JaySten
There are little piles/puddles/whatever of darkness you can burn with your flashlight. Does it serve a purpose?
Park Diesel
As far as I know, they are only there to hurt you if you don't see them and destroy them. There were only a couple of places, that I noticed anyway, where other enemies were nearby. Basically, they are just an annoyance.
FYC Punker
Yeah they are supposed to hurt you but they never really gave me a problem,i just ran past them.
Volzagia
I think theyre there so you have to stand and burn them away with the flashlight, So that if your trying to run through the whole level you'll get your ass kicked
Shadowfan789
It reminds me of the black sludge stuff from Alone in the Dark. Actually... a lot of things about this game reminds me of Alone in the Dark. *cough* episodes *cough*
Evol Error
I burned the ones I saw, because I figured if I didnt they could attack me.. ahh! lol

Zee
I acutally liked Alone in the Dark a bit better, but maybe thats because most of the faults people had with the controls and camera angles didn't give me too much of a problem. I liked both games though.
Red Testament
I can understand the puddles on the ground impeding your progress. But some are on walls, where you can't run over them and won't hurt you. Those just seem absolutely pointless.
Roberoo
In fact this has a lot in common with Alone in the Dark: The New Nightmare, a very unsuccessful 4th edition in the series on PS2 in which you could only damage some enemies by shining your torch on them... tobiasdennis
The "puddles of darkness" are puddles of water from the lake. It's not pointless. It's to show you that certain objects in the game were erupted and placed there directly from the lake. They aren't there to harm you as much as they are there to push the story. He says that IN GAME.

He says that IN GAME. That makes sense since the plane was thrown out of the lake and it had darkness puddles on it. I know that the sail boat in the trailer park was thrown from the lake too, but the darkness was probably destroyed by the light of day.
Senate4242
They seemed to just be there to harm you if you ignored them and accidentally stepped on them in a fights. I felt obligated to kill them all, and I don't know why.

TarvDietts
They prey against my OCD, must BURN THEM ALL. Otherwise, most people I'm sure will just ignore them to save time... Maybe in nightmare they will be more of a nuisance?
Ali_P_84
They are no more annoying in nightmare. I think the ones on the vertical surfaces can harm you if you get too close to them but I'm not 100% sure as I usually burn them away from a distance.
