Roadmap and Achievement Walkthrough

This roadmap and turned into a mini achievement guide, since there are so many missable achievements.

It's only my second roadmap, my first was for Darksiders.

All I try to do is to point out where you have to pay attention as not to miss any achievement and prevent you from having to play the game twice.

Yes there are spoilers, don't read any further if you are spoiler allergic.

This game is not hard, just frustrating in some places. Notably the lack of ingame statistics and boss battles on Hard can suck quite a bit.

If you want to 1k this in just 1 playthrough, start a game on Hard (Give Me Deus Ex) and don’t get any alarms (red radar) and don’t kill anyone (this also includes the prologue!).

I used takedowns and the Tranquilizer Rifle mostly.

Ghost/Smooth Operator bonus at the end of some objectives are a good indication.

Merciful Soul bonus after neutralizing an enemy means you didn’t kill him.

I got Foxiest of Hounds with 1 unavoidable red radar and that was when the chopper crashed, I just snuck up to the elevator there without being spotted by any enemy.

NOTE: I just played through it again on Give Me Deus Ex to test some stuff and got Foxiest and Pacifist even after I had numerous "Hostile" states, got shot at plenty times and OD'ed Brent Radford. I even had a casualty when I EMP'd the mech at the chopper crash and the explosion killed some enemies. However, I did not get any alarms!

I only used the Tranquilizer Rifle and Takedowns

This means in my opinion:

-No other enemies must be alerted other than the one that made you turn "Hostile"

-No red cameras

-No enemy pushed the alarm (Those hackable buttons on some walls with a hand on it)

-No need to worry about alarms in Panchaea at all!

-UNSURE: Turret alerts, just avoid those alerts to be sure.

-UNSURE: The Fall, I did not test this.

-UNSURE: Kills in the prologue, I did get shot at here too. Just sneak past these to be sure.

TIP: You can usually avoid a lot of enemies.

Also get all 29 eBooks, a lot of areas are one time only! (Locations are posted below, I added my own descriptions and names of the eBooks). If you follow the eBook guide, then Doctorate will pop when you find the last one in Omega Ranch, it did for me.

Letting the hostages die, does not screw you out of this achievement!

Use this excellent collectable guide with pictures (with permission from Msxboxworld.com)

Make a save whenever you get to a new area as backup, possibly only get the sidequests achievements, reload and follow the main quest. This may be handy when going for “Foxiest of Hounds” and “Pacifist”.

Most quests have 2 achievements with them, so save a lot and especially before you turn them in. List with multiple achievements in order:

· Motherly Ties / Sentimental Value

· Cloak & Daggers / The Take

· Rotten Business / The Fall

· Bar Tab / Guardian Angel

· Shanghai Justice / Super Sleuth

· Smash the State / Lucky Guess

· Acquintances Forgotten / Kevorkian Complex

· Corporate Warfare / Ladies Man

Technically, you can “miss” all sidequests, but you will get a notification when there is a quest available, except for Talion A.D. This starts the second time in Shanghai in the LIMB.

Four other missable sidequest achievements are: Hangar 18, Good Soul, Acquaintances Forgotten and Kevorkian Complex.

There are also some “Speech” related achievements and all but one can be obtained w/o the CASIE mod. Just save where mentioned in this guide.

Ladies Man is the only exception. I just saved, put 2 point in CASIE for the achievement and reloaded.

VERY IMPORTANT:

Make sure you read emails about your past after you got “Yes Boss”!

In the last level you HAVE to find and talk to William Taggart and David Sarif or you will NOT be able to get all 4 endings!

During your playthrough you will most likely pick up the following achievements, but pay attention to them anyway:

Transhumanist, just upgrade one augmentation tree fully.

Gun Nut, I upgraded my Tranquilizer Rifle (only 4 upgrades and I used it the most, I got this in TYM)

Hax0r1!, plenty of hacks available to get 50.

Opportunist, you will take down 50 enemies easily.

Consciousness is Over-rated, you will also take down/knockout 100 enemies easily.

TIP: visit LIMB everytime you come back (ie. Detroit, Detroit II, Shanghai, Shanghai II etc.) to buy 2 Praxis Kits if you have 10k to spare. Theres even a LIMB in the last level for 2 more Praxis Kits.

