Achievement Guide and Roadmap

Overview:

- Estimated achievement difficulty:3/10

- Offline: 47 [1000:gsicon:]

- Online: 0

- Approximate amount of time to 1000:gsicon:: 6-8

- Minimum number of playthroughs needed: 1

- Missable achievements: None

- Does difficulty affect achievements: Yes

- Unobtainable/glitched achievements: None

- Extra equipment needed: Kinect Sensor

Introduction:

Kung Fu Panda 2 is a very decent but very different sequel to it's predecessor. With the new Kinect sensor being the basis of the game, an easy, and mildly physically challenging, 6-8 hours or so will require you to punch, kick and jump around like an idiot. Note to stretch off before playing (I almost pulled a hamstring) and to ensure th*ere is enough room for you to jump without headbutting the ceiling. No difficulty and only 1 playthrough along with a number of free play games means a reasonably easy 1k for all.

Step 1: Story Mode

Story Mode should be simple, taking about 2 hours to complete and only requiring one playthrough. All other achievements (such as 'X' number of kills) will be obtained in Free play.

Step 2: Freeplay

Free Mode achievements are reasonably easy, but the "Everybody is totally happy!" requires you to get Gold medals in every single event at every difficulty. This may be a reasonably annoying process but worth doing for the 60:gsicon:.

Conclusion:

The achievements can be, at some times, a bit annoying but the guide specifing hints and technique to attain a gold medal in each challenge from free play will make it easier and clearer. I highly siggest being in a well lit room, as for maximum sensor efficiency. Also have a window open or some sort of air conditioning YOU WILL GET HOT!

Defeat Xiao Dan in Combat

Story related, cannot be missed.

This is the final fight of the story mode, and is no tougher than the other "boss" fights in the game. Like all bosses, he has much more health, and attacks more times than regular enemies. Make sure you nail all of your blocks and dodges, and beat the hell out of him when it is your turn to attack.

Story related, cannot be missed.

The Gorilllas are probably the toughest enemy in the game, as they tend to force you to block and dodge more than the komodos or the wolves. Like all bosses, he has much more health, and attacks more times than regular enemies. Just nail your blocks and dodges, and beat him for a second time. This comes about three quarters of the way through the story.

Escape your first encounter with Xiao Dan

Story related, cannot be missed.

You will first fight Xiao Dan around halfway through the story, but he isn't so tough. Like all bosses, he has much more health, and attacks more times than regular enemies. Nail your blocks and dodges and beat him when you are on the attack. Simple enough!

These Iron pieces can be achieved during story mode but you will gain the majority playing through Free Play. You will earn a lot of iron on the 'Easy' setting on the 'Target Practice', 'Noodle Challnge" and 'Rickshaw Dodge/Chase' challenges within Free Play. You will more than likely get these naturally while going for all gold medals, but if you need a few more, you know where to go!

Max out two Rickshaw challenges

Maxing Out means to gain gold medals on Easy, Normal and Hard. Each Challenge has 3 difficulties. Complete 2 challenges with a Gold Medal on Each Difficulty and you gain the Achievement. These Challenges are best done with gaining as many Iron, Steel or Gold pieces as possible whilst simultaneously trying to defeat the enemies/get to the finish in the smallest amount of time. For ease of movement I would very much recommend moving your upper body left or right rather than moving your feet aswell. This moves the rickshaw but allows you to maintain balance. Obviously just straighten up again to return to the middle of the screen.

Win 4 Target challenges

The Target challenges are found in Freeplay. You just need to win with any medal on 4 different challenges (ie all two medals in two events, or three in one and one in the other, etc). See "Paws of Power" for more tips on the Target challenges.

http://www.xboxachievements.com/images/achievements/1272/5-k9CGU=.jpg Paws of Power 30:gsicon:

Max out two Target challenges

Like the Rickshaw, you must achieve gold on all 3 difficulties on two seperate Target challenges. The bonus points, which is what basically aids you in achieving each medal, are achieved when you prevent the wolves without weapons from throwing the crocodile statues at you. Shoot them before they throw the statue and you should get the 1000+ and a bunch of Iron, Steel or Gold thrown at you. Note also to dodge as many red... arrows or whatever they are as they significantly decrease your time. even if you are being barraged with the fire, it's worth dodging.

There are two ways to get golds the first one is to make sure you hit all enemies without missing to get your combo up, but it is probably easier (but more tiring) to just throw like mad and hit as many enemies as you can without worrying about your multiplier.

There are three Practice Sessions, that can all be found in Freeplay. Only one difficulty on each different activity required, but you're gonna have to complete everything at gold anyway, so you're not really gaining anything.

The Noodle challenges are found in Freeplay. You just need to win with any medal on 8 different challenges (ie all three medals on two events and two on one). See "Truth, Justice, and Tofu" for tips.

Max out two Noodle challenges

You will have to get all three medals on two seperate locations for this one. Of all the challenges in this game, the noodle ones are the hardest, as the sensor sometimes confuses which colour bowl you are intending to choose and will also throw them at the wrong table. You will have to get all three medals on two seperate locations for this one. When reaching for the blue bowls, reach across your body with your right arm, and vive versa for the red bowls, this seems to reduce the instances of grabbing the wrong bowl. When stirring the noodles, have your arms like a T-Rex and move them up and down, and when you are nearly done extend one of your arms out at the table you want to distribute to. The Kinect will still sometimes have other ideas, but this is the best way to avoid it happening. To get the high scores, make sure you are serving patrons in the order they have ordered to ensure you get the most points per serving.

Win 8 Combat challenges

The Combat challenges are found in Freeplay. You just need to win with any medal on 8 different challenges (ie all three medals on two events and two on one). The combat challenges are basically battles with different enemies, so just use what you have learned in the campaign to get these done easily.

http://www.xboxachievements.com/images/achievements/1272/+bY6xQ==.jpg Arena Master 30:gsicon:

Max out two Arenas

These are the easiest challenges to Max Out. Just complete Easy, Normal and Hard on two seperate Combat Arena activities and it's done. The dodges (Orange and Red) are a lot more complex than the simple blocks. A lot of the time the Kinect will pick up you dodging left or right (Red) when really you're intending to duck (Orange) I would suggest keeping your upper body straight and bending at the knees so that your downward movement is picked up by the sensor. The Gorilla Combat Arena in particular can give you trouble, as on the hard difficulty they do a triple

You need to earn a gold medal on every challenge at every difficulty. This shouldn't be hard bearing in mind the hints and tips included, but can be a bit annoying. Stick in there though because after burning all of those calories you want the 1000:gsicon: to go with it.
