ruin3d
I thought it'd be good to start a thread with the achievement list and a space for people to add their guides / info. Enhancements can be slotted to any weapon giving bonus attributes to that item. Furys Embrace Attributes: Boosts wrath gain and reveals every game map and marks every collectible item on said maps Location: Black Throne On the way down the first tower after getting the Voidwalker item you will come to a large round room with no floor. In here there is a high platform you cpuldn't reach before with a void portal on it. Use your new toy to portal up there and step on the switch to make a path to the treasure chest with the enhancement. Slot this to any weapon and getting the collection achievements is easy. War's Glory Attributes: Boosts damage, increases Wrath Form duration and significantly increases weapon XP Location: Slitha's Loom In Slitha's Loom you will have found yourself in an outdoor alley which ends with a dead end and a partially broken fire escape. If you head back here with the Abyssal Chain and climb up the stairs as far as you can you should be able to see a chain point in the building across from you. Grapple up here to find chests containing War's Glory and some souls. Combat Law Attributes: Boosts XP gain by slotted weapon and increases overall armour Location: Ulthane This is your reward if you kill more angels than Ulthane. Death's Embrace Attributes: Increases souls harvested with each kill Location: Path to Ashlands As you progress to the Ashlands on foot you reach an area of road tunnels where there are big heavy metal gates you need to raise and use the chronosphere to get under in time. In the room with the Chronosphere is a portal, use the voidwalker on this then run under the gate, on the other side is another portal hole (again voidwalker it). Now return to the switch room and use the chronosphere and raise the gate, now look through the portal in the wall and you'll see a hidden room you can portal to in the ceiling above the gate when it is fully raised. Nip in here and take the enhancement. ruin3d
COMBAT ACHIEVEMENTS These all involve killing things and levelling weapons http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/achievements/471/UPwJTd0=.jpgHigh Flier - Kill 5 duskwings without touching the ground Xbox 360: 20 Points This is a pretty easy achievement to do if done in the right place. When you jump near any duskwing you will get a B prompt to grab them and perform a mid air finisher. All you need to do is rotate the camera as the kill is taking place, find a new target and double jump in mid air to it before pressing B again. The tricky part is finding 5 bats together. Easiest spots i found were either in the Drowned Pass Shadow challenges or the first room of the Twilight Cathedral dungeon. Run around until all five bats are near then its a pretty easy hop and stab. http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/achievements/471/+YxU8w==.jpgWho's Counting? - Defeating more Angels than Ulthane -MISSABLE Xbox 360: 20 Points This achievement takes place after you first meet Ulthane. At the start just use the B button finishers to steal his kills and rack up as many as you can. Later in the level when you get the Angelic gun you can really start racking up the numbers. Use rapid fire on most enemies and charged shots on ones with shields. Oh and steal Ulthane's kills with the gun As well as the achievement you get an enhancement which boosts weapon xp gains which you want for another achievement. NOTE: This achievement is missable so you should save a game as soon as the rock giant in Drowned Pass moves to allow you through the pipe. It is pretty easy to get this in one go, but being 7-8 hours into the game you probably don't want to risk it. http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/achievements/471/UPh4Z6s=.jpgDevastator - Kill 10 enemies with one blade geyser wrath attack Xbox 360: 10 Points This achievement is pretty easy to get if you upgrade the blade geyser wrath power, however, it is also achievable earlier in the game. The first easy place to get this is during the first shadow arenas in drowned pass. Run around until the zombies are all bunched then jump into the middle and pop the attack. This is also pretty easy to do during Slitha's Loom later in the game. The tiny spiders are quite often in groups larger than ten. Your best bet is to go into a larger room and shoot your gun at a few different groups until 12-15 spiders run at you then pop the attack when they're all in range. http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/achievements/471/UP4bfXQ=.jpgAerial Predator - Kill 160 enemies while on the angelic beast -MISSABLE Xbox 360: 20 Points This achievement is unlockable at one point in the game during a flying minigame. On the way towards the first dungeon, Twilight Cathedral you will reach an area of broken freeway called 'The Broken Stair' make sure you save a game as soon as you enter the building at the end. Once you walk upstairs a cut-scene triggers and you are on the flying sequence. This minigame is a bit like Panzer