TIP: My must have Augmentations for Foxiest of the Hounds and Pacifist:

Hacking: Stealth 3/3

Hacking: Capture 6/8 (only get Turret and Robot if you have spare)

Cybernetic Arm Prosthesis 6/8 (Don’t bother with recoil)

Icarus Landing System 1/1 (You NEED this in TYM)

Reflex Booster 1/1

Cloaking System 3/3 (This will be very helpful in the last level)

Very handy to have:

Dermal Armor 4/4 (You will love this in a certain boss battle)

Implanted Rebreather 1/3 (Gas immunity can be really handy occasionally)

Sarif Series 8 Energy Converter (Not a must, but reduces downtime and makes you invisible longer)

Thanks for reading and enjoy the game, it's kinda like how Splinter Effect 3 would look like.

Thanks for additions and corrections:

List in order you can get them and number of eBooks to get in that area:

Everything that is even remotely missable is in red.

Non missable is in grey.

Achievement Walkthrough is done!

Assuming:

You are playing on Give Me Deus Ex

You are going for Foxiest of Hounds and Pacifist (and get it ofcourse)

You did not put any point into CASIE and follow my guide

Then this will be your one and only playthrough for 1k.

Prologue (0)

TIP: To be safe, don't kill any enemies, just sneak past them!

TIP: Letting the hostages die does not matter for Doctorate!

Tech Labs, on the right side of Pritchard.

Sarif Manufacturing Plant (2) One time only location!

-Neural Interface Protocols: The PEDOT Revolution

Room near cam/turret, right after you run into a Praxis Kit.

To be safe, I suggest putting that point in Move/Throw Heavy Objects, so you can move the turret.

You can also throw a grenade (if you found one) at it or block it’s view with boxes.

-Artificial Muscles

Just before you meet Zeke. You will see a double door with the yellow waypoint X on it and some windows on fire to its left.

First Takedown

Just take down the guard after the tutorial

Pick up box from forklift, climb up and enter vent at the end

Motherly Ties

Megan's mother approaches you after you exit Sarif Industries

Sentimental Value

Make a save before talking to Megan’s mother at your apartment complex.

When looking for evidence you should come across a bracelet in a safe (lvl 3 hacking), just choose to keep this when you turn this quest in.

The Desk Job

Go to the policestation and talk to Wayne Haas.

Choose Absolve ‘till this pops.

This is missable, because you can also choose to sneak into the Policestation.

Up the Ante!

Just before the morgue are a bunch of lockers, one of them (rear leftish) has a free reload upgrade for you!

Just upgrade a weapon, I suggest the Tranquilizer Rifle.

Cloak & Daggers

After you leave the Policestation Pritchard tells you to go meet Jenny Alexander, she’s on Grand River Road (this is the road going from the Policestation to the Chiron Building, your apartment), dressed as your mom.

Do the Derelict Row part when you have to shut down the antenna in Derelict Row (main mission after you visited your apartment).

Just throw the basketball through the hoop.

FEMA Detention center (1) One time only location!

-Blurring the Boundaries Between Man and Machine

At the end of the level, don’t go down when Pritchard tells you you need to go to the floor below you. Instead turn left and you come to a cafeteria. It’s in a lvl 2 hackable room, between the 2 toilets if you look on the map (-4F)

-Electrogravitic Technology Applications

Alice Garden Pods Area, 2nd floor #143. You have to get this on your 1st visit to the pods!

Rotten Business

4th floor of the Hung Hua Hotel right after you land. Talk to Mei Suen.

The Fall

Make a save after you knocked Diamond Chan down.

Drag his body out his room and dump him of the ledge.

TIP: After talking to Mei Suen, go out onto balcony, hop over to the last and pick up the Smart Card, this will save you a tedious trip later.

-Brain Implants

Just before the end in the hangar with the 2 mechs in the upper left room.

-Dermal Modification Processes

On Isaias Sandoval's desk.

Choose Confront ‘till it pops.

Acquaintances Forgotten

While walking to the Convention Center Pritchard contacts you and suggests you go talk to Brent Radford.

Kevorkian Complex

Make a save before you talk to Brent Radford.

OD him for this achievement, this does NOT void Pacifist!

Smash the State

After you exit the Convention Center, Nicholas starts a talk with you.

Lucky Guess

Make a save when you find the bomb.

Punch in 0000.

The Last Straw

Make a save before you enter his room in the sewers (it’s near some frag mines)

Choose Tough Love ‘till it pops.

Doesn’t pop each time somehow, so be happy you made a save.

POINT OF NO RETURN

Make sure you have finished all the sidequests in Detroit II and collected all the eBooks.

This is your last chance!

Sarif Industries Last time!

Make sure you got all 3 eBooks in Sarif Industries, this is your last chance!

Shanghai II (1) Last time!

TIP: Not taking the Biochip upgrade makes the next bossfight a lot easier!

-Understanding Vision (Part 2)

Harvester's Hideout: northwest room on lowest level. (You will find Malik here if you didn't save her)

Good Soul

Make a save as soon as the chopper crashes.

