I got lucky as hell in Ante Up. I got down to just Kristin left to eliminate, I only had on one more piece of clothing and she had two, the hat and her PJ's, but the hat doesn't count so we both had one piece of clothing on. The cards were drawn and I had the better hand, I went to 100% in other words. I was THIS close to losing the game... at least I think I was. I don't understand poker that well, I'm lucky I won that...

To make matters worse for me, I spent about an hour or so in Atlantica trying to save the survivors there. Finally decided to get all three books, find it kinda lame they feel "required" to stand any chance. Finally beat them, and my game decides to freeze at the next loading screen (first freeze ever).

After about 3 times (lots of luck) winning, and lots of losing and reloading, and the game subsequently freezing I decide to rescue all the other survivors on the map and bring them to the poker game with me (without saving in between :(). Thankfully that fixed it and I was able to save them (first try).

Never been so close to giving up. Really don't like having the books to stand a chance.

Yes I agree. The 3 players in Atlantica were a pain to get them to follow.

Just grabbed the 3 gambling books and made sure I saved before going in.

I then just kept doing 'All in' and beat them fairly quickly.

So it seems the gambling books may help. (I didn't have any luck without them).

I beat the Poker players in the Atlantica Casino in 8 hands and I am by no means great at poker. Have all the gambling books on you for better hands.

The AI wont bluff. So if they raise on the flop, they have a pair or better.

That's the problem. You have to have a really great hand to take any money other than the buy-in from the AI. If they plunk any money down, they have a good to great hand. I had a great deal 5 or 6 times in a row and either I won the minimum pot, or I tried raising the minimum and everyone folded. You'd think people might even try to win some money. Makes it very difficult to win quickly or big at all.

Which is strange, because you've got to risk it all if you ever want to...

WIN! BIG!!!

im glad the books work for this, me and poker don't go very well, i had huge issues with the red dead one and i wished it was never repeated, still don't. with the books i mostly kept getting face cards and aces, most hands i won and got unlucky on a few others. far less painful on my 2nd playthrough.

big thanks to whoever pointed the books work on it, me love you long time!

So I'm at work right now in a quite cube area and I read this post and the win big quote made me laugh out loud and everyone looked at me. Well done for making my day!

I'm so proud of myself. I'm finally giving back to the community.

By the way, a further addition to my gratuitous hatred of the poker system; I was trying to get Jack's Helmet from him with all the gambling books. It was down to just me and him after Cora was eventually starved from a war of attrition (thank God for big blinds). For 4 rounds in a row, Jack's percentage of winning was 20% or less after the flop and he won EVERY SINGLE ROUND!!!

I'm sorry, who has the books that help him arbitrarily effect the statistics of luck? That's right, this guy. So how the hell do you keep winning?!?

Being the only guy who's actually worth defeating in Strip Poker (unless, for some reason, you enjoy looking at naked women), I suspect they gave Jack a bit of a 'luck-boost'. He's basically the Final Boss of strip-poker, and seems to play very cautiously on top of that. Almost every time I've played, it's come down to a duel between me and him - because he folds even more readily than the others.

Come to think of it, with the exception of Jack, it seems like the opponents in Ante Up are somewhat less prone to insta-folding than the trio in High Stakes. They'll often call minor raises or raise themselves on a mediocre hand. Guess it's because they're amateurs playing for fun, rather than pros playing for cash... or maybe I was just seeing things. :p

It went too slowly for me to enjoy it. Too much money going round and the AI folding whenever I had a good hand.

I really enjoyed the poker in Red Dead, not here though, it was passable but not something I' choose to keep doing.

Eventually I just let the bastards die...

grr

i was doing ante up and forgot about the case file so it made me lose ¬_¬ then i was stupid and saved!! now i've gotta do them all over again lol but i did win arthurs helmet..

oh also the last guy... it's all down to luck as i couldn't even say what i paid down and what not.. So i was putting 400k down every turn when he was putting like 20 down.. he got split pot sometimes but then if he won he'd get like 100k back and i'd get 300k split ¬_¬ so ridiculous.

Went to the 3 survivors in the casino' date=' killed them all. Ignored the Ante Up mission. Waste of time, maybe if the in-game time didn't pass while you played it would be better.[/quote']

Haha...I love how everyone else talks about playing poker and I read your post and it leads up like you're going to play poker with the 3 survivors...then killed them. I'm in such a great mood!
