Who do you want to see playable in the next game?

With DW8, the character-roster has reached a new apex. Previously, new games often brought in new characters while dropping old ones - but this time, for perhaps the first time, EVERY character from all of the previous games is present and accounted for, along with more than a handful of brand new faces. (The return of Zou Ci, in particular, is long-awaited.)

So, assuming this tendency holds up, the NEXT game will have all of the characters from this one - along with some new ones. Question is, who will get the vaunted promotion from 'Generic Named Officer' to 'Playable Officer'? Well, obviously, we've got no way of knowing at this point - but we can still discuss who we'd WANT to see.

Personally, my vote goes to He Man (Officer of the Yellow Turbans) and Dong Tuna (Officer of the Nanmen), because the Yellow Turbans and Nanmen are interesting characters, and I'd like to see them fleshed out a bit more.. and not at all because their names are hilarious. Nope, nothing like that. :biglaugh

...more seriously, Huche'er seems like a shoe-in. He plays a role in several memorable engagements, and he's apparently a friggin' NINJA, so there's that. Alternately, King Wutugu, for the Nanmen-related reasons stated above, sans funny name. He's stated to be the tallest warrior in Romance of the Three Kingdoms, bigger even than Meng Huo (who is currently the biggest playable character), and seeing as he got a suitably-adjusted 'generic' avatar in DW8, turning him playable would seem to be the logical next step.

Another good (and likely) option is Sima Yan, Sima Zhao's son and heir. Jin is still understaffed, and it was Sima Yan who actually founded the Jin Dynasty, crushed Wu, and united the entire country. And with the introduction of Jia Chong and Wan Yang, there's enough Jin officers around to make the historical Conquest of Wu playable... the main problem being that basically all the playable WU characters are dead at this point.

Huche'er is a NINJA!? He's got my vote.

It's about time Yu Jin was playable. Cheng Pu seems to be in quite a few battles. Not sure about Shu, Liao Hua maybe? He was around for along time but didn't do much apparently.

And for god sake have Zhou Tai hold his weapon the correct way, 4 games in a row now he's held it curved edge up AAAARRRGGGHHH!! It pisses me off so much.

Apparently he is. Historically, he was a foreigner (exact nationality unrecorded) who served under Zhang Xiu along with Jia Xu, and was known as the most lethal warrior in his army. His most notable contribution to Romance of the Three Kingdoms is during the Battle of Wan Castle, where he successfully steals Dian Wei's weapons, contributing to his defeat and death. Apparently, Koei looked at all that and concluded "Ninja!", at least going by his appearance in DW7-8...

Well, in his defense, he's using a weapon that hasn't been invented yet, from a nation that is China's historical enemy, so he can't really be blamed for failing to use it correctly... :p

It was correct in DW5 they've had it wrong ever since. I don't think it would be to difficult to work out that you hit the bad guys with the sharp edge:p

He does actually use it correctly(he pulls it out of the sheath the correct way) he just holds the sheath the wrong way round. I'm not sure if its less or more dumb like that.

EDIT: I got the 1000:gsicon: finally.

Hmm... saaaay, maybe he's wielding a 'Sakabatô', AKA 'Reverse-Blade Sword'. I mean... he uses Batojutsu, is covered in scars, and willingly puts his body on the line to protect others. Sounds to me like a possible ancestor of Himura 'Battosai' Kenshin. :woop:

As the winner Koei even did a some artwork for Chen Gong. I wouldn't be surprised if Chen Gong gets added with DW8: Extreme Legends much like Guo Jia after he won the poll and got artwork after DW7's release.

Nice find. I didn't know they let fans vote for characters to be added, which judging by the comments they do add the winning character atleast.

Anyway we should be worried about whether we actually get the next game:eek:

Personally I wouldn't mind seeing Cao Ang, he was meant to be Cao Cao's successor but sacrificed himself so his father could live, be interesting to see him fleshed out a bit, the did it for Dian Wei and he died in the same battle.
