Hair loss bro.

I guess Mike Ditka doesn't exist in CBS world...Kubiak the first coach to win a SB with the same team he played for? Nope.

I think they meant, win as a player and coach with the same team.

Hell, I dont know. I guess I thought Kubiak was on the 98 Broncos team.

I don't think Kubiak won the SB as a player for the Broncos. He was there from '83-'91.

He won 3 SBs as an assistant coach with Denver and SF.

I disagree. As someone who grew up with the echos of the 85 Bears defense, and the DEF/ST of the 2000s Bears, I enjoy defensive dominance more than explosive offenses.

Same with baseball. 2-1, 1-0 pitching duels are far more entertaining than 13-11 slugfests.

I agree with Lefty, nice to see a defensive game. The right team, and right guy, won IMO. Cam proved just how immature he is during the post-game, walking off with salty tears. Great player, but not deserving of it yet.

Congrats to Denver, but also a shoutout to the Panther D. They did every damn thing they could. Only one offensive TD and not a single 3rd down conversion allowed. Can't ask for a whole lot more than that :-/

One on the first drive wasn't there? Pretty sure...

Also, anyone with comments on this story about the NFL trying to tank concussion research?

New report outlines NFL interference in concussion research https://t.co/vk94bmA8R8/s/SOB2

Uh, there may well have been but I don't remember. I was sick as a dog through the whole thing. In any event, the Carolina D was the only part of that team showed up for the Super Bowl.

Watched a little combine "action" today. Things that stood out:

-The WRs this year are slow and stupid. Most all the 40 times were 4.5-4.6. A lot fewer 4.4s than in years past and only one 4.3 that I saw. They also kept screwing up the drills. A few made the same mistakes 3 or 4 times in a row despite clear instructions.

-The QBs were lazy while throwing for the WR/TE drills so it was tough to really see the catching skills.

It's a pretty destitute draft on offense. Lots of good defensive talent though. Well, and the O-line which is technically offense but not really.

Yeah, they just gave the group average time for the WRs...4.56. Lowest since 2011.

After the announcement of picking up Kaepernick's option I guess it makes sense for them to take Goff at 7 and groom him to fit Kelly's office. I dunno I rather you take O-Line or Defense in the first round and take a QB in the second. It's easier to miss on a QB. I'm sure the ghost of missing on the last Cal QB still haunts the Niners to this day.

Well, after seeing a slow and somewhat inept group of WRs yesterday the DLs and LBs were super impressive today. Proving Pants' point.

There was one LB, Darren Lee out of OSU, that outran all but 6 of the WRs in 40. A lot of LBs at or below the WR average time. But where both the DLs and LBs really impressed were the drills.

I wonder if Tunsil might have gone to the Chargers if he didn't tweet a vid of him smoking herb 20 minutes before the draft...

If Stanley goes before him, Tunsil definitely cost himself a lot of money.

Edit: That Ramsey/Goodell hug bordered on awkwardly long.

Double edit: WOW!!! Conklin goes before Tunsil also? Dude really messed himself up with that tweet.

Both his Twitter and Instagram accounts were apparently hacked. Whoever did it must not like Tunsil very much at all because they just cost this young some money. Was taking the video stupid? Certainly. Was his answering of the questions during his short presser badly handled? Sure was. But I'm so tired of the "smokes pot, bad dude" narrative (even though I don't smoke pot at all) and the fact that he answered the questions as honestly as he could was pretty refreshing. Doesn't help Ole Miss at all, though.

I'm not sure what to feel about the Panthers taking Vernon Butler. On one hand, it's always good to have some big hog mollies. On the other, I feel like we have enough DTs and could have used a player at a different position (OT, S, CB, maybe DE). However, I trust in some Gettlemagic so I'm sure later this season I'll be praising Butler.

The weed probably wasn't much of a factor for most teams. The NFL has seriously considered removing it from the banned substances list.

It was the bad judgment he showed in allowing himself to be recorded and in creating the possibility that it might ever get out. That sends up a lot of red flags about the quality of the guy's decision making.

What I've found absurd is that a lot of people on the internet want to use this as an example that the draft process puts unfair or brutal expectations on players. If anything, this incident proves the opposite.

Let's say you show up to an interview for almost any other job and shortly before your interview the HR department there receives an email from a "friend" of yours showing you breaking the law. You might not even get your interview. You almost certainly won't get the job.

Tunsil still got the job. He just will be payed a little less for the first few years. All sports leagues have shown a remarkable willingness to look past minor, major and extremely major issues if the they think the player in question can help them win. Issues that the vast majority of other employers will never look past.