Dragoon, you are mounted ontop of an angelic mount and can fire projectiles at a number of Angelic attackers. You can either tap to attack or hold down the trigger to lock onto numerous enemies and release to fire. The lock-on technique is the best bet during this. The key to getting 160 kills is to focus on the small enemies in the background rather than the main attackers. You will fight maybe 30 angels during the entire sequence but there are a good 150+ other creatures en-route that you pass. Keep the lock-on button down and lock onto big groups at a time. Outdoors you want to focus on the ground where there are numerous ground based enemies, in the cave sequences there are big groups of bats and huge swarms of locust like enemies which fly past. Most of these are in the background so you need to hit them fast before they fly away. I missed a fair few of the main angel kills and this unlocked for me in the last bit of tunnel before reaching the cathedral. Slayer - Kill 666 Demons Xbox 360: 10 Points You will struggle not to get this playing through the game. I think i got it about half way through. You can check your progress by pressing select. River of Blood - Shed 3000 gallons of demon blood Xbox 360: 10 Points This again will unlock in the natural course of the game. I had about 5000 gallons by the end boss. You can check your progress by pressing select. Horseman - Kill 150 Demons from horseback Xbox 360: 20 Points You will struggle to get this during the progress of the game. I think there are about 25 enemies in the arena area and another 20 or so before the stygian boss, but unless you make an effort to mount up everytime you can you will need to grind this a bit. The best bit for this is the very first area in the game and the ashlands. What i did was wormhole back to the first area, ride around killing the 15-20 enemies there then back to Ashlands where there are five Abyssal Riders (worth a lot of souls so help towards the upgrades) then i rode through the tunnel towards Leviathan's Drift where there are another 10-15 ground based enemies. When you reach the Vulgrim in Leviathan's Drift wormhole back and everything respawns. This technique also boosts the ride 100 miles achievement which you will definitely need to do. http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/achievements/471/UP8uWdM=.jpgImprovised Kills - Kill 150 enemies with items from the environment Xbox 360: 10 Points Again you are going to need to boost this unless you make a massive effort to kill enemies with items from the environment. The best areas are the first one, scalding gallow, broken stair and dry road as well as slitha's loom. Things like bats, zombies and spiders are 1 hit kills. All other enemies need to be meleed until the B finisher prompt shows up then finished with an item. A very good spot to boost this is Slitha's loom, the tiny spiders are 1hit kills with chairs, benches etc and there are dozens of them. http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/achievements/471/UP9RRTQ=.jpgOpen Air Parking - Taking out a helicopter with a car, during the apocalypse -MISSABLE Xbox 360: 5 Points This achievement is missable, but as it is during the first level it is pretty easy to just start a new game to get it. As you work through the level you will see a rock giant being pulled to the ground by angels with chains. When you see this get ready as the only helicopter with cars near it is coming up. As you progress red spikes will pop through the ground preventing you backtracking. As soon as this happens grab a nearby car and look down the street. A helicopter will fly into view and towards you, target it and throw the car and the achievement should unlock. Dark Rider - Ride for 100 miles Xbox 360: 10 Points This one is pretty hard to get without boosting it. You rack up a few miles fighting bosses and proceeding through the game but nowhere near 100. In the end i unlocked the 150 kills from horseback then travelled to Leviathan's Drift and rode Runin round the outside wall in circles. It is about 1.5 miles all the way round so just keep circling until it unlocks. There is a total mileage meter when you press select which can help you track this. But it doesn't split horseback and on-foot. I think i had 330 odd miles when the achievement popped. ----- Addition: Credit to Grathius XR What I did was I put my controller down with the left thumbstick on something in my room which then held it in place and had it at an angle so that Ruin was basically riding in circles.. ----- http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/achievements/471/UP3ptU4=.jpgBattle Hardened - Max out all weapons & unlock all combat moves Xbox 360: 20 Points This is by far the hardest achievement to unlock due to the sheer number of souls and kills it takes to unlock. You need to level each of the three main weapons to level 4 (Sword, Tremor Gauntlet, Death's Scythe) by using them in combat. Each hit you score (kills not necessary) gains them a little bit of XP. You can boost the amount earnt by slotting XP boosting enhancements. Combat Lore is one you get for beating