio would add a counter to track your progress

I know really. This game is seriously the WORST!

I got bored, here's a ridiculous math breakdown of level 5-19.

Total breakables on the level: 95 (although 93 may only count towards the achievement; I am unsure if the 2 blue crystals count)

Top Cluster Total: 28

Wood: 8

Ice: 6

Stone: 13

Rock: 1

Bottom Cluster Total: 26

Wood: 8

Ice: 3

Stone: 13

Rock: 2

Back Cluster Total: 29

Ice: 29

Misc others:

Rocks: 10

*Crystals: 2

Totals!

Wood: 16

Ice: 38

Stone: 26

Rock: 13

*Crystal: 2

Once you reach level 5-19 you should have 250 stars (if not close to it) and be very close to 50,000 blocks broken. All the averages below are based off needing 450,000 blocks left to break.

If you average 60 blocks broken per round; it will take you 7500 repeats of level 5-19. With an average of 65 blocks it goes down to 6923. You will probly hover inbetween these 2 numbers as generally the 10 rocks floating at the top and bottom will not be broken.. so you're working on 83* blocks in reality.

You can probly average 4 rounds per minute, if really going at it. This breaks down to 1875 minutes, which is 31.25 hours. However, that's a torrid pace.. you'll most likely average 3 per minute which would total 2500 minutes or about 42 hours, which seems more realistic.

I did some breakdowns of getting to 5000 breaks for wood, ice and stone but by the time you get to 5-19 you should be pretty close on all of them if not done.

Personal best score: 142790