Kill all the enemies and save Malik. Gas grenades are pretty helpful here.

Reload and sneak to the elevator if you are going for “Foxiest of Hounds”, that’s way easier than fighting.

Talion A.D.

Pritchard will tell you to go to LIMB. Go to LIMB and talk to dr. Wing.

Zelezny is in the sewers, close to where you have to neutralize the terrorists for Corporate Warfare.

After you took them out, look for a manhole on the same level.

I just talked to him and agreed with him and lied to dr. Wing.

Corporate Warfare

You will get notified to meet someone when you enter the Youzhao District.

Ladies Man

Make a save before you talk to Mengyao to complete “Corporate Warfare”

Seems you need CASIE for this. Choose “Inquire” then “Charm”

POINT OF NO RETURN

Before you activate the bomb make sure you have finished all the sidequests in Shanghai II and collected all the eBooks. This is your last chance!

Omega Ranch (2) One time only location!

-Delgado and the Stimoceiver

Same floor as Nia Colvin, NE room near elevator.

-Reimaging Retinal Implants - Doctor Dobelle's Success

Megan Reed's room in her safe (lvl 5 hacking).

The Snake

Unmissable: Kill Jaron Namir

TIP: Not taking the Biochip upgrade on your 2nd visit to Shanghai makes this fight a lot easier!

Doctorate

Woot, finally!

Pops where you meet with Megan Reed, assuming you followed my guide.

Hangar 18

After the scientists enter the chopper, go left (opposite of waypoint) move a crate and find a computer you have to hack.

Panchaea (0) One time only location!

The Final Countdown

Make a save after the turret on the ceiling in Panchaea.

Choose Extrapolate ‘till it pops.

Before going down the big elevator (the game asks you if you are sure), make sure you have talked to William Taggart and David Sarif or you will NOT be able to get all 4 endings!

David Sarif is on -4F, southeast room

William Taggart is on 2F, middle room north

The End

Unmissable: Kill Zhao Yun Ru

Trooper

Unmissable: After you finished the game.

Legend

Just play it on Give Me Deus Ex and don’t change it.

You can turn on some options under gameplay if you want and still get this.

Foxiest of the Hounds

I just played through it again on Give Me Deus Ex to test some stuff and got Foxiest and Pacifist even after I had numerous "Hostile" states, got shot at plenty times and OD'ed Brent Radford.

Pacifist

Just don’t kill anyone, mechs are ok to EMP them to junk.

This also means no killing in the prologue!

I got this when only using the Tranquilizer Rifle and using takedowns, just don’t accidentally hold the B button or mistake the tranq rifle for a rocket launcher.

The D Project

Just let the ending credits roll after you beat the game for the first time until this achievement pops.

Deus Ex Machina

You HAVE to find Taggart and David in the last level or you won’t be able to pick all 4 endings in one playthrough.

Make a save before choosing, then reload this save and pick another until you get this achievement.

That's it, if you followed my guide and managed to remain undetected without killing anyone, congrats on another game 1k'd!

Thanks for reading and I hope you found my guide helpful.

Other technically missable achievements not covered extensively in my guide:

Gun Nut

Fully upgrade one of your weapons.

I upgraded my Tranquilizer Rifle, it only needs 3 reload upgrades and a targetting upgrade.

This was the weapon I used exclusively on my playthrough for Foxiest and Pacifist.

The targetting upgrade is for sale before you enter the FEMA Detention Center.

Reload 1: Morgue in Police Station

Reload 2: Shanghai, sadly I forgot where, it was some locked depot. I think it was in the alley directly west of Hung Hua Hotel.

Reload 3: Where you find the eBook Better Than Nature in TYM

Hax0r1!

Successfully hack 50 devices within the same playthrough.

TIP: Go for the red core whenever possible, that’s an instawin! You even get all the goodies.

Transhumanist

Fully upgrade your first augmentation of choice.

Just get a complete a tree when upgrading.

Opportunist

Perform 50 takedowns within the same playthrough. (Civilians don't count.)

Peanuts when going for “Foxiest of Hounds”

Consciousness is Over-rated

Knock out 100 enemies in a single playthrough.

See “Opportunist” you’re kinda halfway there after you got that.

Just continue using B and your Tranquilizer Rifle, should be no problem when going for “Foxiest of Hounds”

-Arms (and Legs) for Man - The Structure of Cybernetic Limbs

Needs lvl 5 hacking, 1 floor above O'Malley's room, also has a Praxis Kit (you can get this after FEMA Detention Center mission).