Ulthane in the angel killing mini-game and the legendary WAR enhancement gives even more of a boost. My prefered grinding route was Scalding Gallow worm hole --> library --> first city area then back via wormhole killing everything inbetween. The second problem you have is you need to buy all move upgrades. Hopefully the souls from levelling the weapons should be enough for this, but if not the Abyssal Rider's in the Ashlands or the four Wicked K hidden bosses are the best source of souls. Thankfully you don't need to upgrade the Wrath abilities to unlock this one ----- Addition: Credit to Skorpy78 Towards the end of the game you get a new sword, the Armageddon Blade which is automatically lvl 4 so you don't need to level up your Chaos Eater. If your Scythe and Gauntlet are lvl 4 you will get the achievement. ----- http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/achievements/471/UP1DdZ0=.jpgWrath Machine - Collect all the Wrath Powers Xbox 360: 10 Points You only need lvl 1 of each Wrath Power from Vulgrim to unlock this one. You can buy them all by the time you have done Slitha's Loom so purchase the basic version of each to pop the achievement. No achievements require any higher levels so unless you find one of them useful save your souls. Edited January 4, 2010 by ruin3d
ruin3d
COLLECTABLES Treasure Hunter - Search 150 chests Xbox 360: 20 Points If you are being thorough as you progress through the game / are going for the all Wrath Shards / Lifestone achievements you will easily open this many on the way. If you do need to boost your numbers health chests count towards this as well. I think this one popped for me about 3/4 way through so you should struggle not to get it. http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/achievements/471/UP08aXo=.jpgFull Power - Collect the maximum amount of lifestones Xbox 360: 20 Points To get this achievement you need to get 10 lifestones (the small skulls under your health bar which give you another full energy bar). You get one for each major boss killed which is five and you make up the other five by finding life shards hidden in the game (4x shard = 1 stone). The 'Hoard Seeker' item found in each major dungeon (think Zelda compass) combined with the map will show you where these are (as chests on the map). There are a few outside the dungeons which can be seen using the Fury legendary enhancement (gives you all maps and shows all items everywhere in the world). http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/achievements/471/UPzckek=.jpgWrath of War - Collect the maximum amount of wrath cores Xbox 360: 20 Points To get this achievement you need to get 10 Wrath Cores (the small yellow bars under your health bar which give you wrath abilities). You make these up by finding wrath shards hidden in the game (4x shard = 1 stone). The 'Hoard Seeker' item found in each major dungeon (think Zelda compass) combined with the map will show you where these are (as chests on the map). There are a few outside the dungeons which can be seen using the Fury legendary enhancement (gives you all maps and shows all items everywhere in the world). World Raider - Collect All 27 Artifacts Xbox 360: 30 Points Throughout the game you will find demonic artifacts which you can trade to Vulgrim for souls. These are displayed in your inventory and are split into three types: Soldier (20 of these worth 500 souls each), Champion (6 of these worth 1000 souls each) and Overlord (1 of these worth 2500 souls). The 'Hoard Seeker' item found in each major dungeon (think Zelda compass) combined with the map will show you where these are (as crosses on the map). There are a few outside the dungeons which can be seen using the Fury legendary enhancement (gives you all maps and shows all items everywhere in the world). http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/achievements/471/UPhLXrc=.jpgLegendary Form - Collect the Abyssum Armor Set Xbox 360: 20 Points There are ten pieces of this armour hidden throughout the game. It is well worth tracking them down as they make War nearly indestructible making Apocalyptic far easier, plus you look way cooler in my opinion. Once you collect the tenth you automatically change into the armour and get the option to wear it when starting new games. A handy video to all pieces is here Credit to Sepultura666: [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eX4kBWHJjTI]YouTube- Darksiders: Abyssal Armor Piece Locations[/ame] Locations: 1: Twilight Cathedral After you collect the three swords and raise the circular platform up out of the floor (where you access the door to the end boss) turn around and hop up the pushable block onto the balcony. To the left is a door with one of those grabbing creatures above it. Use your shiny new Cross blade to stun it and run through the door to claim the armour piece and some other toys. 2: Scalding Gallow As you leave the library on the right hand side you will have seen a platform you couldnt reach with some bomb growth on it. Use your Crossblade on this and the pillar will collapse giving you access to the chest above. 