Introduction

Tiny Troopers is a freemium, top-down military squad-shooter that has a bit of a cartoony feel. You control a small squadron of soldiers in hostile territory. Each mission consists of one or two objectives which must be completed before you can head for extraction. The controls are intuitive and the gameplay simple. On the easiest difficulty, even the most inept gamer will have no trouble breezing through this game to completion. Unlike most freemium games, you do not have to spend any money and the game is not a total grind. Currently the game is listed as FREE in the Windows Phone Store.

Step 1: Complete the campaign

After completing the tutorial, play through the game's campaign start to finish. In total their are 30 missions. Since there are no difficulty-related achievements, feel free to play on the easiest difficult setting (1 Star). Along the way, you will earn almost all of the achievements in the game. The only thing you should watch out for is collecting the gold medals, which are needed for squad upgrades to obtain the Decked Out achievement. Nothing is truly missable as missions are replay-able at any point once you complete them once.

Step 2: Mop-up

After completing campaign, you can select the individual missions that are most appropriate for the achievements you have remaining. The number remaining will depend on your play style and use of Specialists and Heavy Weapons, but in most cases, it should be less than five. Quickly check out each achievement in the Guide to make this step as painless as possible.

Conclusion

Tiny Troopers is a fun, free, and easy game on Windows 8 that can be completed in around 4 hours, for no cost and without any frustration!

GUIDE

Use an Airstrike to Kill 3 Enemies At Once

This achievement requires that you kill at least 3 enemies with a single air strike. Air strikes are one of the three heavy weapons in the game. To obtain an airstrike, you must enter the command center and purchase them for 12,000 CP. Once purchased, you can drag airstrikes onto the screen to call them. There is a few-second delay before they arrive, so plan ahead where the enemies might move. Wait for later missions in the campaign that have more enemies to make this a breeze. Early on, you will be hard pressed to find a cluster of three enemies. If three or more are killed in one airstrike, the achievement will pop.

Fully Upgrade You Squad

This achievement requires that you fully upgrade your squad. Upgrading your squad requires gold medals, which are the collectibles in the campaign missions. There are a total of 32 medals to collect in the campaign, but you only need 30 to fully upgrade your squad. Before each mission, it shows how many gold-colored medals are in the mission (there are between 0 and 2 in each level). Once you collect a medal, it is saved immediately and can only be collected once. Medals are often hidden in remote corners of the map, where the mission objectives may not take you. For this reason, it is suggested at the start of each mission, you head into the command center and purchase the Intel Map. This will show you the locations of all enemies and collectibles (green dots, includes medals and dog tags).

Squad upgrades can be purchased with collected medals in any pre-mission screen. Go right to the tab with the up arrow icon and buy the upgrades with your medals. After purchasing the seventh and final upgrade, the achievement will unlock.

Use one of each heavy weapon on a single mission

This achievement requires that you use each heavy weapon at least once in a single mission. Heavy weapons include grenades, rockets, and airstrikes. Grenades and rockets can often be found on the ground in most missions, but airstrikes will need to be purchased from the command center. Purchase/find all three and use them one time each to unlock this achievement.

http://www.xboxachievements.com/images/achievements/3279/4.jpg Grenadier- 5 http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/site/gp-g.png

Kill 50 Enemies with Grenades

These achievements require that you kill a cumulative total of 50 enemies with each of the heavy weapons across all plays and replays of each level. Grenades and rockets can often be found on the ground in missions, but air strikes will need to be purchased from the command center for 12,000 CP. While completing the campaign, don't be shy to use your heavy weapons. By the time you complete the 30 campaign missions, you may already have these achievements done. However, if you do not, load up Mission 9. This particular level has a bunch of groups of infantry. Purchase/pick up which ever heavy weapons you need and proceed to kill the group of enemies with them. To save time, you can abort the mission at any time to restart with fresh groups of infantry. It should take less than minutes to knock each of these out after completing the campaign, as long as you have enough command points to support the purchases of the heavy weapons.

Getting 50 kills with grenades, air strikes, and rockets will unlock the "Grenadier", "Spotter", and "Rocketman" achievements, respectively. The achievements will pop as soon as you reach 50 in the middle of the mission.

This achievement requires that you fail the very first mission in the game by dying. As soon as the mission starts, run in and let an enemy kill your entire squad to fail the mission and unlock this achievement.

Destroy 10 Towers

This achievement requires that you destroy a cumulative total of 10 towers across all plays and replays of all missions. Towers are wooden structures that have one enemy at the top. They have a large health bar, but can be destroyed with a single rocket, single air strike, or two grenades. The campaign will expose you to far more than 10 towers. As long as you destroy each one you come across (and don't just run past them), you should have this before completing the campaign.

Destroy 10 Tanks

This achievement requires that you destroy a cumulative total of 10 tanks across all plays and replays of all missions. Tanks have a large health bar, but can be destroyed with a single rocket, single air strike, or two to three grenades. The campaign will expose you to far more than 10 tanks. As long as you destroy each one you come across (and don't just run past them), you should have this before completing the campaign.

Kill 100 Enemies

This achievement requires that you kill a cumulative total of 100 enemies across all plays and replays of all missions. All kills with all weapons and squad members count towards this achievement. While progressing through the campaign, you will naturally unlock this before completing the Chapter 1, just keep killing.

