It's a bit costly but I'm definitely getting it. I HATE EA for what they did here and even after spending $80 on the game and another $30 on the Season Pass there's no way I'm passing this up. I'd rather spend $150 on a single game by Turn 10 than a penny on anything by EA.

So they finally announced it. Shame only 7 are new to the series, but hey Porsche are back. As a Porsche fan I am ecstatic and only 1600msp is good too. (that is actually less than 3 normal car packs, plus we get 20 events and some gamerpoints)

I think the Panamera, GT2 RS, and road-going 918 are guaranteed. The GT3 RS 4.0 would be good, along with the 991 911 and the 918 RSR. And since they have so many other hybrids the GT3 RSR Hybrid would be another good choice.

I'm going to make sure Porsche is the company I get Affinity Level 50 with. I was going to make it Nissan but this is something to celebrate.

Fantastic news! Just loved the last line....I bought the CE and season pass as well and won't be missing this.

There is one thing that annoys me about this and one thing only. For us level 150s we will need to buy the porsches. Adding the porsches to level rewards does not help us. At least I know any credits I earn now will have a use in the future lol

EDIT: there will be 30 porsches with 7 new to the franchise. There were 27 in Forza 3 so 4 of those miss out. (oops actually there were more than that - I will update the list below)

Here are Forza 3's porsches

2008 Porsche #16 Dyson Racing RS Spyder Evo

1987 Porsche #17 Racing Porsche AG 962c

2008 Porsche #2 Gruppe Orange Racing 911 GT3 Cup

2003 Porsche Boxster S

2003 Porsche Carrera GT

1973 Porsche 911 Carrera RS

2009 Porsche Cayenne Turbo S

2006 Porsche Cayman S

2005 Porsche #3 Lechner Racing School Team 1 911 GT3 Cup

1998 Porsche #5 Zakspeed Racing 911 GT1-98

2007 Porsche 911 GT3 RS (997)

???? Porsche 550A Spyder

I also reckon there was one more. I will check when I get home. On my count 8 or 9 will miss out. As long as there is at least 1 of each racing variant I will be happy.

So there are 5 of the 911 GT3 Cup, 4 of the 911 GT3-RSR, and 2 of the 911 GT1-98. I wouldn't mind if they dropped most of those. They could also take out either the 2007 911 GT3 or 911 GT3 RS, since they are basically the same.

I'd love to see them cut the number of identical GT3-RSR and GT3 Cup cars myself.

The 911 GT3 & the GT3 RS are two entirely different animals, at least irl. I can't say I've owned either, I had a 911GT2 that I traded in on my Nissan GTR, but u have driven both pretty extensively. The normal GT3 is a standard Porsche road car with tweaks like the carbon/carbon brakes and clutch, some additional HP and torque, aero differences and some other things when compared to the standard 911 Turbo. The GT3 RS is literally a race car you can buy off a Porsche lot. No radio, no sound insulation, no carpet, carbon fibre racing seats that have no cushioning whatsoever, just the carbon shell, they stripped everything out to save weight and went in a completely different direction with the aero. They outperform the standard GT3 due to lower weight, ridiculous hard suspension and much more aggressive gearing, but they're bloody uncomfortable to drive, where the normal version has you in leather seats that feel like a beautiful woman holding you when you sit down and strap in, and they're a viable dally driver if you can afford the petrol. I'd like to see them put both in with different upgrade options, it could make for some very interesting tunes...but I certainly agree that we don't need 5 clone 911's with identical stats but different paint.

Also, I noticed it said that the price of the pack will be 1600msp, which I'll happily pay to get some of my favorite cars back, but won't the pack be included in the VIP / season pass, at least for a discount?

No it will not be in season pass or any special vip treatment. The season pass covers the 6 monthly packs of 10 cars.

This will be 1600 points to all.

On a slightly different note the next patch apparently raises driver level to a cap of 999.

It still grinds my gears that those of us that maxed to 150 early missed out on the dlc cars as reward car options. I wonder if there will be reward cars in the extended driver levels.

Looking at that list.... There will be 14 cars missing that were in FM3 (includes the DLC) and there were 14 R-class Porsches in Fm3.

I maybe grasping at straws here, but could it be that Turn10 only got the license to use production/Road cars and not the racing license? I remember in the past (around Fm2 time) Greenawalt mentioned on the official forum that normal production license and racing licenses were separate.

-- If that is the case I am happy, I would rather have the road cars than racing ones. Though it would be nice to at least have one 911 R class.

I guess it could be that if they want to use race models they have to get the manufacturer license first, then get licensing from the privateer teams racing the cars.

If they're separate licenses I can't see EA holding the racing one, they wouldn't have any use for it.

The RS is only 29 lbs lighter than the standard GT3. It barely outperforms the GT3. The RS does have a number of tweaks and some different parts, but they are still basically the same car. They only need to keep one of the two imo.

In FM tradition, the RS would be the one to keep. FM always takes the highest performing version of a particular model in order to prevent the car list from being bloated with slight variations of the same car (a la Gran Turismo). They have the STI, not the WRX; the Charger SRT8, not the R/T. Why should it be any different for the GT3/RS? The only people that will really care about having both versions are die-hard Porsche fans. And they will never be satisfied anyway, unless the game had every Porsche model ever made and they were all significantly faster than any other car in the game. ;)

I am the opposite. R cars for the win.

As long as there aren't duplicates I'm happy with R cars. The Le Mans GT1 for example sure as hell better be in there. But I'm not going to be happy to see them leave in 3 or 4 identical race cars from different teams while they remove unique road cars. There'll be plenty of replica liveries to satisfy people that want certain teams' cars.
