Order to do quests

At level 24 there is no way you should be fighting a dragon (I think you actually mean the Drake? outside the shadow fort, surrounded by goblins/hobgoblins).

Also I don't think any quest requires you to fight the drake. In general if you simply stick to doing a main quest, then taking on the side quests unlocked after it before taking on the next main quest you should be fine.

I think the only time big issues with levels can arise are if you take a notice board quest escort quest too early, as some of them take you a LONG way from Gran Soren and can be very tough at low levels. Or if you rush through the main storyline and ignore sidequests.

Could you elaborate why you are trying to fight a dragon and which dragon you mean?

Yeah...it must be the drake...and that is part of the Wyrm hunt quest stuff the guy in front of the castle gives me...am I too far ahead of where I am supposed to be?

The wyrm hunt quests don't require you to fight the drake. If I remember they are

The cypher - Gran Soren/ Hillfigure knoll

Fortress besieged - shadow fort

Seeking salvation - catacombs

The only thing I can think of is that when doing fortress besieged you got a bit lost and wandered off into the woods. You can either go around the south or north of the lake outside shadow fort. South around it takes you past the drake. North takes you past saurians and goblins.

And it sounds like you are perhaps a little low level. Have you been skipping quite a lot of side quests?

Also just to let you know its very very hard to hit the drakes heart with a mage... because my main pawn is a mage right now lol with a lot of health items it would take you like 10 hours to kill him or something lol... but dont worry about it once you reach level 60-70 hes gonna take like 1 min to kill

I have been doing everyside quest I can find...not the bulletin quests. I take them and if they get completed cool. am I do this wrong?

Oh I hadn't noticed you're a mage/sorcerer.

In that case my best advice would be don't be a mage/sorcerer lol. Until you get to a higher level I just don't think you have the stats to make them work.

When you get to a higher level and have some reasonable HP they are better. Plus you need to level their vocations against foes you can easily beat so you can get augments like making it harder to interrupt your spells, casting faster etc.

Honestly though I'm still not entirely sure why people would be a mage/sorcerer. It seems like the roles were basically made for the pawns. They tend to use the right spell at the right time and seeing a field of meteors smash into the ground it doesn't really matter if you or your pawn was the one to cast it. You still see the same awesome result. There is a LOT of standing around waiting for your spell to cast as a mage/sorcerer. If you want to be a magic user then a magic archer or mage knight seems like the much better choice.

This is compounded by the fact that most enemies don't use magic attacks. Maybe in post game they do but before that there are very few who do compared to melee enemies. The magic casters can almost always be interrupted easily as well. Skeleton mages, mages, goat head on chimera etc basically never get the chance to hit you. But an ogre, saurian etc will all easily get hits in on you.

I play as a Sorcerer and completely decimate the Drake. All you have to do is get the spell High Gicel. (Multi-Prong Ice Spear Spell) It's amazing and does monstrous damage when you aim it at his heart. Since you're very low level it will take several attempts though. I killed it the first time at level 35.