Loose 5 Troopers to Mines

This achievement requires that you have a cumulative total of of 5 soldiers die from land mines. Land mines are scattered on the ground throughout the campaign. You need to direct your soldiers into them to cause an explosion to kill them. The first place to unlock this achievement is Mission 2. From the start, follow the linear path around to the left until you reach the minefield. Walk directly into it and hope it kills both your soldiers. Abort the mission, reload and repeat until the achievement unlocks.

Earn 200,000 Command Points

This achievement requires that you earn a total of 200,000 Command Points. You must save them up so that you have at least 200,000 in the bank. Command points are earned for doing just about everything in the game, from completing objectives, killing enemies, destroying buildings and tanks, and gathering collectibles and intelligence. This should not be a problem at all. This achievement will probably pop sometime during Chapter 2, depending on how conscious you are with your points. If you want, you can grind through Mission 2 on 3-star difficulty for quick Command Points.

Collect 25 Dog Tags

This achievement requires that you collect a cumulative total of 25 Dog Tags across all plays and replays of all missions. Dog tags are the game's collectibles and are frequently scattered across each mission. These can be gathered more than once and are very easy to find in most cases. There are more than 100 in the campaign, so grabbing 25 will be no problem.

Order 10 items from HQ

This achievement requires that you order a cumulative total of 10 items from the HQ. You can order items from the Command Center within a mission, such as medkits, heavy weapons, and additional troops. Once you order them, they will get air dropped to your location. Do this ten times to unlock this achievement.

The Machine Gunner is a special trooper that can be added before the start of the mission. He costs $30,000 CP per mission and isnt available until Mission 17.

If you use the Machine Gunner several times in Campaign, you may unlock this before completing the game. Otherwise, you can load up Level 23, purchase the Machine Gunner, and kill as many enemies as possible. The three barracks building will infinitely spawn enemies, so use this to your advantage. Repeat the level, if necessary (purchasing the Machine Gunner each time), until unlocking the achievement.

The Delta Force soldier is a special trooper that can be added before the start of the mission. He costs $40,000 CP per mission and isnt available until Mission 21.

If you use the Delta Force trooper several times in Campaign, you may unlock this before completing the game. Otherwise, you can load up Level 23, purchase the Delta Force trooper, and kill as many enemies as possible. The three barracks building will infinitely spawn enemies, so use this to your advantage. Complete Chapter 3

These achievements are awarded for completing each of the three chapters of the game's campaign. Each chapter consists of 10 missions, for a total of 30 in the game. The missions become progressively more challenging, but because there is no difficulty requirement, feel free to play on the easiest difficulty setting (1 Star). Completing a mission requires finishing all of the objectives and then reaching the extraction point. Use the map if you cant find what you are looking for (tap the icon in the bottom left of the screen while in a mission). Playing on the easiest difficulty, you will have no trouble completing the campaign as it is incredibly forgiving and simple.

I was surprised at how enjoyable the game was. For the coin achievement (and whenever I was low in general) I went to mission select, chapter 1 - mission 2. I chose the three stars and did not buy upgrades. You can make around 10,950 in roughly 40 seconds. I used this method whenever I was low so I could get all the bells and whistles to play.

Glitchy achievements. Kill 100 people and collect 25 dog tags both show as completed in game but haven't been registered on live (and didn't pop)

Fixed by reinstalling (wipes all progress)

I am surprised by that as I haven't heard a single complaint from anyone who has played this in regards to glitches, so sorry to hear it.

Can you earn the same gold medals over and over again or do they need to be unique? Missing one for my last upgrade, have played through the first levels and not spotted any medals. Can't remember if the early levels had them...

sorry so slow with this guide. You cannot get same medals twice. However , if you are missing a medal on a level, load it up, and at the start, go to the store and buy the collectible map for 2500. The medal will be one of the free dots in the map. Just check them all.

The prices on the guide need updating because the Specialists and Support Menu items cost a lot more now. This made the game a big grind when I played (I'll just list items needed for achievements):

Specialists:

Machine Gunner: 50,000 points

Delta Force: 70,000 points

Support Menu:

Grenades: 10,000 points

Rockets: 15,000 points

Airstrike: 24,000 points

One good level to grind the 'Grenadier' achievement is Chapter 1 mission 4 because you always start the level with three grenades.

Yeah, just completed the game too and after seeing the past cost of purchases, I'd like the game update to come later >_< I had to grind a little. That damned expensive airstrike and Delta Force specialist...

The barracks also doesn't infinitely spawn enemies. It spawns a max of 5.

Since one of the previous updates this does seem to be the case.

I found level 14 the best for grinding all the grenade, rockets and air strike kills. It is also a good level for doing the machine gunner and delta force chievos. I lined the two normal troops up at the start so the machine gunner/delta force couldn't be hit and let the others die. There is plus 25 troops on this map so you should be able to unlock both achievements in two attempts each or four total. Just make sure you keep an eye on your health.

I can confirm the game also has glitchy achievements. I am guessing it is something to do with the sign in, i.e. on plus 50 kills of the rockets I checked my achievements and it showed it unlocked. I then restarted the game and it asked me to sign back in which I did however the achievement has not synced.