Can I get this eBook during my 2nd visit to Detroit? Because I still don't have a level 5 hacking skill.

I don't know, let me know when/if you find out later.

Corporate Warfare is availible upon your 2nd return to China, not your first. Other than that looks like a great guide!

You're right, thanks and edited.

The code to the 2nd floor 5 level security door that contains an eBook is 2356. And the code to the storage locker that has a Praxis kit is 3663.

Good info, thanks and added.

Question since i'm still in Detroit (just finished the part where you go to Jensen's apartment for the first time) should I make a separate save now or is it possible to come back to city hubs later in the game?

I am asking because I did Motherly Ties, Cloaks and Dagger, Lesser Evil, the Greg Thrope thank you thing, I have looked through the city and hacked everything I could find (except the big room with all the computers/cops in the police station because I didn't want everyone to go hostile on me), got all the secret/hidden weapons (sold the rocket launcher, found stun gun, combat rifle, PEPS....),hacked the satellite prematurely or without a mission to tell me about it (Which came up in the apartment), basically I explored thoroughly (doing foxiest hounds and pacifist this playthrough)

BUT I heard that some items are hidden behind walls and other things (i don't have the augmentation to through walls, punch through them, or anything else yet). I plan to play the game over again to do it on hard and get everything I missed.

Question is: Is it still Possible for me to get anything I Missed? Can I return later when I have those augmentations? Or is it better that I just do what I missed in my next playthrough?

Sarif Manufacturing Plant (2)

-Neural Interface Protocols: The PEDOT Revolution

Room near cam/turret, right after you run into a Praxis Kit.

To be safe, I suggest putting that point in Move/Throw Heavy Objects, so you can move the turret.

I looked everywhere for this. The only real room by the turret is the room that allows you to shut off the camera. Is this where you mean? Also there is a box blocking a vent that allows you access around the turret and you end up behind it. I don't know how you could get a point already to put into Move/Throw Heavy Objects because I'm only 3/4 to my first rank up and I am almost beating that level. Is it a level you come back to?

If this is the first mission you do after the prologue then what I did was this. The praxis kit gives you points to add/level augmentations. I used the praxis point to allow me to lift heavy objects. I went through the vent, went behind the turrent, picked it up and put it in a corner facing the wall. Then went back into the vent to where the praxis kit was. Went on the wall and used the tap A to avoid the camera from spotting me. Went into the room and the e-book should be there along with the computer to deactivate the camera.

Missed what, items or achievements?

There are no achievements that require you to have the "punch through walls" augmentation.

I heard that there were secret items that could be found only if you have the augmentation to punch through walls, like I one location or example would be in the sewer somewhere behind a wall was a praxis kit or something really useful. I am just worried there are possible things that I may miss that will keep me form missing any achievements pr help me get one (like if there is a praxis point that would really help me out for the foxiest hound/pacifist achievement because I could use all the praxis points I can get). Thats why I was wondering if you could come back to city hubs

I will edit the description, it is in the room you mentioned, hidden kinda sneaky under a box.

Yea some items are kinda hidden like that, but none of those are needed for any achievement at all.

The only augmentation you HAVE to have is Icarus, for an eBook.

(and hacking ofcourse)

Oh alright. Yeah I heard that one was good one to have. I'm just a little overwhelmed. I am trying to get the Pacifist Achievement and Foxiest of Hounds on this playthrough as well exploring and finding whatever side stuff I can. However, I am overwhelmed by the choices in augmentations. I made sure I focused on hacking and recharge rate first, but now that I did that I have no idea which augmentations to work on now. Like which ones I need and which ones I don't need/aren't useful for the achievement/exploration...

Good job so far rokkyrok. I like the idea that you put everything "in order" since most guides/achievements are totally in disorder.

I also like the idea of it being in order (especially for a game like this) just wondering if this "guide" is going to have every achievement in it? If so I will probably wait to start until you are finished.

I wasn't planning on making a guide, but since almost all achievements are technically missable, it's kinda turning into a guide.

I am counting only 6 absolutely non missable achievements, 4 bosses, 1 for beating the game and for your first hack. Maybe 7 if you cannot sneak into Tong's office, i will check that when i get to that part again.

You should just start the game if you have it, I'm pretty sure you won't miss anything because I haven't finished yet.

Can you please be more specific about rhe book in Derilect Row? Is it past the people in the couch, in the big courtyard, what flooe etc..

I've been going everywhere and I just cant find it!

Haha I found it! It is on the second floor. It is the room with the smallwindowa looking out into the courtyard. There are 3 guys on patrol. One going back and forth and the other 2 are leaning on something. One of the leaners is leaning on a can. Next to him is the book.
