Chris240191
I downloaded the passing just now and every now and then whilst playing, it says "Gamer Profile Error" with a little message saying my profile failed to update. I got the 18 decaps with the golf club and it said it again, now every time I decap a zombie the message appears. I have tried restarting my xbox a few times to let it load up again but this keeps happening. It also just appears randomly every now and then. I have never had this appear before downloading this. Anyone have any ideas if this is a glitch with the passing or just a general L4D2 glitch? Also if there is a fix for this? Any help would be appreciated, thanks. BlindxLink
Try and remove cache and and start L4D2 up and update.
Chris240191
I would delete my cache but I'm pretty sure that if I do that my Gears 2 rank would reset which I don't really want to happen. Could anyone confirm that my rank will not reset? Because if you can then I will delete my cache.
BlindxLink
LOL it won't be reset. Cache is just like, updates and stuff. Ranks and things like that are all server side, meaning you don't have your rank stored anywhere on your xbox. It's safe to remove cache.
Chris240191
It's just that the Gears ranking system was introduced in a title update and a lot of people have had their ranks reset when removing the cache. I will head over to the Gears forum just to be on the safe side before I do this.
BlindxLink
Alright. It IS safe though. Looked it up and I guess you were right about a few people having a problem. I think someone was saying if you sign in with a different account and do it, it will be okay. I don't see how since you're removing all updates on the xbox itself. Chris240191
Ok I trust you, I'll do it later when I get back on my box and I'll let you know if the DLC is working fine afterwards, thanks.
skatermike21988
If you are that worried about the gears rank do this: 1.)Clear your cache 2.)Sign out of the profile you don't want to lose your rank in 3.)Sign into a different profile 4.)Load up gears and update. The people that have lost their rank is because they clear their cache then load up gears and play a game before updating or they go to a friends house with their profile and play on a non-updated version of gears. The reason this happens is because your rank is stored in your profile and if you play on a non-updated gears the game reads it as data that shouldn't be there and erases it. I clear my cache all the time and simply make sure that I download the update before I play anything. Hope this helps.
Chris240191
Ok thanks a lot mate, that makes great sense, I'll make sure I do that when I delete my cache and update Gears. Finally be able to play The Passing properly later then .
tripleb2k
I've cleared my Cache a few times. My Gears rank is just fine. Don't worry buddy!
Chris240191
I cleared my cache and updated L4D2 and it still wouldn't work so I signed in to a different profile and that one did work. I decided to recover my profile and now it works fine, so if anyone else has this problem then just recover your profile and you should be fine.