3:Scalding Gallow Standing by the Vulgrim location and looking over at Samael's prison you will see a small path below just above the lava. Glide over to this and run round the corner to claim the armour piece. Use the shadow flight point to get back out. 4: Drowned Pass Before doing the shadow challenges (or afterwards if you miss it) dive underwater near the entrance to this area (to the left) to find the armour piece in one of the caves. You actually go to this cave during the shadow challenges but you can't open chests in the real world while in the shadow realm. 5: Drowned Pass After completing all shadow challenges you'll get given this by the rock giant at the end. 6: The Hollows. As you progress through this level you will be in a tunnel where a giant (rideable) demon smashes through the right wall to attack you. The armour piece is in the hole it left. 7: Slitha's Loom. After fighting the first Loom Warden you'll find yourself in a room with a chronosphere and a grapple point (red) above it. Grapple up to find the armour. 8: Black Throne In the third tower you will come across some red crystals (bomb them) destroy them to find your armour. 9: Eden On the way towards the Tree of Knowledge run out into the lake area and search to find a piece of armour, a wrath shard and some other items. If you missed these the game is fibbing when it says you can't go back, the portal next to Azrael in Leviathan's Draft takes you back here. 10: Ashlands Ride behind the first two towers in the Ashlands to find a shadow flight point. Up here is a Champion artifact and some grapple points (red) use these to get onto the roof of the drilling tower and claim your final armour piece. OTHER BFA - Unlocked EVERYTHING Xbox 360: 30 Points As soon as you get your second to last achievement this will pop automatically completing the set. MASS DOMINATION
nice job. i have a few questions though. first, can u save anywhere and pretty much anytime u want. second, can u continue after u beat the game and/or can u go back to previous level or areas after u beat them. and lastly, how hard did u find apocalyptic difficulty. i need to get 1000G in less than a week after release so i can return it and get for credit for it. Baseman
Hi Just one small question: Does the game allow continue playing after finishing the story?
ruin3d
When you complete the game the last save remains outside the area where you teleport to the boss so you can load that and carry on collecting items etc. Also if you collect all 10 pieces of Abyssal Armour when you start a new game you get given the option to use that (makes you take shed loads less damage) which makes Apocalyptic easier. Then again i played through on Apocalyptic first time and it isn't that hard so if you want a quicker 1000G do it that way. I'm 1000/1000 now so will be completing the rest of the guide as quickly as possible so its ready for you guys when everyone has the game
ruin3d
In answer to the other questions 1. Yes you can save anywhere as long as enemies aren't around. 2. Apocalyptic isn't that hard at all. The bosses are as easy as any other difficulty as they're mainly puzzle based they just do a bit more damage if you screw up and they hit you. The only real enemies i found hard were the flaming fat men and the skeletal knights with the shields. The crossblade will stun the fatmen making them easy and dodging is your friend with the knights. So in answer play Apocalyptic, once you get your Abysum armour set its all easy anyway. ruin3d
I'm not 100% sure, but I think for the http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/achievements/471/UP4bfXQ=.jpgAerial Predator - Kill 160 enemies while on the angelic beast -MISSABLE Xbox 360: 20 Points Achievement you can save anywhere at the fly-stage, but when you load you'll be at specific points usually not as far as you where while saving, but the kills you made before still count, making this achievement a walk in the park. Thanks dude i never knew that, i'll add it.

ruin3d
you can return to any area except the starting apocalypse stage (only the hit a helicopter with a car achievement here anyway so just start a new game to get that) The game tells you you can't return to Eden but that's a lie. Azrael has an open wormhole to Eden next to him if you return to where he was.

If you can see chests but can't open them they're generally triggered by certain actions i.e. the Twilight Cathedral one spawns when you light every torch in the room, cross roads when you destroy every hydrant etc. These are normally just souls though, the collectibles you need for achievements are not in any of this triggerable chests that i remember

ruin3d
you get 1 health shard from vulgrim for finding all champion artifacts if you haven't done that already. There is also 1x health and 1x wrath hidden in worm holes (one you need to grapple to and one with invisible shadowflight points you can see with the mask of shadows) There's a bit of wrath in Eden beneath the stairs i missed and id also recommend walking to each location rather than wormholing as some connecting tunnels have hidden items in them
